I've created some user-defined units of measurement through the UOM Manager. But when I try to assign those for a field type in my repository (through the Console) - I cannot do this because my custom units are absent in the list.
The situation makes me doubt if it is even possible to work with custom user-defined uom's in MDM...
Any ideas?

I don't know if this can solve your problem, but I have catch some problems on Measurements that have been solved when I installed the MDM Hotfix 1 (5.5.41.70 version 5.5 SP5).

Can Automation be used to send User-defined CC's to Environment objects?

Hi, this is probably a really dumb question but I'll ask it anyway:
I've bought a controller-environment for a synth (Alphajuno2, PG300 programmer) for Logic, the faders in the environment layer use sysex to communicate with the synth.
Apparently it is possible to map an external midi-controller to these environment-faders, and that's all and fine, but what I'm after is a method of using automation to control the environment-faders. How would I go about doing it?
I've only ever really automated some volume changes or plugin parameter changes, I've not yet automated faders in the environment, so how would I go about doing it?
Would I create a fader which I'd link to the sysex-sending fader, and automate the fader, or maybe an environment-monitor (and add it to the arranger) and somehow configure a set of CC#'s to be automated with that arranger object, and then just cable them up to the various Sysex-sending faders (I do know enough to be able to set the input of those sysex-faders to match the CC#'s which the automation would be sending).
Is this kind of "User-defined CC#'s in Automation" possible? How should I go about it?

Is it just because there is currently no way whatsoever of Automation CC, and I should have known to use Hyper Draw to talk to an Environment object directly, which would then be connected to the Faders of choice?

User-defined field assignment in Contact object

Experts:
I guess this might apply to all SAP Business Objects. Specifically, I am working with the oContact object. A User-defined field has been added to the OCLG table. I need to populate the field with the current logged on User. I see that I can do the following with the intellisense but I am not sure where to go from here.
vContact.UserFields.Fields.Item
I tried but I get a message "Expression is a value and therefor cannot be the target of an assigment:
vContact.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_Creator") = (GetUserCodeSess(g_B1Connection.Company.UserName))
It feels like I should be able to set the User-defined variable through the object but I don't think I am doing it correctly.
Any helpful hints?

Hi Robert,
I think the only supported way is to give full rights to the users and block changing field in the Item Master Data form through your addon.
A non supported way is to use a query to update the item master fields

User defined units in viLogger (1.0.1)

viLogger allows to define user specific units when setting up a channel definition. Is it possible to enter a custom unit? (e.g. a string for a custom unit, the rest is done with sensitivities)

When creating a Virtual Channel, you have the option to create a Scale for that particular channel. Once you know the transfer function in between the voltage readings and the physical unity, you can input that as a scale for the channel, and input the unity you want in the unity field.

I am not sure but I think you need to logon to SAP with ES language and maintain units of measure from IMG; SAP NetWeaver- General Settings- Check Units of Measurement.

i try to access a nested complex datatype over blazeds. i always see that the second level of the complex datatye is NULL but the other data's like String are ok.
here an example:
as you can see TT1 has a member TT2, and a String
TT2 has a member TT3 and a string
and TT3 has just a string.
in the ActionScript the TT2 referenz in TT1 is always NULL.

I want to add Transaction Notification Code for created Used Define Table.
This Transaction Notification prevents user to must enter name in that form.

Necessary to Remember 4 Things. That are mentioned below.
1) Register User Define Table (UDT) with using "Object Registration Wizard". For Example : @object_type = 'Z_Roto'
2) When you define selection criteria then it must be compulsory for use Code Field. For Example : Select T0.Code from [@Z_Roto]
3) When you define selection criteria then it must be compulsory for use Code for @list_of_cols_val_tab_del.
4) Use error code as 10 Number

Default Unit of Measure in Shopping Cart

Hello Experts,
I am implementing SRM 7.0 Extended classic Scenario with SAP ECC6.0.
When creating a Shopping Cart for Free Text items, in Employee Self-Service of via the Professional SC, the user systematically has to select the Unit of measure he wants to use (unless he has defined his own defautl value with right click > Set current value as default).
Is there a way in the system to define a default ordering Unit of Measure for the Shopping Cart for every user ?
I searched the organization attributes (PPOMA_BBP), the user parameters (SU01), but I could not find a way.

Unlike currency, which is usually fairly static for a company/user/system, unit of measure usually varies from one document to another, if not one item to another frequently. Therefore there is no per user default for this field by standard. However, you could enhancement the relevant webdynpro view, e.g. /SAPSRM/WDC_DODC_SC_I_BD, (method WDDOINIT) to default the unit of measure that way on the UI.

Deploying c# procedure with user-defined type

I've written a c# procedure which makes use of some Oracle user-defined types (c# classes generated using the wizard).
I will be calling the procedure from an Oracle package and one of the out parameters needs to be one of my user defined Oracle objects (basically a record object). My problem is when I come to deploy the package, it tells me "... does not contain any .NET stored procedures that can be deployed to Oracle"
If I change the user defined type (out param) to something like an Int32 or string, it works fine. AFAIK the latest version of ODT/ODAC supports user defined types. For Info I've 11g Client , .Net v4 & VS2010

think I have found some small print which scuppers my plan. Good if some one could confirm and nicer if someone could suggest a workaround (without resorting to writing the UDT to a Oracle table)
Oracle User-Defined Type (UDT) Support
UDTs are not supported within a context connection but they are supported with a client connection. UDTs are not supported as parameters to .NET stored procedures.

So you can use UDT's within the body of the procedure (and can read them off the DB) but as yet its not possible to use them as parameters.

User Defined Function (Part 2)

István Korös has finally solved my problem on User Defined Function.

My objective was to write a simple UDF to represent the following formula which Gordon Du gave me:

DATEADD (mm, (DATEDIFF (m,0,@refdtzz ) + @mthnumber), 0)))
However, the solution proposed by István, although it works perfectly, leaves me scratching my head. Let's see why?
The only difference between my solution and that proposed by István is that István enclosed the UDF name between .
I wonder how this can make the vital difference between a (simple query!) that works well and one that gets blocked.
I tried several combinations of and am in for a few surprises, listed below. Can anybody explain what's going on?
Solution proposed by István:
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[udf_EndOfMonth]
and executed as:
select [dbo].udf_EndOfMonth (@refdt1 , 1)
Remarks: works perfectly
If I execute the UDF with exaclly the same name as in CREATE, it does not work
CREATE FUNCTION [dbo].[udf_EndOfMonth]
and executed as:
select [dbo].[udf_EndOfMonth] (@refdt1 , 1)
Error Msg: Must specify table to select from
If I don't put the , the function is created, but the execution of the calling query returns error

It seems that the only combination that works is that provided by István.
This is surely a simple UDF.
I don't know what to do if I attack a more complicated UDF.

Hi Leon,
As István has already pointed out, there is no documentation for those small differences to make the SQL work or not. He must be tested quite a few times to find the actual working code. This question can only be answered by the developer who made this part for B1.

Modifying .PRM file for user defined database functions

Hi,
Currently we have the BOXI 3.1.8 Universe in oracle database and we are planning to migrate to SQL server 2008.And the universe contains few oracle functions and user defined functions in the universe objects.
In the way of migration we are planning to have both Oracle and SQL Server database connecting to single universe. To make the universe generic we have identified the objects using user defined functions and trying to push it to the database.
Since there are a few differences in the way oracle and SQL Server functions are invoked, we have decided to edit the .PRM files available in the path D:\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\jdbc , so that we have a common way of invoking the functions.
Invoking functions:
SQL Server : <SchemaName>.<function>
Oracle: <function>
1.Is there any problem if I edit the .PRM?
2.Whether these changes will work fine?
3.Whether the reports will run fine if I use those objects in the reports?

Hi Lavanyaa,
The PRM files actually state the functions that are normally available in a database, including the standard format.
They are what drives the list of functions available when you build the SELECT definition or CONDITION definitions in Information designer... The fact that a function needs aggregation or/not is also determined in there.
However:
The SQL that you provide in the universe is what will be sent to the database and that must be 'understood' by the database.
So it's not as simple as changing the PRM file and you will be able to speak 'universal' SQL in your universes.
Fortunately:
That complexity is taken away from you when you create a multisource database.
You will speak 'data federator' SQL in the universe. Data federator will take care of translating it to the right syntax for each database. Notice you will probably need some customization to determine how a SQL will be handled when you need to query two databases, as the default is not automatically the best way performance wise.

The code used is as follows:

If you haven´t put the field directly in the standard form the user defined fields are in a different form. This form has the same type but with "-" before it.
So so should use this code to get the user defined fields form:
Set oForm = SBO_Application.Forms.GetForm("-139", 1)
Maybe this can be the cause
