URGENT--inserting into JTable

Hi
i'm trying to insert data retrieved from the database into JTable
i have seen some code examples on TableModel on this site but
getting confused.Can anybody give me a full code example.

    Hi people.
    I am using this code to insert multiple records into a table from a multi select box.
    Sometimes it works, other times It throws an error saying:

    Looks like you might be trying to insert a row before all of the rows are returned from the query, this is possible - how many rows do you get back on the members that fail the insert?
    You could create a seperate connection for the inserts or move to your last row before starting to insert.
    Secondly, your query seems very intense with all the sub selects. Will the following not work?
    Select tGroup_X_Member.MemberId
    From tGroup_X_Member, tSubject, CALLS
    Where tGroup_X_Member.MemberID = tSubject.UogID And
    tSubject.Name = CALLS.CallerName And

  • Need to use vector to insert data into JTable?

    hi
    i'm trying to insert data from mssql 2000 into JTable. The number of columns are fixed, but the number of rows are not, since it will depend on how many data retrieved from the database.
    The documentation says that vector class implements a growable array of objects, and I've seen some examples using vector such as from http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=57&threadID=238597 .
    I would like to know, in my case, do i need to set my column and row to use vector? or should i only set rows to use vector ? (since the row size will vary, while the column size will stick to 6).

    Because your JTable operation will be done on a table model, the selection of the initial data
    structure for the model is almost non-issue. In other words, whatever will do.
    See the javadoc for the DefaultTableModel class, which you will eventually use, especially the
    construcotr part.

    but it just for video in file system.
    I want to read *.avi file from file system, and insert into
    database, and query from my forms.

    I change item type to ActiveX ,and right_click mouse
    ==>[Insert object]==>Oracle Veideo control.
    still can not insert avi data into database and query from my forms.
    Please give me some advice to solve this problem?

    As per current design following steps are used to populate the custom table whcih is used for reporting purpose:
    1) DELETE all the recods from the custom table XXX_TEMP_REP.
    2) INSERT records in custom table XXX_TEMP_REP (Assume all the records related to type A)

  • Help on Chinese insert into mysql (urgent)

    Dear Friends,
    we are running an coldfusion mx application on window,
    perfect, the database is mysql, utf-8 encoding.
    But when we moved to redhat linux +mysql, the chinese in the
    database displayed as ?????. when we insert into database, the
    chinese inserted like ????? as well...
    Any thing that we missed to config...please help.

    The thing with character encodings is that you have to get it right at every step. If you miss one of them, then the whole thing blows apart.
    From the minimal info you have here, I would take a look at the request.setCharacterEncoding() methd.

    I have a performance issue in the below code,where i am trying to insert the data from table_stg into target_tab and in parent_tab tables and then to child tables via cursor with bulk collect .the target_tab and parent_tab are huge tables and have a row wise trigger enabled on it .the trigger is mandatory . This timetaken for this block to execute is 5000 seconds.Now my requirement is to reduce it to 5 to 10 mins.

    I have a performance issue in the below code,
    Maybe you do and maybe you don't. How are we to really know? You haven't posted ANYTHING indicating that a performance issue exists. Please read the FAQ for how to post a tuning request and the info you need to provide. First and foremost you have to post SOMETHING that actually shows that a performance issue exists. Troubleshooting requires FACTS not just a subjective opinion.

    Personally I think 5000 seconds (about 1 hr 20 minutes) is very fast for processing 800 trillion rows of data into parent and child tables. Why do you think that is slow?
    Your code has several major flaws that need to be corrected before you can even determine what, if anything, needs to be tuned.
    This code has the EXIT statement at the beginning of the loop instead of at the end

    The correct place for the %NOTFOUND test when using BULK COLLECT is at the END of the loop; that is, the last statement in the loop.
    You can use a COUNT test at the start of the loop but ironically you have commented it out and have now done it wrong. Either move the NOTFOUND test to the end of the loop or remove it and uncomment the COUNT test.

    That basically says you don't even care what problem occurs or whether the problem is for a single record of your 10,000 in the collection. You pretty much just throw away any stack trace and substitute your own message.
    Your code also has NO exception handling for any of the individual steps or blocks of code.
    The code you posted also begs the question of why you are using NAME=VALUE pairs for child data rows? Why aren't you using a standard relational table for this data?
    As others have noted you are using slow-by-slow (row by row processing). Let's assume that PL/SQL, the bulk collect and row-by-row is actually necessary.
    Then you should be constructing the parent and child records into collections and then inserting them in BULK using FORALL.
    1. Create a collection for the new parent rows
    2. Create a collection for the new child rows
    3. For each set of LIMIT source row data
      a. empty the parent and child collections
      b. populate those collections with new parent/child data
      c. bulk insert the parent collection into the parent table
      d. bulk insert the child collection into the child table
    And unless you really want to either load EVERYTHING or abandon everything you should use bulk exception handling so that the clean data gets processed and only the dirty data gets rejected.

    A form that have 3 JTable:
    - Table1 get data from UserTable in DB
    - Table2 get data from GroupTable in DB
    - Table3 get data from GroupTable in DB
    and 2 buttons: btnAdd, btnRemove.
    When I select a row in Table1, Table2 will get all records in GroupTable that row in Table1 belonging to and Table3 will get all records in GroupTable that row in Table1 not belonging to.
    I want that when I select some rows in Table3 and click btnAdd then those rows in Table3 will be insert into Table2 and remove those rows from Table3. And when I select some rows in Table2 and click btnRemove then those rows in Table2 will be insert into Table3 and remove those rows from Table2.
    Can you show me how to show that problem.

    When do you get this error? Is it while running or while creating the form.
    Here is a sample code which inserts a non-database column dummy into a table called dummy. This is done in successful procedure.

  • Need to insert into NVARCHAR2 column in a database table

    I need to insert into a table with column type NVARCHAR2(2000) in java.
    Cant use normal setString on that column. How can I do this using PreparedStatement in Java?

    The scenario is:
    I have to read a CSV file which contains a column in Urdu language, and show it on the JTable first.
    Then I have to import the JTable contents into a database table.

    Furthermore when I open the CSV file in notepad, it shows the correct language in that column, as I have installed the Urdu language and font on my system.

  • JBO 25030 while inserting into JTab with jNavigationBar

    Hello,
    in a master/detail swing panel the insert button of the navigation bar for the detail view throws "JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity."
    - The views are connected through a view link
    - The Detail View is a join through several entities. These are all marked as "updatable" for the table cells are combo boxes. However I only want to insert into the table that holds the foreign key to the master view.
    Help is appreciated.

    - MasterView is a join through several tables, f.ex.:

    - DetailView is also joins through several tables. At the lowest level there is a m:n relationship. Ex: A road parameter says which combination of road type and road use is available.

  • Pool data from text file and insert into database

    Can anyone tell me how to pool data from a text file and insert into database?
    let's say my text file is in this format
    123456 Peter 22
    234567 Nicholas 24
    345678 Jane 20
    Then I need to insert the all the value for this three column into a table which has the three column name ID, Name, Age
    Anyone knows? I need to do this urgently...Thank in advanced

    1. Use BufferedReader and read the file line by line.
    2. Loop thru the file and do the following steps with in this loop.
    3. Use StringTokenizer to seperate each line into three values (columns).
    4. Now create a insert statement with these values and add the statement to the batch (using addBatch() method of PreparedStatement or Statement).
    5. Finally (after exiting the loop), execute these batch of statements (using ps.executeBatch()).

  • Inserting into table takes several hours

    Hi All,
    A table has a composite index with unique as Y, logging as YES, degree as 1. There are three columns for this index. Inserting into these columns in the table takes hours. Even for 3 or 4 hours, only 10 records or so get inserted.
    The number of extents for this index is 84. Would that be a problem for this performance issue? Please advise bcos it is quite urgent. Many thanks.

    we neet to get the records from emp and insert into cust and cust_det accordingly

    If you post sufficient information, then people can help you. the better the information you provide the faster people will be able to help... but still, if it's "urgent" then we can only assume you have a live production system that is failing, in which case you need to raise an SR with Oracle Support, as the forums are not the place for logging "urgent" production system issues.
