Use SUMIF to add same cell several times if ticking several TRUE/FALSE Checkboxes???

Cell C3 is £30
When tickbox is True I need cell C4 to say £30
I have worked this out.
HOWEVER each tickbox i check e.g. C5 and C6 I need it to keep adding £30 to C4
So if all 3 check boxes were ticked C4 would say £90.
Any Ideas????????

In cell A1, a Header Row cell, I have the expression:
=COUNTIF(A, TRUE) * 30
I have formatted the cell as currency - dollars here.

Hi, I've been wrestling with Numbers while trying to get on top of my bank account (tax return due soon!).
I have all my transactions in a big list, and wanted to be able to show how much was spent on certain items, based on keywords. I also wanted to be able to easy change the date ranges that were returned, so created an extra table with a "date FROM" and "date TOO" field.
Using SumIfs() I've done most of what I wanted, using the following formula:
(in this case only adding up transactions with "ADDISON LEE" in their description field)
=SUMIFS('Debit ',Source,"ADDISON LEE*",'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date FROM,'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date TO)
This works great, but for some fields, I'd like to return multiple items based on more than one String match (so for mobile phones, search for "O2" and "T-mobile". Right now, if I add a second string comparison argument, like this...
=SUMIFS('Debit ',Source,"O2",Source,"T-MOBILE",'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date FROM,'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date TO)
...I don't get an error message, but the resulting value is always zero. I think I know why it's doing this - the SumIfs function only adds values if all arguments evaulate to TRUE. Since the String matching can't be TRUE for both (for any one item in the list), it doesn't evaluate any of the items being a "match" and doesn't SUM them.
So, what I'm asking - is it possible to add a logical operator to the formula so it evaluates (like an OR) as true if ANY of the named strings are found?
This is so much easier to do with Javascript - and real programming languages

Thanks Jerrold, yeah I figured that was one way of doing it - the downside being it makes for a lot of duplication of code - and a long formula. Is there any way to nest an individual evaluation so only the end result of that evaluation is matched by the AND logic?
In javascript, for example you could put something like:
=SUMIFS('Debit ',Source,"O2" || "T-MOBILE",'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date FROM,'HSBC Advance - Current Account' :: $A,Date TO)
with || being a logical OR operator. I think there might be some way to do this in Excel using VBA, but so far I'm stumbling with Numbers.
Wish there was an alternative to using the excel model of formulas I can happily work in Javascript or C, but this confuses the heck out of me!

Copying formula using different sheet but same cells

How can I copy this incredibly long formula into different cells but change the sheet that it's referencing without typing in the sheet name in every instance it occurs (at least 28 times right now).
Is this something I'm going to have to use an outside editor (ie text edit, pages) to find & replace?

I don't know which is the "incredibly long formula" but I know that Jerrold described the required scheme in the late 48 hours !
In one fixed cell of your table (A1 is a good choice), store the name of the sheet to address.
Then, in the formulas, use the function INDIRECT to compute the cell's reference grabbing the sheet name from the cell A1 (with an absolute reference : $A$1)
This way, when you will paste the formula in an other table, it will grab the sheet name from the cell A1 of this new table.

I agree 11g have some issues unlike 10g. I've tried the same by creating a measure rcount(1) and name it as Page in RPD. I just pulled column Page in pivot table section 'Pivot Table Prompts' it is working but this may not answer your requirements.
I would suggest to use the column in Prompt and go by between operator to allow user to select the rows between.
In the report make Page as prompted.
If you are okay with this can look forward to tweak it further, like values in the prompt multiple of 5 or 10s some thing like that.

How to enter the same cell twice in a formula

I am studying environmental engineering. we have a lot of complicated formulas that are long chains. In these formulas I need to reference the same cell many times , the problem is when I click on the cell again all it does is rehighlight that cell earlier in the equation. When I do this in excell it works fine. If i type the cell in it works but this can be a hassle. I like working in Iwork because the charts and graphs are nicer but I seem to be finding that some items like this, goal seek, and the fact that you can not extend a polynomiel function forward and back excell is much better than Iwork.

How do I add space between lines of text in the same cell on Numbers 3.0.1

I just updated to Mavericks 10.9. In numbers, I used to be able to uncheck a box in the inspector that would make it so the Return key did not move to the next cell, but instead allowed me to add more space between lines of text in the same cell.
How can I do this in the new version of numbers?

Numbers 3 is a complete rewrite of the application. This preference option hasn't (yet) been included, but N3 is very much a 'work in progress. A word to Apple via Provide Numbers Feedback asking to have this option included in Numbers 3 might be a useful step. You'll find Provide Numbers Feedback in the Numbers menu in Numbers.

I am asked to select an app each time I attempt to open a linked file via a website. How do I tell firefox to use the same app every time?

I have a website; www.designed4submariners.com. On several pages, I have created links to images which are located in a upload file folder. Each time I click on one of those links on the active website (using Firefox as browser), a dialog box appears asking me: What should Firefox do with this file? Beneath the question is a pull down menu which has "TextEdit (defualt)" selected next to a radio button. The image file will open in a browser window when I select Firefox from that pull down menu. I can not tell Firefox to open all similar files using Firefox. How can I resolve this issue as I must go through the same process each time I attempt to open one of those links.

I don't understand why iPhoto recognize the pictrures in the videocamera and iMovie doesn't recognize the videos and the videocamera.
I see all the pictures taken in iPhoto but I can't see any video in iMovie because I don't see the videocamera in iMovie.
I did the same operation several times in the past and always worked it out, with USB connection, I've tryed to restart the computer, to turn on and off the camera, to change cable, to change MAC: always the same problem!

hmmm. what antivirus applications are you using?
as an experiment, does the freezing behavior still occur if you disable the antivirus prior to plugging your ipod in?

Using same cell twice in one formula

Example: (B2+B3)*(B2/B4)
If I want to use B2 twice in the same formula, numbers does not accept the second entry of B2. Any solution to this irritating problem?

If you are clicking on cells to enter them as references in an expression, you must hold down the Command (Apple) key if you want to enter (click on) the same cell a second time in the same expression. Of course you are always able to type the reference into the Formula Bar entry area as many times as you wish without any special gestures.

I use a ABAP Planning Function (custom developed funtion type) to vaildate the planning data.
I want to display the validation results in a message box in the workbook. Therefor I use the Parameter I_R_MSG of the "Execute" Method.
This works fine, BUT
I want to display the same message several times.
Example (I want an output in the message box like this):
AREA1
Error Message A
AREA 2
Error Message A
Error Message B
The system merge the identical messages. And the output is this:
AREA 1
Error Message A
AREA 2
Error Message B
Can I avoid the automatical merge of identical messages in the monitor?

Hello Johannes,
I think the only way is to use a field for (e.g. MSGV4) to group the messages since the system compares
all fields msgty, ..., msgv4 to identify duplicates. So if your messages do not use msgv4 the above suggestion
should work.

It is not possible to create a new iCloud account using a Windows machine. You must create the account using a Mac (10.7.5 or more) or an IOS device (iPhone etc). Once that is done you can sign into and use the account on your Windows machine.

You will have to close firefox.exe with the Windows Task Manager from the "Processes" tab of the WTM since you don't have a widow to close.
The best way to close Firefox is through File > Exit, for those who stuck with the "Firefox" button click on the Firefox button then Exit. It is not perfect but it is a lot better than just closing the window with the "X" in the upper right corner

Can two macs use same disk for Time Machine backup with Airport Extreme?

I use a Western Digital disk as a wireless Time Machine backup connected to the USB port on my Airport Extreme and it works great. My question is: can my girlfriend use that same disk for Time Machine backup from HER computer too? (I don't mind formatting the disk if needed.)
If she can't, is it then possible to connect a USB hub and have two disks hooked up to the Airport Extreme?

Well, as the Jolly Giant points out....+this type of configuration is not supported by Apple+, so it's difficult, if not impossible, to provide a fix for something that Apple says that you cannot do. Reference these Apple Support documents regarding this topic:

Your situation is not unlike other users who try this and find that one computer may backup...(usually for a limited time before corruption issues start to creep in)...but another computer cannot backup. Count me as one of those users who thought that because things seemed to work that I had somehow "beat the system".
I started getting the corruption error messages after 4-5 weeks of successful backups, so I figured that it did not make sense to continue to try to get a second computer to backup (yes, I too could not setup a second Mac to backup).
Sorry, I could not get a second machine to backup, so can't tell you how to accomplish that goal. If you want to continue to try backing up this way, you might want to also think about a second backup strategy...just in case backups become corrupted on the WD drive.
Maybe if Apple says you cannot do this, they just may be right?
