Use Dynamic Parameter to call iView

Hi,
I have a VC Model with an HTML view. I want to add the URL of another deployed iView from a different model to my HTML view.
The problem is that I need to pass parameters dynamically via the URL to the called iView. The iView I want to call consists of a data service with an output table and and a start point connected to the variables port. The variable is:
@Business_Area_Range
The URL of the deployed iView as obtained via preview from within the portal is:
http://145.82.189.233:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.gm.cnt!2fvcmodels!2fcom.myComp.myProduct.17NL.Test5!2fcom.myComp.myProduct.iviews!2fcom.myComp.myProduct.17NM.Iview1?sap-config-mode=true
I need to pass Business Area through the URL to this iView. Is this even possible? Please clarify with an example if possible. Help is appreciated, thanks.
Regards

Anyone? Have I posted this to the wrong forum maybe?

• How to use dynamic parameter when a report is created using Stored Procedures

Hi all,
any one have the idea of how to use dynamic parameter in crystal report XI R2
when report is created using Stored Procedure.
Regards
shashi kant chauhan

Hi
You can create an SQL command in Database Expert > Expand your datasource > Add command
Then enter the SQL query that will create the list of values to supply to the user
eg select field1,field2 from table
Then edit the parameter of the report. These will be the SP parameters adn can be seen in field explorer.
Change the parameter type to Dynamic
Under the word Value click on Click here to add item
Scroll down to your Command and select one of the values that you want to appear in the list
e.g field1
Then click on the Parameters field - this is essential to create the param
You can edit other options as required
That should do it for you.
I must say that i use CR 2008 connected to Oracle 10g SP, but i reckon this will work for SQL DB and CR XI as well
Best of luck

• Failed to read parameter object using Dynamic Parameter

Hi All
In one of my report I am using dynamic parameter, I tried to publish the report in BOXI and got the following error:
"Failed to read data from report file C:DOCUME1...LOCALS1Temp~crw{u2026u2026..-u2026.-u2026.-u2026.-u2026u2026u2026u2026}.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object"
but if I change that to static parameter I am able to publish it.
I am using Crystal Report 2008 Version: 12.1.0.892
Product Type: Full
BO Version: Product: 12.1.0 © 2008 Business Objects
I went thru many forums and came up with some settings while publishing but nothing worked out. And some mentioned about the service packs and fix pack issues. But I am not sure which should be installed in order to make this work for my versions.
Can anyone please suggest, what can be done to publlish a report with dynamic parameter?
Thanks

Dear ronando
why you don't use IAC iViews?
it's for that kind of thinks that you can use that xD
In the System you can setup the SSO config's and you can add the parameter by URL

Hi,
I am having difficulty using Crystal Reports Server XI to deploy reports that were made in Crystal Reports XI.
When I create a report that uses a dynamic parameter listing, I get the follow error when I try to install it onto the server:
Failed to read data from report file C:\WINDOWS\Temp\myreport.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object
But if I were to use a static parameter listing, the server will load up the report just fine. Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong and I need to do to fix the problem. As many details as possible would be helpful.

• Printing parameter on report - using dynamic parameter in XI

CA Forum: Formula
I need to have the following print on the report when using parameter that accepts multiple values:
1 value selected - prints that value
2 or more values selected - prints "multiple"
All values selected - prints "all"
Example: parameter "Colors"
Values- blue, green, red, yellow, etc (more may be added/deleted at any time)
When just blue is selected - "blue" prints
When just red is selected - "red" prints
When red and yellow are selected - "multiple" prints
When all are selected >> "all prints
Any help would be appreciated.

I reduced the formula to (I didn't expect a solution for "all"):
If count({?parameter}) = 1 or then {?parameter}
else
If count({?parameter}) > 1 then 'Multiple'
and received this error: "This array must be subscripted. For example: Array[i]."
If count({?parameter}) = 1 then "One"

If count({?parameter}) > 1 then 'Multiple'

• Problem in passing/returning objects over dynamic web service call

Hi Friends,
I am beginner in java web service.
Here is the problem I am facing when I pass/return user defined objects to remote web service method using dynamic we service call.
The client can call the remote web service method in 2 ways.
1. By generating client stubs using WSDL file
- In this case, I am able to pass/return the user defined objects to remote method without any issue only when the server side web services are deployed in any server(jboss)
- But in java 1.6 & above, the web services can be deployed without server using endpoint. In this case, I am not able to pass/return objects over web service calls.
2. Without generating client stubs (dynamic web service call)
- This will establish a connection at run time using the given WSDL file (I have attached the document). I have to form an XML(This will contain API name, arguments) string as input at run time
- In this case, it allows only string as argument while passing & returning.
Please let me know if you can help me on this.

• URL iView Problem - How to Use URL Parameter of Type 'User Information'

Hello URL iView experts
I am currently working on integration of backend-functionality with the help of an URL iView.
I want to use a parameter of type 'User Information'. In SAP Help Library it is said, that it is possible to set the value of a parameter according to a dynamic query on the users attributes. (Link SAP HELP)
It is also said, that one can retrieve the Logon ID of the users account.(Attribute Name: j_user -> Link SAP HELP Attributes )
I can choose the type 'User Information' but i don't know what to specify in the field 'Value'.
I have made a screenshot of the problem.->[Link to screenshot|http://img66.imageshack.us/img66/7782/urliviewproblemfrsdnthrel3.jpg]
But if i am calling the application this way, he doesn't retrieve the Logon-ID of the account, but he just uses the 'j_user' as value for the parameter.
Can you tell me, what i need to specify in the field value?
Best Regards
Marcus
Edited by: Marcus Böhm on Jun 2, 2008 1:22 PM

Hi Marcus,
> It is also said, that one can retrieve the Logon ID of the users account
This is not correct; on the help.sap.com-page concerning the URL-iView-Parameters, it is printed that "other attributes (general, account, group, role) are not supported". The j_user attribute is part of the account group, so - not supported.
For your needs, it may be a better choose to use the AppIntegrator, which offers such a possibility by using "<User.LogonUid>"; see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/36/5e3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm and https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/e0cbc309-ff89-2a10-8bad-bcde4c152ecb

ReportViewer.Show

Set cn = Nothing
End Sub

How many tables is there in the report? And, do you have any subreports? I'd recommend gaining experience with this by creating as simple a report as possible - one table - one field, create a recordset, pass that to this report. Does it work? It should. Now we have a bit of confidence and experience, so increase the complexity. But let me know answers to the two Qs above.

• RFC-Call using dynamic Parameters

Dear Forum!
I'd like to call a RFC function module using a dynamic parameter list.
I can either call
CALL FUNCTION bapiname DESTINATION fsystem.
or
CALL FUNCTION bapiname
PARAMETER-TABLE lt_param
EXCEPTION-TABLE lt_excep.
but not both combined!
The ABAP docu says, both should work together. If using DESTINATION the same options as for standard FM calls are allowed... (seen at: Transaction ABAPHELP, search for CALL FUNCTION, choose topic 4 for RFC)
Who is wrong? The docu or me? How can I combine both?
Cheers
Torsten

Hi Abir,
thanks for your helpful answer.
But I don't understand this:
For calling a remote enabled FM, it needs to be released which means the parameters would be fixed and thus the RFC layer does not allow using parameter table in such cases.
The FM resides on a remote system. It does not matter me, whether the FM is released, fixed or done with something other. As long it is reachable, I'm fine.
I am wondering about the fact, that I can call a local FM dynamically, but cannot do so for a remote call.
In the online documentation you can read, that a remote call function (with parameter destination ) has the same options like a standard call function. Actually this statement seems to be wrong. Right?
Best regards

• What should I use as parameter name in call.addParameter in WS DII client

I'm using dynamic invocation interface to call a web service in Oracle OC4J.
The part of WSDL "Types" is:
<element name="myType" type="tns:myType" />
<complexType name="myType">
<sequence>
<element name="sss" nillable="true" type="string" />
</sequence>
</complexType>
...My J2SE client has following code I belive create problem:
call.addParameter("sss", input,MyType.class, ParameterMode.IN);when I invoke the web service, I got error:
javax.xml.rpc.soap.SOAPFaultException: caught exception while handling request: unexpected element name: expected={http://mypackage/B2BGateway/types}myType, actual=sss
I changed my code according to this message as it expected to be:
call.addParameter("{http://mypackage/types}myType",
input,MyType.class, ParameterMode.IN);I got :
HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedActionException: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Error parsing envelope: (2, 179) Expected name instead of {.
seems the "{" should not be part of parameter name.
Then, what should I use as parameter name.
BTW, the web service server side code should works fine as I can test it with others client.
Thanks

Moved one step further:
I changed abit to code:
call.addParameter("myType", input,MyType.class, ParameterMode.IN);I can see the server side got SOAP request:
<env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

</myType>
</env:Body>
</env:Envelope>As you can see, the problem in the generated request is "myType" does not have namespace
Could someone tell me how to fix it.

When i added one table and try to fetch records using dyanmic prameters. after that i am not be able to find the dynamic parameter option when i referesh my report.

Hi Kishore,
I have tested the issue step by step by following you description, while the first issue works well in my local environment. Based on my research, this can be caused by the lookup expression or it indeed return Male value based on the logic. If you use the
expression below, it will indeed only return the Male record. So please try to double-check the record in the two datasets and the expression in your environment:
=lookup(first(Fields!ProgramID.Value,"DataSet1"),Fields!ProgramID.Value,Fields!Gender.Value,"DataSet2")
As to the second issue, please try to use the following expression:
=Count(Lookup(fields!ProgramID.value,fields!ProgramID.value,fields!Gender.value,"DataSet2"))
Besides, if this issue still exist, in order to trouble shoot this issue more efficiently, could you please post both the .rdl file with all the size properties to us by the following E-mail address? It is benefit for us to do further analysis.

• How can we use C# to read dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt?

I'm using Cystal Report 2008. We know starting from CR XI we can create dynamic parameters, the list of items of this kind of parameter are fetching from database. So in general the SQLs to get the list of values for dynamic parameters are stored in the .rpt.
In Crystal Report Designer, if I preview a report with dynamic parameters, it will first query the database and then show the input dialog with list of values from database for user to choose. My question is can we implement the same thing by our C# code? I'm planning to use C# code to read this dynamic parameter's value list from .rpt and render them on the web page. Then pass back the user selected values to the .rpt to run the report after user make the choice. I didn't find any APIs can do this. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance!!

Can you explain a bit in detail, I have similar scenario. I am using the following code but not getting the Column name for dynamic parameter list.

try
string vParameterFieldName;
