Using aggregate functions in Oracle DBAdapter of Oracle BPEL

Hi All,
Need some info on the following:
1) Is it possible to configure a DBAdapter in line with a query like in Oracle BPEL 10.1.2
select * from emp where ROWNUM<500
The problem I am facing is that when in the process of configuring the DBAdapter , during building of the where clause I am restricted to select only the explicit feilds of EMP like first name and the last name .If this is the case then how do i select an implicit feild like ROWNUM .
It is possible to build a query like above, only if we can select ROWNUM as the first argument in the expression building wizard.
Please suggest various ways to handle the above.

i think it is possible to specify the sql explicitly, but don't know how at the moment. if you know toplink, you may be able to do this.

Using Aggregate function in queries

          Please take a look on this query and suggest me why i'm getting the error..
This is my simple query using aggregate function in it..
SELECT T1.NAME, T1.DESCRIPTION, SUM(T2.QUANTITY)

GROUP BY T1.NAME, T1.DESCRIPTION
Above query added with a sub-query in the select segment..

When i add a sub-query which has aggregate function in it, i'm getting the 'ORA-00979: not a GROUP BY expression' error.

What is your DB Version. Your query works without any issue in my DB. I used WITH clause to create the sample data. The query highlighted in BLUE is the actual query.

Facing problem while using aggregate functions.

I am trying to use aggregate functions such as sum, count in my CQL query.
It is not giving me an error but i am unable to get the correct output out of that.

The problem i am getting is when the value is getting compared with the opportunity cost rather than with the sum of oppCost
A as sum(A.opportunityCost)>1000
A as A.opportunityCost >1000
Both the cases are treated as same .

It would help if you could provide sample input data and associated output that illustrates the problem

Error in using aggregate function in Outer Query in Siebel Analytics

When I am using aggregate function in outer query in Siebel Analytics I am facing error.

Should your query be a valid SQL query?
I can't think that the query you have would be valid in a SQL plus window.

How to use Aggregate Functions during Top N analysis?

Say i want to find top 5 highest salaries and their totals and average. In that case how to use aggregate functions. Please give me an example on this.

Hi,
Yes, you can do that with aggregate functions.
First, do a sub-query to retrieve all the salaries (in descending order), then say "WHERE ROWNUM <= 5" in the main query. Use the aggregate SUM and AVG functions in the main query.
Analytic functions are easier to use for jobs like this, once you get familiar with them. If you're not leaving the field this month, then it's probably worthwhile for you to get familiar with analytic functions.

Problem while using aggregate functions in EJB QL 2.1

I am using aggregate function as follows
select max(c.id) from customer as c
for this iam selected check box EJB QL 2.1 in persistent.xml
this is validated by nwds, but while deploying server raising error like ejb ql syntax error.
Actually according to EJB QL 2.1 this is a valid query, what i need to do for run this same query .
Anybody please help me in this regard

Both two are not even validated,
but with the first one as select max(c.id) from customer as c , in this case it is validated but while deploying it is error as , object must be return
But when i saw the ejb2.1 specification we can write this type of queries also ?

How to use aggregate function with Date

Hi All,
I have a group of date from that is it possible to Max and Min of date.
I have tried like this but its errored out <?MIN (current-group()/CREATION_DATE)?>.
I have also tried like this but it doesnt works

Is it possible to use aggregate function with date values.

There are a lot of aggregate function inside the database, unfortunatelly some of them are not directly accesible from Oracle Discoverer.
For example :

What is the best way to incorporate this kind of function in Oracle Discoverer ?

Problem to Use C function in oracle

i m trying to use c funciton in oracle
as per oralce documentation its working fine when i used the demo example
but in demo example thr are only interger data type used
i need to use the char data type from c
and while calling that function in c when i tried to call char as parameters data type
its giving following error :

How to find exception occured while using LOGON function in oracle 10g

I am using LOGON function to login with a different user name in oracle 10g forms.
LOGON ( User, Pass@tns, FALSE)
The third parameter is passed as 'FALSE' to avoid the login screen to be opened. If any of the other parameter ( User Name, Password, TNS) is passed wrong, connection is not established but no exception is occurred. The value for 'FORM_FAILURE' is set to 'TRUE'.
What i need is the ORA error for connection failure. The error message related to user name/password (ORA-01017) or connection identifier (ORA-12155).
How i can get this error code if connection is failed. Is there any other way to login in oracle forms other than 'LOGON'.

If you pass FALSE in login you can't catch anything. Want to catch the error ?
Then change
LOGON ( User, Pass@tns, FALSE)
to
