  • Use Adobe Education License to write a book

May I use the Adobe Educational License to write a book about the software itself? ie. a book How to Use Adobe Flash Effectively in Classroom etc.
    Thanks.

Yes, you can the Adobe Educational License to write a book about the software itself anyway and don't see any issues with that. So, you can go ahead and write a book.....
    It's a go go go!!!!!

  • I don't understand.  I use Google Docs to write letters & other forms, then convert them to PDFs using Adobe Acrobat.  If Forms Central closes, will I still be able to do this?

I don't understand.  I use Google Docs to write letters & other forms, then convert them to PDFs using Adobe Acrobat.  If Forms Central closes, will I still be able to do this?

Adobe also has Acrobat.com and there is DropBox.com. Adobe has also announced Adobe Document Cloud.
Forms central provide a subscription service for users with Reader to create simple forms. Apparently this did not meet a majority of users and with the minimal price difference for Acrobat and free web storage the users were better served without it. I expect cloud services will continue to emerge until providers better and more fully understand the user requirements.

  • How to sell a file using adobe muse?

    Hi,
I am trying to create an Ebook store using Adobe Muse. The PDF files can each be uploaded from my HDD but I want to sell them.
I want to use Paypal and I know how to initialise and place it from Widget bar. But what I can not figure out is how to relate this paypal button to the file so that users can access the files after purchasing it?
Do I need to write a code or place a specific HTML?
    Many thanks,
    C

    Hi Calvin,
You can't achieve this by Muse alone. This requires some server side coding as well. Alternatively, you can take advantage of Business Catalyst Ecommerce feature if you decide to host the site on BC. You can achieve this in 2 ways on BC.
    1. You can create a secure zone, add the books to this secure zone and sell secure zone membership. Once the customer has purchased the secure zone membership, they will have access to the books.
    2. You can create downloadable products and sell them on your site.

  • Security Handler to use Adobe's Standard to Encypt and Decrypt File

    Hello,
I am trying to write an Adobe Acrobat Security Handler plug-in based on the sample provided by Adobe.
Within the plugin source code - a CRYPT_KEY of 'Mickey' is used to encrypt/decrypt the document once the security handler is placed on the document.
Is there a way to use Adobe's CRYPT_KEY? Or what do I pass back from the callback function NewCryptDataExProc - so that a document with Adobe's encryption/decryption is used on the file?
The main goal is such that the document needs my security handler plugin to open/view the document. Please note that we know the open password and the owner password that we set on the file.
Thanks in advance for any advice and information anyone can provide.

We are trying require the user to have our plugin to open the PDFs that we supply them. If we use Adobe security - then anyone who know's the password can open the files. Now, there isn't anything to prevent them from sending along the plugin also - but that is another issue.
We would like to use the plugin to set the security on the file before the user gets the file - but the file is coming from another division and they are currenty unable to spend the time to update their process to include the that step. But, the files are set with Standard Adobe security. We are however able to tweek the PDF file, in the trailer, to recognize that our Security Handler is to be used.
So, when our security handler kicks in - it doesn't send back the appropriate 'key' to Acrobat and all the pages come up blank.
This is a temporary messure. We are currently getting a plan together to use Adobe Life Cycle (DRM), but the hardware acquision and other beauracy is keeping that from materializing for a few months and we need something yesterday (as my boss says).
If you have any guidance or suggestions - that would be welcome.

  • Techniques needed for Automated (OLE) PDF Creation from Word using Adobe 9

My client currently uses Adobe 5, PDF Writer, Word and OLE automation to generate PDF files.  This is done on a server. A queue of Word documents are read. A watermark is added via a VB Macro. Then, also via a macro (below) a pdf file version of the Word doc  is generated. The pdf file is generated as temp.pdf, which the program uniquely renames later.
Unfortunately, Adobe 5 and PDF Writer cannot handle Chinese characters and now needs to.  Seems like the process  above cannot be the same with Adobe 9. How should I approach this server driven, pdf file generation from Word docs with Adobe 9? This is a 24 x 7 ongoing, 100s of documents a day process. It isn’t clear to me that PDF Writer is still an option.  With Adobe 9 installed on a client, it is possible to save a Chinese character Word document using the Adobe ‘Convert to PDF’ toolbar button
    Sub WritePdfFile()
        Windows(1).Activate
        ActivePrinter = "Acrobat PDFWriter"
        Application.PrintOut FileName:="", Range:=wdPrintAllDocument, Item:= _
            wdPrintDocumentContent, Copies:=1, Pages:="", PageType:=wdPrintAllPages, _
            Collate:=True, Background:=True, PrintToFile:=False
    End Sub

I think that type of question would go in

    or

  • How do I develop for multiple screen resolutions using Adobe Air

    Hi,
I'm looking at developing mobile apps using Adobe Air but there's something I'm not quite sure. Sorry if this is a newbie question or has been repeated but I have looked at tutorials, etc but just want to get a general idea on how to prepare the assets. Here are some of my questions:-
    1) If I want to develop for the iPhone non-retina and retina resolution, do I actually need to only write the code and layout the graphics in retina(960 x 640) stage size and it will automatically scale down for non-retina resolution?
    2) How do I cater for iPhone 5 resolution? Do I actually need to swap say the background images through code by detecting the resolution size it was in? or do I actually just leave the background image longer it exceeds the stage height so when it's iPhone 5 it will show everything?
    thanks for the help!

If you are talking about regular Flash work, and not your own code-layout application, then what happens depends on the scale mode of the stage. Typically, when doing code layout the stage is set to no_scale, and you have to do all the hard work yourself, calculating the size of things, and laying them out with ActionScript.
If it's more of a typical Flash graphical scene there are two other scale modes that make life easier for you.
The default scale mode is show_all. With that you will be certain to see all of the content of your original Flash stage, and if the screen is a wider ratio than your stage, the content that is off the sides of the stage will be revealed. See this app I made, that uses that technique:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/meet-heckerty-funny-interactive/id514220257?mt=8
It works well enough, I have enough extra background graphics to go out to a 16:9 screen, including iPhone 5. That particular stage is 1024x768, and it will scale all the way from iPad 3 Retina down to iPhone 3gs.
The other scale mode that is useful is no_border. In that mode you are certain to not have any black borders around the stage. It achieves that by cropping into either the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage. See these apps I made, that work that way:
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/milkshake-mayhem/id556962979?mt=8
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/p.s.-snowflake-yourself/id571384475?mt=8
In both of those cases I have content that is correct for half way between the ratio limits of 16:9 and 4:3 (or 9:16 and 3:4 for the portrait case). When the app runs on your device, some amount of the left and right, or the top and bottom, of the stage is cropped. I have enough background content for that to be ok, and all of the important content is within the middle 14:9 or 9:14 area of the screen. The stage size for the landscape app is 1680xx1080, exactly 14:9. This approach is better than the show_all one, in that the user doesn't feel like they are seeing a lot of blank space, as can be the case when viewing a 4:3 stage on a 16:9 screen.
One last thing, even with either of those techniques the app won't fill the iPhone 5 screen. To get that to work you have to include a splash screen that is 640x1136, and name [email protected]. With that in place iOS knows to make your app use the full width or height of the iPhone 5.

  • Using 10.6.8, internet pdf documents not opening using Adobe Reader; how is this corrected?

Using 10.6.8, internet pdf documents not opening using Adobe Reader; how is this corrected?  I've tried changing "sharing and permissions" to "read and write" as suggested on other help sites, but this did not correct the problem.

I had the same problem---contacted Adobe and their service rep helped me by
    A.   Deleting  Adobe Reader from my iMac's Applications in Finder
    B.   Downloading Google Chrome browser and then
    C.   Downloading the latest Adobe Reader for Mac 10.6.8 in Google Chrome--it works
Adobe acknowledges problem with the latest Snow Leopard update 10.6.8 and with this work around, I can open PDF's using the Google Chrome Browser.
Is this the ideal solution---NO.  Safari is my main browser. I now have to use a separate browser for PDF's.
Am I happy to be able to open PDF's---YES
You can't believe the time I spent to solve this problem before calling Adobe for help. My Apple Care policy expired a month ago . As I use Photoshop Elements, I was not charged by Adobe for their help on the telephone.

  • Best Practices for Team Collaboration using Adobe Captivate

With a team of 6 Instructional Designers, how can Adobe Captivate be approached where we can collaborate while producing e-learning material while maintaining a consistent look and feel of the e-learning we produce?
What are the best practices for a team of 6 IDs working and creating e-learning material in Captivate?  Is there anything build-in that allows us to connect to the same libraries, templates, etc to share?
    Please advise.
    Thank you!
    Susanne

Only some tips, never collaborated with someone else, being the solo teacher. You didn't mention which version you are using, what I write here is meant for CP7.
Be sure to prepare a theme and/or a template that will be used by everyone. A theme consists of master slides, object styles, skin editor. Master slides can have custom navigation shape buttons.  In a template you can eventually also prepare different slides with placeholders, and eventually advanced actions etc. For CP6 and earlier that is the only way to reuse advanced actions, in Captivate 7 you can export shared actions that can be imported in any project for reuse.
A feature that few users know about are the external libraries. You can open the library of any project as an external library in another project. That is a good idea to store assets that you want to use in different projects: images, audio clips, video clips, eventually equations. The shared actions in a library can not (yet?) be used in another project however.
If you are on CP7 you have automatically the roundtripping with source Adobe Photoshop files and source Audition files, both from CC. That can also make collaboration lot easier if those assets are prepared in those applications. Will not expand on that, because I'm not sure you have the Creative Cloud applications.
    Those are my two cents.

  • Help needed using adobe exportpdf

The first time I used adobe export pdf it worked well. However the next time and every other time I try to convert a pdf doc to word docx I get the error message at the end of the uploading session. "pdf doc failed to export to m,icrosoft word.  There was an unexpected problem.
    Anyone overcome this problem?

    Hi Stacy
Thanks for that info.  I was aware of the 100MB limit but
your response made me think again and go back to the problem and this is
what I found. The first  pdf document I uploaded into Adobe export pdf was  43
MB and it went through fine. when I looked at the conversion to Word  docx I
found it had been transformed into 83MB.
So the conversion (which was a children's book with lots of images in it)
resulted in an increase of MBs by a factor of 1.7.
The second pdf document I uploaded was 64MB and this failed. If I apply the
1.7 factor then the Word docx I wanted was going to be 109MB and therefore
    over  the 100MB limit.
I didn't know that converting pdf to word would increase the MB like that.
Why, I don't know so thanks for your help I've learnt something new.
    Cheers
                Garth

  • Lost information using Adobe Reader App

I usually highlight text from a document or write comments using Adobe Reader App for iPad. But when it synchronizes with the Acrobat Website, my information gets lost... What's happening?

    cas ecowater,
We can examine your PDF forms and determine the cause of the problem.
Would you send the PDF forms as email attachments to [email protected]?  Please include the link to this forum post (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1634405) in your email message for reference.
    Thank you.

  • Fillable forms with radio buttons (Using Adobe Reader X)

I have two questions: First question, I have a fillable form with "yes" and "no" radio buttons. Currently the radio defaults to answer "yes", but I would like both the "yes" and "no" fields to be empty, which would allow the user to select an answer on his or her own.  Second question, is there a way to make an answer required before moving on to the next question?
    (Using Adobe Reader X)
    Message was edited by: mp2athome

You need to check and make sure that the options  for each radio button do not have the "Button is checked by default" selected.
You can make all the following answer radio buttons "read only" and only after one of the choices for the preceding question has been answered are the radio buttons for the next question are write enabled.
You will need Acrobat to create the form.

  • Can i create program, using Adobe Illustrator SDK, which would understand *.ai file format (cs versi

I need to write converter from cs ai files to my own format.
Can i use Adobe Illustrator SDK for creating such a program?
Is there in SDK libraries, which would be used for reading by program cs ai file format?
Must Adobe Illustrator be installed for such a program would work?

Well, if Idraw can do it you would need to figure out which format it likes (probably tiff would be my guess), save in that format and open the image there and proceed with however it works. The only useful advice I can offer is that jpg is a poor choice for any image that includes text. It will be fuzzy.

  • Mac OS X update (3/19/13) crashes my iMac.  After installing an automatic OS X update, every time I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 to print to my Epson R1800 printer (which worked perfectly just before the update), my entire system crashes.

On 3/19/13 I was printing photos on my Epson R1800 printer using Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 with no problems.  I got an automatic Apple OS X software update which I installed.  Ever since, when I try to print photos my iMac crashes.  How can I unistall the OS X update?

What you are experiencing is called a Kernel Panic and is NOT caused by the OS, they can be difficult to troubleshoot as they can be software or hardware relate. The X Labs writes and excellent article about them, in Kernel Panics. Please read it carefully. In order to troubleshoot your KP you need to post your last KP log, Apple provides instructions for doing so in How to log a kernel panic. Please follow the instructions in that article and post your complete KP report.
As mentioned previously it is NOT caused by OS X! There are common causes, including RAM issues, outdated applications, hard disks failing etc. By posting your KP log we can look at it and determine if it's software and if it is then point  you to what is causing the issue.

    Problem is:
Flash Player for IE11 (which is the worst browser ever developed - BAR NONE) is a Microsoft product, when it comes right down to it.
Adobe writes the base code and yes, they do collaborate on updates for it, but the gang in Redmond alter the plug-in and add "proprietary" code before embedding it, and at that point it's "their baby".
There are two (2) registry keys - 1 for 32 bit IE and the other for 64 bit IE, as well as a KB patch that prevent all but the most experienced Windows users from ever touching the Flash Player plug-in for IE. So there's NO WAY you could have done a clean install of the ActiveX plug-in in Windows 8. Unless you're an uber-geek, you can only update it through Windows Update.
WIn 8 is an abomination and IE11 made it worse. IE has always been the "problem child" of browsers, failing to handle CSS, Javascript, some PHP and most design "tweaks" that good webmasters can use with other browsers, trouble free.
I have IE8 on XP, 9 on VIsta, 11 on 7, 10 on 8 and 11 on 8.1... but they're all for testing only. I'd have to be out of my mind to ever think of using IE as my primary browser. ActiveX controls have to be disabled formost stuff and that opens millions of security holes in IE.
You've got a good video card and a decent sound card. It's a shame to waste them on a pile of garbage like IE, just because it came with Windows.
