URGENT - Forcing a custom locale in the BC4J/JBO framework

Hi,
How can I force a locale in the JSP/JBO framework, something similar to:
alter session set nls_territory =
or
alter session set nls_date_format =
I tried to get the SessionImpl and forced a new Locale, but it seems it is in the JBOimpl first set, so anything I tried had no success.
Please please advise !

But this doesn't solve the problem. Calling alter session will change how numbers and dates are rendered by the database, but the business components still store them as Numbers and Dates, rendering them in their own way. How do we change the way jbo.domain.Numbers and jbo.domain.Dates are rendered as String?

How to force a Custom Layout in the links sent by e-mail ?

Hi everyone,
For customizing the final user´s view for Discussion Groups,
I created a custom Layout Set "myDiscussionGroupsContributor"
that references a custom Collection List Renderer
"myDiscussionGroupWithoutTopicsContributorCollectionListRenderer"
that references a custom Command "my_join_discussion_thread_contributor"
that has a custom Layout Set assigned "mySingleDiscExplorerContributor".
When accessing the discussions via the final users it works fine
(I´ve already corrected the "Back" link problem acording thread
problem with discussion group contributor iview)
The problem is that when I send a discussion via e-mail
to another user using the "send to" command,
the received link opens the discussion using the default
"DiscussionGroupsContributor", in fact, the e-mail´s HTML code
contains the property "rndLayoutSet=SingleDiscExplorerContributor"
as noted in the following href element:

I solved the problem, so here I post the steps for the solution I found.
1) Modify the Object Type Definitions:
In the CM Repository there is a folder root > etc > oth.
There you have to change the LayoutSet settings in the following files
(I don´t know if it is necessary to modify all of them):
     - discussion_post.oth
     - discussion_topic.oth
     - discussion.oth
     - discussiongroups_items.oth
     - discussionPostType.oth
     - discussionType.oth
     - dscGroupsCollType.oth
     - dscGroupsItemsType.oth
2) Then you have to reload de OTH settings:
In the Content Management configuration (System Administration >
System Configuration > Content Management)
go to User Interface > Debugging Settings and edit the configuration.
Add your user id to "UI Superusers" then enable
"Enable Rendering Information" and save.
Then go to a KM and clic on "Rendering Information"
(If the link doesn´t appear, refresh your window).
A new window opens, clic in "OTH-Overview"
and then in the new window click on "Reload".
Finally close all popup windows and go to the
Debugging Settings again to disable the checkbox
"Enable Rendering Information"

Custom Login using the Pluggable Identity Management Framework

Hi all,
We are trying to establish 2 ways into our application:
1. via a login form
2. seamless login from an external application
To achieve this we are trying to build our own custom authentication using the pluggable IDM framework.
Basically if a secure page is requested, we want to check the header/cookie/request (don't mind which) for a key which is provided by the external application. If present, the key is validated against a web service provided by the external app, the identity is asserted and the user is entered seamlessly into the application. If the header/cookie/request does not contain a key the user is to be redirected to a login page, where they can input username and password which will be validated against our database.
We've created a Token Collector and Token Asserter class, we've modified our custom Login Module to retrieve the identity created by the Token Asserter but we haven't worked out how to get the alternate login page working for users which don't come through the external application.
Has anybody built anything similar? From the documentation it appears we should be able to achieve our goal using the pluggable IDM, but we're going around in circles a bit at the moment.
Any help/sample code would be greatly appreciated.

Can you tell why the page is not working? I mean, any errors ? What happens when you try to open the protected resource?

Other than what Shotist007's remarks (which solves nothing) your experience is not common. First I would speak to the store manager to get things rectified for you. If that doesn't work out then I would contact AppleCare and speak to a customer service representative and complain via that venue.

Error message when trying to view a VO in the BC4J viewer

Below is an error message I am getting when trying to run my Application Modual in test mode via the BC4J viewer. When I click my VO I get this message. I only get this when my VO is tied to a EO that has data in the table. I have created a VO based on a custom sql statement and that one does not give an error when I select it in the BC4J viewer to look at. Any ideas what I am doing incorrectly?

How to determine which locale uses the specific process

Hi,
I would like to get to know which locale uses the specific process.
I mean that when the process starts it should use the current system locale.
Where I can check that information which locale are used by the running process?
I ask because I would like to make sure that for example when the locale are French or Japanese the process/deamon use the current locale.

I am trying to create workflow and wants to integrate it with my custom jsp but i am facing problem in integrating my custom jsp with the workflow engine.Can you please answer the following questions:
1)how to link BPM human task with my custom jsp (Requester jsp).
2)how my custom jsp data(Requester data) will be stored in workflow engine and how the same data will be visible to the next custom jsp(Reviewer jsp).

you forgot to add the usage dependency in the DC metadata section in your DC, you have to add the XSS~utils and fpm as a used DC's as part of your DC, try to add those, if you already done that, so check where missed the adding of used webdynpro components in any of the VAC's or FC's,

How can I reuse the BC4J database connection?

How can I reuse the BC4J database connection?
I want to use the application module connection without opening another in a custom code. At this level I canât access de ADF code, thatâs why I canât get the DBConnection from the application module.
Now, I have a âdata-sources.xmlâ in my project and the application module is configured to access the database from this xml file.

I found the solution in other Forum. I worked ok.
Here the code:
If the Connections-Navigator connection is DBConnection1, the corresponding datasource is jdbc/DBConnection1DS.
1. Create a JSP page.
2. In the web.xml of the JSP add

How to force JTree to not display the leaves

Is there anyway to force JTree to not display the "end nodes" so to speak.
What I want is that if a node is a leaf and is not allowed to have children
I do not want the JTree to display them.
I need this to build a component for a custom file system view like Windows Explorer
which contains a tree with folders on the left and and contents of the currently selected( expanded)
folder on the right. But Explorer does not display any files in the left pane, only folders.
So I need to implement the same in my component

How Does EJB 2.0 Specification Change the BC4J?

I had read the while paper of BC4J thoroughly. The following statement interested me:
"As Oracle9iAS, WebLogic, and other J2EE application server vendors begin to rollout complete support for the new EJB 2.0 specification in the first half of 2002, a new release of the BC4J framework will be released which includes support for the new local entity beans. This work entails enhancing our lightweight, local entity classes to support the necessary interface to be lightweight EJB 2.0 Local Entity Beans. ...."
I have searched all the documents about BC4J, but I couldn't find anything more about "How Does EJB 2.0 Specification Change the BC4J?"
I think the "Local EJB Entity Beans" is similar with BC4J DAO. So is there someone who can tell me how does EJB 2.0 Specification change the BC4J?

We support using local CMP entity beans as your persistence layer for your entity objects, but as it adds an extra layer, it's turned out (in all honesty) to not be that popular a feature.
The performance offered by the simpler BC4J entity object (plain old java class) is fine, and the notion of using simple java beans for your model is widely recognized as a fine option for J2EE applications.
For example, check out Rod Johnson's book called "Expert one-to-one: J2EE Design and Development" which covers this subject excellently.

Add custom local group with similar power as Windows BUILTIN\Administrators group

In windows 7 or windows 8
Is there any possibility to create a custom Local group having the same power/privileges as it does the BUILTIN\Administrators group.
If yes; how?
For instance: I created a new local group, then in Local Security Policy(secpol.msc) \Security Settings\Local Policies\User Rights Assignments I added all the available policies where the Administrators group was also there, then I create a normal
local user and assigned this new customized group, however the user never obtained the sufficient power as it does a user from Administrators group.
Can anyone help?

[NIO] custom messages from the netwerk

Yes this is another NIO question :)
Ok I have the following situation, I've got a NIO server which reads custom messages from the netwerk. These messages consists of an interger and then a variable byte array.
int -> length of the message
byte array -> data of message (could be anything)
On my local network it works fine because I don't have to worry about my read() not reading all the bytes the client send. So I can just use the ByteBuffer.getInt() to read the int and create a buffer for the byte array etc.
But... on the intenet there is no garentee all the bytes are read. So if only the first 3 bytes of the whole message are in my read buffer and I call the getInt() I'll get an exception.
How would you fix this? The only garentee is that I will always have 1 byte (except when a connection is closed or other error)
I could create of small bytebuffer of 4 bytes and wait till it's full and then read the int, but what if I also have a length that can consist out of like 5 or 6 bytes... and I don't know by forehand if it's 4 or 5 or 6... or just 2...
Any idear would be welcome... or even code if you have the time...

Use ByteBuffer[] { lengthField, dataField } as a structure for messages. Set the size of the length field statically as part of the protocol. Set dataField's limit to 0. Do readsinto this structure (there is an appropriate read method for an array of ByteBuffers) until there lengthField.remaining() == 0. At this point, read the int/long/whatever from lengthField and set dataField's limit to that. Then do the reads necessary until dataField.remaining() == 0. At this point, you'll have your whole message.
The reason that I say "do reads" is that on any particular read you may only get one byte's worth of data. Therefore you have to hold this partially completed message in some variable, or as an attachment to the SelectionKey which was selected. As the Channel continually gets selected for OP_READ, you can do the above steps, and if there's not enough left in the channel, you just leave the message partially completed for the next OP_READ. Once it's complete, you do what you need to with it, and replace the attachment or variable with an empty ByteBuffer[] of the above format.

Ho to install the "BC4J Enterprise Manager Bean" in Application Server 10g

I'd like to monitor my BC4J Application installed on a 10g Application Server. According to the help system I can find this information on the Enterprise Manager Website of the 10g Application Server: open the OC4J (not "home" in my case), open "Administration" tab, click on link "BC4J". After entering the OC4J Admin password you should come to a page where you can monitor BC4J-Pools and so on.
If I try this on my (custom created) OC4J I get an error message that I should install the "BC4J Enterprise Manager Bean". What is this? I installed the BC4J.EAR Application, but to no avail. However: It works well on the default OC4J "home", but unfortunately my application is on a different OC4J :(
Can anyone give me a hint, how to install the "BC4J Enterprise Manager Bean"? Can anyone point me to some documentation on this?

BC4J Enterprise Manager Bean is the bean to manage the bc4j framework in the oc4j instance. By default, it is only pre-installed by home instance. For all other instances, you have to do it yourself.
You can use the EM to deploy this bean to the oc4j instance you want, the ear file is located in your iAS_HOME\BC4J\oem directory.

When CUSTOM.pll contains a call to a package that in turn calls a remote package, the CUSTOM.pll compile hangs forever.

It doesn’t work if you are calling SYNONYM on remote database. It works, for calls to tables or procedures or packages in remote database if that object is OWNED DIRECTLY by the account to which dblink is connecting to.

The database link is created under the APPS user in the local database but connects to a different user (SWCS_ICE_SUPCHAIN) in the remote database.
The user in the remote database does not own any objects. It only has synonyms to objects owned by apps and others.
Incidentally, the hang also happens when trying to describe the remote package from the application tier (8.0.6.3 sqlplus) but the describe works fine from the DB tier (10gR2 sqlplus).
