Using a SDO_FILTER in a JDBC GeoRaster Query

Hi,
I have the following query which works perfectly:
http://192.168.33.52:8888/mapviewer/wms?REQUEST=GetMap
&SERVICE=WMS
&VERSION=1.1.1
&LAYERS=
&mvthemes=
<themes>
<theme name="geor_theme">
<jdbc_georaster_query
jdbc_srid="8307"
datasource="WMS"
georaster_table="imagery"
georaster_column="image_geor"
raster_bands="0"
asis="false">
(SELECT image_geor FROM (SELECT * FROM imagery WHERE acquisition_time > TIMESTAMP '2008-08-16 14:41:41.41' ORDER BY acquisition_time ASC) WHERE ROWNUM = 1)
</jdbc_georaster_query>
</theme>
</themes>
&STYLES=
&FORMAT=image/png
&BGCOLOR=0xFFFFFF
&TRANSPARENT=TRUE
&SRS=EPSG:4326
&BBOX=-84.099675,39.777289,-84.086652,39.791813
&WIDTH=500
&HEIGHT=500
My only question is whether I need to use a SDO_FILTER to optimize the SQL part of the query. For example, if it is quite a big image stored in the GeoRaster, the image may be larger than the BBOX in the WMS. Is there anything to be gained by using a SDO_FILTER in the SQL along with the BBOX info from the WMS (expressed using the ?,?,?,? notation) ?
At the moment the image is clipped using the BBOX coordinates from the WMS query automagically. I was just concerned the SQL was selecting the whole image....
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt,
when using asis="false" the spatial filter should be automatically appended to your query. You can look the log (set it to finest) to check the query being issued.
But this is just an initial filter to retrieve the objects that have some interaction with the WMS BBOX. Later, just the piece of the GeoRaster image for this BBOX will be loaded (not the whole image).

    As a general rule, it's a good idea to separate the
    presentation (JSP and HTML) from the business rules
    (database access). I know you didn't do that on the
    AS/400, you had display files and business logic in
    the same program (at least, we certainly do in ours),
    but it's a good policy to follow in the web world.
    That means, don't put your database access code in
    the JSP. Other than that, it depends on the data.
    If you have simple data (e.g. customer's name and
    d address) then a Java bean would suffice. If you
    have complex data (e.g. customer's payment history)
    then a bean still might suffice. You would use an
    "include" if you had some data (static or dynamic)
    that you wanted to appear in several different pages
    in the same form.Thanks, I figured putting the code in the JSP was not the best way, but I wasn't sure about the other options.

  • Stored procedure by using EXECUTE at the sender JDBC

    We have Scenario from JDBC to RFC (ASYNCH).We are using Oracle DB,at the database side we have a stored Procedure and inside the Procedure we are accessing multiple table.
    My query is how can we excecute update sql statement a stored procedure by using EXECUTE at the sender JDBC?
    EXECUTE SP_STUDENT_UPDATE
    ERROR: 'java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement '. For details, contact your database server vendor.

    Hi. Peter.
    yes , is possible to update your rows in your sp.
    If you want the data determined from the Query SQL Statement to remain in the database unchanged after being sent successfully, enter <TEST>.This is recommended if the data has not only been read, but also changed by a stored procedure entered under Query SQL Statement.

    Anton,
    Why it hangs?It's waiting for a lock to be released. The default behaviour of Oracle is to wait indefinitely for a lock to be released.
    You can see this behaviour if you try to update the same row from tw different "SQL*Plus" sessions, for example (since the default behaviour of "SQL*Plus" is not to automatically commit changes).
    In one "SQL*Plus" session, update a row -- but do not commit. In the second session, try to update the same row -- it "hangs". It will remain like this until the first session releases the lock. The simplest way to release the lock is for the first session to execute either a "commit" or "rollback". As soon as you do that, you will see the first session become unstuck.
    Of-course, from the [lack of] information you have posted, I cannot tell you what is holding the lock, or why.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • JDBC SQL Query Transactionality

    Hi Experts,
    If possible, please can you let me know how the JDBC SQL Query Transactionality works?
    For example, in the JDBC communication channel configuration parameters,
    if I use "SELECT * FROM orders WHERE new = 'TRUE' " for the select query and;
    if I use "UPDATE orders SET new = 'FALSE' WHERE new = 'TRUE' " for the update query;
    does the UPDATE query just update the records contained in that particular record set (for a particular polling instance)?
    What happens if someone inserts new records into the orders table just before the update query executes? Will the update query update those records too? Or just those records in the record set for a particular polling instance? How does XI/PI distinguish between the records contained in the record set for (for a particular polling instance) and the records inserted just before the update query executes?
    Thanks and regards,
    Brendon

    hi,
    as far as I remember this works correctly only when you set Transaction Isolation Levels to repeatable_read or serializable
    have a look at those levels :
    http://api.openoffice.org/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/sdbc/TransactionIsolation.html
    so I guess both of them should prevent situations you're talking about

  • Insert data 32K into a column of type LONG using the oracle server side jdbc driver

    Hi,
    I need to insert data of more than 32k into a
    column of type LONG.
    I use the following code:
    String s = "larger then 32K";
    PreparedStatement pstmt = dbcon.prepareStatement(
    "INSERT INTO TEST (LO) VALUES (?)");
    pstmt.setCharacterStream(1, new StringReader(s), s.length());
    pstmt.executeUpdate();
    dbcon.commit();
    If I use the "standard" oracle thin client driver from classes_12.zip ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@kn7:1521:kn7a") every thing is working fine. But if I use the oracle server side jdbc driver ("jdbc:default:connection:") I get the exception java.sql.SQLException:
    Datasize larger then max. datasize for this type: oracle.jdbc.kprb.KprbDBStatement@50f4f46c
    even if the string s exceeds a length of 32767 bytes.
    I'm afraid it has something to do with the 32K limitation in PL/SQL but in fact we do not use any PL/SQL code in this case.
    What can we do? Using LOB's is not an option because we have client software written in 3rd party 4gl language that is unable to handle LOB's.
    Any idea would be appreciated.

    Hi,
    If you want all the rows from goh, then you don't want any conditions like  goh.OFFER_NO <> 0.
    Make all the joins to goh outer joins, and make all conditions that apply to any tables joined to goh (or to tables joined to them) part of the join condition, like this:
    FROM             APPS_JP.GEDIS_OFFER_HEADER     goh
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_ORDER_BUILDS     gob  ON   gob.OFFER_NO = goh.OFFER_NO
                                                         AND  gob.BUILD_NO = 1
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_ORDER_LINES      gol  ON   gol.OFFER_NO = goh.OFFER_NO
                                                         AND  gol.BUILD_NO = 1
                                                         AND  gol.LINE_NO  = 1
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_OFFER_RELATED_CUSTOMER
                                                    gorc ...
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
    Simplify the problem as much as possible.  For example, do you really need all those tables to show what the problem is?  Of course, you need them in tyour real query, but if you understand a solution that only involves 4 or 5 tables, you'll know how to apply it to any number of tables.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

  • How to use a Formula Column in the main query?

    Hi All,
    I've tried to use a formula columns defined in some query in the condition of that query like this:
    where (:cf_ex - :cf_ex2) >= 5
    but when I run the report no data returned! Why? and how to use it the condition of the query?
    Note: I'm using Forms 6i

    where (:cf_ex - :cf_ex2) >= 5You cannot do that. Formula columns are not part of the select statement (which runs in the database), but are processed in the report.
    When you created this query, my guess is that you got the message "Note: the query Q1 has created the bind parameter(s) cf_ex, cf_ex2". Check these User Parameters in your data model. So, you are actually referencing user parameters in the query, not formula columns.
    I made a computations and things using PL/SQL that can't be done in the select statement in the data model!If it's pl/sql you can probably use that in your query. Create some database functions for cf_ex and cf_ex2 and use these in your query.

    Hi,
    Could you please make sure your binding style(Oracle Positional,Oracle named..etc) of the Seeded VO and Custom Vo are same.
    This is the option you will get when you are extending your vo. So make sure that both are same.
    You can refer the below link too

  • When to use SELECT and END SELECT in the query.

    hi all,
    When to use SELECT and END SELECT in the query.
    regads,
    Venkata Suresh Penke.

    Hi Suresh..
    When do we need to use SELECT .. ENDSELECT
    Usually we will never use SELECT .. ENDSELECT as it gives very poor performance.
    But whenever we read a single Record we will use it as an alternative for SELECT SINGLE in some scenarios.
    Eg: When the Full primary key is not specified in the WHERE clause.
    SELECT * FROM MARC INTO WA_MARC UP TO 1 ROWS WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
    ENDSELECT.
    And other scenario is when we perform AGGREGATE OPERATIONS.when the Result is only one row.
    SELECT SUM( LABST ) FROM MARD INTO V_LABST UP TO 1 ROWS
    WHERE MATNR = P_MATNR.
    ENDSELECT.
    Note: In The Above scenario we cannot use SELECT SINGLE..

  • Using the client result cache without the query result cache

    This is done using a result_cache hint in the query.

    You haven't provided ANY information about how you configured the result cache. Different parameters are used for configuring the client versus the server result cache so you need to post what, if anything, you configured.
    Post the code you executed when you set the 'client_result_cache_lag' and 'client_result_cache_size' parameters so we can see what values you used. Also post the results of querying those parameters after you set them that show that they really are set.
    You also need to post your app code that shows that you are using the OCI statements are used when you want to use client side result cacheing.
    See the OCI dev guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28395/oci10new.htm#sthref1491
    Statement Caching in OCI
    Statement caching refers to the feature that provides and manages a cache of statements for each session. In the server, it means that cursors are ready to be used without the need to parse the statement again. Statement caching can be used with connection pooling and with session pooling, and will improve performance and scalability. It can be used without session pooling as well. The OCI calls that implement statement caching are:
      OCIStmtPrepare2()
      OCIStmtRelease()

    Objective: I need a query "QB" that shows how many pieces a set of customers has ordered in the year 2008. The set of customers is defined as all customers that in the previous years (the user can select one or more years) have ordered more than 500 pieces within the same year.
    Implementation: In general terms the idea is to build a query "QB" with the characteristic "Customer"  that is restricted (filtered) using a variable that is fed by another query "QA" (Replacement Path-Query).
    In order to have the selection of customers that for each of previous years (2007, 2006, 2005,...) have ordered more than 500 pieces, in the query "QA":
    - I put OrderYear as filter and defined a variable in order to ask the user which year/s he wants to analyse to define the selection
    - I put Customer and OrderYear in row
    - I put the KeyFigure Number of Pieces in column
    - I've defined the following condition: Number of Pieces > 500 with the option Caracteristic Assignment = All Characteristics in the Drilldown Indipendently
    Now if I run the query "QA" it works correctly showing me all customers that in the selected years have ordered more than 500 pieces within of the same year.
    If I run the query "QB" it shows a correct result only if I enter only one year (for example 2006) in the OrderYear field (coming from the query "QA"); if I enter more than one year (for example 2006 and 2007) the selection of customers showed is not the same defined by the first query "QB": I was expecting to see all customers defined from the first query less all customers that have no ordered any piece in 2008.
    Questions
    1) Why is query "QA" working on a different selection of customers when the user selects more than one year?
    2) Cosidering the scenario and the objective described above do you have any other idea?
    Thanks

    Hi Christophe,
         it's ok for me if I consider the customer only once in the final selection of customers that feeds the final query, this is my objective.
    However as test I've created 2 "input" queries, one related to 2006 and one related to 2007, and then in my destination query I've tried to restrict the customer using 2 variables of type replacement path-query (one attached to the 2006 query and one attached to the 2007 query). Unfortunately when I try to check and save the destination query, Query Designer tells me it is not possible to restrict the characteristic in this way.
    Could you please describe me steps you run in to order to restrict a characteristic using more than one variable of type replacement path-query?
    Thank you in advance for your answer.
    Ciao,

  • Windows Authentication using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver

    Hi,
    I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver to connect to SQL Server 2000 database, can anyone tell me the connection URL for windows authentication. SQL authentication is working fine.
    DataDirect has drivers for windows authentication but I am not using it.

    You can't do it with the Microsoft driver. There's a free driver called jTDS that may be able to (I don't know).
    (edit) Looking at their FAQ it looks like it does:
