Using ASSOCIATED on a function result

I'm having trouble using the ASSOCIATED intrinsic with the result of a function. It appears to work in Studio 12 but in 12.2 I get a segfault. The problem happens when the result of a function is set to null. It appears that the function result pointer somehow becomes undefined (but I'm not sure). For example the following sample program gives a segfault in Studio 12.2:

If however if first associate a new local variable with the function result (x=>getY(input)) I don't get a segfault when calling associated(x). Any ideas on why this happens or if I'm doing something wrong?

After modifying your code slightly so that it would compile, I was able to reproduce the problem using the Oracle Solaris Studio 12.2 release. When I compile the program with the beta compiler for release 12.3, it works correctly. The output is

I am not sure why your getting the wrong results but you should seriously reconsider the approach your are taking. Using functions like this is very ineffecient and should be avoided at all cost.

I have had this problem for a while since I did a previous Firefox update, where I had to force Gmail to load in Basic HTML else it's next to impossible to use it. You'll get this error if the difference between the start and end date is greater that about 68 years due to the "second" DATEDIFF specification. Perhaps the dates are greater than the expected range due to a data quality issue.
Taking the advice from the error message, you could use minutes instead of seconds like the example below the version below. This could still result in the error of the difference is greater than a couple of hundred years, though. You might consider
validating the dates and returning NULL if outside expected limits.

When "Use Google Instant", "Open search results in a new browser window." does not function.

In the "Google Search Setting", if select "Do not use Google Instant", then the selected search result of Google Search will be displayed in a new window, but if "Use Google Instant", the selected result will replace Google Search window. This problem does not exist when using Chrome Browser.

That does what it says - even if Google tells the browser to open the page in a new window, you have told Firefox to ignore that and open it in a new tab. Uncheck the box and you should get the result you want.

BW Application Error while using Web Application Designer Functionality?

An error came while using Web Aplication Designer functionality.
Can anyone please help me to resolve this issue.
X person Developed a web template, but when Y person attempted to broadcast the associated query result, an error message returned indicating access was denied: part of error message Form: PHIO_GET_CONTENT_ACCESS of program SAPLSDCI.

The last two days have been frustrating. The error above also appeared when I was trying to view one of the relationships in one of my entities.
What seems to have been happening is Designer showed a relationship existing after it had been deleted. This seems to be a bug in Designer. These rouge links can be deleted in the RON (although if you try to look at their details the RON will crash with the error in original query). After this cleanup everything worked like clockwork.

Every time I try to upload a video to youtube (or pictures to blog services like tumblr) using Firefox, I cannot upload them unless I use the "basic uploader" function. Why and what can be done?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Group by Lookup function result

I have a report that uses two datasets.
The first one looks like this. It's the time members have recorded under a particular job title:

I need to show the records which have JobTitle == null with a particular Job Title, the current one they have in Active Directory. So I use another dataset from a WCF service:
MemberId Name JobTitle
23179C0F Member1 JobTitle1
Then I use a lookup function to show the correct Job Title:

This works ok. The problem is that I need the data to be grouped by several fields, including the Job Title. It seems grouping happens before the lookup function is executed, so instead of grouping the NULL values along with the fields that contains the actual
values, I end up with two groups with the same Job Title, one containing the null values and another with the actual values.
Is there any workaround for this?

Per my understanding that you have add some row group in the report to group the result which include the JobTitle from the table1 and also group by the field which result comes from the lookup funtion, now the issue is the group by the Lookup function result

How to use HIERARCHY in OLAP_TABLE function

I am new to OLAP and I don't really know what is the exact syntax to look at this cube by using sql and OLAP_TABLE function.
I have defined a analytic workspace called 'MANUAL' by using Analytic Workspace Manager. Inside I have defined a simple dimension 'DIM_PERIOD'.
I have 4 levels ('YEAR', 'QUARTER','MONTH','YEAR_MONTH'), 1 hierarchy ('PERIOD') and 6 attributes ('YEAR','QUARTER','MONTH_CODE','MONTH_LONG','MONTH_SHORT',
'YEAR_MONTH'). Every attribute is linked to one level of the hierarchy..
I would like to build the correct sql statement to see all my dimension.
I have already build the following :

If I introduce 'WITH HIERARCHY PERIOD' I have an error saying PERIOD is not an object of Manual.

Note also the definition and the data of my dimension is good. I can see the correct contain by using Analytic Workspace Manager

The answer to your overall question is that you should use the familyrel keyword in your limitmap, once per level that you want represented as a column (or a single reference along with the USING clause). You would also need to reference these new columns in your ADT.
But before you start using familyrel, you'll need to discover why you can't specify a hierarchy. My guess is that period is not the name of the hierarchy in the Analytic Workspace. You can list all available hierarchies by using OLAP Worksheet (available in AWM) and typing "listnames relations aw period".
It is somewhat difficult to be more specific without more detailed knowledge of the underlying Analytic Workspace.

I127 equals a check box. The formula retuns a value of the current date and time when a check is placed in the box. How does one lock that date and time so that it cannot be changed?

I don't think it is possible to lock in the date and time using a formula. You could put NOW() in a cell, copy, and Edit Paste Formula Results where you want the result.
Or if you are "time stamping" a lot, you may find this Automator Service (Dropbox download) helpful. It puts a "Today" function (actually it should be named "Now" because it includes both date and time) in your Services menu like this:
Just doubleclick the .workflow package to install it. You may have to click "download anyway" in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.

By the way this is a part of my function.
The "othersGenerics" is my associative array variable and <???XXX???> is the place where I need to use my "othersGenerics" array to check. So far I've tried

Your type will have to be created as an independent object in your schema. So CREATE TYPE cannot be in your function declaration, it has to be outside it. (And then the line inside your declaration that defines the type will have to be removed.)
But now I can see that you use this array as a kind of "temporary lookup table" - you populate the array and then use it for lookup in your select statement. An alternative way of doing this could be like this completely without arrays:

...The with clause (subquery factoring) you can think of as a kind of temp table called othergenerics created "on-the-fly".
The optimizer may decide to actually create a temp table for you and use in the lookup, or it may decide to rewrite the query into suitable joins or nested loops or hashing - whatever the optimizer decides will be the optimal way of doing things :-)
So unless you use your array other places in your function, I would recommend dropping the array completely, skip populating an array, and instead use a with clause for your temporary lookup.

Refering alias of a function result in an sql statement

Dear Sir,
How to refer an alias of a function result in sql statement?
eg.(new_name is the alias)
select myfunction(name) new_name
from mytable
where new_name = '#vincent#';
I can't refer new_name in the above statement coz it gives an error "invalid column name".
But I don't want to put the myfunction(name) again in the where clause which will double the job. So, how should I refer to it?
Please advise.

You can not refer to the alias like you are talking. You will have to use myfunction(name) as you have said. Or you can try creating a view with query:
select myfunction(name) new_name
from mytable
and then refer to "new_name".

What is the difference this 2 sample pictures? Use IMAQ Detect Circles function to detect the GREEN button.

Hi All,
Please refer to the attached 2 pictures, they are the similar, just the size is defferent. (pass.PNG, 5478 pass.PNG).
But now i try to use IMAQ Detect Circles to catch the GREEN button. For pass.PNG, it works fine, but for another sample, it is always fail to detect this button.
I also try to change the Curve Parameters and score as input, but still failed. Another way, i also try to use IMAQ find circles function, but the result is worse than IMAQ Detect Circles, so give up.
The code is detect the circles.png, copy it to block diagram enough.
So, what is the root cause? Thanks for help.

The curve extraction mode if change it to Uniform mode, u can get the result.
-Suggestion, if you want to use the entire image region as ROI no need to get the image size, getting rectangle and converting it to ROI descriptor. (I think this is unnecessary)
-Be careful with color plane extraction, u're using by default which is Red plane. In this example it's fine. but make sure u know which plane u're extracting.
-please find vi saved in 2010 version.

DB buffer cache vs. SQL query & PL/SQL function result cache

Hi all,
Started preparing for OCA cert. just myself using McGraw Hill's exam guide. Have a question about memory structures.
Actually, DB buffer cache is used to copy e.g. SELECT queries result data blocks, that can be reused by another session (server process).
There is also additional otion - SQL query & PL/SQL function result cache (from 11g), where also stored the results of such queries.
Do they do the same thing or nevertheless there is some difference, different purpose?

Can I use collections to hold the function results (say three function out variables) while they are being looped through in the procedure? If I can do that I am presuming I use the functions name in the collection such as:
