Using a filter when creating a hybrid directory

Hi all,
Has anyone succesfully used an LDAP filter notation when specifying the LDAP URL for a hybrid directory during configuration> We are using AD, and the URL we are using is as follows:
ldap://ldap-na.foo.net/dc=foo,dc=net???(&(&(objectclass=user)(objectCategory=Person)(!(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2)))(&(%7c(%7c(description=*contractor*)(description=*co-op*)(description=*consultant*))(&(employeeID=*)(FOOEmploymentStatus=3)))))
I have escaped the | characters with %7c as per the RFC spec. We see directory results but these results lead me to believe the filter was ignored when the configuration executed.
Anyone have an udea about this?

Well modifying the ldap.conf file won't work because this is resident on an MS-AD controller not located on the same server as BPM. I have trashed through the BPM config files and WLS config to no avail. I think I need to go back to the URL syntax.

I hit retry and now the "Create Oracle Internet Directory" completed successfully. But now the error is on "Start Oracle Internet Directory". Following error appears in the log file:

its just a portal service which would be called when searching a document created on a particular date or betwwen a range of date.so what i require is which BW variable to be used when handling range.As for variable technical name we use VAR_NAME_I and for single value variable we VAR_VALUE_EXT_I
in the similar manner i want BW variable to be used for range of values.

Strange Permissions problem when creating new Open Directory user

I just set up a mac lab to authenticate to an Open Directory server which also stores home folders. All of the initial users I created work fine, there were about 50 users that I set up. When I added a new user this morning though, it would not allow him to access anything within his home folder (i.e. nothing worked)
I went back to the server and took a look at the Users share and noticed that when his accound was created, instead of setting the owner of the folder to his username (xxx123) it was set to his userid number (1024). I did a chown on his directory to his username and he was then able to access his home directory from the clients.
I realize I found a fix, but I would prefer to not have to do this every time I create a new user. Why is this happening?

Using mail payload to create target file directory

Hi Folks
I have a scenario where I need to get email attachments and place them in a folder structure based on text written in the subject field of the original payload.
My current setup is:
Sender:
Mail adapter using PayloadSwapBean module in order to get the attached .csv file in the mails.
Receiver:
Plain File adapter currently pointing to a specific destination.
I would like to use the Subject field from the original payload (MailMessage), but as I use the PayloadSwapBean, the payload is swapped to MailAttachment-1 in which I dont have subject information.
Now the question is: Is it possible to get this information and then use it in e.g Adapter Specific Message Attributes of the receiver channel, AND still swap the payload to put the attachment in the folder created?
Please let me know if something needs clarification

you pick the email and use the ASMA to read email subject. then you can use AF module to put email subject value to directory variable. then use the variable in receiver file adapter.

Using logical operators when creating software groups

Is there a way to use simple logical operators when using filters for creating software groups?
An example of what I want to do is to select all updates for the past month - but not include Definition Updates for instance. So all update classifications but NOT definition updates.

The '-' trick only works for ADRs to my knowledge.
For searching within the console, anytime you add criteria for the same attribute, it always adds it with an OR. This is a known design shortfall.
For your question specifically though, you need to reverse your thinking and instead of being exclusive, think inclusively. Thus, you can add an attribute multiple times to the search criteria by selecting and adding it multiple times -- once for each
classification that's not definition updates. Then, save the search as pointed out by Torsten.

I could use some tips when creating a SD DVD from HD masters

I have been having problems with this workflow from day one. First, some background. I have been producing an hour long football highlight show for local cable for over 20 years. it is extremely popular in our community and I couldn't be happier but over the years the quality has gotten worse when broadcast even though my quality has gotten better. When I ran the program from 3/4 SP tape years ago, it looked great. But now, the cable system will only provide a SD DVD player with composite out (yikes) for broadcast.
I shoot and master in 720p 60. I have DVD SP, Toast Titanium, and iDVD available to create my disc to give to the cable company. Also, it must have a simple menu so the playback machine can begin play at the correct time. Can anyone give me a few tips on how to simply burn the master to the DVD for the best looking playback possible? Any tips will be appreciated.

I'm not sure about the "720p60" but the normal way of dealing with both SD and HD videos is Share>Export Media and leave everything in the default position.
Drop the resulting file in iDVD.
I suggest you test it using a very short video, maybe a couple of minutes of typical shots, and burn it on a DVD-RW so you are not wasting discs.
This way it will only take about 10 minutes to see the results and you can test out different techniques, if necessary, very quickly and at no cost.

Cannot enter URL or use advanced tab when creating a (local) testing server

I have created a site in Dreamweaver and I have tried creating a testing server. However everytime I try to create a test server Dreamweaver does not allow me to enter the Web URL in the server window. I knnow its local (localhost) but it seems it should still need a URL - http://localhost/...
It allows me put in the name of the server the connection type - Local/Network and allows me to browse to the server folder and select it but does not allow me to put any data in to Web URL: field.
Additionally, it does not allow me to select the Advanced tab to specify my Server Model - PHP MySQL.
When I click save with these settings I can see all the necessary files and folders in the Dreameaver Testing Server window but when I go to create a database connection I get an error saying "The URL prefix http:// for this site's testing server could not be resolved" - on hitting the Select button to select the database.
I am running WAMP (in Windows 7) and I can see the database in phpMyAdmin. I know the username and password are correct.

Should I use HFS+ compression when creating installers?

I am creating a Mac Installer (using Packages), and I noticed that there is an option whether to use HFS+ Compression.
I can use this since I am supporting Mac OS X 10.7 and higher, but I do not know the advantages of using such option.
Also, I am creating a very large installer (~15GB).

Problem in opening PDF files using Reader 8 when created with iText 2.1.3

We are facing problem in using IText version 2.1.3. We are using Acrobat Reader 8.1 for viewing the PDF documents. In our Shell program we are splitting and merging the pdf documents using IText. The pdf document works correctly and is readable for documents with one page while it fails for documents with multiple pages.Also please note that it works fine with the older Arcobat reader version say version 7.0 and below but since business has migrated to acrobat higher version we expect IText to work in sync.
We have already raised a bug with the iText and got the information from them stating that the problem is due to the over nesting of XObjects, which has a threshold value of 50 and was discarded in earlier versions but got flagged in Acrobad Reader 8. Also note that we have reported a bug with the adobe development team.
We tried working with other Java PDF tools (jPDFProces), to manupulate the pdf files but were facing the same problem. Hence we understand that the problem is with Adobe Reader 8 as the manupulated pages are being viewed in Adobe Reader 7, but fails to read in Adobe Reader 8.
Kindly provide us with a solution.

Why is PDFMaker using faux italics when creating pdf from Word?

Hi,
I have a word 2013 document using an opentype font, namely The Sans. Some of the words using that font are in italics.
If I print (Ctrl+P) the document to Adobe PDF, the pdf looks fine, and the fonts embedded in the PDF as reported by Acrobat are The Sans and The Sans Italic.
But if I use the PDFMaker plugin, the words in italics use some kind of faux italic, where the regular letters are just slanted. The font embedded in the PDF as reported by Acrobat is only The Sans.
I got sick of trying every possible parameter in the Word plugin, any idea of what to? Printing the document top pdf and then adding all the bookmarks by hand would be excruciatingly tedious.
I could also open the PDF in acrobat and select every occurence of an italic word, then re-set it to italic, which then uses the right italic version of the font, but come on...

Basically using the printer will always embed and use the italic font, e.g. with the standard, press or high quality print settings. Even though there is a checkbox ticked by default named "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document font", the result does not seem to change if this box is ticked or not.
If I use PDFMaker, no matter what settings I use I end up with the regular font being simply slanted. I even tried setting compatibility with Acrobat 1.7 and checking "Embed Opentype fonts".

Most likely the library blocks the ports needed for sending and receiving mail. Check with them.

Using hint when creating index

is it possible to use a hint when creating an index.
for example normally when creating an index, optimizer does full table scan, but i want it to use a different index to walk through the table.
any ideas?

If the new index is a subset of an existing index, Oracle should be able to read the existing index to create the new index.
However, if the index consists of such a combination of columns that one or more is not in the subset then it has to read all the rows of the table.
