*URGENT* iPhone has "liquid damage"

I have an iPhone 4G, (8GB) (Not a 4S). It was in my bag when my bottle leaked, I have a kipling bag with 2 compartments, my bottle was in the back one and my iphone was in the front one. My bottle had cordial in it and my bottle leaked, soaking all of my bag. When I took my iphone out, it was a bit wet and when I tried to slide it to unlock it, it wouldnt slide properly. I left it in a towel to dry for a bit and I managed to unlock it and enter my password but only once.
Is there a solution to my problem *WITHOUT* having to go to an Apple store. I use and need my iphone alot and it has never been damaged before.
Thanks
(Liquid Damage was the only way I could describe it)

Bit,
Just letting it dry on it's own would not be the best idea...
The longer the moisture remains in the phone the more damage it is likely to do.
You mentioned you are in the U.K. - so I am not familiar with your local services but if the $149 USD price to replace is a problem for you [I know it would be for me] you can always take it to a non-Apple repair center and they can open it up and do their best to get the contaminants out of your phone. [this will void your warranty].
You will have to weigh the warranty against the price to get your phone working.

My iphone has water damage and does not work. can i get it replaces by my applecase protection plan?

If you have a 4S and AppleCare+, it reduces your cost for a replacement to $49. Otherwise, no.

  • Macbook air apparently has liquid damage???

Need advice please! Bought a macbook air from littlewoods in july 2010. Had problems after one month with the airport - it would not switch on, or if it did turn on it would turn off again within minutes (note: i'm not talking about connecting to wifi here - the airport itself would not turn on). Then a few weeks ago, it got even worse to the point where it doesnt turn on at all. This is a major problem for me because i need an internet connection for my work at university. I therefore temporarily used tethering to my iphone.
Next, one day last week, the macair switched off itself and would not turn on. It also went extremely hot - so hot i couldnt even touch it.
So i called up the mac support line the next day but when i tried to switch the laptop on, it wouldnt even flicker - not even with the charger in. I was told that it was a hardware problem and take it into a mac store, which i did
At the store, the mac turned on (i assume because it had time to cool down) but the airport was still problematic, so they took it in to run further tests and determine the cause
Today, i received a call where apple say that the airport problems are caused by liquid damage, even thiugh i DEFINITELY did not drop any sort of liquid on it.
They also said it will cost £1539.60 to repair (as liquid damage is not covered in the warranty) because everything needs replacing (including things like the speakers) - everything else however, works fine!!
There is no way that i dropped any liquid on the notebook. I've barely even used it!
Since apple will not repair or accept it back under the warranty, i talked to littlewoods and they said they cannot accept it back either.
We haven't even paid for it yet - the first installment is in july.
What would you advise?? I am considering putting in a complaint because in my opinion, it is a manufacturing problem.. Or when it went hot, the parts must have melted. I certainly did not cause any damage to it :S
    Please help!!

Your best bet is to take this up with a manager at Apple Customer Support.

  • HT3302 my iphone has water damage what will it cost me to repair it?

I have had a terrible week with sick babies and twisted ankels and to top it off my iphone was knocked off the couch into a cup of water:-( I know it has water damage and am just wondering what it will cost me to have it fixed or replaced?

I'm presuming you do not have AppleCare+, which provides accidental damage coverage, on the iPhone. Apple does not repair iPhones, but will replace the entire iPhone for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/
There are independent iPhone repair services that may be able to do a repair for less. Do a web search for "iPhone repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPhone serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty will be void.<

  • My iphone has water damage . what can i do ?

my iphone 5s has water damage from a pool and my phone is connected with tmobile i would ike to kno what would be my best option because i dont have any money to replace my phone

There is only one trick people sometimes succeed with, place the iPhone in a zip-lock bag with uncooked rice and close the bag and let it sit for at least a week to ten days.  If it starts up, fine...but after immersion in a pool it is not likely to do so.
Out of warranty replacement of an iPhone 5s is $269 in the US.

  • My iphone has water damage and it couldnt take anymore and turned off and wont turn back on. What do i do?

My iphone 4 has water damage and it has taken its toll and turned itself off and wont turn back on. I have tried everything, restoring, charging, restoring through itunes and taking it in for repair at an independant retailer. I really need my iphone so i was wondering where the best place to repair it is and if i can take it to apple, how much it would cost?

There is no such thing as an Apple authorized repair facility or technician.  Since Apple replaces iOS devices and does not repair them in-house, they've never offered any iOS device repair training or certification.  Likewise, there is no system of distribution of OEM parts, since there are no authorized repair centers to use them.  Any parts are used, 3rd party recycled or outright stolen/black market.
So, anywhere you take it other than Apple is a situation of you pay your money and you take your chances (and you have no one to turn to if it fails, other then the person or place that failed to fix it for you).
Your optimal option would be to take it to Apple, pay the out of warranty repair fee and swap it for a fully factory refurbished unit (which will have a new screen, new battery and a min. 90 day warranty).
However, if it has been taken apart by someone else already for past private repair attempts, then Apple will not allow an out of warranty replacement.
The out of warranty replacement fees are available for each country under the iPhone support links, e.g. in the USA - http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne

  • My iPhone has water damage

My phone has water damage how do I go about fixing it

As soon as a phone is exposed to water-it needs to be turned off. It should be placed in a bag of rice or kitty litter for a week to ten days.
If it does not power on after that or shows signs of damage-it has to be written off. The water has caused damage, shorting out components.

  • Iphone 5 liquid damage indicator

is it me or has apple removed the liquid damge indicators on the iPhone 5 like they did on the 2nd gen ipad on forwards

Is that really the only one? For the past few iPhones, there's been one at the dock connector, one in the headphone jack, and two internally. I'm surprised if they've changed it to be only one. Especially since the iPhone 4 and 4S had one on top of a screw on the inside that is required to remove to remove the logic board. This one helped Apple in knowing if the iPhone had been tampered with or does not have original parts, as they don't do any repair that requires that in-store. For example, that one was needed to be removed to replace the display on a 4/4S, which Apple does not do, so it would be an easy indicator of whether or not the display had been replaced by the user or a 3rd party.

  • How can I get a refund for a storage upgrade? I've purchased the storage upgrade earlier today but realized it doesn't add icloud storage space.  I want to know how to get a refund without calling apple because my iPhone has water damage.

Because of the water damage, my iPhone doesn't work.

You can try this - don't know if it will work, but it's worth a shot:

  • My iphone is liquid damaged, I'm getting it replaced. Do I get to keep my old iphone? (To sell)

I'm trading the old phone for $239, I want to sell the old phone but idk if I will even get it back..

Apple's out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price for the iPhone pays for an exchange at a significantly reduced price off the full retail sales price with "exchange" being a key word.
You will not keep the existing damaged iPhone.
If you want to keep it, you will pay the full retail sales price for a new iPhone and you can sell the existing damaged iPhone for whatever you think you may be able to sell it for.

  • HT3302 so if you have insurance on your iphone 4s, liquid damage isnt covered?

i dropped my iphone in the toilet yesterday and stuck it in a bag of rice. Today i  tried turning it on and it didnt turn on. will this be covered by insurance?

    Covered by Insurance???
That would depend on the insurance you purchased. Only your insurance company would know what your plan covers.
If you mean the standard Warranty that Apple provides with all devices they sell, then no, water damage is not covered by the warranty.
    Insurance is different to Warranty.

  • My Iphone has water damage and will not hold a charge.

About 5 weeks ago, I got my iPhone 4s wet. It was not completely submerged in water and had a phone cover on it at the time. I put it in a bag of rice for about 3 weeks and it is now fully functional. The buttons, sound, camera, touch screen, etc... it works the way it did before. The only way the phone will turn on is if I connect it to the charger, but it will only stay on for a few mins before a red line appears across the screen and fades out then will power itself up again. If i leave it connected to the charger it will keep doing this over and over again. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or have it repaired?

I would not have it repaired.  I would take it to Apple and get an out-of-warranty replacement.  I believe it's $199 for the 4S.

  • HT4993 How do I know if my Iphone has water damage?

I dropped my iphone in the toilet tonight but it seems to be fine do I just keep using it?

If it were my iPhone, I'd leave it in the rice for a few days. If it fails anyway, at least you would know you took all reasonable precautions to dry it out.
It's probably OK but ask yourself how you'd feel if it were to stop working right now - you'd wish you dried it out a bit longer, right?

  • I have a macbook air bought in 2010 wit liquid damage that might has affected the SSD card. I need to get my data but apple won't help. Authorized dealers never seem to have the same model to try whether the SSD card works. How can I get my data quickly?

    Hi
I have a macbook air bought in 2010. It has liquid damage that might or might not affected the SSD card. I need the data on my SSD card for work and I need it urgently. Apparently Apple won't get the data out, even if I have apple care... Licensed apple dealers need to have the same macbook air model so they can insert the SSD card and check whether the data is there, and they never seem to have one...
I'm really disappointed with apple. It's been two weeks and I haven't been able to find out whether the SSD card is holding my data. It can't take that long to do it in store... How can they sell a product and then wash their hands on the matter?
Anyway, enough with the apple rant. I need to get this data urgently so I need to find out how I can get it out of the card. The SSD card and data might be fine so I don't want to take it to a data recovery centre and get charged loads.
    Thanks for your help.

See this link for a 4870 card, best instructs for flashing for a noob like me. (last lowest price was $150 for a 1GB vRAM 4870 from TigerDirect).

However, not every 4870 card will work with the ROM currently floating around out there. BEWARE!

  • Replace an iPhone 6's damaged screen

    Hey guys,
I bought my iPhone 6 three months ago in Spain (when I visited there).
Two days ago I dropped my iPhone and the screen has totally cracked.
My question is, if I give my iPhone to a friend who flies to the U.S, can he get into a Genius Bar or any other Apple's service store and get
the screen replaced with a new one? or I can only replace it in Spain?
If so, how much would that cost (109$?), and do I need any documents to bring with it (any proof of purchase, like receipt).
    Thanks a lot.
