[URGENT] Hide Calc Script in Planning a Production Server

<p>Hello,</p><p> </p><p>How can i hide for users the essbase calculation scripts in anHyperion Planning application using Shared services mode.</p><p> </p><p>Thinks for help.</p>

Hi,
You dont need DI installed in your production system (EPP) You can use DI of developement box.
Regarding SLD there are several scenarios for it
1. you can have a central SLD for all your system (most common scenario)
2. Seperate SLD for DEV/QA and for production (used to safegaurd the production system)
3. Separate SLD for NWDI (NWDI makes use of SLD as name server during design time)
Please check the SLD planning guide under http:

  • Planning BW Production Server Data Patchup

    Hi Folks,
    My  BW Production Server was down for few weeks and we could able to fix the problem, Now we want to load the data that was not loaded since the production server was down (about 2 weeks of data should be loaded on the production server).
    Please advice a proper plan to upload the 2 weeks data.
    Thank you,
    Jay

    Hi Jay,
    it's not the right forum for this question. Data warehousing would be right.
    Anyway, your question can not be answered fully. There are many possible dependencies. Check note <a href="http://service.sap.com/~iron/fm/011000358700000431401997/0731682">731682</a> and related notes.

  • Can "Planners" run calc script from the Planning web?

    This is probably a really naive question.
    However, can planners run a simple calc script(created in Essbase/AAS) from Workspace/Planning Web? If so what access would they be need to setup in Shared Service?
    Or do we have to convert the calc script into a Business Rule and then grant access to the users?

    John,
    Here are the roles that i assigned my user and he can view/launch the calc scripts from Planning Web without actually being an admin( i think)
    Analytic Servers : server access
    Business Rules: Administrator
    Planning App : Interactive User
    APS : Provisioning Manager
    I would also like to conver the calc script to a BR as suggested, but not sure why i see no users available in the Business Rules-> administration tab.
    As indicated above, the use has been provisioned as a BR admin!
    Also, i tried refreshing the app with filters, refreshing the user list from BR->admin(right mouse), de-provision and re-provision the user! Any ideas??

  • Cannot run calc script from Analyzer

    I just did an upgrade from 6.5 to 6.5.1 and I am unable to run one calc script on a particular database. I can run other calc scripts, just not this one. I get no error message or anything, I can keep clicking the calc button, but it does not run.Strangely, when I click the calc button, Analyzer puts a text file in the directory \\analyzer\appserver\bin with the user name (ex. gcrisci.txt) When you open this file, it is the calc script from Essbase I was attempting to run.I recall running into a problem like this in the past due to the size of the calc script. I thought the solution was to go into Analyzer.properties file and increase the MaxDataCellLimit values. The default is 50000, I've increased it up to 500000 with no resolution. So, I'm thinking maybe this isn't the fix.Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?Thank you.

  • Restrict Planning Admin from seeing all Essbase calc scripts

    Hi - I have a few ppl who are Administrators on Planning and they see all of my calc scripts in Essbase. Is there a way to block them from seeing them? I have those calc scripts to run things that they do not need to run.
    I am using Planning 3.5.1, Essbase 6.5
    Thanks,
    Cindy

    Hi Cindy,
    I assume the calc scripts you want to block from the Planning Admin's are within the applications they are administrators of correct?
    The only way I can think to do this is to place these in another directory on the server or on a share you have access to and use Esscmd scripts to execute them in a batch function.
    e.g.
    RUNCALC 3 C:\SERVER_DIR\mycalcs\calc
    Presuming the directory were on your essbase server and you schedule this on your essbase server.
    This assumes your Planning Admins do not have access to your Essbase server. Of course if this were unix the path to the script would be different.
    You could also only have the scripts on your local machine.

  • Fixing the calc script in FDM Planning adaptor

    Hi All,
    I have run into a issue with the load action in the planning adaptor ES9x-G4-A. By default, when the adaptor loads data into essbase it fixes using the script
                                       '*** CALC SCRIPT ***
                                            'NOTE: CALC SCRIPT CAN BE MODIFIED For Each CUSTOMER
                                            'Clear the intersection of (Category, Period, Entity)
                                            strClear = "Fix(""" & strTCat & """,@Idescendants(""" & strCurEnt & """))" & vbcrlf
                                            strClear = strClear & "CLEARDATA """ & strTPer(0) & """;" & vbcrlf
                                            strClear = strClear & "EndFix"
    The issue with this is that it doesn't fix on year, meaning that data loaded with a replace will wipe the same period across every year. Does anyone know what the year variable is to set the fix correctly? I can't find it in any of the documentation, for 9.3.1 or 9.2
    Thanks.
    KMacintosh

    Hi,
    {color:#000000}Try updating the load script to be :-
    {color}{color:#ff0000}strTargYear = API.POVMgr.fPeriodKey(CStr(strPer(0))).strTargetYear
    '*** CALC SCRIPT ***
    'NOTE: CALC SCRIPT CAN BE MODIFIED For Each CUSTOMER
    'Clear the intersection of (Category, Period, Entity)
    strClear = "Fix(""" & strTargYear & """,""" & strTCat & """,@Idescendants(""" & strCurEnt & """))" & vbcrlf
    strClear = strClear & "CLEARDATA """ & strTper(0) & """;" & vbcrlf
    strClear = strClear & "EndFix"
    Cheers

  • Calc scripts running very Long time

    Hi All,
    Recently, i am migrated the objects from Production to Test region. We have 5 applications and each of the application has a set of calc scripts.
    In test region, they are running really long time. Where as in Production, they run for less time.
    In TEST region each Calc script is taking 10 times more time than the Production times.
    No Dimension added or no script is updated. No difference in objects between TEST and PROD.
    Please suggest me, why is this difference.
    Thanks
    Mahesh

    The obvious first question would be if the hardware is different. You would expect prod to be a more powerful server and therefore perform better.I'm seeing a lot of virtualized test servers (who knows, really, what power the box has) and real prod servers. That can make a huge difference in performance.
    It makes benchmarking tough -- yes, you can see how long something will take relative to another process, but there isn't any way to know how it will perform in production until you sneak it over there and benchmark it. It can be a real PITA for Planning.
    And yes, the theory is that dev and prod are similar so that the above isn't an issue, but that seems to be a more theoretical than actual kind of thing.

  • LCM Migration : Calc scripts not available

    Hello,
    We are using LCM for the first time. It is working correctly, except for calc scripts.
    For one Planning application, in Hyperion Shared Services when we collapse the Plan type the folder Calc scripts is empty. But we have calc scripts for this application, we can see them in Essbase Administration services (we use them as well)
    Why those calcs scripts won't appear in HSS?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    EPMA is installed but unused.
    The modification of the database will be done in last resort. Meanwhile we are going to
    - use LCM to export the plan type
    - use LCM on development environment to export Attribute Dimensions, Calc Scripts, Rule Files et Subsitution Variables
    - modify the xml files to rename the plan type
    - delete the plan type misnamed (knowing that the app only have one plan type, I do not know if that's even possible...)
    - reimport it with the correct name (and export from the development environment anything that is missing from the LCM of production)
    Does it seem a good solution to correct this error ? (maybe import the correct plan type before deleting the problematic one?)

  • @ATTRIBUTESVAL works properly in Calc script but not in Member Formula.

    We are using Essbase 11.1.2 –
    "Global_Period" is a Dynamic Calc Member. Below is its Member Formula:
    "ProjType " is an attribute (text) dimension.
    "Global_Period" ="ValidAccount";
    IF (@ISLEV ("Total_Expenses", 0) AND @ISMBR("HSP_InputValue") AND @ISLEV ("Version",0) AND
    @ISMBR("No_GL_Account") AND @ISLEV ("Scenario",0) AND @ISLEV ("Years",0) AND @ISMBR ("Local")
    AND @ISLEV("Tot_Org",0) AND NOT @ISIDesc ("Service_Division") AND @ISLEV("Tot_PRJ",0) )
    "Global_Period"->"No_GL_Account"-> @CURRMBR ("Projects") =
    1* "ValidAccount"->"Global_Version" ->"Global_Scenario"->&Budget_Year->"Global_Entity"->
    "No_GL_Account"->"HSP_InputValue"->"Local"->
    @MEMBER(@NAME(@CONCATENATE ("Proj_",@ATTRIBUTESVAL("ProjType"))));
    ENDIF
    The above Member- Formula is failed to work when opening a Data Form that contain "Global_Period".
    The error messages in the log file are as follow:
    [Thu Mar  1 16:55:39 2012]Local/Projects/Plan1/admin@Native Directory/1122748736/Error(1200370)
    Error executing formula for [Global_Period] (line 1): attempt to cross a null member in function [@X]

    Error executing formula for [Global_Period] (line 0): attempt to cross a null member in function [@_VAL]
    When converting the "Global_Period" to be a Store member.
    The Calc Script below is exactly equivalent to the Formula, and run perfectly with no Errors.
    "Global_Period" ="ValidAccount";
    FIX ("HSP_InputValue", "Local","No_GL_Account", @RELATIVE ("Total_Expenses", 0),
    @RELATIVE ("Version",0), @RELATIVE("Scenario",0), @RELATIVE ("Years",0),

    @RELATIVE ("Tot_PRJ",0))
    SET CREATENONMISSINGBLK ON;
    "Global_Period"

    1* "ValidAccount"->"Global_Version" ->"Global_Scenario"->&Budget_Year->
    "Global_Entity"->"No_GL_Account"->"HSP_InputValue"->"Local"->
    @MEMBER(@NAME(@CONCATENATE ("Proj_",@ATTRIBUTESVAL("ProjType"))));
    SET CREATENONMISSINGBLK OFF;
    ENDFIX
    For many reasons we prefer to use the Dynamic Calc Formula for "Global_Period".
    As result of some checking I discover that the problem is with the function @ATTRIBUTESVAL,
    because the formula has worked fine when I replace the @ATTRIBUTESVAL with a string.
    Please help, what is the right way to write the formula in order to make it work.
    Thanks
    Tami Kedem

    Dear Cameron Lackpour,
    Thank you very much, for your reply.
    I'd given it a try, but it didn't help.
    The purpose of this formula is as follow:
    We holds 1's (ones) for allowable combinations of "Project_Type and Accounts", namely, each project type has different list of accounts that are allowed for input.
    I need to populate the input 1's to all projects (and their children) according to its "ProjType".
    The Data forms has periods in columns, thus by putting "Global_Period" (Hide) as the first column, and use "Suppress Missing rows" - for each project (on the "Page") , the form will show just the allowable Accounts in rows.
    (we have around 300 Accounts, 50,000 members in Project dimension and around 25 Types of projects).
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Tami Kedem

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Hi,
    One problem is that I can not identify the script because it was not created by me, as I understand this calc is implicit in planning, only runs when you select the option "mass allocate".
    The published extract was obtained from the log of the application in which the calculation is running, this was extracted from essbase directory that hosts the application.

    We are facing an issue where users are able to run CALC from workspace successfully.
    But they are not getting prompt as CALC XYZ ran successfully.
    The browser just keeps showing CALC XYZ is processing. If we check in logs, its shows Calc has already completed its execution.
    Can this happen if we have a slow network? Or is it a bug as the calc seems to be completing on the required time in the background (when checking logs) but the front process keeps going on.
    Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi Rahul,
    Thanks for your quick reply..
    Yes we are on planning 11.1.2.2.300
    Following is what happens --
    <li> We open workspace and login to a planning application.
    <li> We navigate to the Business Rules from Tools.
    <li> We then run the Calc script from within Workspace for that application
    What happens is the calc should be running for ~ 3 mins (it runs for approx same time when we check the logs) however the workspace keeps showing that it is still in progress even if it exceeds ~10 mins, giving us a feel that the calc is still running which is not the case as the log file has the appropriate time when it completed.
    We then have to manually close the UI which shows that the calc is still running as it had already completed.
    Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    Thanks,

  • Essbase 9.3 Calc scripts. Pb with dates. How to convert (string = number) ?

    Hello,
    I've a problem with Essbase(Planning?) Scripts on version 9.3. It looks simple but I do not find any (clean) solution :
    On my Essbase database, I have a member called "Reference_Date" on my axis Indicators. It is a date data type, that is to say, it displays a number corresponding to a YYYYMMDD format. For example : 20091029 for October 29th 2009.
    In calc scripts I often need to compare the month included in that "Reference_Date" with the current Member of my Time Axis (I have 12 Months members based on the format M02 for February for example). The final aim is to calculate a number of complete years since that "Reference_Date".
    But theses two elements are not of the same "type" (one is a number value and the other is a "member" in Time Axis). So I'm forced to convert one of this two elements in order to compare it.
    For example I can extract the month value of the "Reference_Date"' and put an "M" before it to have a Time member equivalent or I can convert the member Name M10 to a number (10))
    in both cases I have the same type problem : I don't know how to convert a string into a number nor how to convert a number into a string.
    (For example @CONCATENATE doesn't work with numbers). and that my only remaining problem.
    I didn't find any Essbase Function which do this (conversion number <=>string).
    Is anyone have an Idea ?
    Thanks for your help
    Best regards

    I don't know any way for you to compare your data against your metadata. Not directly. To me it makes little enough sense to try that I'm not surprised the developers didn't provide for it.
    I've converted member names to strings, manipulated the strings (calc script functions are not good at this), and turned them back into member names, but that's really the only use I've had for string manipulation. I don't think an equivalency operator even exists for string data. And I see no way to begin thinking of a member name, once converted to a string, as a number.
    It makes even less sense to me to try thinking of a data value as a string. Even text values in Sys 11 are stored as numbers. Not encoded characters, but just a number to look up somewhere.
    I think you can do what you want though, with something like this...
    IF (@ISMBR("FY08"))
    vYr = 2008;
    ELSEIF (@ISMBR("FY09"))
    vYr = 2009;
    ENDIF;
    IF (@ISMBR("M01"))
    vMth = 1;
    ELSEIF (@ISMBR("M02"))
    vMth = = 2;
    ENDIF;
    "Years_Since_Reference" = ((vYr * 100) + Mth) - ("Reference_Date" / 12);
    Obviously, the math will need some work, coz that doesn't actually work, but the logic above essentially turns your metadata into numbers, which is what you are after.
    Good luck,

  • Using variables in Calc scripts and Business Rules

    I am sure there have been previous discussions about this, but can somebody let me know the benefits of using variables in Calc scripts and BRs?
    Thanks,
    A

    I have never used calc variables and after reading a study guide, which talked about them, I couldn't really understand the benefits.^^^I use variables all the time to make abstract difficult formulas. Below is an example.
    /*     Declare variables     */
    VAR varSalaryCosts ;
    VAR varProdOHLabXXXX ;
    VAR varXXXX ;
    A whole bunch of code here along with very limited FIX statement and then...
    "Salaried Labor"
         varSalaryCosts = "Salary Costs"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "Wage Bonus"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "YYYY Retention Bonus 40%"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "YYYY 60% Ret Bonus Accrual"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" ;
         varProdOHLabXXXX = "Number of Employees"->"ZZZZDepartments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"Blah Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"Humph Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"TTTT"->"Codes"->"Salaried" ;
         "Salaried Labor" = varSalaryCosts * ("Number of Employees"->"Salaried" / varProdOHLabXXXX) ;
    )The last formula is how the formula was described to me by the business owner. I find it to be much easier to read than something like:
    "Salaried Labor" = ("Salary Costs"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "Wage Bonus"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "YYYY Retention Bonus 40%"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried" -
                             "YYYY 60% Ret Bonus Accrual"->"No Department"->"No Category"->"Salaried") *
                             ("Number of Employees"->"Salaried" /
                             ("Number of Employees"->"ZZZZDepartments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"Blah Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"Humph Departments"->"Codes"->"Salaried" +
                             "Number of Employees"->"TTTT"->"Codes"->"Salaried")) ;I have used ARRAY in a really-cool-but-alas-not-invented-by-me calc script to do currency conversion in Planning better than Planning does currency conversion. (How's that for a run-on sentence?) It is one of the six blog posts I am working on and I will finish it soon, I hope. I am sort of in thrash mode right now. It does have its uses and I'll try to remember to update this thread when I'm done.

  • Calc script takes longer than expected to execute

    The current Planning system has several calc scripts which are used to run the budget. This system is 3.3. I am currently in the process of migrating to Planning 11.1.2. The same outline, data and calc scripts are used in the new system. However, one script, which takes only 8 hours to run in the old system, now takes 5+ DAYS to run. I did a data extract in the new system and the data seems to be correctly calculated.
    My problem is, what can be the issue for this lengthy time for calculation.
    Note: This is the first time I am running the calculation scripts in the new system.
    Thanks

    Did you size your essbase plan type caches appropriately - the index and data caches specifically (this is the most common culprit)
    Do all dimensions have the same dense/sparse configuration?^^^I'll bet anything that Matt got it with the dense/sparse configuration. The caches are worth looking at as well but that big of a performance difference seems unlikely. Taking a dense dimension and making it sparse or vice versa will do crazy things to a database's performance.
