Urgent: UnsatisfiedLinkError in Solaris 8

Hi,
I am new to JNI stuff. I have a problem when loading the shared library. Here are the details:
I have a java class AuthenticateEngine.java - This class contains methods for authenticating the user against the Solaris system. This service is running as a RMI with security enabled. It is internally implemented using the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Module)
I have a C program AuthenticateImpl.c which calls the PAM module to verify the given user-id and password.
I am getting the following exception when I execute the AuthenticateEngine class.
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /mypath/libauthentication.so: ld.so.1: /usr/java1.3/j2sdk1_3_1_02/bin/../bin/sparc/native_threads/java: fatal: relocation error: file /mypath/libauthentication.so: symbol pam_chauthtok: referenced symbol not found

at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1343)
at java.lang.Runtime.loadLibrary0(Runtime.java:749)
at java.lang.System.loadLibrary(System.java:820)
at packagename.authenticateEngine.<clinit>(AuthenticateEngine.java:118)
The line 118 in AuthenticateEngine.java contains the System.loadLibrary("authentication"); inside the static block.
Compilation Details:
$ /usr/bin/javac -classpath . packagename/AuthenticateEngine.java
$ /usr/bin/javah -classpath . packagename.AuthenticateEngine
$ /usr/local/bin/gcc -G -I/usr/java/include -I/usr/java/include/solaris -o libauthentication.so AuthenticateImpl.c
I am doing the following to execute my class.
$ rmiregistry &
$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH=./ java -classpath . -Djava.security.policy=./java.policy packagename.AuthenticateEngine &
Can anyone help me ?
Thanks in advance,
Prem.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes i have included the header #include <security/pam_appl.h> for my PAM in my C program.
I am using pam_start(), pam_chauthtok() and other pam related APIs. Probably do i need to link the library libpam.so when i generate the libauthentication.so (my library) ? or do i need to specify the path of libpam.so somewhere ?
This is how i am generating my libauthentication.so:
/usr/local/bin/gcc -G -I/usr/java/include -I/usr/java/include/solaris -o libauthentication.so AuthenticateImpl.c
kr,
Prem.

    Any ideas?

    You are probably running on a Solaris 2.6 machine whcih Java 1.4 no longer supports.
    The motif 1.2 support was removed due to some sort of security problem.
    I managed to resolve this my making a symbolic link from motif21 to motif12
    and coping a /usr/dt/lib/libXm.so.4 from a solaris 8 machine. A Solaris 9 version
    has more dependancyed in the motif library and was abandoned.
    I know Its about a year late in my response, but I figured other may have a simular problem.

  • URGENT: java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError

    Hi all,
    I'm calling a particular method which in turn calls a native method. But this gives an error:
    java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no ifjapi90 in java.library.path
    But just before the method call I set the System property java.library.path with the location of this file. After that i also print the same which is satisfactory. But it still gives me an error.
    The following is the console output:
    ==========================

    Please help. This is quite urgent.
    Regards,
    Naveen

    This did not help. I loaded the library using
    System.load but it still gives the same error. Is
    there no way I can set the System property
    java.library.path after startup?
    Did you provide the complete path to the library using load()?
    If you did then I would suggest using java.io.File to test that path for existence before calling load() to see if it is correct.

    reportClientDocument.open("report.rpt" 0);
    Any ideas what could be causing this? I am using the latest viewers SDK on java 1.5.0_12, Solaris 10 on Intel.
    Thanks,
    Artur

    The Crystal Reports SDKs require loading the printer information since it uses the printer driver for report formatting.
    It needs to do so - since only printers have the resolution required on computers to allow for fine resolution (default screen resolution leads to poor results).
    Note that the exception is being thrown by the Java JVM:
    sun.print.Win32PrintServiceLookup.getDefaultPrinterName(Native Method)
    That's whacked, since on Solaris it should never be calling the Win32 version of the PrintServiceLookup.
    Something strange is going on with your Java deployment on Solaris.
    The Java PrintServer initialization is once only - are there anything in your app that explicitly refers to the Win32 version?
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

    set shmsys:shminfo_shmseg=10
    Space aint an issue and dont know how to over come this error!
    Should ai just install the db using scripts and run the neccessary .sql scripts instead of going through dbca?
    junior DBA in distress.

    This appears to be because of low semaphores setting. Did you reboot your server after making the /etc/system parameter changes ?

    The currently supported versions with patches installed are as follows:
    <li>10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch 5983622)
    <li>11.1.1.4 (11.1.1.2 or 11.1.1.3 + patch 11060983 : this also requires WLS 10.3.4)
    Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11 downloads are available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/index.html
    Patches are only available to customers with access to MyOracleSupport (http://support.oracle.com)
    For Forms/Reports users, look for the FMw download titled "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer". The distribution includes all that is necessary to design and deploy your applications. Note that WebLogic Server is also required and is a separate download (from the same page). Be sure to carefully review the installation instructions before attempting the process. It may also be helpful to review MyOracleSupport note 1073776.1.

  • Agent 2.2, Apache 2.0.59 and Solaris 10 - problem- Urgent

    Hi,
    We are using Solaris 10 (T2000), apache 2.0.59 and Policy Agent 2.2.. Apache Server 2.0.59 works just fine. When I installed Policy Agent 2.2. The Apache start gives following error:
    /usr/local/apache2/bin/apachectl start
    Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/opt/SUNWam/agents/apache/config/_usr_local_apache2_conf/dsame.conf:
    Cannot load /opt/SUNWam/agents/apache/lib/libamapc_ssl.so into server: ld.so.1: httpd: fatal: relocation error: file /opt/SUNWam/agents/apache/lib/libamapc_ssl.so: symbol ap_pstrdup: referenced symbol not found
    Does anybody knows whats going wrong?
    Thanks,
    Vivek

    I'm not sure of the exact error issued, but if one uses the Apache version that comes bundled with Solaris, then problems arise. If that's not what you've done, then never mind. Here's the warning from the documentation
    PDF = http://192.18.109.11/819-4770/819-4770.pdf
    HTML = http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4770
    Caution - Do not use the version of Apache HTTP Server that comes bundled with Solaris 9 Operating System or with Solaris 10 Operating System. The bundled Apache HTTP Server package is incomplete. Any attempt to Install Agent for Apache HTTP Server on a bundled version of Apache HTTP Server is likely to fail.
    Therefore, download the desired version of Apache HTTP Server from the Apache web site at http://www.apache.org/ before attempting to install the agent.

  • URGENT! SEGV-errors when using Oracle C XML Parser for Solaris

    I often (not always) got SEGV-error with core dump when I use Oracle Oracle C XML Parser for Solaris. This Error is always got in the call of the the function xmlinit(...) with all params as NULL but the first required for the error code and the second which i assign a macro that evaluates to "US-ASCII". Does anyone knows about this problem?
    I am using a very short, wellformed and validated XML document.
    I would be very glad for some help about this!

    Please provide a sample program along with the version number of the XML parser.

  • Java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError - Urgent please help

    Hi,
    I want to thank you for looking into this problem first.
    I have a very headache problem for the past week. I have an applet that uses JNI to call an existing dll to get the system resources. It works fine on windows 2000 server with IE 5.0. The dll get loaded fine and the function call is working fine.
    However, now I tried to move the applet to an application for me to test with jbuilder, I have problems and I get the error java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: ooInit.
    Does anyone know why this is happening in Jbuilder. I traced to see if the dll get loaded with System.loadlibrary("dll"), and it seems to load the library. But when I call the ooInit() native method, it throws that exception.
    Please help. This will be greatly appreciated and I can do something for you guys in return.
    Thank you so much.
    Regards,
    guna

    Here, for the benefit of others who might search for this, is my approach to resolving this error.
    Two things to note:
    1. I didn't worry about paths, etc. - I was in a hurry so I just copied files into required directories.
    2. I named both the Java and C files "mainFrame". I have not subsequently checked to see if this is required, since it worked for me.
    Summary of getting jni routine to work with Jbuilder:
    created Java project mintest, two principle classes - mainFrame and WelcomeFrame
    key code fragments:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame --------------------------------------------------
    package mintest;
    import javax.swing.JLabel;
    import javax.swing.JButton;
    import javax.swing.JPanel;
    import java.awt.GridBagLayout;
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.event.MouseEvent;
    import java.awt.event.MouseAdapter;
    public class mainFrame {
        boolean packFrame = false;
        WelcomeFrame frame = new WelcomeFrame();
        public static native int cRoutine(int value);
        static {System.loadLibrary("mainFrame"); }
    public mainFrame() {
        //Pack frames that have useful preferred size info, e.g. from their layout
        //Validate frames that have preset sizes
        if (packFrame) {
          frame.pack();
        else {
          frame.validate();
        // Center the frame
        Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
        Dimension frameSize = frame.getSize();
        if (frameSize.height > screenSize.height) {
          frameSize.height = screenSize.height;
        if (frameSize.width > screenSize.width) {
          frameSize.width = screenSize.width;
        frame.setLocation( (screenSize.width - frameSize.width) / 2,
                          (screenSize.height - frameSize.height) / 2);
        frame.setVisible(true);
        try {
          jbInit();
        catch (Exception ex) {
          ex.printStackTrace();
    * Main method
    * @param args String[]
    static public void main(String[] args) {
      try {
        UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
      catch (Exception e) {
        e.printStackTrace();
      new mainFrame();
            cRoutine(1);     // this works at this point...
            System.out.println("cRoutine - should be 4: " + cRoutine(3));
      private void jbInit() throws Exception {
    }--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame --------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------- (portions of) WelcomeFrame --------------------------------------
    package mintest;
    import java.awt.*;
    ..... more imports, setting up of window, buttons, etc. .... iValue is an integer....
      public void jToggleButton1_mousePressed(MouseEvent e) {
          jToggleButton1.setText("cRoutine in: " + iValue + "  out: " + (iValue =
                                   mainFrame.cRoutine(iValue)));
      }--------------------------------------- end of (portions of) WelcomeFrame -----------------------------
    mainFrame was compiled with Jbuilder into a class file, makeFrame.class. That was copied into
    the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\bin directory, and javah was run to create the C header file:
    javah -jni mainFrame
    This generated:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame.h generated by javah ----------------------------------
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
    #include <jni.h>
    /* Header for class mainFrame */
    #ifndef _Included_mainFrame
    #define _Included_mainFrame
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    * Class:     mainFrame
    * Method:    cRoutine
    * Signature: (I)I
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mainFrame_cRoutine
      (JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.h generated by javah -------------------------
    OKAY, HERE COMES THE CRITICAL STEP. DESPITE THE FACT THE COMMENT SAYS DO NOT EDIT, THIS FILE HAS TO BE EDITED TO INCLUDE THE PACKAGE NAME, LIKE THIS:
    --------------------------------------- modified mainFrame.h ----------------------------------
    /* DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE - it is machine generated */
    #include <jni.h>
    /* Header for class mainFrame */
    #ifndef _Included_mainFrame
    #define _Included_mainFrame
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    extern "C" {
    #endif
    * Class:     mainFrame
    * Method:    cRoutine
    * Signature: (I)I
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine
      (JNIEnv *, jclass, jint);
    #ifdef __cplusplus
    #endif
    #endif--------------------------------------- end of modified mainFrame.h -------------------------
    This file is then copied to the C:\Borland\BCC55\Include directory. The C code source is placed
    in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. Here is the C code - note that it has the package name in
    the function name:
    --------------------------------------- mainFrame.c ----------------------------------
    #include <mainFrame.h>
    #include <stdio.h>
    #include <string.h>
    /* must link gpib-32.obj for Windows*/
    #include <windows.h> /*if using Windows */
    void main(){
    JNIEXPORT jint JNICALL
    Java_mintest_mainFrame_cRoutine(JNIEnv *env, jobject callingObj,jint invalue)
    return (jint) invalue+1;
    }--------------------------------------- end of mainFrame.c -------------------------
    This is now compiled on the command line (from the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory) using:
    bcc32 -tWD -I\Borland\bcc55\include -L\Borland\bcc55\lib mainFrame.c
    Parameters: -tWD creates Windows DLL file
    -I is path to include directory (this is where mainFrame.h is located)
    -L is path to library directory
    Compilation produces mainFrame.dll in the C:\Borland\BCC55\Bin directory. This is copied to the C:\Borland\JBuilder2005\jdk1.4\jre\bin directory so Jbuilder can find it. Then it works.
    So, the key step is adding the package name after javah has generated the header file (and similarly using the package name in the .c source file.)
    Hope this is useful.

  • Err when installing Oracle on solaris (URGENT) please help

    while installing 10g database on solaris i am finding the following error

  • Urgent: Solaris newbie question: group permissions etc

    Hi
    I have a question on what is the best practice of working with solaris users and permissions. I'm using Solaris 10 and have created several users each with their home directory in /export/home. Then i have installed the sun webserver under /export/home/sun/webserver and i want all users to be able to use this, execute or copy over to the webserver.. would this be a valid solution or good practice solution tht i crete a group give it the permissions to read/write/execute and all the users i want to give this privilege to will be under this group. but then whats the use of having root like how would root user be different from the rest now...
    thanks...

    If you just want them to be able to publish to the web, apache has a little built in script in the httpd.conf that will hook in a user directory. Read the /etc/apache/httpd.conf file for more info.
    Whether this is best practice I am not sure. What you suggest will work but I would avoid it.
