Urgent Help: Lite Custom Install

I wish to integrate Oracle Lite into my Web application. What I intend to do is write my own installation script for 8i Lite and only install the minial 8i Lite runtime, so customer can download the files and auto-run the installation
Do you have any idea on how to write my own installation script.(i.e. replace the Oracle Installer) and what are the componenets to have a minial database. any comments and Web Link would be appriciated.
Is it also possible for Oracle 8i, I can't afford a large database installation.

You don't need do it by yourself. Oracle 8i Lite - Web-to-go component will do that automatically for you. Web-to-go will install the Oracle Lite database on client side, sync the data and applications between client and server. It supports seamlessly online/offline. Go to http://www.oracle.com/mobile for detail.

What are "CPU Help Files" (custom install)?

I did a custom install, since I don't need the extra languages, only need some printer drivers, etc. One of the optional items is "CPU Help Files". The details field just echoes "CPU Help Files", with no explanation of what these are, why I would/not want them, etc. Does anyone know?

URGENT help required : Custom Authentication Plugin for validation of users

Hi Experts.
I'm a newbie and am stuck in middle of nowhere.
I have been asked to develop a custom authentication plug-in which would validate a user using the attributes such as a userid and a shared-userid.
shared-userid is just a custom id that would be generated on the basis of some logic.
Currently I'm using OAM 10.1.4.3.0 on WINDOWS server and as everybody, I'm also not able to find any sample files or sample folder structure.
As per one of the other threads https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3838474, sample code and sample folders are removed from this particular version and were present in some previous version.
So, can anyone please help me out with the following:
1. How can I proceed to accomplish this task, i.e. to check whether a user-id and a shared-userid both are validated and a user is granted access.
2. Are all of these files required to create a custom authentication plug-in or can we proceed only with the ".c" file (i.e. make file, authn.c, and a dll file made using the make file and .c file)
3. Can anybody provide me with a sample file or a sample code written in "C" wherein the plug-in connects to the LDAP and searches for a particular dn for comparison or something. Also a sample make file for windows to convert the .c file to .dll.
PLEASEEEE help me ASAP.

Hi,
Regarding question 2, you also need the header file is supplied in the Access Server installation directory, under ...access\oblix\sdk\authn_api and is called authn_api.h. you need this to build the dll which must then be placed in the Access Server's ...\access\oblix\lib directory.
Regarding question 3, if you install an earlier version of the Access Server, ie 10.1.4.2 or less, then you will get a \access\oblix\sdk\authentication\samples\authn_api directory that contains a basic sample authentication plugin. However, there is still documented in the 10.1.4.3 Developer Guide another sample plugin, simplapi.c, in the 10.1.4.3 Developer Guide with instructions on how to use it. It does work, but unfortunately requires a couple of edits to get it working after copy&pasting it (no code changes, just fairly obvious case changes eg changing ObanPlugin* to ObAnPlugin*). I used the following commands to get it to compile into a .so file on unix:
g++44 -c -fPIC -Wno-deprecated -m32 simpleapi.c
g++44 -shared -nostdlib -lc -m32 simpleapi.o -o simpleapi.so
but I really would not know if or how these translate into a Windows environment.

Urgent Help on Custom Periods

HI all,
I have requirement where i have to maintain master data in BW for custom periods created in R/3 based on a special fiscal year variant.I have an idea to create a characterstic based on some date characterstic but i am not sure which datre characterstic i have to take for reference.
I think with the help of some date functions i can get the periods into BW from transfer rules/update rules.
Please provide the solution ASAP as i am at crucial stage.

Hi Pavan,
I think you need only to upload this special fiscal variant !
Go to source system, righ-click on it and transfer global settings...in this way you will have on fiscal variant, period and so on the same situation you already have in your R/3...(and you can continue to use the std object only by selecting the right fiscal variant)

Thanks for the reply Rohini.
The SYS password is change_on_install and SYSTEM password is manager. It still causes the same problem. The database I am using is an Oracle 8i database which is automatically created while installing Oracle 9iAS.
I also tried to install Oracle Portal on an Oracle 9i Database on the same machine and this comes out with a different error. It tells me the SHARED_POOL_SIZE is less than 31457280 whereas as I checked through SQL*Plus its actually much more than that!
Can you please help?

Why don't you just add 0.1.

eh?
Unless this is a major/minor version number, where you'll have to handle it as a string to ensure 1.1 != 1.10.

Urgent Help Needed: ATI Graphics Card install

Hello All.... I am in need of some urgent help..
I am trying to install a new graphics card - the ATI Radeon 9600 SE. I currently have a Voodoo3 card. I followed all of the instructions step by step, but when I plug the monitor to the Radeon card and boot up, I do not get any display. I have tried everything I can think of, and yet - I am sure the card is secured in place and the monitor is plug into the card.
Can anyone help me on this one.. ATI's support is, well - lacking..
Here is some info on my pc:

Urgent help!!!!!!Regarding the Credit Memo for oracle project customer invoices

Can somebody help me in this issue
we have a requirement from the users that they dont want the system to apply
the credit memo automatically on the invoice when it released from the projects
Scenario1: Invoice already been paid now they want to create a credit memo,
system dont allow them to cancel the invoice the only way as per the theory is
create a negative invoice and adjust it but the issue here is when ever you
create a negative invoice it creates as invoice not credit memo which will be
confusing to the users.
in this case can we use billing extension to create the transaction type as
credit memo when ever the invoice has negative amount?
Or let me know if there is a way to perform this step?
Scenario2: Invoice is created but they dont want to create a credit memo
against that invoice since it gets applied automatically, the customer
requirment will be they want to apply the credit memo for any future invoices
as requested

what is credit memo on accoutn how it works with these above scenarios.

Hi,
For Scenario 1 you have two options:
1) Update the AR transaction type extension for project invoice- Identify negative amount invoice and change the transaction type to project credit memo. This will update the transaction type on negative invoices before they are interfaced to Oracle AR.
This is preferred option
2) Update AR invoice Pre-processor to do the same thing.
There is no standard setup which will allow you to change trx type of negative invoices.
For Scenario2 - I dont think there is any direct way to create a credit invoice from Projects and keep it unapplied (again, apart from creating a negative amount invoice). You can create a credit memo in AR and use it to apply against future invoices.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmyrmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
You may be advised by others to try to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name, or by running "utilities" that purport to remove software. I don't give such advice. Those tactics often will not work and maymake the problem worse.

Factory Sound Custom Install Help!!!

Hi People, so still can't work out this "volume does not exist" problem while trying to load certain samples from the EXS24 and can't seem to get any info on how to fix it, so I want to reinstall the "Factory sounds" from the Logic Install Disk. I am concerned that a full install of the Factory Sounds may overwrite my synth patches and sampler instruments however. If I choose "Custom Install" and then click on "Factory Sounds" show and highlight the EXS24 Sampler Instrument folders and install, will only the highlighted (Sampler) folder be installed. Help would be greatly appreciated. Hugo.

After a lot of issues (seed db, tns errors, no autostart db, ...) and solved by posts found here,
The new database is mounted and working in console mode and Ole DB/Odbc.
In the custom script, here are the two Data Dictionnaries packages I've used :

@%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\catalog.sql ;
@%ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\catproc.sql ;
I'm looking for the package name to install for using Apex (http://locahost:8080/apex) like initial instance XE.

But the instructions for installing Apex are in the Apex home page. Go to http://otn.oracle.com and drill to the Apex home page by going to Products:Development Tools (left edge) and finding Application Express on that resulting page.
If you are going to potentially violate your agreement or leave the system in an unreliable state, why not simply use the Enterprise Edition?

Need Urgent Help in PM8M-V H problem - keyboard freeze

I'm a newbie in this forum and I really need urgent help with my motherboard.

USB mouse, PS/2 Keyboard
I really appreciate if anyone can help to guide me in solving my problem. My keyboard tends to freeze at the part where it says "Press any key to boot from CD". This limits me to do anything until I'm totally loaded into Windows. Thus, disable me to perform any formating and fresh installation of OS. However, the keyboards works fine at the begining of the POST and in BIOS. Is there any settings in BIOS that i should perform?.....
However, I realise in order to get through the foresaid message without the the keyboard freeze up is by keep on trying to boot up and shut down until it works (but only work once, then hv to try again), but this is not a solution as if what if I wanted to have 2 OS?... I cant use the keyboard to choose either of the OS installed. I have tried to change the RAM, change keyboard, use the build in VGA, or even remove the motherboard from the ATX casing - result: still have the same problem. What should I do??.. I have look around the forum for answers but there isnt any (I hope I didnt miss any). Is there any problem with my motherboard, or its BIOS, or any of the harware compatibility or etc..... what actually can I do?
I do not dare to perform any BIOS update Unnecessary (it seems that many have problems with BIOS problem in this forum) and moreover i think my BIOS is the most up-to-date. I cant find any new version in the net. Anyway I will check this topic frequently as possible to hope for any solution. What is the best solutions?

I get ORA-12500 error when trying to connect oracle instance. This problem begin to arise only when number of sessions reach a number about 200. At the same time there is no definite boundary for it. Once it happened when there were 216 session, then 196, then 206.
There rarely (1/100) I get ORA-12514 and after again ORA-12500. Once I got ORA-12600.
What it might be you think? It can't be a problem in listener.ora or in tnsnames.ora because it works fine if number of sessions is about 100. It tried to restart tnslistener (from lsnrctl and the service) and restarted database (but not the service). I did it different in sequences, but didn't help. What should I do? Is it a known bug?
