Usage Tracking Setting error

Hi Experts,
I'm trying to set Usage Tracking in BIEE11.1.1.6, I met with some problem and need your help.
I built the S_NQ_ACCT table in a seperated DB other than the one where repository metadata was. I imported the table into my repository and configured parameters in EM. When I restarted OPMN,no error in NQServer.log.However,when I queried one dashboard,errors were added to the log.

Hi,
Have you tried this with OCI? (it looks like you are connecting via ODBC which is sub-optimal)

  • OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 Usage Tracking Permission

    I got access denied for user to path/shared/Usage Tracking/_portal error when I use catalog manager to change the permission for Usage Tracking subfolder
    Any idea? or known bug?

    If you are merging usage tracking catalog newly, it may be issue with GUID refresh. Change permissions using catalog manager tool in offline mode.

  • Error in implementing Usage Tracking in OBIEE

    [nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: S1000 code: 1456 message: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01456: may not perform insert/delete/update operation inside a READ ONLY transaction.
    [nQSError: 16015] SQL statement execution failed.
    I have also check by changing the Call_Interface in Connection Pool of Admin Tool from ODBC 3.5 to OCI 10g. By this chage i get ollowing error:
    [59048] Usage Tracking encountered an insert statement execution error. This error has occurred 1 times and resulted in the loss of 1 insert statements since this message was last logged.
    [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 3114, message: ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE

    problem is solved....
    Actually in NQServer.ini file i was using actual Database name instead of Admin Tool Physical Layer name at PHSICAL TABLE NAME: <database>.<schema>.<tablename>
    and at CONNECTION POOL: <database name>.<connection pool>

  • Error with OBIEE Usage Tracking

    I have set up Usage Tracking in Oracle BI Enterprise Edition with the Direct Insert Option. I have created the S_NQ_ACCT table in an Oracle schema that is referenced as a connection pool in the Oracle BI Repository physical layer. When I run my requests from Oracle BI Answers and check my server logs (NQServer.log), I get the following message:

    You're right. The response seems to imply that the account does not have the authorization. However, the account I am using to access the database from OBIEE Repository owns the schema where the S_NQ_ACCT table is stored. So I am puzzled as to why this response is generated.

    During an upgrade to 11.1.1.7.131017 recently, I ran into the following error in nqserver.log when trying to implement Usage Tracking on a MS SQL Server 2012 RCU DB:

  • USAGE TRACKING Error in Obiee 11.1.1.6.0

    Hi All,
    I have configured usage tracking in our Obiee 11.1.1.6.0 version properly using enterprise manager. And, I have also created a a subject area in the repository called "Usage Tracking" where I gave all the details of "DEV_BIPLATFORM" schema in the connection pool as well. Now when I go to analysis to build a report using same subject area, I can't see any results. I checked the SQL and its quering from the right table "S_NQ_ACCT" but just can't populate the usage information. Also I checked in the database. The table is empty there too!! But It works fine for Obiee 11.1.1.5.0 version.

    Thank You for your quick reply. The table permission was alright.
    Its very strange that, we configure usage tracking in obiee 11.1.1.6.0 using enterprise manager and that how all document says. And then it should automatically update the "NQSCONFIG.INI". But it was not updated there. So we need to change all configuration settings in both "Enterprise Manager" and also in the "NQSCONFIG.INI". Then it works fine!!

  • OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6) usage tracking migration

    Hi Team,
    I am facing issue in setting up the usage tracking in 11g (11.1.1.6).
    All the tables and views are available in DEV_BIPLATFORM schema. Migration of the the RPD and the Catalog (available under 'sample' folder) is failing.
    Error: Wrong Password.
    I have used the default password of Usage Tracking rpd (Admin123 as well as Administrator) during migration. Even though the migration fails.
    Is there any bug associated with this as i have also tried to open the RPD with 10g (10.1.3.4) and also with 11g (11.1.1.6). In both case, they failed to open.
    Error in 10g:
    [nQSError: 36010] Server version 184 cannot read the newer version 266 of the repository.
    Error in 11g:
    [nQSError: 36015] Please run the upgrade utility obieerpdmigrateutil to upgrade the repository.

    This is a bug.
    Raised SR with Oracle to resolve it. Oracle has provided a new RPD.

  • Usage Tracking Catalog Problem

    I am trying to setup usage tracking in OBIEE running on Windows 2008. Every time I try to open the sample catalog I receive the following error: Error initializing/loading existing Catalog: D:\UsageStatistics\UsageTracking. I have tried the file from three different installs with the same error. I am using 7-Zip to unpack the zip file.
    Any ideas

While looking at the sample files provided I just wanted to take a look at the catalog provided in OBIEEHOME\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1\sample\usagetracking\usagetracking.zip. When I unzip and then try and open it in offline mode I am getting the error.

  • ORA-09100 specified length too long for its datatype with Usage Tracking.

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm getting an (ORA-09100 specified length too long for its datatype) (a sample error is provided below) when viewing the "Long-Running Queries" from the default Usage Tracking Dashboard. I've isolated the problem to the logical column "Logical SQL" corresponding to the physical column "QUERY_TEXT" in the table S_NQ_ACCT. Everything else is working correctly. The logical column "Logical SQL" is configured as a VARCHAR of length 1024 and the physical column "QUERY_TEXT" is configured as a VARCHAR2 of length 1024 bytes in an Oracle 11g database. Both are the default configurations and were not changed.
    In the the table S_NQ_ACCT we do have record entries in the field "QUERY_TEXT" that are of length 1024 characters. I've tried various configuration such as increasing the the number of bytes or removing any special character but without any sucess. Currently, my only possible workaround is reducing the "Query_Text" data entries to roughly 700 characters. This makes the error go away. Additional point my character set to WE8ISO8859P15.
    - Any suggestions?
    - Has anyone else ever had this problem?
    - Is this potentially an issue with the ODBC drive? If so, why would ODBC not truncate the field length?
    - What is the maximum length supported by BI, ODBC?

    I beleieve I have found the issue for at least one report.
    We have views in our production environment that call materialized views on another database via db link. They are generated nightly to reduce load for day-old reporting purposes on the Production server.
    I have found that the report in question uses a view with PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION. In the remote database, this is a VARCHAR2(1995 Bytes) column. However, when we create a view in our Production environment that simply calls this materialized view, it moves the length to VARCHAR2(4000).
    The oddest thing is that the longest string stored in the MV for that column is 71 characters long.
    I may be missing something here.... But the view that Discoverer created on the APPS side also has a column length for the PRODUCT_DESCRIPTION column of VARCHAR2(4000) and running the report manually returns results less than that - is this a possible bug?

    Ok, when you say you merged the Usage Tracking rpd, where did you get it from? Also, which tables did you create in the database for Usage Tracking? Please try to use the rpd here since the one that comes with the installation had issues: http://total-bi.com/2011/09/obiee-11g-usage-tracking-rpd/

  • Trouble shoot Usage Tracking

    I configured Usage tracking but for some reason S_NQ_Acct table is not populating rows. I checked the error log and I see there has been some problem with the usage tracking. I used the 10.1.3.4 usage tracking rpd and did update the connection pools to point to the right database.
    The rpd metadata columns and the tables created under the schema are consistent. I do not see any errors under Usage tracking canned reports or the columns. All i see is No results because S_NQ_ACCT table is always empty, even though I ran some reports.
    Here is my usage tracking settings under nqsconfig.ini file

    I tried to debug what that error is but i was not successfull in doing so. One thing that i wanted to mention here is, when creating the NQ_LOGIN_GROUP view, I edited th default script for creating the column LOGIN to USER_NAME as LOGIN is a key word in ORACLE database. I dont think that is causing the issue here, as I renamed the rpd Physical column of the table as well. That was the only change i made and rest of them are default settings.

    A lot of things smell fishy in your post. For a start your BI Server log says "Metadata Database Type: Oracle8.1" but then it says you are using "Client Driver Version 10.02.0001". Which database version are you running? If you are running 10g then make sure you set the correct database type in the Physical layer. If you are using Oracle then you should be using Oracle native drviers in your connection pool (OCI) however the PHYSICAL_TABLE_NAME definition has the "dbo" which seems to suggest you are using ODBC. Also the error you are gettign seems to suggest you are using ODBC. The insert the BI Server sends looks like this:
    INSERT INTO S_NQ_ACCT (USER_NAME, REPOSITORY_NAME, SUBJECT_AREA_NAME, NODE_ID, START_TS, START_DT, START_HOUR_MIN, END_TS, END_DT, END_HOUR_MIN, QUERY_TEXT, SUCCESS_FLG, ROW_COUNT, TOTAL_TIME_SEC, COMPILE_TIME_SEC, NUM_DB_QUERY, CUM_DB_TIME_SEC, CUM_NUM_DB_ROW, CACHE_IND_FLG, QUERY_SRC_CD, SAW_SRC_PATH, SAW_DASHBOARD, SAW_DASHBOARD_PG, PRESENTATION_NAME, RUNAS_USER_NAME, NUM_CACHE_INSERTED, NUM_CACHE_HITS)
    So try that manually to see if it works but it seems you need to to some RPD config changes first as it all looks too fishy to me.

  • Really weird problem with Usage Tracking!

    Hi guys
    We are running OBIEE 11.1.1.6.5 on Exalytics and allmost all is fine and dandy. We have though one weird problem. When we first enabled usage tracking, we sudddenly got some errors on some of our dashboards, saying that we didn't have the privilegies to create temporary tables. Allright we got our user (which is a shared user) the privilegies to create temporary tables, and the reports with the problems started working again! Awesome! But low and behold - then Usage Tracking stopped working, not a single mentioning in the logfiles about it. Maybe an error or, the acknowledgement that Usage Tracking has started, which is the normal.
    So basically we are running without Usage Tracking because the reports that gives us the problems are deemed more important... which they might be, but thats different story...
    Any ideas to what is going on here? We have collected Usage Tracking data, while the reports were broke, so im quite confident that the setup is correct. But why would it stop, when giving "create table" privilege to our shared user?

    Have you tried chaging the output to file instead of database?

  • OBIEE 11g - Usage Tracking Not Working

    I have enabled the usage Tracking in OBIEE 11g by using Setting up Usage Tracking in Oracle BI 11g guide.
    Still i am getting the following error
    Usage Tracking not started due to non-existent Usage Tracking table "12-Usage Tracking"."Usage Tracking Schema"."S_NQ_ACCT".
    In my RPD,
    Database Name : "12-Usage Tracking"
    Physical Schema Name : "Usage Tracking Schema"
    Physical Table Name : "S_NQ_ACCT"
    This table reside under BIPLATFORM Schema in Oracle.
    I have followed the steps mentioned in the Document, still unable to find why getting such error. Please point out if any mistake exists.

    I successfully set up usage tracking in Obiee 11 and the table S_NQ_ACCT gets a lot of new records. Basically it's working.
    In the nqserver.log I get some errors concerning a new table S_NQ_DB_ACCT:

    at OCI call OCIStmtExecute: INSERT INTO S_NQ_DB_ACCT (ID,LOGICAL_QUERY_ID,QUERY_TEXT,QUERY_BLOB,TIME_SEC,ROW_COUNT,START_TS,START_DT,START_HOUR_MIN,END_TS,END_DT,END_HOUR_MIN) VALUES (:1,:2,:3,:4,:5,:6,:7,:8,:9,:10,:11,:12).
    This is an additional Usage Tracking Table which didn't exist in OBIEE 10G.
    I configured the table as S_NQ_ACCT in the same place in the repositry/connection pool. Writing to this table should be possible.
    Does anybody has an idea what could be wrong? Does another user fill data to this table than the user which fills data to S_NQ_ACCT?

    I use the table within the default RCU created schema. What I don't understand ist why the table S_NQ_ACCT gets a lot of records (because I set the loglevel) but S_NQ_DB_ACCT keeps empty with the error in the nqserver.log. I mean if one table works then the other should be working too? I checked also the permissions which are the same for both tables.
