Use of a Monthly Data table

Hi All,
In our data warehouse we use an ORD_ATTRIB table and also a table named ORD_ATTRIB_MTD for monthly data. The later table is a kind of staging for monthly data. In Analytic repository, what logic need to be implemented so that if any date independent report will look into both tables (union query with suitable date clauses) and for any date specific report the repository will build suitable query for corresponding regular ATTRIB or ATTRIB_MTD table as the case may be.
I work full time on analytic repository, and your expert suggestion will be highly appreciated

Thanks a million for your response.
The data columns are exactly same in both the tables. There is no aggregation of one into other. MTD table all the time contains data updated for the current month. All the rest data with same granularity but past upto previous month is in the other table. Secondly these are DIM columns. The connected fact tables also has similar distinction of FACT and FACTMTD, where in data in similar way for only current month is in FACTMTD.
What I notice is that the previous developer has done the work on analytic repository, but no completely. Generated query shows call to FACT and FACT_MTD tables distinctly in the two parts of union SQL query. But the problem is to get these two parts of the union to call on ATTRIB (dimension table) and ATTRIB_MTD as the case may be.
Presently, I do not find a desired clue in configuring source for above logical fact table, which I can use for configuring source for above logical DIM tables..

Issue with appending data to JSF HTML - Data Table Component

I am following the article from Oracle Magazine title Generating a JSF Data Table:

SMP 3.0 Agentry: Where to put data table files?

Hi,
we are using several file system data tables in our application which load their data from a file named "datatables.txt".
In SMP 2.3 this file was placed inside the "tables" directory of the Agentry server. In SMP 3.0 we tried the com.sap.mobile.platform.server.agentry.application directory without success. What ist the right place for that file now?

Yes, I would recommend logging a support ticket related to this so it can be reviewed and hopefully migrated to the new application specific directory.

I am new to this tool, we are developing a HR report for emp on leave or absentees. we have data since 1982 in our tables. we want to have a date table and dimension where we can give have a hierarchy for year, month, day, so that we can design our dashboards based on time. how we can do that in OBIEE Administrator and can we do it in warehouse builder as well, if so, how. ( we have a column for date in the table by name 'leave start date' and 'leave end date', can we use this and create our own table with year month and day as separate columns).

Need to delete specific Months Data from SQL Server Table

So i have one table which contains 5 years old data, now business wants to keep just one year old data and data from qurter months i.e. (jan, mar, June, sep and December), i need to do this in stored procedure. how i can achive this using month lookup table.

Hi Devin,
In a production environment, you should be double cautious about the data. I have no idea why you’re about to remove the data just years old. In one of the applications I used to support, the data retention policy is like to keep raw data for latest month
and the elder data would get rollup as max, min, average and so on to store in another table. That’s a good example for data retention.
In your case I still suggest you keep the elder data in another table. If the data size is so huge that violates your storage threshold, get the data rollup and store the aggregated would be a good option.
Anyway if you don’t care about the elder data, you can just delete them with code like below.
DELETE

WHERE YEAR(dateColumn) < YEAR(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP) OR (MONTH(dateColumn) not in (1,3,6,9,12) AND YEAR(dateColumn) = YEAR(CURRENT_TIMESTAMP))
In some cases to remove data from very large table, DELETE performs bad. TRUNCATE would be a better option which works faster. Read more by clicking
here. In your case, if necessary, you can reference the below draft code.

Using Highlight for columns in data tables

Hi, I'm using the "Highlight" function of SpryEffects in
combination with the sorting features. My HTML structure is a
simple data table, with a repeating region on the table row, so it
pulls in as many rows there are pieces in the attached XML file.
When I sort by one of the column headers at the top, I want to
highlight that whole column, so users can see what they're sorting
by. I'm able to get the first row of the data table highlighted,
but none of the following rows work. I'm pretty sure the problem is
that the highlight function only works when you use an id to define
the element that you want highlighted. If it's in a repeating row,
it sees many ids on the page, and only applies the highlight to the
first one. I want to change the id to a class, so I can put
multiple ones on the page and have it work, but I can't see how to
do that in the SpryEffects.js file.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to do this? Thanks.

Problem with Exception Worksheet using Data from Supply Plan Data Table

I added a series for a flag that indicates whether product is sourced from multiple manufacturing sites for a given customer and item. The flag is on the supply plan data table because it depends on the scenario. I created an exception worksheet for when the flag is set but all combinations are being displayed. If the flag is not set for a given combo then "Selected Page Item has No Data" is displayed in place of the table. I want only the combinations that meet the exception to be shown. I tried setting up an exception worksheet for customer shipments which is also on the supply plan data table but saw the same issue with all combinations being displayed whether or not the condition is met. Does anyone know of any issues with using exception worksheets with the supply plan data table? I searched the documentation and saw that exceptions behave differently with promotion series but this isn't a promotion.

Thanks. We have come up with a workaround. While the combinations on the left are not affected by the exception, the data in the main table is so we moved as many levels as possible into the table. The performance is slow but the data is more useful, especially when exported into Excel. I was hoping for a better solution but I guess we'll just have to stick with what we've come up with.

Use M table as it it the view on time dependent(P table) and time independent(Q table) tables.
M table is view on time dependent and time independent attributes, you can see characteristic values and all the attributes for the Characteristic.
The tables that go in the view are the Master Data Table and the Time-Dependent Master Data Table. If the characteristic only has time-dependent attributes, only the time-dependent master data table goes in. If the characteristic has only non-time-dependent attributes, only the master data table goes in.

If the attribute is not time-dependent please use /BI0/PCUSTOMER, else use /BIC/QRCOSTCTR.

1) Mention the fields that you wish from database table (incase you don't need all the fields from the database table).
2) Don't use the INTO CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF TABLE ztable clause.
3)Instead use INTO TABLE ztable (But take care that during the declaration of the ztable, the fields declared are in order that in database table to fetch the Records in sequence).
