Urgent! trying to import data (production push this weekend!)

Hi. I'm trying to import a csv file (right-click table name, import). Seems like it'll work but it prompts me a bunch of times... I guess it think I have bind variables. What determines bind variables in my data? Should I remove all colons or all ampersands? Then I realized it didn't import data after the ampersands in each field. example: a vendor might be Crate & Barrel. Well it only says Crate in the vendor field (varchar).
How can i make it accept everything and not prompt me like I have bind vars, and make it accept ampersands in the data?
thanks in advance!

1. I have never gotten sql loader to work.
You should, it is very useful. It is also a well established and mature tool, which thousands of people use all the time.
2. what if I replace all the ampersands? Is that what is causing the issue? I could replace & with something like ~~~~ and then replace ~~~~ with & once I got it in.
That should work. (As long as ~~~~ doesn't occur anywhere else ;-) )
3. Why would this work over and over in UAT and not in production? That define thing must be set somewhere.I don't know. I don't know what differences there are between your production and uat environments. That is one reason why using a batch tool like sqlload is preferable to using an interactive tool like sqldeveloper. The environment is much more controllable. It is conceivable you have changed some setting in SQLDeveloper for something other reason which has had an unfortunate side-effect.

  • ORA-01552 Error when trying to import data

I get the following error when trying to import data into my database. My version is as follows:
    Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
    PL/SQL Release 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
    CORE 9.2.0.6.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 9.2.0.6.0 - Production
and I get the following error:
ORA-01552: cannot use system rollback segment for non-system tablespace
    Any help would be appreciated.
Also when I upgraded my database I received the following error message but continued without fixing:
Warnings Ignored: Your database is using US7ASCII as the NCHAR type. In Oracle9i, the NCHAR datatypes (NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, and NCLOB) are limited to the Unicode character set encoding (UTF8 AND AL16UTF16) only. Refer to the Oracle 9i Database Upgrade Guide to change NCHAR columns in user tables to one of the supported types.
Can I fix this via an sql statement or what?

Hi, i think that the problem is around the rollback segments. The solution is bring other rollback segments ONLINE state, if not exist others rollbackup, then you need create the other rollback segments and bring online state.
If you need more information, you will must see the next DOC-ID on Metalink site,
    Note:121971.1
    Luck.
    Have a good day.

    Hi,
I am relatively new to ODI. While i try toimport data from a csv file in ODI and view the data, it gives an error ORA-00942: table or view does not exist. Actually where does it create the table is it in the Database associated with it?

    Hello Soraya,
Which Version of MS Excel / Power Pivot are you using? Do you try to Import from a MDB or from the new Format ACCDB? Are these common queries in MS Access or pass-through queries?
In common it should work, if I Import from a MDB I can see & select both, tables & views (queries):

  • Error while trying to Import data

    Hi Experts,
I have created a new financial type application(XYZ) selecting the source application to be ABC. The XYZ application has the dimensions of type Account, Category, Entity and Time. It also has Flow, DataSrc and RptCurrency dimensions.  When I try to Import data to XYZ application, the package log shows that all records are accepted but I am not able see any data in the fact table. When I checked the Formula log, it shows details of execution of some other package in a different application that was run long time back. Why does this happen?
    Please help on this.

    Hi,
    It sounds very strange.
Could you please follow these steps on the BPC server :
    1. unregister the following dlls : K2processing.dll, K2processingInternal.dll and K2Logic.dll (located in "\BPC\Websrvr\bin") by running the DOS command for each dll (in our example, the dlls are located in C:\BPC\Websrvr\bin folder):
    regsvr32 /u C:\BPC\Websrvr\bin\K2Logic.dll
    2. re-register the same dlls : K2processing.dll, K2processingInternal.dll and K2Logic.dll by running the DOS command for each dll (in our example, the dlls are located in C:\BPC\Websrvr\bin folder):
    regsvr32 C:\BPC\Websrvr\bin\K2Logic.dll
Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

  • Trying to import data , to later integrate into SSAS, but get stuck at modeling level, dimtables and facttable

I have a task at school that i cant get my head around. The task is to create some dimetables and create a facttable from those. The data i have chosen is from Export and Import cost for each year for a specific Product.
    So The dimtables are : dim.Product, dim.Export, dim.Import and dim.Date ExportCost(column), ImportCost(column)
For example, the importtable looks like this:
    00 bike 1998 10030
    00 bike 1999 43400
    00 bike 2000 88470
    00 bike 2001 48631
    01 meat 1998 176638
    01 meat 1999 213696
    01 meat 2000 225571
    01 meat 2001 305054
and i have exporttable as well..after several hours, i have come to the conclusion that import and export tables are two different Fact.Tables, but, then the question, how do i normalize all this mess so i can later get some cubes and mesaures out of it??
    Please help,

    Hi Vargo1,
In OLTP System Import and Export are from different tables and those tables will be normalized to avoid redundency. But, here in OLAP System data should be de-Normalized. the given sample data is correct but not a fact table.
Typical fact table should contain Keys(surrogate Keys that link the with the dimension table) and Measures(Quantifiable Values).
so the fact will contain only numeric columns. and Dimension table will have Key and its corresponding Name, description and Attributes that has Analytics value.

  • Trying To Import Data - Failing

I've got an Essbase database that works fine and is populated with data. I've got another Essbase database of the same version and setup on a different server, same outline and rules files, and I'd like to move all the data over. Here's what I'm doing:
    - I right click the working database and choose EXPORT.
    - I choose to export only Level 0 data out to a .txt file.
    - While still logged into this server via Remote Desktop, I move up to the new database in EAS and do a data load.
    - I try doing a data load with that .txt file as the data file and no specified rules file.
    - It runs for a few seconds and fails saying "Unknown Member [Str J470] in data load, [2767529] Records Completed."
    - So I export all data and try loading that.
    - It runs for about 45 minutes and gives the exact same error message except it completes 5841034 records.
    - So I copied the data files to the new server and ran them locally, same error.
Am I doing the load properly? It shouldn't be failing if the data is coming straight from the other database. Any other suggestions?

    DeX,
If you have the same version of the first database, same outline structure, and want to copy the data over to the second database, why don't you copy (replace the 2nd database) the whole DB, I know it may take too long to copy, but you can do it the background, in other words you just copy replace a database from a server to another using the migration wizard, use the advanced user level so you can migrate security as well.
I do lots of data loads, and in most cases, records are rejected because members don't exist in the on the outline.
    Hope it this helps.

  • How can I import data in an interactive PDF?

    Hello everyone,
I'm trying to import data (in this case, price lists created in Excel) in a PDF that needs be interactive; The goal is to actually make up a document (in InDesign) using form fields, and then have that data imported in the form fields, but the generated PDF has to be interactive. What I'm trying to achieve is that my sales people have a pdf, where they can generate a price estimate based on the number of products they wanna order. Is this achievable at all?

Yes, very much so. The form fields can be added in InDesign or in Acrobat
(I prefer the latter), and the data can be imported in Acrobat as well. The
Excel file needs to have the following structure for it to work: Fields
names in the first row and their data in the second. Then you save it as a
tab-delimited text file and import it in Acrobat via Tools - Forms - More
    Form Options - Import Data.

How to import data (with full import option) succefully

Even if we have to overwrite tablespaces , tables and users.

  • Import Data From Excel In OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I created an excel sheet named as product. It has three columns. I selected the range and clicked on table. So I assume that it acts like a table. Named the excel work book as ProductExcel. Later created dsn by selecting this workbook.
Now created repository and tried to import data. Selected ODBC 3.5, and clicked my dsn name. Then cliked Next without entering user name and password. It gave me an error "Connection failed". I am confused which user name and password has to be given there.
Please intimate me whether the steps followed are correct or not. Let me know the solution.

  • Performance issue with FDM when importing data

In the FDM Web console, a performance issue has been detected when importing data (.txt)
In less than 10 seconds the ".txt" and the ".log" files are created the INBOX folder (the ".txt" file) and in the OUTBOX\Logs (the ".log" file).
At that moment, system shows the message "Processing, please wait” during 10 minutes. Eventually the information is displayed, however if we want to see the second page, we have to wait more than 20 seconds.
It seems a performance issue when system tries to show the imported data in the web page.
It has been also noted that when a user tries to import a txt file directly clicking on the tab "Select File From Inbox", the user has to also wait other 10 minutes before the information is displayed on the web page.
    Thx in advance!
    Cheers
    Matteo

    Hi Matteo
How much data is being imported / displayed when users are interacting with the system.
There is a report that may help you to analyse this but unfortunately I cannot remember what it is called and don't have access to a system to check. I do remember that it breaks down the import process into stages showing how long it takes to process each mapping step and the overall time.
I suspect that what you are seeing is normal behaviour but that isn't to say that performance improvements are not possible.
The copying of files is the first part of the import process before FDM then starts the import so that will be quick. The processing is then the time taken to import the records, process the mapping and write to the tables. If users are clicking 'Select file from Inbox' then they are re-importing so it will take just as long as it would for you to import it, they are not just asking to retrieve previously imported data.
    Hope this helps

  • Problem in importing data in oracle 10g from 9i backup

    Hi ,
Am trying to import data in oracle 10g..but it does not importing constraints, and stop doing anything by the msg.
    About to enable constraints.....
after this msg it does not work.
    plz help,
    Regards,
    Neha

    Hi Neha,
You have a lot of options. I'll supose you can test first, and you're using an export file.
First forget about the data, think in your database structure. So you can do this:
    exp userid=... file=exp_norows.dmp full=y rows=n statistics=none
Now you have the structure of your database. Create the database, in 10g, empty, check you have all filesystem, etc. for you new datafiles. And do the import with parameter ignore=y, you'll see a lot off errors on SYSTEM schema, don't worry about it.
Now you have the structure of you database in 10g. You can take a look in the import log file, looking for some possible errors come from your schemas. so check the objects, and check the schemas.
Bear in mind things like CONNECT role in 9i it's different in 10g, you can't create db_links in 10g with "IDENTIFIED BY VALUES" because you'll get an ORA-00600, etc.
Well, fix all problems on source database (9i) and repeate this procedure until you don't recieve any more errors (not a SYSTEM schema errors).
When you have everything solved, you can try to import the data.
I hope, this method can help you. If you have any problem do not hesitate to ask me.
