Urgent --2 BIEE presentation Services and One BI Server in Linux

Is it Possible to Have 2 BIEE presentation Services and One BI Server, so one BIEE Presentation Server access 1.rpd and another will access 2.rpd to create Report design.
Basically my requirement is at a time 2 developers need to create reports with 2 different. RPDs in the same environment with by 2 diff URLs.
This Situation is in Linux platform.
So in this Situation what NQSConfig.ini will contain?
And how many OracleBIData Folders will create and how many Instanceconfig.xml files create?
If possible please can you please share any documentation related to this?

Hi,
I am using OBIEE11g (11.1.1.3.0) on Windows 64bit server, suddenly i have problem i could not able to login my Dashboard and RPD (online mode) [i.e: i am able to login offline mode in RPD] but Weblogic console and EM and OPMN all services are up .
Please check the below error:in RPD

Last few months ago i have faced the same issue ..then i resolved below method
Unable to Sign In into presentation services and RPD obiee 11
Issue :I had a trouble to login into RPD (online mode) the Presentation services lately.
It was working fine before and after changed console user sequrity things changed and was having issues to login lately after that.
It always gives me invalid username/Password was entered message when I tried to login no matter what ever username I tried.
I was able to login into Enterprise manger and Weblogic Admin console successfully with out any issues. All the processes are up and running with out any issues.
Tried rebooting successfully and still it wont let me login into Answers. So I tried if i could login into Admin tool and it wont let me login there as well.
So I created new Admin user in the Weblogin console and tried to login using the new user and still no luck. The new admin will let me login into the EM and WLC but not into Answers and rpd.
I tried deleting old references of the user directories in the catalog and still no luck.
It has something to do with the credential store. What ever user name I created its not mapping it to the Answers/rpd inspite of both the services are running
Solution:
======
1. Please follow instructions given in
How to fix “Unable to Sign in. An error occured during Authentication" error when a user logs in OBIEE 11g (Doc ID 1302924.1) step by step, for those steps you have done, please double check and make sure what you've done are correct.
2. You are still not able to logon because you have missed a few steps as the following:
8. Edit the NQSConfig.INI file to reset the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES to NO and restart the Oracle BI Servers.
9. Remove, set to none, or comment out the line (see UpgradeAndExit in the following example) added to the instanceconfig.xml file (that instructs Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart).
10. <ps:Catalog xmlns:ps="oracle.bi.presentation.services/config/v1.1">
11. <ps:UpgradeAndExit>false</ps:UpgradeAndExit>
12. <ps:UpdateAccountGUIDs>none</ps:UpdateAccountGUIDs>
13. Restart the Presentation Server for the instanceconfig.xml file that was updated.
14. Make sure Oracle WebLogic Server and the system components are also running, if they are not running, restart them.
b) Relogin as the problematic user to verify if you still see the “Unable to Sign In” error
Step 2 : Delete user from rpd if present
a)Launch admin tool and open rpd in OFFLINE Mode
b)Click Manage > Identity > Users tab to verify if you see this user present
Note : Normally you will only see list of users when you open rpd in ONLINE mode. Unless the users were created manually in rpd, no users should be visible in OFFLINE mode
c)If the user is present, delete this user entry from rpd
d)save rpd and deploy this changed rpd using EM
e)restart OBI Server component
f)relogin as the problematic user to see if you still see “Unable to Sign In” error
Step 3 : Delete the cacheduserinfo file from webcatalog
If Step1 and Step2 does not work, then do the following
Note : In the example below, catalog name is SampleApp and the user who gets “invalid Login” error is Administrator user.
a)Take a backup of your webcatalog
b)Navigate to C:\OBIEE11G\instances\instance2\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\catalog\SampleApp\root\users\Administrator\_prefs
c)Delete the files name cacheduserinfo and cacheduserinfo.atr
d)Launch OBIEE 11.1.1.3 and test by logging in as the specific user.
the best one is 3rd one.
but the above all methods also not working

Presentation services and BI server stopped

Hi,
Presentation service and BI server stopped with the following error.
“The description for Event ID ( 21 ) in Source ( Oracle BI Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: [47055] 30000 is too large for MAX_GLOBAL_CACHE_ENTRIES, and it is reset to default value, 10000..

Are multiple presentation services on a single server really unsupported?

Hello all,
I can hear everywhere that multiple presentation services on a single server are not supported by Oracle, but I can't find an official source stating this.
All I could get is this page where it is stated that it is not recommended (but not unsupported):

It is not recommened is what i can say,in simple words it gets jammed when you try to build a request from any of the services.
It is not supported cant be the reason,it has a work around to go and do that

There is no such official document saying about its support by oracle,but oracle wont support handling two servers in production as it is not legal and it is going against the product capabilities.I would suggest you not to go with it.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem. I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client. Guess what is happening?? That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening. This is incredibly frustrating. When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system. COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

Oracle biee presentation service is not starting

hi All,
Today i installed oracle biee on my machine(having windows vista) andreplaced all corresponding files (like .rpd file & catalog and modify the nqsconfig.ini & instanceconfig.xml files). but when i tried to start the oracle bi presentation service, it was not starting(though i already started the oracle bi server and java host service).
i got the following error prompt:
"Windows could not start BI Presentation server on local computer.
For more information,review the system event log.if this is non-microsoft service,contact the service vendor, and refer to service specific error code-1"
Then i again replaced all the files to the default one(paint.rpd and paint catalog) and again tried to restart the service but this time i got the "error : 1053 Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

Is oc4j running? otherwise start it form Start>All Programs>Oracle Business Intelligence>Start OC4J.
Then start Presentation services (sawserver.exe in the OracleBI/web/bin directory or from Control Panel>Administrative tools> Services
Then try the wbe URL

How to get report from BI Publisher in BIEE presentation services

Hello all, I have installed the BIEE and BI Publisher in the same host, and I have followed the configuration in the oracle biee install documentation, but when I want to access to the BI Publisher Enterprise or get the report from the BI Publisher in the presentation services, I will get the error saying cannot access to the BIP, do I need to do any further configuration or do I need to install any other component?

For me, it seems integration problem. Verify the following:
1. Are you able to login into BI Publisher Directly? If yes,
2. What Security Model being Setup in BI PUB? (You can verify this from xmlp-server-config.xml file)
3. If it is XDO or BI Server ==> Password Synchronization Steps between BI Preso Services and BI Publisher.
4. If it is BI Server ==> Create necessary roles in RPD..

Not able to start the Presentation services and BI Server

Hi,
My prsentation services has gone down, after the changed the default rpd and oped another rpd which was password lock. De-Commented the AUTHENTICATION_TYPE = BYPASS_NQS and restarted the BI Server and stopped it again, then logged into the rpd without any password and then changed the password and close the BI Admin tool and started the BI Server.
But now the presentation server is not starting."Could not start the BI Presentation Services on the Local Computer. For more information, review system event log....."
The instanceconfig.xml has the right path "<CatalogPath>C:/OracleBIData/web/catalog/xxx</CatalogPath>
the catalog is the same as what is mentioned in the NSQConfig.ini.
Never this this kind of error before.
Can somebody please help.

Sorry i had resolved it. Actually i had done some cryptotools for adding the Impersonator, and when i changed the RPD it gave me error bcos of that, i removed the entries from
credentialstore.xml and also from instanceconfig.xml and the Presentation Services where up.

Separating obiee server and presentation services via Web Logic Server

I'm attempting to Install OBIEE Server 11.1.1.3.0 on Linux (box A). I also am installing Web Logic Server 10.3.3 on Linux (box B) with the plan of deploying presentation services on WLS.
I originally did the following:
1. setup Repositoyr using RCU
2. Installed OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 using Enterprise Option.
3. Installed WLS 10.3.3
4. Began following this doc: http://www.obieetalk.com/deploying-obi-presentation-services-weblogic
---and the following questions arose as I was going through those steps:
a. when I start up the Weblogic configuration wizard. I get to step 8 and it asks me to configure the Administration Server.
--is that the Weblogic Server(box B)?
b. It then asks me to configure Managed Servers.
--That is the Weblogic Server, correct(box B)?
I skipped Configuring Clusters.
c. It then asks to Configure Machines.
--I'm not sure what to put here.
**I then proceeded to open up an SR and was given a "Here's the install guide" as a 'Solution Offered'.
Oracle then came back with you need to do a "Software Only" install of OBIEE
--On Box A or B? Because when I do that it asking where the WebLogic Server / Middleware Home is located.
So, I'm asking
1. do I do Enterprise, Simple or Software Only on Box A?
2. Install WLS first, and then follow the document( http://www.obieetalk.com/deploying-obi-presentation-services-weblogic ) on how to deploy the Presentation Services?
3. Which will lead me back to these questions:

Hi,
Is this the only error that you got in log files. Can you change the presentation catalog name and give it a try. Kill all the services. Start OC4J and then start the services.

OBI Presentation Services and Firefox 10?

I just upgraded my browser to Firefox 10 (from 9.0.1 I think?) and am getting a "Your browser is not supported by Oracle BI Presentation Services". Version 9 worked flawlessly (to my knowledge).
Anyone else getting that? I have a workaround (Chrome and IE still work) but I really enjoyed using FF with OBIEE.

I bumped into this because my Firefox updated itself. The Modify Headers Addon works for me, but I think it will be a bit beyond our users. I'm also worried about IE 10 now.
This reminded me of a thread on prohibiting iPads, and perhaps someone with more familiarity with presentation services can run with this (from http://groups.google.com/group/obiee-enterprise-methodology/msg/4ca8f8c0d74f1f43?pli=1):
BI EE Presentation Services now supports the following 3 tags.
+1. PermittedUserAgentType - The name field associated with the browser. This typically maps to filemap key names.+
+2. minVersion - The minimum version supported. This needs to be a string as browsers do things like 3.0b1.+
+3. maxVersion - The maximum version supported. This needs to be a string as browsers do things like 3.0b1. This should typically not be specified.+
These are there as part of the xsd of instanceconfig.xml.

Need share folder for more presentation service on one physical machine?

Dear gurus,
If I want to scale more presentation service instances on one physical machine, do I still need set the network share folder for the catalogs? Can I just specify a local disk folder for them ?

A further question is do you have best practice recommendations about the ratio between presentation service instances number with the java host instance number ? For e.g, 1:1?
I'm trying to set more instances of bi server/presentation services/java host to get better scale performance, while i can't determine the right ratio of them. One idea I can think out is watching the processes' resource costing, is that the only way? Have some experiences values? thanks!

Mail Service and one Opendirectory Master and two failed Replicas

Hi.
I'm experiencing a problem with the email service.
I have one OD master and 4 replicas connected via VPN Cisco Pix, everything was working fine until we receive the "new" G5 server to change the old g4 server.
My old G4 was the OD master and I was planning to change the G4 server to the G5 to be the new OD master, for that I follow some instructions in the forum and I connect the G5 as a replica of the G4 and after that I shutdown the G4 and I change the G5 to master ( I change the name and Ip address to ) and I rebuild all the replicas to the G5 and magically everything woks perfect after.
After two weeks we was having internet link problems with two of the replicas installed in other countries because of that the replicas was down for about two weeks.
After the reestablish of the internet links all the user with HOME DIRECTORIES in the replicas BUT with email in the OD master was not receiving any email, but in the email client they was not receiving any error, I check the postfix queue and I realize that all the emails was in the queue waiting for delivery and with error messages like "ltmp connection error" ( something like that ) and so on.
Checking the documentation from apple and forums and so on, I realize that the problem was the replicas , the log message in the Password Replica Service log was " Password Service Not Found" and I rebuild again this two replicas but the problem was there again.
Today I made a test with one account and I point the home directory to the OD master and ALL the email where send to the mailbox right away.
When I sow this I starting checking with the inspector in WGM to try to find a variable or any option to disable this problem and I realize that in the Config-passwordservice and in the replica list there is the old ip of the G5 before coming to be the master and another replica that doesn't exist.
My questions are :
1.- How can I clean this XML file to fix this ?
2.- Why the email service stop working even that the email service is in another server ( not the replica) ?
3.- There is a way to disable or change any option in any XML or Ldap file for this sync issue ?
4.- How can I redo the OD Master without lose the user/password list to have a clean XML configuration file ?( or the correct way to do this kind of changes )

I am not totally sure that error occurred by the authentication. But I suggest you can try to add this service into your project using this method below:
1.right click the Reference and select Add Service Reference
2.input your service link and click "Go"
And you can use this service as the following:

Evironment with two Netweaver systems and one BPC server

Hi there,
I heard it could be possible to use only one BPC microsoft server and direct one development/test netweaver system and one production NW system to exactly one BPC server?
Can I somehow define two instances on the BPC server? How about transport management?
We plan to implement BPC NW 7.0 or 7.5 if version is available in time.

I understood that you can access different BPC servers using one client. That would be achivable entering different servers withtin the connection wizard?
My question is if it would be possible to only have one physical .NET server and the dependent BPC client from where I can access two separate Netweaver servers (test/production). This would need something like a switch where the Netweaver system can be selected.
Reason is that my customer gets his servers hosted and wants to avoid to pay for two .NET servers.
To run development and production version of Netweaver on one physical system is not possible/recommended at all I heard.
