Urgent -Encypted file corruption while reading/Writing

Hello Friends ,
I am working on Encryption and Decryption using DES and ECB padding scheme. I am
encrypting a text file and storing the encrypted string in another dat file using
FileOutputStream.write(byte[]).We are storing the "Key" using ObjectOutputStream in another
dat file . Now the same file needs to be downloaded across network. we are doing so using a
servlet. The servlet uses RandomAccessFile.read(byte[] ,0,file.length()) to read the
encrypted as well as the Key file . This data is stored in a vector and sent to the Client
using the ObjectOutputStream.The Encrypted file is written using streams while downloading
into a dat file . When the same is decrypted, it gets corrupted . And if I simply copy And
Paste the files from Server to client instead of downloading on client it works.
Please help me out of the problem ..................

You will not get a warranty that your stream from the http server will be solid. You have to check the lenght of the data you've got from the server before you will decrypt it. I also use something like RetryBufferedStream to solve that problem (because stream from http may give you EOF just because of net timeout or bad connection).

Mutex shared lock while reading/writing files

My application is a single threaded application. And I am trying to do the read/write file operation. But there is a chance that other process may read/write the same file while i am using. So before reading or writing the file, i want to mutex shared
lock.
So can please some one tell me how to prevent this situation. Is there some sample code. I checked in net, how to use mutex shared lock, i got some example, but every where before using the mutex loxk, a thread needs to be created. Since my application is
a single threaded, so i dont want to create a new thread.
So please help me, how to prevent/stop other process to access the same file while my application is using.

That's not something that a mutex can help with. Other processes won't know about your mutex and even if they know that's overkill. Normally you simply open that file without allowing read/write sharing - in the case of CreateFile that in general means that
you pass 0 for the dwShareMode parameter.
If you use the C runtime functions then you can use fopen_s instead of fopen as it automatically disallows sharing if you open the file for write (if you open for read when it allows shared read which is the normal thing to do).

Help My Fla file corrupted while saving (System shut down while saving)

Hi everyone does anyone have any solution for this. I am using Adobe CS5 my week longs work of animation is all gone. I checked the forum for solutions and i found so many like updating my CS5 Software e.tc. I finally found one where they said u can convert ur fla file to a zip file. and check the library assets to see which one is corrupted but the problem is that i could find only one symbol in the libary folder where as i had about five symbols in the fla file. Pls I really need your help. The size before it was corrupt was well above 24mb but now all i can see is 13MB i really really hope i can resucue this file as i dont have any backups.

backups are always smart. use a naming convention that's convenient for you.
i use projectname_01.fla, projectname_02.fla etc. whenever you save, use a new name. it's not unusual for me to end-up with projectname_49.fla.
if you like tidy directories without lots of files, you can move older flas to and "old" or "previous_versions" subdirectory.

Regarding File Offset While Reading

Suppose I have a file with the string "HELLO" written in it. I now try reading it with
readBytes(AdobeArray,20,2) // But I dont get any EOF error inspite of reading the file from offset 20 which is well beyond the EOF offset for this file.
Why is it so ?

You don't mention any versions of software you are using. Which JDK is this? Are you using the default provider to do DES? You might want to query the bug database to check on RandomAccessFile, there were some issues there like this:

Error while reading/writing to serial port

I am trying to read/write to my serial port but
this message shows every time i launch the

1. Open the serial port at 2400 baud
2. Powers down the PT104 and wait 0.5 secs for this to settle
3. Flushes the serial power buffer to remove any power down acknowledgements in the serial buffer
4. Powers up the PT104 waits 1 sec for things to settle
5. Reads any bytes in serial rx buffer.
6. Power down the PT104
7. Close the COM Port.
This is a bit of a guess but this is how I would approach it. Can you try this and let us know how you get on?

Small size file can not read correctly on other linux

Hi, I am running archlinux 0.8 on my laptop, and there is another linux runs kernel version 2.6.20 with root filesystem of debian v3.1.
I wrote a shell script which reads a small, 49 bytes, only 1 line conf file on my archlinux, it works fine.
But if I copy script & conf files to debian, the script can not read conf file with:
while read f;do; echo $f; done < conf
but `cat`,`more` commands can read it. I have to open conf file with vi on debian and do nothing but :wq rewrite it to make script working.
Both arch & debian use ext3 file system. Could anyone tell me why? thanks.

I think your command is wrong: it works with zsh and doesn`t work in bash. Maybe you should remove extra ';'?

I tried to move my PE6 install and catalog to a new computer. It was on a Dell Windows XP machine, and I moved it to a Toshiba Windows 7 (64 bit) machine. I have always kept my photo files on an external hard drive. My photo library is 50GB, 10,000 files. Here is what I did.
Copied the original PE6 install file to the Toshiba. Installed but didn’t activate it.
Copied the entire My Catalog folder to the proper Windows 7 location.
Plugged the external drive into the Toshiba. Made sure the same drive letter as before (E).
Fired up PE6 on Toshiba. Looked good in Organizer. Everything seemed to be there, but I didn't try to make changes at that point.
Deactivated PE6 on the Dell. Activated on the Toshiba.
Then I realized that it is not right. I can edit Keywords and Rating stars on the pics, but not dates, captions or notes. I get “An error occurred while reading files or writing files to disc. The disc may be full or there may be problems with the source media.”
Only a fraction of the external drive is in use.
I can access the files on the external drive with another app (Windows Photo Viewer).
I tried Reconnect All Missing Files. Somewhat ambiguously, it says “There are no files to reconnect.”
In the properties in the Organizer for each picture are the proper file names and paths. Folder view works fine in Organizer.
I can put new files in the same external drive directories, import them into PE6, then edit them normally.
What is the easiest way to get Organizer properly connected to my files? I suppose I could reimport all the pics on the new machine, but I assume I'd lose some of my metadata. So that is out of the question.

Are you sure that file paths are correct? I say this because under XP they would have originally pointed to Documents & Settings/My Pictures whereas on W7 it will be User/Pictures, albeit you are using an external hd.
Take a look at this knowledge base note on the correct procedure for back-up and restore.
I think writing metadata to files for such a large catalog will be a thankless task.

Why am I getting the following error: An error occured while reading files or writing files to disc. The disc may be full or there may be a problem with the source media. I am running PSE10 on a iMac using OS X 10.7.3, my Mac has a 1TB hardrive of which about 150GB is used. I get this error when trying to delete a file out of the Organizer. The software worked fine until I installed it on my laptop, also a Mac, and tried to share files.

Hmm. What happens if you disable sharing, just as a test?
I don't think you can share organizer photos that way, since your versions don't really exist as images, just as a set of directions to organizer for recreate that state of your editing when needed, and you can't run organizer on a network drive, which is pretty much what you're trying to do if you mean you have PSE installed on the other computer and are tryng to use the same catalog for both.

Okay. I would suggest going to your username>library>preferences and deleting everything that is anything like com.adobe.Elements Organizer.plist. You will have more than one of these, one with the version number and possibly one with UUID in it. Also delete any lockfiles with the same names. While you're in username>library, also delete any saved application states for the organizer or PSE from your saved states folder. Then repair permissions and try again.
The username>library folder is hidden in lion. To make it visible, in the Finder click the Go menu and hold down the Option key. It will appear below the little house for your user account.

You would have to read it all in, write it all out again and write the new object. You're better off keeping the file open while you still have objects to write to it.

If you're not writing nulls, the correct technique is to loop until you get an EOFException. I don't favour explicitly writing a null just to get around this as suggested above, as it means you can never write a null for any other purpose.

Logic froze while I was working on something so I forced quit. Now every time I open LOGIC a message pops up that says:
"Error reading/writing file
“com.apple.logic.pro.cs”:
Logical end-of-file reached during read operation."
The only button option is cancel so I press it and another message appears that says:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
Do not save them, as you would overwrite the Preferences file with incomplete data."
Then when i close logic a box appears saying:
"The Preferences are not loaded completely.
Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?"
There are 3 button options to press; ok, cancel or dont save.
I press "don’t save" cuz I don't want to ruin anything.
I found a discussion located here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9564253#9564253 that says if I delete the file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" it will resolve the problem. If I do this will I loose or mess anything up at all, automation, saved channel strips customizations, saved effects, synth, or ultrabeat customizations etc? Or especially will I loose any work I've done? I have hundreds pieces of music files I've created. I'm scared to mess anything up with all the hours and months of work I've done. Is there anyway to fix this without loosing anything? I'm using Logic Pro 8.

You can safely delete this file - its the preference file for control surface settings - you haven't said whether you're actually using a control surface or not, if so, you will have to set it up again. A new file will be created when you fire Logic up again, but of course it will contain default settings. If you have a complicated control surface setup, remember to keep a backup copy somewhere in case any future problems arise.
Other than that, you really have nothing to be scared about - hopefully your problem is as simple as that and there isn't an underlying problem (a corrupt hard drive, for example). You seem concerned about losing work, so I guess you want to think about backing that up on a regular basis too. If you're saving your projects to your system drive, do get an external one for this. And also check that you have plent of free space on your system drive - you need to keep about a quarter or third of it free for your OS and programs to run properly (some temporarily stored files can be quite large).

Error while reading file entries from the database

Hi there,
We are running a instance of xmii 12 in a VM (VMware) and after somebody shutdown the host machine without shutting down the VM (great idea isn't it?) we keep getting this message when trying to access xMII:
"Application cannot be started.
Details: com.sap.engine.services.deploy.container.ExceptionInfo: Error while reading file entries from the database."
Any clue? Any suggestion on how we can recover from that?

Well thanks for the hint. Actually, the DB was up but corrupted. I managed to solve the bug by re-deploying xMII (using the SDM tool) which kept all my data but redeployed both the config db of (x)mii and the class files.

I have a requirement to read/write excel files in .xlsx format. I am good in doing it with .xls format using jxl.jar. The jxl.jar doesn't support .xlsx format. Kindly help me in understanding how do I need to proceed on reading/writing .xlsx files using Webdynpro for Java.

i am using jdk 1.6.22 and IBM WebSphere
when i use poi-3.6-20091214.jar and poi-ooxml-3.6-20091214.jar to read .xlsx file. but i am getting following errors
The project was not built since its classpath is incomplete. Cannot find the class
file for java.lang.Iterable. Fix the classpath then try rebuilding this project.
This compilation unit indirectly references the missing type java.lang.Iterable
(typically some required class file is referencing a type outside the classpath)
how can i resolve it
