Use of RCP/OSGi or "General Java"
I like to develop further software which is written in RCP, but yet I don't know anything about RCP. I roughly understand the existing code structure and probably could separate the engine code from the RCP wrapper code. So I am wondering if it's worth to learn RCP and develop it in RCP or if I should separate the engine code and write new code for the user interface in "general Java" with Buttons, ActionListeners and so on.
What would you recommend if you have learnt RCP? Is it difficult and take long time to learn it? How did you learn it? Do you know a book or tutorial you could learn it in an easy way?

I advise to take an RCP course. It will learn you everything in 5 days for
around 1500 to 2000 dollars.

this is james mcfadden. i have developed a program called Demo.java, which is used with another program called QueryTableModel.java (a program that allows data to be viewed in a JTable). The Demo.java program displays a menu, connects to a database, allows the user to add data into the database and allows the user to view data that is already in the database. I have a problem with the Demo.java program. I have hardcoded the Insert statement in it. How do you use the Insert statement to put data into a database without hardcoding the data?

I am trying to use and education program that needs Java applets and it will not run on Safari. IE will not install from the web. How do I get a browser that will work to install so I can use this program when I travel.
Try using FireFox. IE will only run on a Mac if you run Windows on the Mac.

VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. I wonder if somebody can help me. I am not able to use my internet bank anymore, since Java launched their latest update (7.51) a few days ago. Appearently this one is not compatible with my hardware. I am using Mac OSX version 10.6.8, and Java version 17.0, which seems to be the newest one for my op sys. Anybody know how I can solve this? If You want to write anything in PASCAL then simply write JNI code in C++ and call functions from this DELPHI DLL, but remember about changing the order of parameters etc when You call it. I had exactly the same problem, but it is possible, and we succeed.
You will need exact description of input parameters required by PASCAL functions and of output parameters. Then construct in C++ objects wchich looks in memory exacly the same as they will look if You will be using PASCAL. Then PASCAL function will interprete this area in memory as known structure and will run.

I am trying to invoke a Java Class from a BPEL process (using native WSIF Java Binding) using JAXB 2.0 as the Java Serializer. However it seems that Oracle already has an older verion of JAXB on the classpath which results in an exception during the serialization (could not find jaxb.properties in the package ...). Can you guys tell me how to pick up the newer version of the JAXB library. I have added the required jar files as a shared library. How can the classloading behaviour be altered to accomodate this?

I'm not an expert in this matter, but I will post here what I know:
In NW7 releases (at least 7.01.05) it is possible to run JS, also to capture any WD Event and run your own JS code after that, using IFRAME. I have jQuery running here, it would take some time till you create a "framework" to enable some easy usage. I just want to highlight that is possible, thou I think it's a lot of effort.
Not sure about CE7.1 it seems iFrame is deprecated. Still, being deprecated should not "block" the usage, thou it's not recommended since this functionality can be removed in next releases.
I've read that CE7.2 has JS support, and I think you should try having a word with Armin maybe..

I used CBC mode with no padding, i just wrote the encrypted text to a file & i tried reading the cipher from a Java program, so as to decrypt using the same CBC mode & no padding mode. but it is not decrypted as intended to be.

There isn't anything to setup. Just run Terminal and type "vi hello.java" or "nano hello.java". To compile, type "javac hello.java".

Having trouble figuring out how to use trigger inputs as a general purpose input.
I'm trying to use "Trigger 1" as a general purpose input to indicate the status of external circuitry. I can't seem to get the "Read High-Speed Capture Status" to indicate anything. I'm using the "Configure High-Speed Capture" VI with the capture mode set to Inverting Digital Input, and that VI feeds into a Do-While loop which contains the "Read High-Speed Capture Status" VI, which has the Ret Vect set to 0. I see from the online help that the High-Speed Capture function is available on Servo and Closed-Loop stepper systems, which I suppose is to enable the ability to read the position of the encoders. I'm using an open loop stepper system, so are these High-Speed Capture fun

I was just wondering what can I use to view output on the Java console with a Java Swing Applet?
At the moment I'm using a JTextArea within the Applet for debugging but I want output to appear in the browser java console but system.out.println doesn't work.
I'm viewing the Swing Applet on Netscape 4.7 browser.
Any ideas?System.out.println()s work fine! I'm guessing that your problem is that you are looking at the wrong console window!
You're using the Java Plug-in, right? On Windows, go to your Control Panel and double click "Java Plug-in". You should find a checkbox option to "Show Java Console" - make sure this is checked. Next time you fire up you JApplet, you should see a Java Console window popup.
