USB error message deactivating my printer

Hi,
I'm a recent convert to Mac and I'm glad I made the witch. It's been plain sailing with only one niggly problem.
When I power up an error message tells me " USB over current notice. ! A USB device is currently drawing too much power. The hub it is attached to will be deactivated."
In order to logon I have to press OK to the above and it then deactivates my printer. I receive the error message even when a USB is not connected.
I would appeciate any advice to solve this.
Thanks,
Finn

What brand and model is the router?
Also, is the wireless light a flashing blue light or a solid blue light?
Press the wireless button and go to settings>printer report>test report.  Does it show anything as failed?  If so, what items are listed?

Restart the computer and restart the printer. If you continue to have the problem the follow the steps Apple outlines in Reset Printing System feature article.

When I check the printer itself, I get confirmation that the access point is connected. I tried reloading the software and that seemed to have solved the problem for awhile but I'm experiencing the same problem. Any ideas what is causing this?

Did you delete all receipts with iDVD in the file name  with either a .PKG or .BOM extension that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder and from the /var/db/receipts/  folder before installing the new copy?  If not then do so and delete the new application also.

  • Error Message:Can't print illustration. Color Management systems inconsistent.

I am getting this error message, "Can't print illustration. Color management systems are inconsistent." I just upgraded to CS5(from CS2) on a Dell Studio using an Epson WorkForce 1100 or an Epson Sylus NX400. I am a rank amateur in AI & have no idea how to fix this. I do not seem to have the option to turn off color management in either of my printers to default to AI. All I am trying to print are some labels using regular fonts and a few smoke brushes for color. These are not wildly colorful or complicated. I KNOW I should be using a Mac but I do not have one...sigh...
    Thanks for ANY help.
    Marion.

not sure I understand the core problem...but what happens if you Save As "Adobe PDF" and Convert to your Print Space there in Output (then print from Acrobat or place in InDesign, heck maybe even open the .pdf in Ai and try again):

    Thanks John

    Hi
If the cartridge isn't empty and you've tried the usual troubleshooting (which includes cleaning the contacts on the cartridge and in the printer) then it's probably best to contact Phone Support for a possible replacement.
You can check if the cartridge is still within warranty by checking the warranty ends date here

Why do I receive an error message that my printer is paused and I am unable to print ?

Dunno if you are trying to add an IP printer, if so, the following resolved my issues: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1522307?start=0&tstart=0. Bascially, delete and then add the printer and choose HP JetDirect Socket. Props to Pahu from Sydney.

  • CM1312 NFP: WIndows 7: USB Error message ~"Lost Connection"

With the 1312 connected to my Windwos 7 desktop, periodically Windows gives an error message that indicates that it has lost connection to the printer.  Unplugging and replugging the USB cable fixes the problem.  Otherwise the print & scan functions work perfectly.  Symptomatically it appears as if the printer goes to sleep and stops responding to whatever "keep alive" messages Windows might be sending.  Is there a setting in the printer, in Windows or in the printer driver software that can prevent this message?
BTW, the other way to work around this problem is to just access the printer via the Ethernet but the scan funciton is not accessible via the network (an unfortunate limitation).

    aluniewski,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial printer. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/ .
    I hope this helps.

  • Error message in shared printer queue.

I am now receiving an error message in my Macbook printer queues whenever I try to print from this Macbook to a shared Epson C120 printer  attached by USB to my PowerMac G5.
When I highlight the queue line I wish to print, an  error message reads : can't open `/private/var/spool/cups/tmp/50cea92d5d0a0'.
This has just recently happened.  I have checked and rechecked my printer/fax options and my sharing options in both computer's systems and everything is as it should be.  I can print just fine if I am using my PowerMac G5.
I Googled the error message and found a reader's fix from an Apple Support forum which I hoped would work.  This was was to delete the printer in both computer's System Prefs, restart both computers and then put back the printer and sharing in both computer's System Prefs.  This did not work.
I have opened  http://localhost:631 and read the CUPS pages but this is a bit too technical for me and I did not know waat to look for to allow the printer to be shared..
I have made no changes to either Mac so I don't know why this just started.  I used to have no trouble printing from my Macbook.
What do I need to do?
    Walter
PowerMac G5  running Leopard 10.5.8 with an Epson C120 printer attached to it by USB cable.
Mackbook running Snow Leopard 10. 6.8.

    Mike,
Thanks for referring me to  //support.apple.comkb/HT3771.
I carefully read the support.apple.comkb/HT3771 article and found a critical error in my Macbook Sharing Prefs page.
I realized that in Macbook's System Prefs under Shared, the two square boxes (printer and users) are empty and the + and -  symbols below the boxes are grayed out so I cannot enter the name of my computer in the printer box nor can I enter a user's name in the users box.
I now remember that when I was able to successfully print from the Macbook these two boxes had info in them. The printer box had the name of my Epson printer and the user box said Everyone  -  can print.
I also think that the required info for these two boxes was automatically inserted.
So I now I will somehow have to get info in these two boxes in order for me to use shared printing with my Macbook
The issue is How to do this.
The Macbook's System Prefs for Print&Fax appears to be OK.  I can add or delete my Epson printer. Clicking the + button under the printer box always shows my printer in this pref.
I also see that in the Macbook's print queue the jobs all start with Hold for Authorization. Does this mean anything to you?
    I appreciate you help,
    Walter

  • SL & USB error message

I use this particular Mac as a workstation for Logic Pro. I have two USB cables connected to the computer. One is for a powered hub (hosting a midi interface and an iLok key) and the second is for an audio interface. These devices are plugged into a power strip. Before I finish a session, I turn off the power strip to which these devices are connected. I then get the following error message on the Mac:
"Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled. To prevent damaging your computer, the USB device drawing too much power has been disabled. Other devices may have also been disabled. When you disconnect the device drawing too much power, your other USG devices will be enabled again."
Is this a problem? Am I doing the computer any harm? I'd rather not be reaching around the back of the iMac to unplug the USB cables every time I turn off the power strip if I don't have to.
    Thanks for any thoughts,
    Jim

    Hey DaddyPaycheck,
Thanks for the reply. Here's what I do, in order.
    1. Quit Logic.
    2. Disconnect external hard drives.
    3. Turn off power strip to which the powered USB hub is connected. This is when I get the error message.
So after I cut the power to the USB hub, is it the trying to draw power from the computer? I'm not sure where else I can connect the hub. The computer has a wireless keyboard, so no USB port there. And I could always disconnect by pulling the plug on the back of the machine (though being an iMac, it's a pain to get reconnected as everything is in the back and virtually invisible). My other option is to just leave the power strip on and say screw it.

  • Even with nothing connected to my Mac Pro, I get a USB error message

Even with nothing connected, I get this error message:
Because a USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled.
I have restarted a few times and restarted in safe mode, and reset the PRAM and it is still there.
    Any ideas?

Even with the mouse and keyboard unplugged, I got the same error message. It always gives me 5 warning messages in 5 separate dialog boxes. The 2 USB ports on the front of the machine are disabled, and the 3 in the back are ok.
Profiler recognizes the "Hub in Apple Pro Keyboard" that lists the keyboard and the USB laser mouse (Logitec).
I'll give the SMC reset a try, but I have read in another thread where it didn't work for the guy with the problem, and his final solution was a complete re-install of the system software. I'm thinking maybe an upgrade to Lion 10.7 might fix it without having to rebuild my whole computer. I'm using 10.6.8.
    -I'm still perplexed.

Please advice how this can be resolved.

  • Error Message on the printer - Remove and check right cartridge

How to fix error message:  "remove and check right cartridge" which you have done numerous times, plus cleaned cartridge nozzle.  Also, I have turned off power to printer, but nothing changed.  Help for HP Officejet 7210 All-in-One needed.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Funny that multiple people have this problem appear just after 9/1 on multiple printers/all-in-ones. I wonder how many people have this problem and don't report it here. Mine is on a 2710a all-in-one in excellent condition except for this cartridge problem.
My contacts are not suddenly damaged and it is a relatively new well within the expiration date genuine HP cartridge that we have had for more than a few months. It has not been out of the printer nor has the printer been moved. It sits in a clean room with very little temperature variation from 72 degrees. All printers should be so lucky.
This is not the first time nor the first printer I've had cartridge problems with HP printers. This is my third one and I'm done with HP printers. I love all other aspects of the printer but this one is infuriating enough to sour me for good.

  • C++ 2012 package (11.0.50727) & error message during installation printer software

    Hello to you all,
I've recently bought a new laptop for my daughter (a HP Pavilion Touch Smart 11).
When I try to install the software needed for installation for the printer (HP J6410) I get the following error.
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local-\Temp\7zS46SD\Setup\de..
Now, I've already tried pretty much about everything. Even a full factory recovery, installing all of the needed updates, after that upgrading to windows 8.1, installing of the updates for that OS version too, and then trying to install the software again.
No succes, but the more I try, the more I'm convinced the problem might lay in the C++ 2012 redistributable package (version 11.0.50727). This is why.
I've got more laptops here at home. The one I have for my own is a HP 15 Notebook and has Windows 8.1 installed on it as well. Now here's the funny thing.
I managed to install the software on my own laptop (the HP 15, with an Intel processor) but no succes on the laptop for my daughter (the HP 11 TS, with an AMD processor).
When I looked at the installed C++ packages I noticed that the laptop for my daugther has the C++ 2012 package installed, and my own doesn't. So that's why I think the problem must lay there. Also because on this page (http://www.freewarefiles.com/Microsoft-Visual-C-2012-Redistributable-x64_program_78882.html)
it is said that it supports Windows 8 (which was pre-installed on the laptop for my daughter), but Windows 8.1 isn't mentioned.
I would be very thankfull if someone could help me resolving this issue.
(Note: I've tried to get help on the support forum of HP.  More information on how I resolved the issue, in May 2014, on my own laptop, and how it is related to C++, can be found here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/Officet-J6410-won-t-install-under-Windows-8-1-64-bit/m-p/3935396#M142540

I most thankfully await your response(s).
    Update (30-9-2014, 23:14):
I've written above that I tried to re-install the printer. With the original CD, and also the software one can download on the HP site (OJ_AIO_J6400_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.exe). Now, it seemed a good idea do uninstall the software.
Yep, you guess it .. I made my problem worse.
When I tried to uninstall it with the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\7zS6A01\util\ccc\uninstall.exe I got the following message at reboot. It says you have to click OK to terminate the program, but it doesn't await your response. It's there,
for a glimpse of a moment, and disappears. It said (in Dutch):
'De instructie op .....xe01 verwijst naar geheugen op 0x00000000. Een lees- of schrijfbewerking op het geheugen is mislukt. read
Klik op OK als u het programma wilt beëindigen'.
It looks very similar to the error message here: http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=8d18c288-aeb4-41c0-983f-6798cfa178a0 that I found in this topic: http://answers.microsoft.com/nl-nl/windows/forum/windows8_1-windows_install/windows-81-afsluitfout-explorerexe-0xe06640b9/0c64290f-2e0b-47fc-a38a-adb9ceb5a5ac
Now, after this (that is: the uninstalling op the printer software) I returned to a system recovery point I made before the installation of the HP printer software. So that can not be the problem anymore. However, the error message kept returning.
So I'm pretty much convinced it must have something to do with explorer.exe, the msi-program, compatability-issues and the C++ packages. How to proceed now from here?
Should I uninstall the C++ 2012 package? If so, can I do that safely? Do I need a newer version of the C++ packages? Where can I find it?
Please, help me out? I most thankfully await your answer(s).
