Using a Java Program to execute JavaScript from a website

Okay, let me try and explain as good as I can. I have a program now, that searched through all files and folders in Unix (Solaris machine) and gets the list of files in the bin and sbin folders.
Well, I want to find the version of each of these files from the bin and sbin folders and not all of them have the -v, -V or -version feature (or any others there may be). But, I found this page:
http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/fileFingerprints.pl
where if you go to the page I can find an md5 number, place it in the box and click submit to find versions, if available.
My thing is, as I find the number from my java program, I want to be able to open this page, insert in the box (or maybe even call the javascript function) and then submit to get the version numbers. That would mean I could need to get back info from the javascript function.
I hope that explains what I need and hope that someone can help me.
I have found information on the JSObject, but not sure what that means exactly so if someone can explain this:
JSObject win = JSObject.getWindow(this);
JSObject doc = (JSObject) win.getMember("document");
JSObject loc = (JSObject) doc.getMember("location");
String s = (String) loc.getMember("href"); // document.location.href
win.call("f", null);
it would be greatly appreciated. But, this may not even be what I need. I see that the win.call is where I would call the function needed and I am guessing the null could be where I put the number if that is how the function i need works like that. But, what I dont understand is what "document" is and "location". Also, i the "href" the page I put above? I am just lost on that. Hope someone will understand.
Thank again for the help!

Exactly so. Check out the last item - reading and writing to a URL - writing to a URL.
Pulling out the form code from that page:
<FORM METHOD="POST"  ENCTYPE="application/x-www-form-urlencoded">
<TEXTAREA NAME="md5list" ROWS=16 COLS=66 MAXLENGTH="33792"></TEXTAREA>
<BR><INPUT TYPE="submit" NAME="submit" VALUE="submit">
<INPUT TYPE="reset" VALUE="reset">
</FORM>You should end up with something like this (copying and pasting from the example):
URL url = new URL("http://http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/fileFingerprints.pl");
String sNumbers = "put your serial nos in this string"
URLConnection connection = url.openConnection();
connection.setDoOutput(true);
PrintWriter out = new PrintWriter(connection.getOutputStream());
out.println("md5list=" + sNumbers);
out.close();
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(connection.getInputStream()));
String inputLine;
while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null){
  // read in the HTML page result for later parsing?
in.close();

    Class AAA3.java,
    Class AAA20.java...
    etc
    they all look like the program I posted first time,, once executed, they will run for ever, and they will be stopped until I press CRTL + C;
    Now I hope to use another java class StopProgram.java to stop them 1 by 1 or at once instead of pressing CRTL + C;
    In this case, how to code this StopProgram.java ??
    Thanks

              WLS JMS supports the clients developed by using non-java program languages,such
              as,c++,VB?

    The short answer is yes. This is a frequently asked question. I
              suggest searching this newsgroup in google using terms like "C++",
              "IIOP", ".NET", "JCOM".
              Note also that WL 8.1 (now out in beta) contains a thin java client
              (something like 0 or 300K without JMS, 700k with. The 0K client comes
              from leveraging WL's IIOP support.)

  • Speed at which JAVA programs are executed

    While it is true that a typical JAVA program will execute slower than an equivalent program written in other languages such as C++.
    Is it because the compiled bytecodes (.class) have to be interpreted by the JVM?
    Thanks.

    yep, a .class is bytecode... the JVM interprets the bytecode "on the fly".
    The JVM's major task is to "interpolate" native operating system requests. That's why the JVM is platform specific.
    The bytecode to native interpretation takes a few clock ticks, so it's a might slower than native compiled code... but it's practically important to realise that this is not the big performance hit inherent in a "Virtual Machine"... the big (potential) performance loss is the overhead of "interpolating" every single O/S interface request... hence String BufferedReader.readLine() is light-years faster than char InputStream.read(), because .read() has to (1) interpret your request, (2) set the registers, (3) do an operating system interupt, (3) interpret the response... for EVERY SINGLE EENY WEENY CHARACTER... which in practice means you can't do an usable java port of directX... which is a shame really.
    But is does mean that you can (almost) write a webapp which is completely portable across platforms (with zero code change).
    horses....
    keith.

  • Using a java program to fill in forms using information from a spreadsheet

    I had an idea to "automate" some data entry at work and need to know if my idea is feasible with Java. Here is the back story:
    I work on a research project and we have all of our contact data in an Excel spreadsheet (I know access may be better for this but for "political reasons" I just set it up in Excel). Every day we need to pay participants and this is done through a third party website. When the participant is new to this website we need to fill in all their personal information via a form on the webpage. Since we already have all their information stored in a spreadsheet, I was thinking we could create a little program that pulls the data from the excel sheet and inserts it into the form fields.
    Can this be done with a simple java program?
    Thank you for any help!

    peroija wrote:

    Can this be done with a java program?Yes. You could certainly have your page upload the spreadsheet to your server, and you could certainly have your server program attempt to extract the data from Excel using Apache POI or JExcel or something like that. But you have to be prepared for people to upload the wrong file, or the right file in which the users have chosen unusual date formats, and so on. You could make things easier by distributing a spreadsheet which is locked down so that the users can only enter the information in specific places and specific formats, but it looks like you have missed that opportunity too.

  • I need to call a java program and pass parameters from C#

    I'm new to C# and was given a project to rewrite some of my old VB.net programs to C# to help me learn.  These VB programs call quite a few .bat files that have calls to java programs in them. I'm doing okay converting my VB code, but I've been
    stumped for days trying to figure out how to call java from C#.
    Does anyone here know how to do this?  I really should've had this figured out by now and my back is to the wall.  Ugh :(
    This is the line from the .bat file that I need to convert to C#.
    call jvbat production_r115.Automotive m:\data\MK115mn.100 m:\data\MK115mn.101 %6
    There is one parameters being passed, %6
    I would be forever grateful if someone can show me how to do this!

    Hi Joni,
    Do you mean call a bat file that it is a Java program from C#?  If so, there is an article talking about it.
    If that's not what you're trying to do, please be more specific about what you're trying to do.
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/UploadFile/maheswararao/CallingJavaProgramfromCS12062005233321PM/CallingJavaProgramfromCS.aspx
    Now the next issue is pass some parameters from C#.
    The above article tells using Process.Start() method to call java program. Also  in this class, you could  specify them all in the
    Arguments property:
    var p = new Process();
    p.StartInfo.Arguments = string.Format("{0} {1}", argument1, argument2);
    For more detailed information, please refer to

  • Java program to receive byte from serial port

    hello everyone, i am recently working one a project which require communication between pic16f877 and PC. My pic continuiously measure a voltage and send the result (a byte ranging from 0 to 255) to the rs232 port. One the pc side, my java program keep reading the serial port and it works for values 0~127 and 160~255. But if the byte value is between 127 and 160, it cannot received correctly, i get something like 375,8224,or even 65532 etc(no obvious path but more likely to be 300+,700+,8000+ or 65500+). I have been trying very hard to solve this and i think the problem is due to the pc software. I am feeling so frustrated and any suggestion will be much appreciated.
    p.s. : i used Bufferedreader.read() in my program

    --mengyaothis may not matter in your case - but don't use a Reader, use a Stream (BufferedInputStream maybe)
