  • Weblogic 6.1 JSP useBean problem

    I've got at Servlet that redirects to a JSP. Within the JSP i call the

              <jsp:useBean id="statsObj" class="SCStatsCommand"

              As far as I can see this means that SCStatsCommand can't be found. The thing

  • JSP with useBean beginner problems need help

    I start to learn JSP and now I am facing a problem which cannot be solved for a whole day.
    I make a simple JSP and want to use a my defined class to make some logic outside JSP file. It can be built by "ant build".
    But there is always an error-message when I see through browser. Also, I have already "ant deploy" to copy all classes in WEB-INF/classes/...
    Besides, my tomcat can run JSP without importing external class or javaBean.
    Please help. I really have no idea. Thanks.
    The simple Converter.class in Test.Beans package
    package Test.Beans;
    import java.math.*;

         static BigDecimal yenRate = new BigDecimal("131.7800");
         static BigDecimal euroRate = new BigDecimal("0.0084");

    public BigDecimal yenToEuro(BigDecimal yen) {

    Works fine for me, copied and pasted exactly.
    Try recompiling your java class again, to make sure it is valid.
    Check that the class file is copied into the correct place by your ant build.
    Should be WEB-INF/classes/Test/Beans/Converter.class

  • UseBean Scope Problems

    I'm using apache and gnujsp 1.0 to run JSP on my webserver. I need a bean that exists for an entire session so I can validate that a user has indeed logged in and is just not explicitly referencing a jsp page. However, the login bean I created is having problems running with a scope of "session" or "application". It works fine with a scope of "page", but with anything else I get a ClassCastException.
    Heres my code to instantiate the bean:
    <jsp:useBean id="ihcDB" scope="session" class="IHCbean" />
    Any Ideas?

    Try to use Oracle JSP to see whether you got the same problem. OJSP also runs on Apache/JServ.
    null

  • Problems using different scope with useBean

    Hi all,
    I've been trying over and over to place the data from my inputForm.jsp in request, session or even application scope and then try to retrieve the data from my process.jsp.
    I can't understand why not the request object (emp) is available in my second jsp file. I'm having the same problem using sessionScope and applicationScope.
    inputForm.jsp
    <jsp:userBean id="emp" class="Employee" scope="request">
    <jsp:setProperty name="emp" property="*" />
    </jsp:userBean>
    <form method="POST" action="process.jsp>
    <input type="text" name="firstName">
    <input type="text" name="lastName">
    </form>process.jsp
    <c ut value="${requestScope.emp.firstName}" />

    The useBean tag has to be on the page WHERE THE BEAN IS BEING used.
    The jsp:setProperty tag works from request parameters. So it has to be on the page that is RECEIVING the parameters - ie your second page.
    You misspelled jsp:useBean.
    Also your Employee bean must be in a package, and the useBean tag should use its fully qualified package name.
    I will presume that your Employee class has appropriate get/set methods for firstName and lastName - ie getFirstName() and setFirstName()...
    Try this:
    inputForm.jsp
    <form method="POST" action="process.jsp>
    <input type="text" name="firstName">
    <input type="text" name="lastName">
    </form>process.jsp
    <%@ taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"%>
    <jsp:useBean id="emp" class="com.mypackage.Employee" scope="request">
      <jsp:setProperty name="emp" property="*" />
    </jsp:useBean>
    <c:out value="${requestScope.emp.firstName}" />

  • useBean action problem ??

    hi all !
    first of all sorry from my english(very poor) .
    my question is:
    i have to Jsp's pages "first.jsp" & "second.jsp".
    in "first.jsp" iam written
    <jsp:useBean id="Admin" scope="application" class="myBeans.Administrator" />
    and iam also written in "second.jsp" <jsp:useBean id="Admin" scope="application"
         class="myBeans.Administrator" />
    my problem is: when i acceess the "first.jsp" in the first time my bean is create >> no problem
    and when access "first.jsp" again my bean is exist so is not create new object >> no problem
    but the problem is when i access the "second.jsp" ,new bean is created why ???
    again sorry for my english :-)
    thanks

    If you want to have it find the bean if it exist or create it if it doesn't, you have to use the following syntax in all places:
    <jsp:usebean ....>
    <do something/>
    <jsp:usebean/>
    note the loop construct

  • Problem with login jsp

    I made a login.jsp with the help of a bean. the bean holds a string[] as a property where it stores user and pass, then those values are checked in my database, and a boolean bean property is set to true. The problem is I want to do an if statement in my JSP using that boolean, but I can't seem to get the jsp working, can anyone help me?
    I'm doing
    <%if (<jsp:getProperty name="auth" property="truth"/>) do something else something else%>
    I've also tried
    <%! boolean it = <jsp:getProperty name="auth" property="truth"/> %>
    <%if (it) do something else something else%>
    both give me compile errors.

    <jsp:getProperty name="auth" property="truth"/> is roughly equivalent to
    <% out.print(your_bean.getTruth()); %> or <%=your_bean.getTruth()%>
    Once you understand this, you'll see why your code cannot possibly work...
    Below is a simple solution to your problem.
    <jsp:useBean   class="YourBean"  id="auth"  etc.. >
    <% if auth.getTruth() {
          something; // don-t forget the semi-colon
       else {
          some other thing; // ditto
    %>If you don't want any java code inside your jsp, consult the JSTL tag lib to construct an xml-like if-else statement.

  • Problem with transfering unicode form data in MULTIPART/FORM-DATA

    HI experts,
    I have this web based multilingual application. Page 1(form6.jsp) is basic registeration form with 5 fields and one image upload to the server. Page 2(verify.jsp) is another jsp page for verification of UTF data entered in page 1.
    page 2 (verify.jsp) also uses a bean called (verify.java) for picking up values. page 3(insertEntry.jsp) is the page for inserting that data into the Database and uses a bean called (logicbean.java).
    Now, the problem im facing here is that if i use multipart/form-data, the unicode text filled in page1 is shown as garbage when its is transfered to page2 and displayed on page2. It is all gibberish. But if i do not use multipart/form-data, the unicode text transfered from page1 to page2 is displayed perfectly on page2.Im using devenagari(UTF) language for filling in details.

              You realy can do it like Xiang says, but the better way is to use packages. That's
              the way BEA is designed for. If you use packages you can but your bean classes
              in every subfolder beneath Classes. Here for example we have the subfolders test
              and beans:
              You have to declare the package on top of your Bean Source Code:
              package test.beans;
              In your JSP you don't need the import code of Xiang. You only have to refer the
              path of your bean class:
              <jsp:useBean id="testBean" scope="session" class="test.beans.TestBean" />
              There are some other AppServers that only can deploy Java Beans in packages. So
              if you use packages you are always on the right side.

  • Problem with Sessions in JSP

    Hi,
    I am working on a JSP based website, where I am facing problem with sessions. The user is asked to login by providing her id and password. If found correct, a bean is created and populated with all her details and placed in session scope. I plan to use the information stored in the bean on other related pages until she logs out.
    <jsp:useBean id="validUser" scope="session" class="UserBean" >
    <c:set target="${validUser}" property="userId" value="${fn:trim(dbValues.UserId)}" />
    <c:set target="${validUser}" property="userName" value="${fn:trim(dbValues.UserName)}" />
    </jsp:useBean>
    <c:redirect url="userHome.jsp" /> The user is presented her homepage - 'userHome.jsp', where she can find various links, like 'Update Profile', 'Pay Registration Fees', 'Book Room' etc. The information stored in the bean is available on 'userHome.jsp'page.
    <A HREF='userHome.jsp'>Home</A>
    <A HREF='editPersonal.jsp'>Update Profile</A>
    <A HREF='registrationFee.jsp'>Pay Registration Fees</A>
    <A HREF='bookRoom.jsp'>Book Room</A>
    <A HREF='logout.jsp'>Logout</A> The problems are:
    1. Whenever user clicks on any of the above mentioned links and moves to any page, the bean comes out as null.
    <%-- Verify that the user is logged in --%>
    <c:if test="${validUser == null}">
    <jsp:forward page="loginForm.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="origURL" value="${pageContext.request.requestURL}" />
    <jsp:param name="errorMsg" value="You must be logged in to access this site." />
    </jsp:forward>
    </c:if> 2. The URL shows an additional jsessionid, which my client doesn't want to see.
    3. On every click on any link, the value of this jsessionid changes.
    What I presume, when I am clicking on different links, my session changes, and so I am seeing a different jsessionid. And since session is changing, therefore the bean is not available in a different session.
    All this works fine with localhost, problem comes into picture, when I upload my pages to the server.
    Puzzled, can anyone help, where am I going wrong? Let me add here, I am new to JSP and hence don't have much resources with me.

    There are several ways sessions can be exchanged between the browser and the server in a j2ee web application.
    1. The default is through cookies. However when the client does not accept cookies, the server appends the session id to the url.
    2. Some servers also facilitate session information exchange using session id in the url even if the client does accept cookies. This is usually ahieved through a setting in some server configuration file.
    You will have to find out why the server in your application is appending the session id to the url.
    Whatever be the case, the server should be able to look up the session from the incoming request (be it from the session id in the url or a session cookie).
    When session information is exchanged through the JSESSIONID in the url, you should ensure that each and every url that goes to the server has this input parameter. To do that all links and form post urls in your servlet/jsp should be treated with a call to encodeURL().
    For example, in a jsp
       <a href = "<%=response.encodeURL("/nextJsp.jsp")%>">Click here </a>
    or
       <form action = "<%=response.encodeURL("/nextJsp.jsp")%>">
       </form>etc.
    ram.
