Use pdf in flash

I have a few pdf documents I want to include in my fash website. I would like to have links that when clicked on will bring up the pdf document within the flash website. So it would be something like darkening the background and fading in the pdf document. Any ideas on how to do this?

flash cannot read pdf files.
you need to first convert them all into swfs

I have not done this for a while and the old source files I got do not seem to work anymore in flash pro cs5. In the past I used ZINC and flash and these code lines:
the link to the PDF is loaded from an XML: " ... url="data\\presentations\\EN_Vienna_Opening_Session\\EN_JShepherd_Past&Present.pdf" ... "
the link is then stored in a flash variabl: " ... tPath = contentItems[0].childNodes[2].childNodes[3].attributes.url; ... "
the PDF is then opened with ZINC with: " ... mdm.System.exec(mdm.Application.path+tPath); ... "
I know this is not forum to support ZINC, but is there any other way of opening PDF files (so they open Acrobat outside FLash)?

Maybe it solves the problem, in case IE is a little bit picky. But I really don't know.

Can't open PDF with flash after upgrade Reader 10.1.5 and Flash player 11.5.502.146

We rolled out Reader 10.1.5 and Flash 11.5.502.146 [Windows 7] this week and discovered that one can not view a PDF containing Flash content.
We receive the message "To view the Flash Technology content in this PDF file, please install the required version of Flash Player".
According to the Adobe Reader Blog "As mentioned in Three Common Adobe Reader and Acrobat Security Questions, unknown Flash will now be rendered by the system Flash Player (NPAPI version), when using Adobe Reader and Acrobat 10.1.5. Note: This has already been done for Reader and Acrobat 11. As stated before, this means that Adobe Reader/Acrobat users will no longer have to update Adobe Reader/Acrobat each time we update the Flash Player."
How could we resolve the problem?

Fail to print pdf with flash(updated)

Hi, all,
I open a pdf with flash in adobe reader.
I want to print it, but it doesn't get the result as what I see in adobe reader.
It seems that the flash has an animation, and the printer capture the image before the animation is finished.
Did I post the discussion in the right forums?

You asked in the correct forum, but it appears that no-one knows the answer.
I know that there were some problems printing Flash content, but I do not know how Flash Player integrates into Adobe Reader - if it uses the installed plugin, or if it uses its own plugin.

Can I open reader and digitally sign pdf in flash?

First off let me say, I have 0 experience with Adobe Flash or Adobe Air, so this may be a dumb question or I may not even be asking in the right place. I currently have an application which uses Adobe Reader to digitally sign PDF files. The PDFs are displayed inline within a webpage. The user must use Adobe Reader because it needs to be FIPS 140 certified. The issue we are running into is with browsers like Chrome and Firefox bunding their own PDF reader, it brakes our application. I am looking for a way to force users to use Adobe Reader. From reading on the web, it looks like this isn't really possible and we are at the mercy of the PDF plugin the user has installed. The idea I thought of, though, would be to write an Adobe Flash application which would display the PDF. I am hoping doing it this way, I could force the use of Adobe Reader and not the PDF plugin of the browser. Does anyone know if this will work? And if it does, will I have all functions of Adobe Reader available (specifically digitally signing)?

for a web based app, you can't easily display a pdf in flash. even for an air app (or any other platform), you can't force anyone to use adobe reader (especially, because not everyone has adobe reader).

PDF with flash files

i am trying to convert PPT files that have embedded flash videos to PDF format with ACROBAT 9 PRO -- but i'm running in to problems.
ideally i would like to just open the PPT file in POWERPOINT, and use the "convert to Adobe PDF" menu command. however, when i do this the resulting PDF does not have the flash videos -- where they should appear all i get is white space on the page. and i do have "convert multimedia" checked on in the settings dialog.
i have also tried re-creating the PPT within ACROBAT by using TOOLS | MULTIMEDIA | FLASH TOOL. that does indeed work, but then when i play the resulting PDF file, it takes forever for ADOBE READER to actually start the flash video. even on relatively fast computers, a flash file that takes less then 5 seconds to load in POWERPOINT will take 30+ seconds in READER. that's unacceptable -- and it's even worse on older, slower computers.
any ideas on how i can get the direct conversion to work, or how i can speed up the PDFs i'm creating from scratch?

i just create a blank page and then use the flash tool to insert the file. i'm using all the default settings. the flash files themselves are created with a tool called Xcelsius ( http://www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/dashboards-visualization/index.epx ).

PDF to Flash page turning book effect

Can anyone recommend a particular professional PDF to Flash page turning book effect software. I've googled but there's a fair few out there and not sure which to go for. Anyone recommend a software in particular or know if any have been approved by Adobe? This is following a request by corporate client of mine but I'm stuck on which one is best to go for.

Just tried exporting an ID file using the swf export settings but it does seems to be just be limited to a page curl effect. Is good but not quite what I'm after. What I need is something that produces page turns, zoom in and out options, a 'go to locked pdf' version and a print option that prints from the pdf and not the swf. Not sure this can be done in the ID export menu? I might be missing something though - so really after recommendations on software that would let me to do this to a pdf but not sure which would be best choice out of the options that are out there.

Streaming Video to PDF Without Flash: Is It Possible?

I'm creating an interactive PDF that needs to be fully supported on both desktop and mobile devices, which has limited my options considerably as mobile support for interactive PDF elements is very limited [I can pretty much only rely on hyperlinks to take me from page to page as well as to external websites]. My client wants videos included, which work inside of the mobile app were delivering to [Documents by Readdle] when embedded as part of the file, but they also want the PDF to be under 25MB, which isn't practical when it comes to compressing 6+ videos and not completely throwing out the quality.
The solution I need is streaming video that would work without the use of a Flash widget, as Flash is not supported on iOS. Does that exist, or is the only way to stream video from an online source inside the PDF document with Flash?
I'm creating the documnet with InDesign CC, and have access to the entire CC Suite.

It's theoretically possible to define an external media URI which uses a non-Flash protocol if you skirt around the edges of the ISO standards but there is no software out there which can do it, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
PDFs with video and interactivity are simply not suitable for mobile deployment. Your project will either need to split the deliverables (PDF for desktop, native app for mobile platforms) or publish using HTML5 in a browser and use something like YouTube to push the media content.

JRC for Eclipse 2.0: Export to PDF with Flash Objects in RPT file

Hi,
We've a few reports created with Flash objects in it ( from Xcelsius). We are trying to generate the reports and export it to PDF using the new JRC for Eclipse 2.0. The exported file size is big ( 600MB) but there is no flash object or data in it. Can you please help us with this one?

I asked a similar question last September in this [thread|CR report with embedded SWF: Export to PDF displays nothing;. It's my understanding that exporting flash objects to pdf is not support in CR 2008.
In CR 2008, when I export a report containing a swf to pdf, the flash file is not rendered in Adobe Reader. It looks like there's just a picture. In fact, in CR, if you r-click on the swf and do Format Flash... | Flash, you can change the picture used for export and printing. The default picture is what I'm seeing in the pdf.
I'm creating the swf using Xcelsius 2008. In XC 2008, if I export to pdf, the flash object is rendered. Why the difference?
The same Adobe reader is being used in both cases.
I'd be glad to send an .rpt with embeded swf for you to test.

Using layers and flash clips

Hello...
I am having terrible trouble getting flash movies and
graphics to align themselves 'fixed' and correctly when I bring
them up in the browser window.
When I place them where I want them in Dreamweaver, it looks
fine... Then, when I hit F12 to test it, they are sometimes out of
place. Also, when I manage to work it so that they ARE in place, if
I have a margin open in the browser window (such as 'favourites')
the flash area moves.
What do I do in order to make sure the flash layer remains
totally and permanently fixed where I want it, and doesn't move
around when browser margins are used?
