Use XMLTYPE views in BIP

Hi,
is it possible to use a xml view in BIP?
suppose i have the following view:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW DEPT_EMP_XML
OF SYS.XMLTYPE
WITH OBJECT IDENTIFIER (extract(object_value, '/departments/department/@id').getnumberval())
AS
select sys_xmlagg (xmlelement ("department"
, xmlattributes (department_id as "id")
, xmlagg (xmlelement ("employee"
, xmlforest (last_name as "last_name"
, first_name as "first_name"
, email as "email"
, xmlformat ('departments')
) xml
from (select d.department_id
, d.department_name
, e.last_name
, e.first_name
, e.email
from departments d, employees e
where d.department_id = e.department_id)
group by department_id
order by department_id
when i make a query in BIP like
select     DEPT_EMP_XML.SYS_NC_ROWINFO$ as emp
from     HR.DEPT_EMP_XML DEPT_EMP_XML
then i get only this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
- <ROWSET>
- <ROW>
<EMP />
</ROW>
</ROWSET>
is there a way to use this kind of views in BIP?
thx

Hi Arnaud
You just need to make a small addition to hte query:
select DEPT_EMP_XML.SYS_NC_ROWINFO$.getClobVal() as emp

  • BIP report using HTML view in dashboard printing without scrollbars, parts

    Have created BI Publisher report in the MS Word using Landscape page settings.The report is printing without scrollbars in the OBIEE Dashboard using HTML view.
    Could not see the whole page output...have tried using resolution property settings in the dashboard configuration...havent found any solution.
    Have tried to use MHTML but the logos are missing.
    Any quick solution for the above will be very helpful.
    Thanks
    Baddam

    Hi Venkat,
    Thanks for your quick respond.
    1.) Auto Run is enabled. And the report runs automatically as well. But then it ignores the dashboard prompt (as a regular report would do as well). But when I choose some values in the prompt and then press go. Then it says I have to press on view as well.
    2.) no that is not the case. My report is so big that it always need a scroll bar ;) also adjusting the size settings in the dashboard doesn't help. The only occurs when viewing in HTML, when previewing in excel or RTF it all just work fine.
    3.) true, but ow well this is the least importetant one ;) so if this doesn't work, than it doesn't work ;)
    4.) Ok, I will have a look on that.
    5.) I did enabled HTML and EXCEL outputs in my BIP report. But when the first point is working, then I don't want to see the control bar anymore and I want to have the output on the dashboard in HTML and then I want to build a button, or a link or something that exports the request to excel. Is that possible?

  • Insert XML file into Relational database model without using XMLTYPE tables

    Dear all,
    How can I store a known complex XML file into an existing relational database WITHOUT using xmltypes in the database ?
    I read the article on DBMS_XMLSTORE. DBMS_XMLSTORE indeed partially bridges the gap between XML and RDBMS to a certain extent, namely for simply structured XML (canonical structure) and simple tables.
    However, when the XML structure will become arbitrary and rapidly evolving, surely there must be a way to map XML to a relational model more flexibly.
    We work in a java/Oracle10 environment that receives very large XML documents from an independent data management source. These files comply with an XML schema. That is all we know. Still, all these data must be inserted/updated daily in an existing relational model. Quite an assignment isn't it ?
    The database does and will not contain XMLTYPES, only plain RDBMS tables.
    Are you aware of a framework/product or tool to do what DBMS_XMLSTORE does but with any format of XML file ? If not, I am doomed.
    Constraints : Input via XML files defined by third party
    Storage : relational database model with hundreds of tables and thousands of existing queries that can not be touched. The model must not be altered.
    Target : get this XML into the database on a daily basis via an automated process.
    Cheers.
    Luc.

    Luc,
    your Doomed !
    If you would try something like DBMS_XMLSTORE, you probably would be into serious performance problems in your case, very fast, and it would be very difficult to manage.
    If you would use a little bit of XMLType stuff, you would be able to shred the data into the relational model very fast and controlable. Take it from me, I am one of those old geezers like Mr. Tom Kyte way beyond 40 years (still joking). No seriously. I started out as a classical PL/SQL, Forms Guy that switched after two years to become a "DBA 1.0" and Mr Codd and Mr Date were for years my biggest hero's. I have the utmost respect for Mr. Tom Kyte for all his efforts for bringing the concepts manual into the development world. Just to name some off the names that influenced me. But you will have to work with UNSTRUCTURED data (as Mr Date would call it). 80% of the data out there exists off it. Stuff like XMLTABLE and XML VIEWs bridge the gap between that unstructured world and the relational world. It is very doable to drag and drop an XML file into the XMLDB database into a XMLtype table and or for instance via FTP. From that point on it is in the database. From there you could move into relational tables via XMLTABLE methods or XML Views.
    You could see the described method as a filtering option so XML can be transformed into relational data. If you don't want any XML in your current database, then create an small Oracle database with XML DB installed (if doable 11.1.0.7 regarding the best performance --> all the new fast optimizer stuff etc). Use that database as a staging area that does all the XML shredding for you into relational components and ship the end result via database links and or materialized views or other probably known methodes into your relational database that isn't allowed to have XMLType.
    This way you would keep your realtional Oracle database clean and have the Oracle XML DB staging database do all the filtering and shredding into relational components.
    Throwing the XML DB option out off the window beforehand would be like replacing your Mercedes with a bicycle. With both you will be able to travel the distance from Paris to Rome, but it will take you a hell of lot longer.
    :-)

  • Using xmltype in JDeveloper 10.1.3.3

    Hi ! I have a table that has one of the columns defined as xmltype datatype. I am trying to use ADF to create a simple form that the end users can use to view/edit this xml data. I get some garbage data like this ... in this field when displayed ...
    oracle.sql.OPAQUE@1036a6b. What do I need to do to simply display the xmldata in the database? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sriram

    Hi Sriram,
    did you have any success in using ADF to manipulate xmltype-data?
    I'm interested since i am facing a similar problem.

  • Inserting into XMLType View

    I have created an XMLType view with an INSTEAD OF trigger to insert data into the underlying tables. I used your example on XMLType view of Relational Content
    It works great if I have no attributes defined in the root element of the XML document (i.e. xmlns, schemaLocation, etc.). However, if my document contains any of those attributes, it will not load. I have tried creating the view with and without the xml attributes, as well as making sure that the schemaLocation is identical to the one in the document (copied and pasted just to make sure).
    Is there anything that you can point to right away that I'm missing?
    If needed, I can post code for you.
    Thanks!

    Here is the code I used to generate the tables, view, and triggers:

    <EMPLOYEES CREATED="2013-02-06T12:33:00" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://supporthtml.oracle.com/TEST_SCHEMA.xsd" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
    <EMPLOYEE_TRANS MODE="A" emp_id="1">
      <emp_nm>SCOTT</emp_nm>
      <emp_dept>FN</emp_dept>
      <mgr>DON</mgr>
      <sal>4000</sal>
      <updt_ts>2013-02-06T12:28:00</updt_ts>
      </EMPLOYEE_TRANS>
    <EMPLOYEE_TRANS MODE="A" emp_id="2">
      <emp_nm>KEVIN</emp_nm>
      <emp_dept>HR</emp_dept>
      <mgr>MIKE</mgr>
      <sal>3000</sal>
      <updt_ts>2013-02-06T12:29:00</updt_ts>
      </EMPLOYEE_TRANS>
    </EMPLOYEES>I want to run a select statement againt this view which can give me column data in this format.
    This xml is already stored in an Oracle XMLTYPE Object Relation table which conforms to a registered xsd schema document.
    select CREATED, MODE, EMP_ID, emp_nm, emp_dept, mgr, sal, updt_ts from employees_view.
    Result:
    2013-02-06T12:33:00 A 1 SCOTT FN DON  4000 2013-02-06T12:28:00
    2013-02-06T12:33:00 A 2 KEVIN HR MIKE 3000 2013-02-06T12:29:00How can I achieve this? I tried by getting various errors. I would appreciate if someone can send me a sample

    I guess the above makes a regular relational view? correct?Yes.
    How can I extract the of CREATED attribute from the top most employees element and attributes "MODE" and "emp_id" from EMPLOYEE_TRANS element ? You have to use a two-level approach :
    SQL> select x1.created, x2.*
      2  from EMPLOYEES_OR_TABLE t
      3     , xmltable('/EMPLOYEES'
      4         passing t.object_value
      5         columns created timestamp path '@CREATED'
      6               , emps    xmltype   path 'EMPLOYEE_TRANS'
      7       ) x1
      8     , xmltable('/EMPLOYEE_TRANS'
      9         passing x1.emps
    10         columns emp_mode varchar2(1)  path '@MODE'
    11               , emp_id   number       path '@emp_id'
    12               , emp_nm   varchar2(30) path 'emp_nm'
    13               , updt_ts  timestamp    path 'updt_ts'
    14       ) x2 ;
    CREATED                     EMP_MODE     EMP_ID EMP_NM                         UPDT_TS
    06/02/13 12:33:00,000000    A                 1 SCOTT                          06/02/13 12:28:00,000000
    06/02/13 12:33:00,000000    A                 2 KEVIN                          06/02/13 12:29:00,000000
    The first XMLTable x1 extracts top-level information, then passes the collection of EMPLOYEE_TRANS elements to a second XMLTable that breaks each item in separate rows and columns.
    It's also possible to use a single XMLTable, but with a little more complex XQuery expression.

  • XMLType view WITH OBJECT ID

    Hallo,
    Can anyone explain me the purpose of the "with object id"-clause in an xmltype view in detail? According to the documentation the oid should uniquely identify each row in the view. But there is no error message if I choose an elements that occurs in multiple rows of the view. It is possible to choose an unavailable path to an ele-ment without any error messages, too ....
    Is it possible to choose a String as the OID too? I always get an "ORA-22973: size of object identifier exceeds maximum size allowed".
    thanxs,
    Vanessa

    object-id should provide a unqiue identifier. It's needed if you want to generate a ref() to the rows in the view (for instance if you want to folder the rows as documents in the xml db repository). It can also be used during query optimization

  • Cant open PDF files..It says the adobe acrobat reader that is running can not be used to view files in a browser..plz suggest the solution.thanks

    Whenever i try to open a PDF file it says " The adobe/acrobar reader that is running can not be used to view files in a web browser. Plz exit adobe/acrobat readerand exit your web browser and try again." Wt do i need to do, plz suggest.

    Hi adityabhargava01-
    My first suggestion is to upgrade to the most recent version of Firefox by going to this link:
    http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
    My second suggestion is to read this article on how to many your preferences on how Firefox deals with PDFs and all other file types:
    [[Options window - Applications panel]]
    I hope that helps!

  • AdobeAcrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF Files in Web Browser...what do I need to do to fix this..

    I just got Windows 7 and have been having problems since loading it. Most of my drivers only go to Vista and don't recognize 7.
    I have trying to download some manuals from their website
    and keep getting this message; Adobe Acrobat/reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in Web Browser.

    Could I suggest a workaround for PDFs until a solution is posted? Open them directly in the Adobe application rather than in a browser tab.
    In your Adobe application(s), go to:
    Edit > Preferences > Internet
    Then uncheck "Display PDF in browser"
    (There are very few sites where having PDF integrated is really beneficial.)

  • Chrome - Adobe-Acrobat/Reader can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser.

    I can't view PDF files via Chrome (it works on Internet Explorer but I prefer Chrome)  -  the error below has arisen recently on Chrome, though I can't see what has changed.
    "Acrobat plug-in
    The Adobe-Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser. Please exit  Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again."
    I have looked through Forum articles on similar errors and have tried the following(text copied from other Forum entries)
    Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Acrobat)
    Repair Adobe Acrobat (from Control Panel
    Configure Acrobat  as a helper application: Choose Edit > Preferences., Select Internet on the left., Deselect Display PDF In Browser Using [Acrobat application], and then click OK.Quit Acrobat or Reader
    Create a registry item for Acrobat: with Regedit: If the registry item doesn't exist on the system, do the following: Go to Edit > New > Key and create the missing HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe.Go to Edit > New > String Value and name this key (Default).Select (Default), and then go to Edit > Modify. Type the Adobe Acrobat path in the "Value data" for your product.,restart your computer
    Repair the HKCR\AcroExch.Document registry key: Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcroExch.Document., Right-click AcroExch.Document and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts, Right-click AcroExch.Document.7 and select Delete; make sure that you have the correct key, and click Yes on any prompts. Repair your Acrobat  installation
    None has solved the problem. However it still works ok with IE. But I want to stick with Chrome because I find IE is so slow!
    I am using Vista, with Adobe Acrobat standard 9.5.2 and Google Chrome version 23.0.1271.64 m which is marked on Chrome as 'up to date'
    Does anyone know why I might be getting this error on Chrome but not IE?

    I think I have discovered the answer to my own question!
    I have disabled Adobe Reader plug-in, and can now see PDFs in Chrome.
    (Steps: Chrome Menu, Settings option, Click Advanced Settings link, then Content Settings button, then select Disable Individual Plug-Ins, and a list of plug-ins is offered to enable or disable).
    I then get a different result depending on whether or not Chrome PDF viewer is enabled - with it enabled I see the PDF document in Chrome, or with it disabled then the option is offered to download it, but either way I can get it it via Chrome without having to run Internet explorer in another browser window.

  • Reader 9.2 - "can not be used to view PDF files in a web browser"

    Hello,
    I recently deployed Adobe 9.2 within our organization. I used the Adobe Customization Wizard 9 to transform the install set, and selected the "Display PDF in Browser" option as default.
    When opening a PDF linked from a web URL, we get the message: "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Adobe Acrobat/Reader version 8 or 9 is required. Please exit and try again." This occurs under IE8 and IE6, in both Windows XP SP2 and Windows 7.
    If I launch Adobe Reader and unselect "Display PDF in Browser" in preferences, PDFs open normally.

  • Unable to convert BLOB to XML using XMLTYPE

    Hello (XML) Experts
    I need your help with manipulating a BLOB column containing XML data - I am encountering the following error:
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00200: could not convert from encoding UTF-8 to WINDOWS-1252
    Error at line 1
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 283
    I am on Windows 7 64 bit, Oracle 11.2.0.3 64 bit and database character set is WE8MSWIN1252, NLS_LANG is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8. The BLOB column contains the following XML data:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Root CRC="-4065505">
      <Header Converted="0">
        <Version Type="String" Value="512" />
        <Revision Type="String" Value="29" />
        <SunSystemsVersion Type="String" Value="" />
        <Date Type="String" Value="20080724" />
        <Time Type="String" Value="165953" />
        <DAG Type="String" Value="" />
        <ChkID Type="String" Value="" />
        <FormType Type="String" Value="1" />
        <DB Type="String" Value="AllBusinessUnits" />
        <FuncID Type="String" Value="SOE" />
        <Status Type="String" Value="" />
        <FileType Type="String" Value="SFL" />
        <Descriptions>
          <Default Type="String" Value="Sales Order Entry" />
          <L01 Type="String" Value="Sales Order Entry" />
          <L33 Type="String" Value="Saisie commande client" />
          <L34 Type="String" Value="Entrada de órdenes de venta" />
          <L39 Type="String" Value="Inserimento ordine di vendita" />
          <L49 Type="String" Value="Aufträge erfassen" />
          <L55 Type="String" Value="Entrada de pedido de venda" />
          <L81 Type="String" Value="å?—注オーダー入力" />
          <L86 Type="String" Value="销售订å?•å½•å…¥" />
          <L87 Type="String" Value="銷售訂單錄入" />
        </Descriptions>
      </Header>
    <FormDesignerAppVer Type="String" Value="5.1" SFLOnly="1" />
    </Root>I am using the XMLTYPE constructor and passing in the BLOB column and the character set id of the XML data stored in the BLOB column in order to extract and update a node in the XML as follows:
    select xmltype(srce_form_detail,873) from SRCE_FORM where 873 above corresponds to the utf-8 encoding of the XML data in the BLOB column i.e. AL32UTF8, but this results in the above error.
    I have also tried converting the BLOB to a CLOB first as below where BLOB2CLOB is a function that converts the BLOB to a CLOB:
    select xmltype(BLOB2CLOB(srce_form_detail)).EXTRACT('/Root/Header/DB').getStringVal() XMLSrc  from SRCE_FORM;This results in the following error:
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00210: expected '<' instead of '¿'
    Error at line 1
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 272
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    Looking at the XML in the BLOB I noticed that it contains a BOM(byte order mark) and this is causing the XML parsing to fail and I don't know how to deal with it and I don't want to simply SUBSTR it out.
    What I am trying to achieve is to extract the contents of the DB node in the XML and depending on its value I need to update the 'Value' part of that node. I am stuck at the point of extracting the contents of the DB node.
    I hope I have provided enough information and I would appreciate any suggestions on how best to resolve this - my XML knowledge is very limited so I would appreciate any help.
    Regards,
    Mohinder

    Hi Marc
    Thanks for your response.
    You are correct that the blob contains Japanese and Chinese characters but I was expecting that using the XMLTYPE constructor would convert the character set albeit with some data loss or then not display the Chinese and Japanese characters correctly.
    It seems to me that XMLTYPE is not handling/interpreting the BOM contained in the BLOB since even converting the BLOB to CLOB is resulting in an error. If I use SUBSTR and ignore the BOM to extract the XML from the BLOB then it works and as expected the Chinese and Japanese characters are not displayed correctly, they are displayed as '¿' corresponding to the lines beginning with L81, L86 & L87 , see below:
    select xmltype(SUBSTR(BLOB2CLOB(srce_form_detail),4)) from SRCE_FORM
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Root CRC="-4065505">
      <Header Converted="0">
        <Version Type="String" Value="512" />
        <Revision Type="String" Value="29" />
        <SunSystemsVersion Type="String" Value="" />
        <Date Type="String" Value="20080724" />
        <Time Type="String" Value="165953" />
        <DAG Type="String" Value="" />
        <ChkID Type="String" Value="" />
        <FormType Type="String" Value="1" />
        <DB Type="String" Value="AllBusinessUnits" />
        <FuncID Type="String" Value="SOE" />
        <Status Type="String" Value="" />
        <FileType Type="String" Value="SFL" />
        <Descriptions>
          <Default Type="String" Value="Sales Order Entry" />
          <L01 Type="String" Value="Sales Order Entry" />
          <L33 Type="String" Value="Saisie commande client" />
          <L34 Type="String" Value="Entrada de ¿¿rdenes de venta" />
          <L39 Type="String" Value="Inserimento ordine di vendita" />
          <L49 Type="String" Value="Auftr¿¿ge erfassen" />
          <L55 Type="String" Value="Entrada de pedido de venda" />

Furthermore I am able to write the BLOB out to a file successfully without any errors using DBMS_LOB & UTL_FILE.PUT_RAW and this seems to handle the BOM without any issues but what I really need to do is read a single node in the XML and update it directly preferably using XMLTYPE directly with the BLOB.
    I would welcome your suggestions on how best to read a single node and update it when the XML is contained in a BLOB.

  • Adobe 9.1.3 and FireFox 3.5.1+ "...can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser"

    This is the issue but I'm not sure there is a resolution:
    Firefox:  Version 3.5.1
    Adobe: Version 9.1.3
    When navigating the web, click a URL that opens a PDF inside the browser and you get an error * "The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is
    running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser".  Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again".  I did read a post that doing a "repair" from the Adobe Reader application should fix this, they also reference a few registry keys to check becuase the post states it's lost the application path to Adobe version X.  I don't necessarily buy that "fix" and here are my details below.
    In FireFox if you navigate to Tools > Options > Applications > Adobe Acrobat Document
    You're given choices:
    Always ask:  DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    Save File:  Works, saves the file to a directory on your PC
    Use Adobe Reader 9.1 (defau...:  Works, opens your PDF's outside of your web browser
    Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox):  DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    Use other...:
    IE seems to just work as expected.
    If you open Adobe Reader > Edit > Preferences > Internet > Check "Display PDF in browser" - DOES NOT WORK, produces afore mentioned error *
    This would seem to be an Adobe error rather than a FireFox web browser problems since FireFox does seem to know the correct path although I suppose you can't rule out that this is a FireFox problem since 2 out of the 4 PDF open options DON'T WORK.
    Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Other information:
    Adobe 8.1.5 works perfectly with FF 3.5.1+ when opening PDF's in the web browser, we also had no problems with previous versions either.
    MSI push via Active Directory from Adobe 8.1.5 upgrade to Licensed Distribution I signed up for, Adobe 9.1.3 which was upgraded from 9.1.0, to 9.1.2, to 9.1.3 via an MSP patch.
    Operating system:  Windows XP SP 2, plenty of RAM, plenty of Drive
    IE version this works with the new version of Adobe 9.1.3 is version 7 (7.0.5730.13)
    Our FireFox MSI's come from Front Motions website and as far as I know we've never had problems with their MSI's, also tried the new release of FF 3.5.2 from their website.
    I think that about covers it.  Anyone else experiencing the same problems or have a patch?

    After troublshooting this for the entire day today the issue seems to be a MIME problem.
    If everything is woking perfectly, in Tools > Options > Applications...
    You should see 4 or more things related to Adobe like "Adobe Acrobat Forms Document", etc.  If you don't see at least 4 MIME entries either your Adobe installation is hosed or your FF installation is hosed.  I haven't figured out which is causing the issue.
    What I did was remaster my patches from my original Adobe 9.1.0 MSI with the two updates via the command line in the directories with the source files.  On the 9.1.0 original file I first remastered my MST transform with the Adobe MST utility.  I then applied my patches.
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd912_all_incr.msp
    msiexec /a AcroRead.msi /p AdbeRdrUpd913_all_incr.msp
    I then uploaded that to my network share, unlinked my group policy, made a new group policy, added a batch file to delete adobe.com from program file and the desktop on system startup even though my MST was supposed to take care of that - it's not a perfect world is it?  :-)
    I then reapplied my GPO's for both FireFox 3.5.2 and Adobe 9.1.3, I checked to make sure the MIME extensions were there and they were.  You might have to go into your Adobe Preferences and select that open in browser setting depending on what happens or adjust your MIME settings in FireFox's options but it should work.
    That's what worked for me.  It's possible a few other things I did along the way tweaked it out, in my group policy on the first run I did select to upgrade previous group policies, for the remaster and repush I didn't select any previous GPO's to upgrade.
    It's hard to tell what one thing tweaked it out or what combination of things tweaked out the install.  I did also reinstall Adobe 8.1.5 and FF 3.0.10 before doing all this since our machines currently have that setup, I'm not sure if that affected it either, it's just hard to tell but I don't think it did simply because I had done that several times in troubleshooting this issue.
    If anyone else has more specifics that would be great!

  • I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can using another Viewer

    I cannot open pdf files from one supplier when using Adobe Reader but I can open it if using Google PDF viewer or another viewer. The Adobe reader gives the error "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired" when I try to open the file. The version of Adobe Reader is 10.1.7, however I have tried other versions and they all fail the same way.  I have tested on a number of different PC's in different networks and all fail using Adobe Reader but work using alternate viewer. Also the PC's will open a PDF from any other source.

    Newer Reader versions are more strict than older versions (and other PDF viewers).  If certain minimum requirements are not met, Reader will tell you that the PDF is damaged.  This can happen when a document was created with software that does not adhere to PDF standards, or when the file was damaged during a download or email transmission.
    You should contact the creator of these PDFs.
