User admin application

Hi,
We have a requirement wherein Super user of an organization should be able to view/manage contact persons of his organization only in the user admin application.
Currently all the users in the system are visible to the Super user.
Pointers to this will be helpful.
Thanks in Advance.
Regards, Vipul

Hi Ram,
I have already tested the scenario suggested by you but as I have mentioned above, I can still see all the users in the system.
The Requirement is when a super user assigned to sold-to party, logs in, he should be able to create/modify users of his sold-to party only.
Suggest if I have to make changes in any object/role etc.
Please help.
Regards,
Vipul

  • Where is "users-admin" now that gnome-system-tools is deprecated ?

    Hello everyone,
I have already used the "users-admin" package from gnome to manage the permissions of the users, but, since gnome 3.2 the gnome-system-tools package which contained the users-admin package has been deprecated and replaced by gnome-control-center. So my question is, how can I reinstall the users-admin application, or, use another gnome application to do the same thing ?
I don't really think that it is a good idea for Gnome to place an application as deprecated and not propose an alternative.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Luis Da Costa

It is not the same but still a good option XD I really don't understand why the gnome team dropped a good tool like users-admin :S...

The first thing you should do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. I suggest you install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. If you don't have the media, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able toauthorize it under your ID. In that case, contact iTunes Support.

  • How do I move an App Store app to a user's application folder?

I have set up my mom with an older Macbook Pro of mine to save her from the evils of the PC. I set up two users, one for her and one for me; hers is uber simple (big icons, only the essentials in the doc) mine is crazy complicated. We share apps, of course, which was fine until I realized she is going to want to download Mah Jongg game apps and the like from the App Store, and I would LOVE it if I didn't have to have all that cluttering up the root Applications folder.
I already tried to move one app from root to her user's Applications folder and all that moved was an alias, the app stayed at root. So how does one move these things? Is there a way via the finder? Can I use terminal (and if so could someone spell out the command for me?)
    Thanks in advance.

You might want to rethink moving the apps.
First the App Store knows what's installed by looking in the Applications folder. If the app is not there but is listed as purchased it will be prompting you to download it constantly.
Second Lion has really locked down the permissions on the Applications folder, even Admins (as you're discovered) have to jump through hoops to change stuff around. You'll need to change permissions on the folder at least to get the apps out. It will be a pain in the long run.
Again weigh the inconvenience of having an extra few apps in the Applications folder against what I described above.
    regards

    Hi,
You can open any process in an iview which is assigned to a page and to a role. Once you click on this role, the process will get initiated and the webdynpro application will be displayed.
If you open the instantiating url, it will ask for the input parameters that are to be passed to the application and initiates the application. It does not display your webdynpro page.
For the iview you have created, Assign this iview to a page, and then assign it to a role. Assign the role to your user id and then open the role. Also mention in the iview parameters if any role based information has to be passed.
    Award points if helpful.

  • 5.0 created ISA user roles won't save in ISA user admin URL

We just upgraded from 4.0 to 5.0, in config I assigned these roles & we can see them in the ISA user admin URL.
    SAP_CRM_ECO_ISA_WU_B2B_FULL
    SAP_CRM_INTERNET_CUSTOMER
We can select them and assign to the box on the right and save, but when we go in they are on the left in the non assigned box.  Why won't they save?????
The Z roles from 4.0 can be saved but they can't run ISA application as they don't have all the components.
    will give points.

    Hi Pawan,
SAP Sourcing 10 allow custom script and query-based web services which support OAuth authentication so
client consumer application will consume this web service and if the OAuth handshake is done successfully, then we can verify by going to the Authroizations tab of the User Account of the user that signed on to Sourcing/CLM and allowed the external program to access the particular webservice.
For more insights please refer the Web services cookbook of SAP Sourcing 10.
Hope it helps to some extent.

  • Essbase Error 1051440 - Authentication fails for user admin

We are facing a very unique problem...
The application is up & running.. even I can login into the application, can perform member addition, editing & mamage database from planning.... but I get this error while retreiving from excel addin or running scripts.
What I analysed is that this problem is Actually coming when a particular set of members are called anywhere either in scripts or during retreival thru Addin.
Recently we had added one dimension in one of the database of our application. After that that this problem started.
There were fewer Xref functions used to pull data from other cubes.... The problem is cominng with only those set of members where this Xref function has been used.
Even I had changed the formulas & incorporated member of new dimension in the formulas to point to target members....
Can you guys ever had faced such kind of issue....
    Please help in resolving....
Complete Error is: msg fromremote site[date n time] Local////Error(1051440) Essbase user[admin] Authentication fails against shared services serverwith Error[30:1005:Authentication failed for user admin. Enter valid credentials.]]

    Hi,
are you sure that user "admin" has all necessary rights to run your scripts? I have to ask because we sometimes had problems with our admin user... There is an "native essbase server admin" and the admin user in shared services.
We dont had any idea how this could happen but sometimes our admin user changed to the mentioned "native essbase server admin" - you can see it if you are connected as "admin (internal)".
If you are logged in as "admin (internal)" you have to "externalize" this user.
Hope this helps and my bad english is not so much confusing... :-)
    Kind regards

  • Remote Admin applications freeze (sometimes!)

I'd appreciate any help people might be able to offer for this very odd problem I'm having.
Background: I installed Leopard server in my college department yesterday. That went well, and I was able to administer it locally. It served web pages, a wiki; email, webmail all worked well. It's a standard configuration
Then I installed the administration apps on my MacBook Pro so that I could administer remotely. When I launched any of the applications (Server Preferences, Server Admin) they froze -- "application not responding" and I had to force quit the app. Consistently.
So, I packed up and went home for the night. At home, I opened up the MBP and thought I'd give it another try, and lo and behold, NOT A PROBLEM at all! No freezing. I was able to administer the server remotely, add users, etc.
When I got back to the office today, I tried the Server Preferences app, and it froze again! Consistently! Wired or wireless connection on the MBP. Restarted, tried a different (virgin) user account on the MBP. Nothing.
I installed the remote server admin applications on an iMac in the room next to me. No problem at all, it works just fine.
I restarted my MBP, even reinstalled the admin software. Server Preferences consistently hangs.
At the end of the day I once again went home, where I'm posting this, and tried Server Preferences. And... yes, it's working JUST FINE here. I can once again administer the server, add users, not a hint of a freeze. (I guess I should mention that at home I'm on an Airport Base Station connected to a cable modem; at the university I'm either on an Airport BS or the university's ethernet.)
    I'm stumped.

    Here's a Spinning Beachball faq.
I've found that if Disk Utility can't fix it, you'll need a more robust utility for the repair. I would recommend DiskWarrior. It is the best at directory repairs. It rebuilds then actually replaces your old directory. I feel every Mac owner should have a copy.
Even if it doesn't cure this ailment, you'll likely need it in the future.
Make sure you get the disk so you can boot up on it to run repairs. You can also install it on another drive and run it from there to repair this one. DW works faster that way.
I use DW once a month to try and catch errors in my system from getting too far out of hand. DW has repaired every big and little issue I've had on all three of my Macs.

  • Can a standard user install applications?

I've been told that when a standard user installs applications, he must provide a admin user name and password, which presesumably he wouldn't have.  If the admin user is standing near and does provide that info, then great, a standard user is able to then install the application, right?
My real question: Would that application be available to all of the users on that mac or just to the standard user?  My research has lead me to contradictory answers and a fundamental, lingering question:  If the admin account's user name and password were provided when logged into the standard account, shouldn't that application behave the same as an app that was installed when logged into the admin acccount?  And, if that's true, isn't the purpose of a standard account somewhat less valuable than we think?  Any insight would be of much help, thanks!

To install an app on a standard user, you need an administrator user name and password. If not, it won't work.
When you install an app, it's installed by default in /Applications, a folder where all users can access, so your apps are available for all users. However, most of the users have got an Applications folder inside their user folder (~/Applications), so you can put here the apps you want to use only with one user account. You can choose where you want to put your applications, depending on with what users you want to use the application

  • UME Admin Application as EJB

    Hello,
Basically we need to be able to create a user in both CRM backend and the UME at the same time. I have created a web dynpro app that creates the users successfully in CRM but now i am trying to do the same for the the UME.  I do see that in the UME admin application, there is a EJB container that exists to use the UME admin application functionality.  You can look in the application path ( usr\sap\<sap instance>\<Server Instance>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sap.security.core.admin/EJBContainer ).
What i need to know is specific info on how i call or use that EJB in my web dynpro app.  Also is there a web service available that we can call for the UME user admin functionality?
Not sure if anyone has used this functionality before.
    Thanks in advance.
    Renchy Thomas

Good question. I'm currently in a similar planning process (I'm still in a pretty early stage), and so far, I've come up with the following notes:
    pro non-ejb:
    - on EJB you cannot have multiple threads for a single EJB
    - File I/O is also restricted on EJB
    pro ejb:
    - location transparency; you can basically run it everywhere
    - on app server, possibility of ressource sharing (e.g. JDBC connection pooling)
    misc:
    - future ejb specs might contain timers (schedulers) so that you can schedule the jobs without programming the scheduler; not available at the moment in general, although some vendors might support this (weblogic ??)

  • Customizing User Admin Role

I am trying to customize user admin role. I copied the role to the custom folder. I made the Import and Activity Reports invisible. I assigned it to a test user. When I login as the test user I get the error saying You are not authorized to run the application. I did assign the user permission in the Permission Editor.
It is a SAP EP 7 2004s install.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi Michael,
Check whether the end user "check box" is checked in the permission editor of the role for the appropriate user or group.

  • Leopard Server admin applications freeze (sometimes!) on MacBook Pro

I posted this in the OS X Leopard Server forum, but since it's really a question about applications running (freezing) on a MacBook Pro running Leopard (not the server), I'm cross-posting it here too.
