Use of Groupspace in Weblogic 9.2

Hi Everyone
I make a testGsPortal.portal in my Workshop for Weblogic environment and in its placeholder which is two colum layont i placed Calander on right placeholder and task on left one, then make it .community file by right clicking on it. Now if i open my Portal Administration Console then i am not able to see testGsPortal.community so that i could make necessary changes and convert according to my convinency.
Can anyone tell me all the steps how to make and use portal in community or groupspace in brief i would be verymuch thankful.
Thanks in Advance.

Ghanshayam,
Basically groupspace is a type of communnity desktop. You can use groupspace portlets or groupspace concepts where you need collobaration.
You can use this for sharing your work, knowledge, information etc in the collobarative enviroment.
Users need to be able to create and manage their own Community desktops
Groups of users need a collaborative environment with application functionality that is unique to that collaborative environment
You want to create custom membership roles that can affect application functionality in unique ways
Hope this answer satisfies your query.

    Hi Vishnu
Looks like a classloader issue. BEA class loader is very tricky. Any jar added manually in classpath, will end up loading only those classes. Any imports that we have in any of those classes do not get loaded. Anyhow, coming to your point, add classes12.jar inside your portal web project Web-Inf/lib folder and see if that helps. Usually thats where we put all the JARs for 8.1 SPxx applications. If this still breaks, then remove the jar from web-inf/lib folder and add under your portal app App-Inf/lib folder. First try with app-inf/lib folder having this jar. If not then with web-inf/lib. Basically web-inf is specific to that web app only. If you have a different app having this jdbc code, then put under app-inf/lib folder. Make sure that you remove the classes12.jar that you added in classpath either in env variable or in setdomainenv.cmd file.
When weblogic uses native OCI Drivers, it refers to jars at this location: ....\beawlp814\weblogic81\server\ext\jdbc\oracle\10g or 9g. Try using one of these jars and see if that works. Most of the times I used these jars only for oracle specific native drivers.
Word of caution. Try to use Connection Pool and a DataSource created in weblogic console for your jdbc code. This Datasource can still use the Oracle drivers that you want (instead of BEA Weblogic wrapper oci drivers) located in above location. Use JNDI Lookup and get Datasource and then connection. This is more recommended approach with many advantages then using DriverManager approach..

  • Problem using TopLink Grid on WebLogic

I encountered an error using TopLink Grid with WebLogic.
I have a servlet that persists an object through TopLink Grid, and then try to retrieve an object. It has the following setup:
    JPA 2.0
    TopLink 11.1.1.4.0
    Coherence 3.6.0.4 (bundled with WebLogic)
    WebLogic Server 10.3.4
    Cache config: Grid Entity
Method of obtaining EntityManager: Injection of @PersistenceContext
    Transaction Management: JTA
I put coherence-cache-config.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml in /APP-INF/classes in my EAR file.
I did not use active-cache.jar in my servlet. After the WebLogic server is started, the Coherence cache client is to be launched when the persist operation is called.
However, found that the insertion fails with error. Only when em.find() is called could the Coherence cache client be launched properly. I find it very strange because toplink grid complains about missing coherence-cache-config.xml when it tries to insert, but is perfectly ok when it tries to do an em.find().
Has anybody encountered the same issue before?
The log is: (the lines starting with #### are output by the servlet)
    #### Inserting new dept

It seems Coherence is unable to load the config files using the application class loader. You could try placing the config files in a location that gives them the same visibility as your PersistenceUnit.

  • How can i build application using Jdeveloper 10g for Weblogic server 10.3

    Hi,
We have a requirement where in we want to build an SOA application using Jdeveloper 10g for Weblogic Server 10.3.
Is there any way to make a connection to Weblogic Server 10.3 from JDeveloper 10g? If there is any way please share it with me.
    Thanks,
    Amit Kumar

    Amit,
SOA Suite is not yet certified for WLS 10.3. You have to wait for the certification of it.
At the moment you can't install the SOA Suite on WLS 10.3 nor connect from JDev 10.1.3 to it.

  • Problem while using PrepStmt.executeBach with Weblogic 6.0sp1 and

    - I'm getting the same error when I use WLS 6.0 SP1 & thin driver. I'm not
getting this error when I use thin driver without WLS.
    - This is definitely a bug in WLS. As a workaround put classes.zip {that
comes with oracle installation} before weblogic.jar in your classpath. This
way, classloader will load the oracle supplied classes & everything will
    work smoothly

    Hi Joe

So is this a bug with Weblogic? Finally connection pooling isapplication server's
    responsibility, isnt it..
I am inlcined to conclude this coz connection pooling works fine withStatement.executeBatch()
    but not with prepStatement.executeBatch()
How do I resolve this now.

The first thing you should do is to reduce the problem to the simplest
    form.
Write a tiny standalone program that just uses the thin driver
    directly,
and repeats the code you are trying to run. This will eliminateWebLogic
from the equation and see if it's an Oracle-only bug.

Finally the most interesting part is :
executeBatch works perfectly fine with the Statement object..

I already set the value for jbo.server.internal_connection and then deployed to Weblogic Server. When I was tested the application, all the records from table had shown on the screen but I found the application can't insert row to table PS_TXN. I I want to know it always happened?
Herewith I attach the detail log from log file which was generated by Weblogic Server:

  • How to use jndi datasource on Weblogic instead of adding a DB data source

    Hi All,
    version: 11.1.1.4
I am trying to figure out how in my ADF applications I can use an existing jndi datasource out on our weblogic servers instead of having to bury the Database db source in my adf applications. Like SOA I would like to reference the DB directly during design so I can pull in entities and build view objects, but when I deploy I want it to reference the jndi datasource out on the weblogic server.
Is this possible? If so I am not sure how to configure it like I would a DB adapter in SOA.
    As always appreciate the info.
    Thanks,
    S

If you use ADF in the model layer (application modules) you can configure them to use JNDI Datasources. Just right click on the application module and select 'Configurations...'. In the next dialog you see all the configurations currently available (one named xxxxxlocal and one named xxxxxshared at least). Select the local and hit the edit button. This open the DB connect dialog where you can change the connection from JDBC URL to JDBC Datasource (JNDI). Save your work and when you now start the app it will use the JNDI name.

  • How to use security roles in Weblogic server?

    Hello Gurus,
I am new to Weblogic server and I am trying to investigate how to make
use of security roles in weblogic server (5.1.0). Can anyone point me
to some documentation. Specifically, I am looking for instance level,
and method level security and how to use it.
Thanks for taking your time to read this e-mail.
    Thank You all in advance,
    Hari.

You should read the security information in the Servlet 2.2 specification
    that WL 5.1 implements:
    http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html
Chapter 11 deals with declarative and programmatic security, and includes a
    section on roles:
    11.4 Roles
A role is an abstract logical grouping of users that is defined by the
    Application Developer or
Assembler. When the application is deployed, these roles are mapped by a
    Deployer to security
identities, such as principals or groups, in the runtime environment.
A servlet container enforces declarative or programmatic security for the
    principal associated with
an incoming request based on the security attributes of that calling
    principal. For example,
    1. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a user group in the
    operational environment. The
user group to which the calling principal belongs is retrieved from its
    security attributes. If the
principal's user group matches the user group in the operational environment
    that the security
role has been mapped to, the principal is in the security role.
    2. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a principal name in a
    security policy domain, the
principal name of the calling principal is retrieved from its security
    attributes. If the principal is
the same as the principal to which the security role was mapped, the calling
    principal is in the
    security role.
