User dimension in a frame

Hi,
I'm a verry newby to graphics programming (i'm more a techie),
but what i want is a dimension, or (even better) the width and
dimension of the user field in a frame.
When i make a frame of 800x600, the user field is reduced, in height because of the title-bar and info bar, and in width of the two frame bounds. I dont know how to get the dimension between them.
Because of different resolutions and resizes i want them, so i can adjust the contens of my frame.
Hope someone can help me, regards,
Vincent

Allright, i want to make a frame that pops up from an applet, so i create a frame in the init method:
public void init(){
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
//for now, i fixed the resulution @ 800 x 600 but that
//must be screenres.
frame.setSize(RESOLUTION_W, RESOLUTION_H);
GridBagConstraints gbc = new GridBagConstraints();
GridBagLayout gbl = new GridBagLayout();
frame.getContentPane().setLayout(gbl);
frame.getContentPane().setBackground(Color.white);
//now, drawWidth and drawHeight should have the values
//of the "inner-space" of the frame, so that i get ALWAYS
//a maximum square bordpanel, and the rest must be infopanel
//When i make the frame 800x600, the "user space" will be something
//of 795x550 , but i want that dynamically taken from the frame
//because i want the frame to be resizable, and this program
//have to work also on 1024x768 etc etc
//my question is, how can i get dynamicly drawHeight and drawWidth
int drawWidth = ????????
int drawHeight = ???????
bordPanel = new JPanel();
bordPanel.setBackground(Color.black);
bordPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(drawHeight,drawHeight));
gbc.gridheight = GridBagConstraints.REMAINDER;
gbc.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH;
gbc.weightx = 0.0;
gbc.weighty = 0.0;
gbl.setConstraints(bordPanel, gbc);
infoPanel = new JPanel();
infoPanel.setBackground(Color.yellow);
infoPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(
drawWidth -drawHeight,drawHeight)
gbc.gridheight = GridBagConstraints.REMAINDER;
gbc.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH;
gbc.weightx = 0.0;
gbc.weighty = 0.0;
gbl.setConstraints(bordPanel, gbc);
frame.getContentPane().add(bordPanel);
frame.getContentPane().add(infoPanel);
frame.setVisible(true);
Thx for your quick reply by the way

  • Trsnafer user dimensions from package to ScriptLogic

    Hello allm
    I would like to create a data package which prompts the user to select values for one user dimension. The I will transfer these values to the relevant SciptLogic.
    In the prompr command of the data manager the following variables exists: %TIME_DIM%, %CATEGORY_DIM% etc. There is also %DIMS%. I did not see any option to select a user dimension. As I understand it, I can not select the dimension name directly in the prompt command of the data package.
    Any ideas?
    TIA,
    Avihay

    Hello again,
    I was able to do what I wanted (thanks Ethan) but I still work as a "dumb copier" rather than someone who really understands what he is doing.
    The data manager script, which seems to be correct is:
    PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,%SELECTION%,,"Select values for the relevant dimensions","P_BUDGET_MODEL,P_MONTH")
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SUSER,%SUSER%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SAPPSET,%APPSET%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SAPP,%APP%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SELECTION,%SELECTION%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,LOGICFILENAME,TRANSLATE_FOB_TO_ILS.LGF)
    My misunderstanding is how to use the PROMPT command and especially the TYPE. for example, I have also wrote the following script:
    PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,%PRMP_P_MONTH%,,"Select periods for calculation","%TIME_DIM%")
    PROMPT(DIMENSIONMEMBER,%PRMP_P_BUDGET_MODEL%,"Select Dimension","Select Dimension Members",P_BUDGET_MODEL)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SUSER,%SUSER%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SAPPSET,%APPSET%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SAPP,%APP%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,SELECTION,%PRMP_P_MONTH%)
    TASK(ZBPC_PROMPT_EXP_RUN_LOGIC,LOGICFILENAME,TRANSLATE_FOB_TO_ILS.LGF)
    I am trying to define to myself the difference between the two scripts. One question is will the second one transfer the values of the P_BUDGET_MODEL at all to the script logic?
    A second question is where can I find a good documentation for the various PROCESS TYPES. The SAP documentation only documents process types that are used in the system delivered PROCESS CHAINS. This is not a systematic review of all of them. Expeciall missing is the RUN_LOGIC?
    TIA

  • Does Photoshop CS6 Extended allows users to crop individual frames?

    Does Photoshop CS6 Extended allows users to crop individual frames? As in just one segment of the video? If so, how is it done?

    Hi there
    The Crop tool in Photoshop functions by cropping the entire image area - however, you can use a Layer Mask to edit an indiviual video or animation frame, as shown below.
    1. Start by importing your video or animation in Photoshop, making sure to convert frames to layers (File > Import > Video Frames To Layers...). Go to your layers panel and select the frame you'd like to crop. Turn on the visibility of the layer by clicking on the small check box to the left of the layer icon - it should turn into an eye as shown below. Then, click the "Add vector mask" icon highlighted below.
    2. Next, select the Rectangular Marquee tool (or use an alternative selection method if you want a different shape) and draw a seelction around the part of your video/animation you want to keep.
    3. Go to Select > Inverse to select the inverse of the area you just selected.
    4. Grab the Paint Bucket Tool and fill the selected area with pure Black (#000000). This will effectively "crop" the layer you have selected. You can see below that the layer underneath my selected layer is now showing through where I filled the selection with black.
    The great thing about using a mask is that you can edit it or delete it altogether if need be. Note though that the area you mask will show up as transparent pixels in your Timeline panel - you can see the layer I edited on the far right of my timeline in the screenshot above.
    Please post again if you need additional help, or if what I demonstrated is not what you were trying to do.
    Cheers!

  • URGENT: What happend if I define the Time Dimension like a user dimension?

    I define the Time Dimension like a user Dimension because in the time I don't need the quarter, so can I access my metadata from OLAP tools (BI Beans)?
    PLEASE HELP.

    Magini,
    You can define time dimension as user dimension. It will work well. I have been defining time dimension as user dimension.
    For simple arithmetic calculations and aggregations, there will be no problem.
    However you will not be able to do time specific calculations.
    I am using SUM as aggegation and Division, Ratio, Addition in calculated measures.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difficult to filtrate the user Dimension table

    I have dimension table, named user, and fact table. I want to filtrate that right user can review right value from the fact table based on user's windows authenication. You use the WA to filtrate the dimension table.
    I have used the syntax code "{STRTOMEMBER("[xxxxx].[xxxxxx].&[" + Username() + "]")}" at the textbox "Allowed member set". (Picture 1).
    Unfortunately, the value in fact table is not working.
    Do you guys have a better solution?

    Create a Role for a particular user (Can Do it through SSMS also) and then go inside role and add an user to that role. Please follow below steps
    Security Setting at SSAS Level
    For Example: This security setup has been done to prevent users to not see other users’ data. Our Main dimension is DIM_PROVIDER and column Provider_ID and security setup has been done based on Provider_ID. Created a role ABC_Role based on requirement and
    for this role given specific access by editing roleàGo to ‘Dimension Data’àUnder a cube (Regional Sales) you will have all dimensions used
    à Select one dimension, for example, DIM_PROVIDERàGo to Attribute Hierarchy and select column Provider_IDà Deselect all members
    and then select only a specific member like 5 (ABC provider)àGo to Advance Tabà Check the ‘Enable Visual Total’àThis way you have
    to restrict all the dimensions where we have column Provider_ID
    à Click ok
    Now add those members to ABC_Role who all belongs to Provider ABC
    Security Setting at ProClarity Level
    Go to Analytic Server Administration ToolàClick on RolesàAdd the Members to ABC_Role who all belongs to Provider ABC.
    So this way when a user try to access ProClarity URL, user needs to provide User ID and Password and based on role user will be able to access data only related to him/her. User can build own
    report (ProClarity View) and can save it.

  • [BPC Excel] User dimension prompt in EvDTSModifyPkg

    Hi there,
    In EvDTSModifyPkg your can prompt the user for different dimension type (A, C, R, E, T) or all the application's dimensions (%DIMS% variable).
    Is there a way to choose some of the user's dimensions (U1 or U2...) without prompting for the whole set of application dimensions ?
    Thank you
    Pascal

    Hi Alwin,
    Unfortunately, it doesn't work as the double marked are removed when you save the package and only the first dimension is kept.
    You write :
    PROMPT(SELECT,,,"Please select the members of the following dimensions","CATEGORY,ENTITY,TIME,COSTCENTER")
    After saving
    PROMPT(SELECT,,,"Please select the members of the following dimensions",CATEGORY,ENTITY,TIME,COSTCENTER)
    So, only CATEGORY is prompt.
    Any idea of the syntax to use ?

  • Error while creating user dimension in awm

    Hi,
    I am new to awm. I am trying to create a dimension in my workspace, but i receive an error after i click 'create'. When i check the detailed error, i think its something to do with the OLAP_TABLE. Please find the error message below,
    ===================================================
    Your metadata changes have been saved, with the following errors
    Invalid Metadata Objects:
    Invalid Object "TAN.TICKERSYMBOL": "CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW  "TAN"."TICKERSYMBOL_VIEW" AS    SELECT      "DIM_KEY",      "LEVEL_NAME",      "MEMBER_TYPE",      "DIM_ORDER",      "LONG_DESCRIPTION",      "SHORT_DESCRIPTION"   FROM TABLE(CUBE_TABLE('"TAN"."TICKERSYMBOL"') )
    ORA-00902: invalid datatype "
    ====================================================
    Please advise.

    Which version of the database (not AWM!) are you using?  (e.g. 11.2.0.3)
    My guess is that there is a problem with your OLAP installation and that you will need to open a service request to get it resolved.  But the following may help us to track down the problem.
    alter session set events='902 trace name errorstack';
    alter session set tracefile_identifier=OLAP;
    SELECT
       "DIM_KEY",
       "LEVEL_NAME",
       "MEMBER_TYPE",
       "DIM_ORDER",
       "LONG_DESCRIPTION",
       "SHORT_DESCRIPTION"
    FROM TABLE(CUBE_TABLE('"TAN"."TICKERSYMBOL"') )
    Once you have run this (in a single session), look for a trace file containing the word OLAP in its file name.  It should contain a stack trace that will tell us where the ORA-00902 is being raised. The trace file will be long, but the interesting part begins like this:
    ----- Call Stack Trace -----
    calling              call     entry                argument values in hex
    location             type     point                (? means dubious value)
    skdstdst()+29        call     kgdsdst()            7FFFADE14590 ? 000000000 ?

  • White iPad users: is the white frame distracting?

    I love the look of the white iPad but I'm just wondering, when you are watching video, particularly in a dim environment, is the white frame around the screen distracting? I'm thinking maybe it makes more sense to have a black screen just for visual comfort....?

    "The white bezel looks good, aesthetically — very similar to the infamous white iPhone 4s that I played with after last year’s WWDC keynote. But, I found the white bezel distracting. With the black, the frame disappears from mind when you’re using the iPad. With the white, it always seemed like I was looking at a white frame around the screen. There’s a reason why movies are letterboxed with black bars, not white ones, and why most TVs are framed by black." (Source)

  • Getting FLV to stop playing when user clicks on nav button

    I have a portfolio_mc that is inside of a content_mc (stage->content_mc->portfolio_mc). There are 3 buttons that take the user to an appropriate frame designated by a frame label and this loads up an FLV. The problem is that when I click on any of the navigation buttons on the main timeline, the FLV that is currently playing, is still playing (I can hear the audio). So I need to figure out how to stop this.
    Here is the code used for controlling the buttons in the motion_mc timeline:
    stop();
    var naviArr:Array = new Array(btn01, btn02, btn03);
    btn01.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
    btn02.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
    btn03.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
    btn01.buttonMode = true;
    btn02.buttonMode = true;
    btn03.buttonMode = true;
    function navigate(event:MouseEvent):void
    switch(event.target){
       case btn01:trace("video01");
       gotoAndPlay("video01");
       handleBtn(btn01);
       break;
       case btn02:trace("video02");
       gotoAndPlay("video02");
       handleBtn(btn02);
       break;
       case btn03:trace("video03");
       gotoAndPlay("video03");
       handleBtn(btn03);
       break;
    function handleBtn(btn:MovieClip):void
       for(var i:uint = 0; i<naviArr.length; i++){
          if(naviArr[i] == btn){
             naviArr[i].removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
             naviArr[i].buttonMode = false;
          }else{
             naviArr[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, navigate);
             naviArr[i].buttonMode = true;

    I really like your layout it is very cool looking.
    You have it all set up just right. KGlad is right you don't even need to embed the flvplayback controls in another movieclip. I think the reason I had them in movieclips was another designer had them all set up that way and at the time I didn't want to mess with them. =P
    At the beginning of your navigate function before you drop into the switch statement just put this in.....
    function navigate(event:MouseEvent):void
        if(movie != null) //anytime there is something called movie on in scope when we navigate tell it to stop.
            movie.stop();
    switch(event.target){
       case btn01:trace("video01");
       gotoAndPlay("video01");
       handleBtn(btn01);
       break;
       case btn02:trace("video02");
       gotoAndPlay("video02");
       handleBtn(btn02);
       break;
       case btn03:trace("video03");
       gotoAndPlay("video03");
       handleBtn(btn03);
       break;
    That should do it for you.

  • How can I link two frames via a button on one of the frame?help Plz

    Ok,here is the problem. I got two fully working java frames,each has different funcion. On one of the frames(my home Frame" Frame 1" ) i got a button called "Add User", when i press it i should then get my other frame(Frame2) to popup/run. in Frame1 i got this code as action for the add user button.Note: each Frame have thier own Main class.
    public void actionPerformed (ActionEvent e)
    if (e.getSource()==jbtnAddUser)
    // new Frame2(this,"hshsh",jb);
    ////////////// The commented line is where i am not sure what to put in there, Frame1 is the name of my Frame 2 class......
    Please could anyone tell me how do i link Frame 2 to Frame 1....i appreciate it....Max

    You can create both together on pgm startup (instaniation of the class).
    Next for frame1 - I'll call it - you can setBounds(int, int, int, int) and setVisible(true); When you press the button on frame1 to get frame2, you can then do frame1.hide(), followed by frame2 setBounds and setVisible. Finally, when you are done with frame2 you can do frame2.dispose() and frame1.show(). try that.

  • Print frames is grayed out, how can I print only one GMAIL frame ?

    I would like to print the contents of a mail in gmail, and not everything around it.
    Using print frames does not seem to work, it is grayed out.
    Is there a solution for this ?
    I read somewhere that sometimes something that looks like a frame is not really a frame.
    The mail content 'frame' can be scrolled up and down, while the left (gmail info frame) and
    right (adverts) remain in place.

    Are you printing through Preview? When Firefox 29 was released some users noted that printing frames did not work if you were accessing Print through Preview. Instead, you had to access the Print dialog directly from the page, for example, by pressing Ctrl+p.
    For better results, though, could I suggest using the print-formatted version of the message? Above the message you should find a printer icon that will pop up a cleanly formatted version of the message (by default, the new window is diverted to a new tab).

  • How to get the Frame size in H.263 by JMF ?

    Dear all,
    How to get the individual frame size in H.263 format if the H.263 file is a format of InputStream ???

    VideoFormat.getSize() returns a Dimension of a frame. H263Format is a subclass of VideoFormat. Guess you could get that object from getFormat() in your stream if it's a PullBufferStream. Or, with a Processor, you could do getTrackControls() and iterate through the TrackControl.getFormat()s until you find the VideoFormat.
    Suppose you could also get a FrameGrabbingControl, grab a frame and get the Dimension from him.
