ViewersSDK on Solaris-java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:getDefaultPrinterName
I am developing a web application that uses the Viewers SDK to display reports interactively. My application runs fine on a windows, but the following exception is thrown if I deploy it to Solaris:

On my code I am not even attempting to print anything, just open a report, like this:
ReportClientDocument reportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
reportClientDocument.open("report.rpt" 0);
Any ideas what could be causing this? I am using the latest viewers SDK on java 1.5.0_12, Solaris 10 on Intel.
Thanks,
Artur
The Crystal Reports SDKs require loading the printer information since it uses the printer driver for report formatting.
It needs to do so - since only printers have the resolution required on computers to allow for fine resolution (default screen resolution leads to poor results).
Note that the exception is being thrown by the Java JVM:
sun.print.Win32PrintServiceLookup.getDefaultPrinterName(Native Method)
That's whacked, since on Solaris it should never be calling the Win32 version of the PrintServiceLookup.
Something strange is going on with your Java deployment on Solaris.
The Java PrintServer initialization is once only - are there anything in your app that explicitly refers to the Win32 version?
Sincerely,
Ted Ueda

I see several possibilities.
1. What you are trying to load is not a shared library.
2. The shared library is compiled incorrectly to match the process space of the VM. There can be any number of causes for this.
Note that the word width mismatch strongly suggests the second.
You should start by forgetting weblogic entirely. Write a simple java app and using an explicit path in the load() method, not loadLibrary(), get it to load. Until it works there it you have no chance in weblogic. -
Weblogic server 8.1 JNI module deployment java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
This is on the weblogic 8.1 Solaris platform.
We have a module in our application which uses the native shared library and makes JNI called from the J2EE application. We have added the .so files to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable in our managed server startup scripts. When we start our servers the module works fine. But when we redeploy the J2EE application, the java code is changed but we start getting java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError exception when the module is invoked. We are using the staged mode for deployment. We have to shut down the managed servers and restart them every time for this module to start working after the redeployment of the J2EE application.
Is this a known problem with the JNI based application. Is there any setting that we are missing? Has this problem been fixed in any of the service packs?Have you checked to see if your file descriptor setting is set high enough? Disabling native IO is not a very good solution as it will drastically reduce performance.

Hi,
I"m using Mac OS X (32 bit) and trying to connect to an Oracle 10g server via JDBC. I just installed the Mac OS X 10.2 Instant Client Package - Basic Lite from here -- http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/intel_macsoft.html. Sadly, when I try and run my console app to connect, I get this error ...

System.out.println(System.getProperty("java.library.path"));before you call System.loadLibrary(), so you know if it is correct.
I also found this information (for Solaris):
The shared library file name requires a "lib" prefix and a ".so" extension. Do not include the "lib" prefix or the ".so" extension for the argument that you pass to the System.loadLibrary method.

There have been many posts of people who get the following exception:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no cis in java.library.path
And it is always on solaris only, they don't seem to get it on windows. However, I AM using windows and am getting this error trying to run a simple stand alone java app to connect to a jms topic. I'm trying to connect like so:
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.jndi.cosnaming.CNCtxFactory");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://localhost:3700");
jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
Thus far I have been COMPLETELY unable to get a simple little standalone java app to connect to a jms topic on the sun server. Why is this so @#%$#@ hard? Anyway, even though it compiles file, I get the above exception when I try. I imagine it's a environment varaible/classpath issue. Soooo, can someone please give me the complete list of all required jar/dll files which must be in the classpath, as well as all environment variables which must be set in order to get a simple java app to connect to a jms topic? Please? Thank you.
TonySorry, but I have those .dll files in my classpath. Here is the batch file I'm using to try to run my simple standalone app (called SimpleTopicPublisher):
cls
setlocal
set JAVA_HOME=C:\sun\AppServer7\jdk
set ANT_HOME=C:\prog\java\BOABackOffice\3rdparty\ant
set IMQ_HOME=C:\sun\AppServer7\imq
set classpath=.;
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\prog\java\BOABackOffice\3rdparty\junit\junit.jar
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\sun\AppServer7\imq\lib\jms.jar;C:\sun\AppServer7\imq\lib\imq.jar;C:\sun\AppServer7\imq\lib\fscontext.jar
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\sun\AppServer7\lib\appserv-ext.jar;C:\sun\AppServer7\lib\appserv-rt.jar;C:\sun\AppServer7\lib\appserv-admin.jar
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\cis.dll;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\libnspr4.dll;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\libplc4.dll
set classpath=%classpath%;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\libplds4.dll;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\nss3.dll;C:\sun\AppServer7\bin\ssl3.dll
set path=%path%;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin
java SimpleTopicPublisher com.ecc.utils.LoggerTopic 1
endlocal
I have all the .dll's in my classpath, as well as .jar files that I can think of. Still no luck.

Help needed with JNI - java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
I need some help with JNI. I am running on Sun Solaris 7 using their CC compiler. I wrote a simple java program that calls a native method to get a pid. Everything work until I use cout or cerr. Can anyone help? Below is what I am working with.
Note: The application works. The problem is when the C++ code tries to display text output.
My error log is as follows:

Hello,
I have a problem about jDriver
the configuration is:

I follow the "Installing WebLogic jDriver for Oracle" setting from BEA online
documantation.
but I got some error and exception as follow:
Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was:

somebody can give me a hang,thanks!!!
-WinsonYou need to have /export/home/bea/wlserver6.1/lib/solaris/oci901_8 in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH env variable so that the library
can be found and loaded dynamically. Check the startWebLogic.sh script for an example and make sure that it is getting set
appropriately when you start the server.

Can any one help me in solving this problem.
Thanks in Advance
T.ThiagarajanThere is a DLL file located in the nativelib directory of the J2EE installation directory called ioser12.dll. That file needs to be placed in a directory in the library path (e.g., the windows system directory) or the nativelib directory needs to be added to the PATH (I'd choose the latter). I suspect you are running Win95 as WinNT environments don't need to take that extra step of adding the nativelib directory to the PATH.

Thanx alot jschell :D Tht Solaris and Windows prob clicked! I revised all the installation procedure again, and installed Generic windows comm.jar file [for back end]and then the RxTxcomm.jar [for front end] and then in the configure build path [m Using Eclipse for my code] , i expanded the RxTxcomm.jar node, and added the path in the Native Library to:
C:\Users\Urooj\Desktop\rxtx-2.2pre2-bins\win32\rxtxSerial.dll
and instead of
import javax.comm.CommPort;
import javax.comm.CommPortIdentifier;
import javax.comm.PortInUseException:D
i replaced this with:
import java.util.Enumeration;
import gnu.io.CommPortIdentifier;
import gnu.io.CommPort;
import gnu.io.PortInUseException;Edited by: java-ized on Jan 5, 2010 3:49 PM
