User Uploads - is this even possible with BC?

For the sake of simplification, consider this potential site to be an art showcase site.
I am looking to build a site where people can upload their artworks and have them displayed full-screen with captions about said art.  I've found an HTML template which works beautifully provided you manually upload images and adjust the HTML accordingly.
So now, I want to let users create an account and get their own personal "site" for their art.  So far so good with BC, but now comes the part where I get stuck.  So far, all I can do is add single 'upload' fields to a form.  Problem is, they can have 1 image or 50 - I have no idea.
Is there such a thing as a 'dynamic' upload app so they can upload as many images as they want?
So they've theoretically uploaded 20 images.  They all go into the same 'userupload' folder though and get mixed in with everyone else's images.  Their 'site' will be a BC web app so it will already be in a subfolder on the server.
Can user uploads in a web app be uploaded to a unique 'userupload' folder in that web app subfolder?
So now 'X' number of images are saved in a unique folder for that user's web app.  Now I have to display those images on the page.  I can use the {tag_image1}, {tag_image2}, etc tags to provide the URL of the images in the HTML.  Problem is, the images are in a javascript list and I need to dynamically create that list of the correct length with the 'X' number of pictures the user has uploaded.

Can I count the number of images in a folder and generate the correct number of {tag} elements and also create a list in which to put that number of tags?
Of course, the site doesn't have to follow the exact requirements above, but that's the idea.  Can I do any of this or something to the same effect in BC since I can't use PHP or anything else server side?

Hi there,
- Every custom web app field you add as an image type field will become an upload field on web app creation But you are limited to the amount you create, say 20.
- There is no dynamic upload.
- There is one folder for the web app you set, there is no way of splitting the files up. But the associated files referenced to that user only. You can also associate custom CRM fields if you wish.
- {tag_yourimage_value} Gets the raw path of an image.
- You cant run read through a folder to generate the number of tags.
