Urgent - FileDialog behaviour in Mac OS

Hi
I have a Java Swing application which should allow the user to save data in a file using the FileDialog functionality. I find that on Windows, the application works properly i.e. it opens up a FileChooser window and one can enter the name of a file in which data is to be saved.
However on MAC, I am unable to do so. Unless the file already exists, I am not able to save data from the application into a file.
I would really appreciate a work around to this problem on a Mac.
It is part of a project which I have to present today evening. I really appreciate some guidance about this.
Thanks

JFileChooser has a save and an open dialog.
Maybe you did not explicitly use save.

• Strange behaviour in .mac web galleries

Hi,
I have started to use .mac web galleries with aperture 2. However, I am witnessing some very strange behaviour. Firstly, it seems to take forever to update, the icon at the side of the gallery is permanently on the 'update' icon.
Secondly, whenever I add new photos to the gallery it actually creates an entirely new gallery with all the photos from the previous gallery.
Is anybody else having issues with the aperture flavour of .mac web galleries?
thx
Phil

I have a similar problem Phil! I watch the status indicator for a web gallery progress to about half way then it stops, the album doesn't get published. I have published albums before this started happening, and have published other albums successfully but sometimes certain albums don't publish. I delete them and repost them to no avail. Hopefully we can get some answers! This is quite lame, don'tcha think?

• FileDialog crash on Mac (Panther)

Hi
I'm developing an application which uses FileDialog. It is working fine on Windows, but on Mac OS it crashes sometime, as soon as I click on open button selecting a file.

Please let me know the issue here.
Thanks in advance,
Vikas

I have the same problem (identical crash report). I
don't have a solution, but I'm sure it is not directly
related to the FileDialog. It happens in my
application, too, and also with actions that do not
involve a file dialog. I've posted to the java-mac-dev
list and let you know whether someone there has a
clue.
- Thomas
This is a hunch;
add a WindowListener to the Dialog and in WindowClosed() do a timed wait().
for say 200 MS.

• Curious behaviour on mac, iphone and ipad

Hi all,
i found a curious behaviour on my mac, iphone and ipad.
all devices trying to connect to the ip address 192.168.0.11. I'm not in this segment of ip address range. All devices are in the 192.168.44.x/24.
The funny thing is, that the source port (e.g. 192.168.44.70:56218) is trying to connect to the same port at the adress 192.168.0.11:56218
I've had never used this adress range of 192.168.0.0...
Can anyone tell me what this behaviour is for?
regards
softcake

How do you know this is happening?

• Different glass pane behaviour in Mac and Windows

I have an application with a glass pane containing a panel that is set non-opaque. On this panel I do amouse drag and draw a transparent rectangle when the mouse is released. On the main frame below there is a picture. This works fine on a Mac, I end up with a transparent rectangle on top of the bottom frame. However, when I run the same program on a Windows machine, as soon as the mouse is released, the rectangle is drawn and the glass pane layer gets opaque, hiding the picture below.
Any solutions?

I'd suggest you to post some code. ...>Some code is good, but an SSCCE is better. ;-)

• Need Urgent Help Cannot install Mac OSX 10.6 on 20" intel imac

I recently purchased an intel imac an intel mac pro from an auction. When i purchased the macs i was told that no operating systems will installed and i would need to purchase and install mac osx10.
I purchased the mac osx10.4.6 family pack from the apple store online.
i put the new disc in the mac and restarted holding down c.
for some reason nothing happens and i get folder with a question mark.
I have tried this several times but nothing seems to work.
I am a complete novice with macs and migrsting from pc.
thanks

You cannot buy a retail version of Tiger that will install on any Intel Macs. You must have the original installer discs that came with the computer. You should not have purchased the computers without them nor should they have been sold to you without them.
The only option you have is to call AppleCare or go to a local Apple store and see if you can purchase the discs needed for each computer (there are different versions for each model.)
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.

• URGENT:Expected behaviour when two buttons are clicked on a page?

Hello,
I have developed a search page. In the search results region, I have option to delete and update a record. What is the expected behaviour if I first click on the delete icon of one record and then click on the update icon of another record?
I am getting an error page starting with the following line : oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.NullPointerException.
Could anyone guide me about how I can correct this situation?
In Dev guide, I saw the section 'PPR Event Queuing'. They have mentioned the below lines in this section :
Note: To disable this feature, set the value of the profile FND_PPR_EVENT_QUEUE_DISABLED to Y. In this
case, when a PPR event fires, all subsequent events on the page are ignored.
Is it possible to set the profile FND_PPR_EVENT_QUEUE_DISABLED to Y in the PR of the search page? Or should I set the profile value through front end for the responsibility for which I'll be adding this search page?
Thanks,
Anju

• URGENT: Strange behaviour! Help!

Hi All.
When I run the enclosed program I am getting some strange behaviour. For instance, when I click on the EDIT button nothing happens, but when I click on the DELETE button everything is fine!
And I can also not run the code in edit() directly after add(). Nothing happens. PLEASE HELP ME. I am going mad because I cannot see what is wrong!
I want to run the code associated with the buttons to update my JTable. Please tell me if there is something wrong in the code.
As I say - it works fine when I click the DELETE button, but on the others it doesn't work.
Please tell me if you need more information!
HOPE TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE BEFORE I KILL MYSELF OUT OF FRUSTRATION!!!!

• Urgent 802.1x and MAC-Authentication Problem

Hi all
I want to deploy the mac- authentication in my network. and I have 3000 users. In the lab the authenticatoion for the machine takes:
Vista : 15 - 20 seconds
XP : 30 - 35 seconds
Is there any way to reduce this time less than 10 seconds. My users count are 3000 will the time go bigger because of this.
Please help me.
Thanks and Best Regards

With ACS, you can setup NARs (or Network Access Restrictions) to permit/deny access based on IP/non-IP based filters (like MAC Addresses).
Specific info is here:

• Urgent Help to Startup Mac OS lion

Every time I go to startup my mac I get the following error:
panic(cpu 1 caller 0xffffff7f807b4ce7) : CPU 1 has no HPET assigned to it
How can this be fixed?
Please help.

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t run Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer. https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

• Urgent help; is my mac dead?

My mac crashed so i switched it off and turned it back on to see a no entry sign. i have tried to put it in safe mode and single user mode and they dont work. i tried to reset the PRAM or whatever and that didnt work. i used a firewire to transfer my files to another mac. i have tried disk utility on the installation disk but it doesnt bring up my mac as an option to repair. i also tried to reinstall but there is no drive on the list to install on. is it dead?

Sounds like the drive is dead.
It will have to be replaced.
Do you have any backups?
If not, you are going to lose everything.

• URGENT: Strange behaviour by Web Dynpro applications

Hi,
We are running NW04s SP8 Portal and WAS and we are developing all our applications with Web Dynpro JAVA.
As our most of the applications are with multiple views, we are keeping one Web Dynpro view as default.
The applications run perfectly for a while. But, after running the same application for 5-6 times, the Web Dynpro application will start opening the "non-default" view as the first view. If we re-deploy the same application, it would work for a while and again the problem will start coming.
I have been working with Web Dynpro JAVA since 2.5 yrs, I havent come across this kind of error. I mean, it is the basic thing in Web Dynpro to set the default view for starting the application.
Can anyone please throw some light on this behaviour? or Is it related to some bug in Web Dynpro framework?
Thanks and Regards,
Mausam

hi,
I have never faced or heard anything like that, it is really strange.
But can you just check if it has anything to take with cache, i mean like what often happens in internet explorer.
May be it is storing non-default views in cache and picking up those..
It may be like babbling but whats wrong in trying.
regards,
abhijeet

• Different behaviour on Mac/Win

Hello,
I'm currently working on a Creative Suite Extension, which will show a collection of images on a panel (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).
I need the application's path in a few javascript files and I'm getting weird problems on our testing-Mac. I have reduced the code to as few lines as possible, to show the problem.
Currently I'm using Photoshop CS5.1, Flash Builder 4.6 and Extension Builder 1.5 on my windows machine.
This is the code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
initialize="initializeHandler()">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import com.adobe.csawlib.photoshop.Photoshop;
import com.adobe.photoshop.*;
protected function initializeHandler():void
var app : com.adobe.photoshop.Application = com.adobe.csawlib.photoshop.Photoshop.app;
if(app.path)
myLabel.text = app.path.nativePath;
else
myLabel.text = "app.path was null";
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox height="100%" width="100%" verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="center">
<mx:Label id="myLabel"/>
</mx:VBox>
</mx:Application>
On my Windows machine myLabel shows the installation directory's path. On our Mac app.path is null, so it does not work.
I have tried many different approaches to solve this, but it doesn't work yet. Here are some ideas of what I tried so far:
- Get the path in Javascript instead using app.path.fsName (app.path is null on Mac in Javascript too, at least when it's called by the initialzeHandler)
- Put a timer in the initializeHandler, wait 10 seconds and try to get the path then (not a good idea and app.path is still null)
- Put a button on the panel that executes the initializeHandler instead. (app.path is working, but I need this to work without user interaction).
Can somebody enlighten me please?
Btw. I'm a developer trainee so it is likely that there is a simple solution or an obvious mistake, feel free to point them out.

Hi,
for what is worth, with Extension Builder 2.0 (Flash Builder 4.5.1) on OSX Lion, the following works:
package
import com.adobe.csawlib.photoshop.Photoshop;
import com.adobe.photoshop.*;
public class ZPhotoshop
public static function run():void
var app:Application = Photoshop.app;
if(app.path) {
trace("App path is: " + app.path.nativePath);
} else {
trace("null path");
(this is in the .as file that EB creates by default)
The result is:
App path is: /Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS6

Davide

• Strangfe behaviour of Mac Pro

I will try to be as cklear as possible:
I use my Mac Pro mostly for video editing.
I open the program and work on the clips, export and the clip goes in an export bin and one-by-one will be transcoded.
Since recently, when I have - lets say about 8-10 clips in the bin, whenever I click on a new clip, the spinning wheel takes a very long time to stop so I can continue.
Even after the export bin is empty and all clips heve been transcoded, when I click on a new clip, the spinning takes still a long long time.
I might understand, if the CPU has to work full power, it can not accept more, but when the job is done (even the activity monitor shows very little activity, the wheel still spins.
I am having 16 GB of RAM and that should be enough for my transcoding.
Usually, when I turn off and let it cool down for a while, it works normal again.
