Use of Alternate Components in BOM for Production

Hi Experts,
We implement for a customer who are manufacturers of Electronic Products.
There are possibilities of producing a Finished Products with an Alternate Child Parts some times.
Is it possible to automate this.
More examplified below.
XYZ is a Finished Product whose Components are A, B, C.
To produce the same XYZ, the components used may be
A1, B, C or
A, B, C1 or
A1, B, C1. So there are binary concept number of combinations.
Since the components are more in number & there are chain alternates (i.e. if one changes other has to be changed), it is not practically possible to maintain many number of BOMs for a single Finished Product.
Is there any way implement this scenario upfront.

Hello Friend,
SAP does not have such type of functionality we can make one bill of material for one finished Item.
Manually:-
You may try like make big bill of material ,which have all alternative materials ,raw material in single BOM.
and whenever you make production order delete that materials which you are not going to use that production.
Import from excel file:-
If we want to make combination then goto excel and import it by Data transfer workbench(DTW)
i am working in same industry , i m using same in excel make all combination and varified it engg. then import in Bill of materials as well production order.
for import i have made .bat file AND end user put the excel file in predefined location and click on .bat file it execute and all data import in SAP with using manually DTW.

1. Create row level UDF for issue from production order.
2. Assign below FMS to this UDF and set it auto refresh based on quantity.
SELECT T0.[Quantity] FROM IGN1 T0 WHERE T0.[BaseRef] = $[$13.61.number] and T0.[ItemCode] = $[$13.1.0]

Bom for production order and subcontracting

Dear guru ,
I have a finished material that can be use both produced in-house and procured externally with subcontracting.
Now i use one only bom with usage 1 (production ) for the two process.
I have a problem for one component.
For subcontracting i must consider this component as a phantom (with explosion of its components) , instead for the in-house production I must consider this component as a normal stock item.
Can I use only one bom or I must create an alternative bom for manage the two cases ?

In my understanding this may create discrepancies during the material transfer from own stock to the vendor and also during
month end checking process.
What's the problem of maintaining that component as a stock item?why it should be treated as a phantom only for sub-
contracting?
Even if you are maintaining 2 different alternative BOM's for the final product one with the component as a normal assembly and
the next one as a phantom,you will be facing issues during costing purpose and material inventory also.

Bom for production order - Function module

I'm looking for a function module or bapi which can provide me with the BOM for a specific production order.
The FM should also handle changes to the BOM and just show me the updated BOM on the production order.

You can use this FM BAPI_PRODORD_GET_DETAIL if you want to get the BOM components related to the production order or
use FM,CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 for getting BOM multi-level display.
There is no functional Module through which you can do BOM changes in the production order or in the BOM and it has to
reflect the changes in the order immediately.

Taking the Customer Components inside plant for Production process

Hi All,
I have got one Businee Scenario for i need to map in SAP.
Scenario: Customer is sending the Components for making the finished goods. In this case Business will be using the customeru2019s components for production process.
Now, How to take the components inside the plant for the Production Processing
In this below points needs to be consider:
1.     Components Stock should be Stock of this Production Plant
2.     Components valuation should not effected of production Plant
3.     These components should be used for the Production
Please suggest the Suitable Process in SAP.

Try this..
You can have the BOM of the Finl material with the customers materials as the COMPONENTS...
Then in cs02 ,double click the item numbers (components) and uncheck the costing relevency indicator..
This will make the accountability in stock and not in valuation..

Hi,
After giving 'X' in the procurment type, maintain quota arrange usage as '4'.
Then use T.code meq1, for creating quotas.
Give the material no. & then give validdity date. Double click the validity date, this will take you to another screen.
Here give the procurment type as internal production, the %quota & the prod version in the 'Version field'& then in the second row choose external procurement & choose sub-contracting in the special procurement field, then enter the %quota & prod version in the 'version' field.
After this in T.code omi4 (for lot-size), check if the lot size you use has got a tick in the splitting quota. If not check this indicator & then run mrp. Based on the quota %, pl order & pur req will be created.

Can I use forms and reports 6I runtime for production environment?

I have a doubt.
I know if i use or install developer (forms and reports 6I) both, runtime and builder, I do require a license.
But If I buy the standard edition license for database (in production or deployment), and I wanna use the runtimes (from forms and reports) only as runtime not to modify or develop anything, is it possible? just to download it or install it in RUNTIME mode?
Is it possible and legal?

Can I download that developer and install both forms and report runtime (yes only runtime) to access a licensed standard edition database? The problem is, you can't download that version any more! All download links to Forms version earlier that 10g R2 have been removed from Oracle's web site. You might still be able to download Forms 6i from My Oracle Support, but this requires a paid license agreement with Oracle to access My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
So, if you already have a copy of Oracle Developer Forms and Reports 6i then all you need to do is contact your local Oracle Sales Representative to get an official answer to your licensing question. If you don't have a copy of Forms 6i, then you are pretty much out of luck unless you know someone who has a copy!

Canon MT-24X; for use outside a Fotoflex light cube for product shots?

About Canon MT-24X macro twin flash unit.
1.
I use a light cube with 32" in. from Fotoflex (LINK REMOVED - SEE FORUM GUIDELINES ON POSTING LINKS TO 3RD PARTY SITES)
to shot some objects.
Will I be able to use the MT-24X flashes away from camera with table tripods and put them on each side of the cube to filter the light and most important are the flashes strong enough for such a distance? What´s you opinion as a users?

Can I use this twin flashes away from the camera in a wireless mode with some kind of additional wireless unit?

I want that MT-24X flash because I own a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens. A very tricky lens and need proper light.
At x5 magnification light in needed ,-)
I thought about using just the MT-24X for regular macro shots but also with the cube. But it seems not possible.
Now. seeking for a solution I need confirmation on a different setup that is:
I think the MT-24X can be used as a master>slave set with another Canon flash (don´t know yet if all if some of the Canon flashes). You as owner must know about this wireless comunication capabilities.
Imagine a scenario with a still life object inside my cube.
That way I would be able to use the MT-24X mounted as it should be, in front of the cube to make the shot and use an additional (one or two) wireless Canon flashes standing at the sides of the cube.
Two kinds of light: direct from the macro flashes (front) and diffused by the cube from the sides.
I don´t know if I´ll need 4 flashes but would like to know if this is a working possibility.

HELP!a class item in BOMs for select mat. components in a configurable GMTL

Hello SAP colleague,
Does anyone of you know what be used as a class item in BOMs for PM?
1. I create a class as the components in a configurable bill of material of the category Assembly
2. I create Configurable General Maintenance Task List and assign a material of the category Assembly to the general maintenance task list in the task list header ?
3. Unfortunately, I can't select the material components of a class item in BOMs and assign them to the task list (Msg. Item category K is not defined as a material component).
4. If I create a maintenance order and assign a configurable general maintenance task list to it, the system recognize that the general maintenance task list is assigned to a configuration profile. It calls up characteristic valuation and only selects the relevant operations for the order from the super task list, based on the object dependencies that I specified. But system don't select the material components of a class item in BOMs.
May I use a class item in BOMs for select material components in a configurable GMTL ?

If you have a list item where you have:
Display A value 1
Display B value 2
Display C value 3
Display D value 4
If want to initial the value of the item to be A, you can set the initial value of the item to 1 in the property pane.
Otherwise in an initialisation triger have
:block.list_item := 1;

How to set Blocking Indicator for product specific TransportationLanes?

I'm facing a problem while trying to set the blocking indicator for product specific Transportation Lanes-external procurement.
How can i proceed on the same?
I've figured out 2 methods for blocking the product specific TLanes.
1. using /SAPAPO/TR_TL_TRANSFER_BAPI.
2. using BAPI_TRLSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI.
I tried using the BAPI - /SAPAPO/TR_TL_TRANSFER_BAPI, which comes inside the DELETE BAPI - BAPI_TRLSRVAPS_DELMULTI. Although I had passed the parameters reg. external procurement, nothing seemed to be happening in the system. There was no blocking indicator - D(locked and flagged for deletion) set against the subjected TLane. In fact, to my amazement, the BAPI didn't return even a single msg. BAPIRETURN internal table after execution was empty.
Here, I'm passing:
(IV_LOGQS) TYPE /SAPAPO/LOGQS
(IV_LOGSYS) TYPE LOGSYS
(IV_CALLER) TYPE /SAPAPO/MD_CALLER
(IT_TR) TYPE /SAPAPO/TR_TTD_TR

I haven't tried on the second method yet. Is there any other programming alternative for setting the blocking indicator of a TLane / multiple Tlanes?
Could anyone pls explain and guide me on a suitable method to be chosen and the process to be followed, parameters to be passed, etc.

Use the standard BAPI: BAPI_TRLSRVAPS_SAVEMULTI2 (according to SCM version you are using)
to update the deletion flag for product specific T-lane, in this BAPI you have to pass the data to EXTERNAL_PROCUREMENT parameter table in which LOCKED_FLG field is there in which you can pass the "D" for deletion or block flag.
Also you have to pass the same entries in EXTERNAL_PROCUREMENT_X parameter table of this BAPI.
If any further help required, refer the documentation of BAPI or let me know.

Alternate Bom for a finished product has huge varience in cost estimate

I have created alternate BOMs for a finished material. One is local raw materials and another has imported raw materials. Goods are produced using both these boms but in one period i can release cost estimate of one BOM. Thats why there is a huge variance in cost estimate when alternate BOM is used for the material. kindly give me a solution as to how i can fix this issue.

Patch 7303030 FAILED: file cst4274743.sql on worker 1 for product bom use

I'm a noob to the Oracle world, and are trying to update our system from 12.0.4 to 12.1.3 I got to the point of installing patch 7303030 and I keep get this FAILED: file cst4274743.sql on worker 1 for product bom username BOM. I have looked in the threads but have not found anything that has helped so far. I have tried restarting the worker but got the same result. can any one point me in some direct so i can complete my update in my test environment.

Adding alternate component in the same BOM for 2 level BOM setup

BOM_A components are BOM_B, Comp_A1, Comp_A2
BOM_B components are Comp_B1, Comp_B2
The need is to have an a BOM with components Comp_B1, Comp_B2, Comp_C1. if I create this as an Alt of BOM_B, how can I use this alternate in BOM_A?
Can anyone please let me know if there is a way to specify the alternate of BOM components in multi level BOM?

Can you please specify the exact business requirement.
Why this is required at BOM Level?
If BOM_B (comp_B1,comp_B2 & comp_C1) is Alt. bom & WIP job completed using this Alt. BOM then syste will take care / consider valuation as per Alt. BOM for first level bom (BOM_A) WIP job.
