  • Problem in Retrive values from result set

    I have a class where i do all database operation .First i fire select query and take values from result set and based on that value i fire update query.
    Problem is that i am not getting all values from result set . i get only last value and when i fire update query i get error as :Resultset is closed.
    I am using acess and java.

    You probably are using the same Statement object for both queries? Try creating separate Statement objects for each query. (My guess is this a problem with the way you're using JDBC, not a Servlet issue.)

  • How to return two XML result sets using the function

    Hi Experts,
    Thanks.

    So that I want to return two XML result sets if the query returns more than 50,000 records.
    One XML result set with 50,000 and another XML result set with remaining records.
    How to incorporate this in my function.
    Have the function return a collection of CLOB then.
    DBMS_XMLGEN can handle pagination so it's easy to adapt your existing code.
    Here's an example fetching data in batches of max. 3 rows each, using a pipelined function :

  • How to count values in a query ?

    Hi experts,
    We have a query, which is having only characteristics. There are no key figures.
    There is date field. In this date field the value may be or may not be there.
    My requirement is if the date field has value then it should be counted record wise and the total count
    should be displayed in the bottom of the query output. If value is not there then that record should not be
    counted.
    How can we do this ?
    Regards,
    Nishuv.

    Dear Nishuv,
    You can create a calculated keyfigure for getting count, in that create a formula variable on characterstic with replacement as processing type.
    and please clarify  on what level you wanted to count, like Sales Docuement level or Item level.
    For Example :
    If you wanted to find no.of sales orders which are returned so  you have to count on document level. this would be the replacement characterstic.
    Please find the below PDf  you will understand better

  • How to count values being outputted ?

    I have a loop running through a DB and the program outputs values such as below to the screen, where the first character is varied it can be any value (eg ABC WON, or XYZ LOST) , and the output can also be of varying lengths.
    How could the program count up the number of wins etc for each one e.g. output D Won 1, A Lost 2, A Won 1, A Drawn 1 etc
    D WON
    A LOST
    C WON
    A LOST
    A DRAWN
    B DRAWN
    B WON
    D LOST
    C WON
    B LOST
    A WON
    D LOST
    I tried using an array but could not get it to work, ideas would be v. appreciated,
    thanks
    (sorry for the caps but thats output of the program ;) )

    Create a class Team which contains Name, Wins, Losses.
    Use a Map to store the instances of Team, the Key being the team name, the value being the Team instance.
    Whenever you want to update the teams win/loss record, ask for the team by name from the map.
    If it returns null, create and add a new team.
    If it returns a Team, simply update the Team instance.

  • How to count values by using cursor

    HI,
    I want to check column is empty or filled. and i should use cursor not indipendent SQL query. I written my programe like this. but count(cursor.columnname) not taken how can i do this. please help me.
    declare
    cursor c_rec is select *from ppc_input_file;
    begin
    FOR c_rec IN c1 LOOP
    dbms_output.put_line('@@@@' || c_rec.device_name);
    IF COUNT(c_rec.ppc_method) THEN
    dbms_output.put_line('hihihh');
    ELSE
    dbms_output.put_line('nononono');
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    venkat.

    Hi,
    Please go through the pl/sql docs carefully before you start writing codes.
    Please follow the link and read first.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/appdev.102/b14261.pdf
    declare
    cursor c1 is select * from ppc_input_file;
    This was wrongly written as cursor c_rec is select *from ppc_input_file;.
    begin
    FOR c_rec IN c1 LOOP
    dbms_output.put_line('@@@@' || c_rec.device_name);
    The following bold portion is unnecessary. If the count is zero the cursor for loop will not run. I am not sure of your requirement.
    --IF COUNT(c_rec.ppc_method) THEN
    --dbms_output.put_line('hihihh');
    --ELSE
    --dbms_output.put_line('nononono');
    --END IF;
    END LOOP;
    end;

  • Getting the record count from result set

    i'm retreiving the result set using the executeQuery method, now i want to know how many records are there in the result set, that is the record count of the result set.
    one solution to that is to first use the executeUpdate and then use the executeQuery but i think that is not the right way.
    so please tell me is there any method in jdbc to get that thing done
    Tanx

    Hi
    Do you know if your DB supports "insensitive scrolling"?
    SQL generally do, but some don't - I had the same problem with the
    open source version of Interbase from Phoenix...
    Anyway - try creating your statement this way:
    public Statement createStatement(int resultSetType, int resultSetConcurrency)
    throws SQLException
    ...where resultset type should be:
    ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE
    Then you can do this:
    ResultSet rs = stm.executeQuery(q);
    int size = rs.last(); //this what you looking for?
    rs.beforeFirst();
    while(rs.next()){
    }

  • How can I use ONE Text search iView to event/affect mutliple Result Sets?

    hello everyone,
    i have a special situation in which i have 6 flat tables in my repository which all have a common field called Location ID (which is a lookup flat to the Locations table).
    i am trying to build a page with a free-form text search iView on Table #1 (search field = Location ID).  when I execute the search, the result set for Table #1 is properly updated, but how do I also get Result Set iViews for Tables #2-6 to also react to the event from Text Search for Table #1 so that they are updated?
    i don't want to have to build 6 different text search iViews (one for each table).  i just want to use ONE text search iView for all the different result set tables.  but, in the documentation and iView properties, the text search iView doesn't have any eventing.
    if you have any suggestions, please help.
    many thanks in advance,
    mm

    hello Donna,
    that should not be a problem, since you are detailw with result sets and detail iviews because custom eventing can be defined for those iviews.
    Yes, it says "no records" found because an active search and record selection havent' been performed for it (only your main table does).
    So, yes, define a custom event, and pass the appropriate parameters and you should be fine.
    Creating a custom event between a Result Set iView and an Item Details iView is easy and works. I have done it.
    See page 35 of the Portal Content Development Guide for a step-by-step example, which is what I used.
    For my particular situation, the problem I'm having is that I want the Search Text iView's event (i.e., when the Submit button is pressed) to be published to multiple iViews, all with different tables.  Those tables all share some common fields, which is what the Search iView has, so I'd like to pass the search critera to all of the iViews.

  • Jdbc Result Set

    I would like to find out how to break a large result set (say 1000 records) into smaller blocks (say 50)!! Just like some of the web sites where you can view the first 50 results, then press a button to see the next 50...
    Any input will be appreciated!!
    Thanks.

    There are many ways to do this. You could write your query to return a subset of the results, say 25-50, 75-100, etc. You could write a SQL procedure that does this for you. You could get all the rows of the result set and store them in the session, or memory, as a Vector and only display the ones you're interested in.

  • Stored function not returning result set unless recompiled

    Hi,
    I have a strange situation going on with a basic Java (1.6.0.17) application talking to an Oracle 11g (11.2.0.1.0) database. Basically what is happening is that sometimes a stored function's return value (a result set) is not making it as far as JDBC/Java, unless I recompile the stored function (with absolutely no changes to the application or function's code). I am always able to successfully see the result set if I call the function directly from within SQL Developer, just not on the Java app/JDBC side.
    I've tried running with 3 different physical Oracle 11g servers and tried running the app on a couple of machines. I'm wondering if this is either some kind of caching issue or perhaps a JDBC bug/misconfiguration.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Attached to this message:

  • Transfer data from Result Set (Execute SQL Task) into Flat File

    Hi to all,
    My problem is this:
     -) I have a stored procedure which use a temporary table in join with another "real" table in select statement. In particular the stored procedure look like this:
    create table #tmp
    col1 varchar(20),
    col2 varchar(50)
    --PUT SOME VALUE IN #TMP
    insert into #tmp
    values ('abc','xyz')
    --SELECT SOME VALUE
    select rt.*
    from realTable rt, #tmp
    where rt.col1 = #tmp.col1
    -) I cannot modify the stored procedure because I'm not admin of database.
    -) I HAVE THE REQUIREMENT OF TRANSFER DATA OF SELECT STATEMENT OF SOTRED PROCEDURE INTO FLAT FILE
    -) THE PROBLEM is that if I use an OLEDB source Task within a Data Flow Task I'm not be able of mapping column from OLEDB source to flat file destination. The reason for this, is that in the "Column page" of OLEDB source task, SSIS do not retrieves
    any column when we using a temporary table. The reason for this, is that SSIS is not be able to retrieve metadata related to temporary table.
    -) One possible solution to this problem is to use an Execute SQL Task to invoke the stored procedure, store the result returned from stored procedure in a Result Set through a Object type user variable.
    -) The problem now is: How to transfer data from result set to flat file?
    -) Reading here on this forum the solution look be like to use a Script task to transfer data from result set to flat file.
    QUESTIONS: How to transfer data from result set to flat file using a script task?? (I'm not an expert of vb .net) Is it really possible?? P.S.: The number of row returned of stored procedure is very high!
    thanks in advance.

    Hi  Visakh16<abbr
    class="affil"></abbr>
    thanks for the response.
    Your is a good Idea, but I do not have permission to use DDL statement on the database in production environment.

  • Callable Statatement returning multiple Result Sets

    Hello all,
    I've got a stored procedure that will be returning multiple result sets and i was wondering if someone could show me how to pull the multiple result sets out of the CallableStatement object. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here is a sample that does what you want. You will have to substitute the call to DBConn.getConnection() with your own DB connection. Also remove the import of com.ovotron.util.*.import com.ovotron.util.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class MultiSQL {
        private static Connection conn = null;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            // Just gets a connection to the DB.
            conn = DBConn.getConnection();
            getResults(conn);
        * Cycles through multiple result sets returned from a stored procedure.
        * Only the first column is output.
        * <p>
        private static void getResults(Connection conn) {
            // Not sure which DBMS you are using. This is the syntax for
            // SQLServer V7.0.
            String            sql     = "{call getMultiResults}";
            CallableStatement stmt    = null;
            ResultSet         rs      = null;
            int               setNo   = 0;
            try {
                stmt = conn.prepareCall(sql);
                boolean found = stmt.execute();
                while (found) {
                    setNo++;
                    rs = stmt.getResultSet();
                    while (rs.next()) {
                        System.out.println("Result set " + setNo +
                                           ": value: " + rs.getString(1));
                        System.out.flush();
                    rs.close();
                    found = stmt.getMoreResults();
            catch (SQLException e) {
                e.printStackTrace();
            finally {
                try {
                    if (rs   != null) rs.close();
                    if (stmt != null) stmt.close();
                catch (SQLException e) {
                    // Tried already to clean up.
    }The procedure I used is:CREATE PROCEDURE [getMultiResults] AS
    select  col1 from tab1;
    select col2 from tab1;
    select col3 from tab1;Of course you will need to create and populate tab1.

  • Full Result set - Send Email Task

    Hi Friends,
    Please find below, my sample data and create table script
    Declare @Current_hour_test table
    Clinical_Document_ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
    Patient_First_Name varchar(20) NULL,
    Patient_Last_Name varchar(20) NULL,
    Patient_DOB date NULL,
    Submit_Date datetime NULL,
    Facility varchar(100) NULL
    Insert into @Current_hour_test
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88','01/15/14','Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88','02/20/14','Hospital' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'Inpatient' UNION ALL
    Select 'Test','Test','01-01-88',getdate(),'outpatient'
    Select 'www.google.com/page=' + convert(varchar,Clinical_Document_ID) LinkTest from @current_hour_test
    where
    clinical_document_ID IN (Select Clinical_Document_ID from @current_hour_test
    where submit_date between dateadd(hour,-1,getdate()) and getdate())
    Thus the gotten result set, I should send in a email by using send email task. Where I'm stuck is, the result is not a single row. How to send the total result set as email is my question
    and also is there any way I can hyperlink the result such that the result can be clickable?
    - please mark correct answers

    Hyperlink you can, otherwise options are as an attached file, or if not too many lines in the body of the email e.g. a table.
    To have a hyperlink generated (HTML) see http://geekswithblogs.net/LifeLongTechie/archive/2011/02/02/using-ssis-to-send-a-html-e-mail-message-with-built-in.aspx just replace the code from table to a hyperlink, or you can use it for the table.

  • Limiting the result set?

    How can I limit the result set of query without inventing a cursor, e.g. Select * from foo order by date desc LIMIT TO 5 rows
    Is there a statment in Oracle 8i enabling such a query (like in Oracle RDB)?

    To limit the result set use rownum. Here is an example:
    select * from tab where rownum <=5;
    I found this on another technet forum when I search on limiting query rows returned.

  • How to group result set to count values in several (2) attributes?

    Hi there,
    the (simplified) query at the bottom returns the following result set:
    OBJ_ID Attr 1 Attr2
    22674886 HAK44221 GEB132542
    22674886 HAK44221 GEB92751
    22674886     HAK44222 GEB92744
    22674886     HAK17113 null
    However, we need the number of different Attr 1 and Attr2 counted, which should result in the this:
    OBJ_ID Attr 1 Attr2
    22674886 3 3
    We trried using "group by grouping sets", "group by" and also took a glance at "cube" but didn't manage to get the desired result, mainly due to the fact, that Attr2 may contain null values.
    We managed to find a solution using a GTT or a view. Can anybody give a hint how to solve that without using temporary tables?
    Best regards
    Pat

    LEFT join gebaeude g
    ON o2.obj_id=g.parent_house_service

    Hi,
    That looks like COUNT (DISTINCT ...):
    SELECT       o.obj_id
    ,       COUNT (DISTINCT o.obj_name)          AS attr1
    ,       COUNT (DISTINCT g.ckw_nis_nummer)     AS attr2
    FROM        objekte o
    JOIN        eigenschaftsdaten     d0     ON   o.obj_id      = d0.obj_id
                               AND  d0.eig_id       = 2525755
    LEFT JOIN eigenschaftsdaten      d8     ON   d0.egd_wert = SUBSTR ( d8.egd_wert
                                                             , 1
                                              , INSTR (d8.egd_wert, ' ') - 1
                             and d8.eig_id=2525976)
    LEFT JOIN objekte          o2     ON  o2.obj_id      = d8.obj_id
    LEFT JOIN gebaeude           g     ON  o2.obj_id      = g.parent_house_service
    Depending on your data and your requirements, you may need to join some of the tables separatemly, do a GROUP BY to get attr2, and then join those results to the other tables.
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data. WSimplify the problem as much as possible. For exam[ple, if your real problem involves 5 tables, but the part you don't understand can be shown with only 1 or 2 tables, then post sample data and results for those 1 or 2 tables only.
    Point out where the query above is getting the wrong results, and explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from the sample data in those places.
    Always say what version of Oracle you're using.
