Using CLI to enter Mac local list on 1200 Series

I have a number of 1200 series Ap's that are set up for MAC Authentication based on a local list only. From the GUI these addresses are entered from the Advanced Security Screen.
I wnt to find a method for entering them from the CLI but am running into a problem with the level 7 passwords that seem to be automaticly applied when the MAC addresses are added from the GUI.
If I enter MAC 0011.22aa.33ff from the GUI and then look at the config from the CLI it looks like this:
username xxx password xxxx
username xxxx autocommand exit
how do I do this from the CLI?

Hi,
I think if you need to enter lots of MAC Addresses into AP, the fastest way is to use CLI.
Refer to the following doc on how to configure MAC from CLI. Look under "Local Authenticator Access Point - Step 11"
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a0080341e72.html#wp1039558
If authentication is purely done via MAC, then you can do like the following example:
AP#config t
AP(config-radsrv)# user xxx password xxx group clerks mac-auth-only
Probably you need to use notepad to list all MAC (as username & password), then copy &paste to your AP's CLI.
Hope this helps.

AK

Not sure which driver you mean when you say "the driver in the Mac's list". Apple does not provide a driver for this device, so if you mean one of the default printers that are included with 10.6, like the Generic Postscript or Generic PCL, then these will only work if the optional PS or PCL print kits were installed in the machine. Given your inability to print then it would seem that you have neither kit installed. So this would require you to install the Canon UFR2 driver, which you can obtain via this link.
With the UFR2 driver installed, you add the printer using IP > LPD. Enter the IP address of the iRC2380, leave the Queue name blank and change the Name to iRC2380. Leave the Location field blank and in the Print Using menu, browse to the "Canon iR C2380/2550 UFR II (UK)". Click OK and then Add to complete the queue creation. You should now be able to print. Please reply if it does not work.

  • When using Back to my Mac can I use a local printer to print from the remote Mac?

When using Back to my Mac to access an iMac from a MacBookPro all with the latest OS updates may I use a local printer connected to the MacBook to print a document located on the iMac?  If so, how?  It looks like if I try to print it will all happen on the iMac.  Thanks.

I appreciate that, but it will still list the printer in your local location if things are set up properly and if it is you can print, if it isn't you can't, but you should be able to print it as a pdf, transfer the file to your local computer and print it from their.

  • How to connect Oracle database using C/C++ on Mac OS X PPC G4, XCode 2.4.1?

    Hi All,
How to connect the Oracle database using C/C++ on Mac OS X? I have used Instant Client library "instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3" provided by the Oracle but could not be success. I'm using PowerPC G4, Mac OS X 10.4.9, and XCode version 2.4.1.
Specially Mr Oscar Armanini has done this in C on Mac OS X. Please let me know. I would be very thankful to you.

How to Install, Configure and Test Oracle 10g Instant Client Basic,

The first Metalink Note uses an OCI examples and it is pasted here below,
in case you don't have a Metalink ID.
The second Metalink Note uses an OCCI example.
I have never used Instant Client (neither on Os X or on other platform),
but I was successful on compiling C programs (no GUI involved) using the
Full Client installed on my PowerBook G4.
I'm a DBA, but I was a developer years ago (about when Oracle 7.3
was considered a giant step forward): I installed the Oracle 10.1 db
(a complicated job for a developer) and I got the Full Client
installed as well, for free, so I was happy to compile one of the demo C sources
(those that you can find in the Oracle Pro*C manuals:
by the way, Oracle Pro*C manuals are really worth reading).
    Good luck

This article will show you how to install and configure your 10g Instant Client (IC) Software for the Mac.
It will install the following packages:
    the Basic package
    the SQL*Plus package and
    the SDK package
and then test its connectivity to an Oracle database using SQL*Plus.
It will also show you how to setup and test a sample program, cdemo81.c, that uses the Oracle Call Interface (OCI)
    to connect to the database.
The sample program is located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo directory.
Solution1. Download the following three (3) files from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) website.
You will need an account to do this.
Macintosh OS X 10g Instant Client Software
    a. instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (32,395,622 bytes)
    b. instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (326,740 bytes)
    c. instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip (293,913 bytes)
NOTE: The above three (3) files will be updated as new patches are released for the 10g Instant Client software. 10.1.0.3 or later versions (10.1.0.x) of these files may be used similarly with this article.
    2. Save the following text into a file called tnsnames.ora:

    # DESCRIPTION
    # ===========
    # This script will build and run the OCI sample application CDEMO81.C inside
    # your Instant Client (IC) software located under the <IC>/sdk/demo folder.
    # NOTE: In order for this script to run successfully
    # (A) you MUST have already run the script SETUP1 successfully
    # and
    # (B) you MUST perform any necessary actions required under the SETUP
    # section below.
    # SETUP
    # =====
    # (1) You need to edit the CDEMO81.C application PRIOR to running this script to
    # change the connection information. By default, the application will attempt
    # to connect as user SCOTT with password TIGER to a local Oracle database using
    # the BEQ-LOCAL network protocol. This will not work.
    # (A) You need to make sure you have the SCOTT/TIGER schema created in your database.
    # If not, have your DBA create it by running the script "SCOTT.SQL" from your
    # <ORACLE_HOME>/rdbms/admin folder.
    # (B) You need to modify the CDEMO81.C application to connect to the database
    # you have configured inside your TNSNAMES.ORA file.
    # (i) Open the CDEMO81.C file located under the <IC>/sdk/demo folder.
    # (ii) Find the following line of code:
    # (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
    # and change the two empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you are using like so
    # (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
    # (iii) Save the file.
    # (2) You MUST be in the initial directory where you copied all of the files listed
    # in script SETUP1. In this same location you will find SETUP2. Run SETUP2 from
    # this location.
    # (3) To run this script use the command: ". setup2"

    6. Take all seven (7) files and move them into the same directory on your OS where you want to install the Instant Client software from:
    1 - instantclient-basic-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
    2 - instantclient-sqlplus-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
    3 - instantclient-sdk-macosx-10.1.0.3.zip
    4 - tnsnames.ora
    5 - sqlplus_script.sql
    6 - setup1
    7 - setup2
    7. Open the file tnsnames.ora. Be sure to review the comments in this file. You will have to change the following information to connect to a database on your network:
    SERVICE NAME (orcl or orcl.us.oracle.com)
    HOST (database_machine.us.oracle.com)
    PORT (1521)
    SID (orcl)
    Save the file.
    8. Open the file setup1, go to the end of this script and modify the following line:
    ./instantclient10_1/sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl @sqlplus_script.sql
Replace orcl with the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above. Save the file.
    9. You are now ready to install the 10g Instant Client software for Mac OS X. From the location where your seven (7) files reside, issue the following command:
    [macosx]/oracle> . setup1
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup1" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This will install the Instant Client Basic and SQL*Plus software and connect to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.
    10. Here is the sample output of a successful execution of the setup1 script:
    [macosx]/oracle> . setup1
    MAC OS X INSTANT CLIENT 10g SCRIPT - SETUP1
    TNSNAMES.ORA FILE
    # If you receive an
    # ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    # error when running the setup script and attempting to connect to Oracle
    # from SQL*Plus then the name of your SERVICE NAME (i.e. ORCL) may require
    # that you include the DOMAIN (i.e. US.ORACLE.COM) in order to connect successfully.
    # To obtain the DOMAIN of your environment, type "hostname" from your shell
    # and it should report this information back to you. Configure your SERVICE
    # NAME to look like Example 2.

    [macosx]/oracle>
    11. Once you have obtained a successful execution of the setup1 script, you are ready to configure cdemo81.c to connect to the database you have configured inside your tnsnames.ora file.
Open the cdemo81.c file located under the <Instant_Client>/sdk/demo folder. Find the following line of code:
    (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"", strlen(""), 0);
Change the two (2) empty strings to the SERVICE NAME you used in Step 7 above.
    (void) OCIServerAttach( srvhp, errhp, (text *)"ORCL", strlen("ORCL"), 0);
    Save the file.
    12. You are now ready to run cdemo81.c. You MUST issue the following command from the initial directory where you copied all of the files in Step 6:
    [macosx]/oracle> . setup2
NOTE: Be sure to include the period "." and a space " " before the word "setup2" so all environment variables persist for the current session.
This script will configure your environment, build and run the OCI sample code connecting to the database specified in the tnsnames.ora file.
    13. Here is the sample output of a successful execution of the setup2 script:
    [macosx]/oracle> . setup2

  • Sjsws7 log rotation policy using CLI

Is it possible to set the log rotation policy using CLI.
We want to script the process of log rotation using CLI instead of configuring it from the console.

Thanks for you interest in Web Server 7.
Yes, Web Server 7 has a rich CLI and
Log rotation like most administration tasks is configurable using the CLI.
To schedule log rotation you need a create an "event" . The event as can be seen from the usage could be restart/reconfig/rotate-log/rotate-access-log etc.
    wadm> create-event
    Usage: create-event [--echo] [--no-prompt] [--verbose] [--no-enabled] config=name command=restart|reconfig|rotate-log|rotate-access-log|update-crl|commandline ( (--time=hh:mm [--month=1-12] [--day-of-week=sun/mon/tue/wed/thu/fri/sat] [--day-of-month=1-31]) | --interval=60-86400(seconds) )
CLI014 config is a required option.
I will walk thru the steps in the CLI starting from scratch..
    1. Create a config.
    2. Create an event
    3. Create an instance of the config
    4. Start the instance
    5. Deploy the config ( This is a workaround. You should not have to to do this in the upcoming Technology Preview Release 3).
That's it.. The log should be rotated as per the parameters specified when you create the event.
I am pasting below the actual result of following the above steps.
In the example below the event scheduled is a rotate-log event. rotate-log rotates the error log. If you need to rotate the access logs use rotate-access-log instead.
    bash-3.00# ./wadm user admin port 18911

In this example we have configures the log to be rotated at 09:55 am and as can be seen this has been done.

  • Move a mac access-list

Ok we have a mac-access list that is set and we want it only set on a specific ssid but it does not seem to be working that way and is hitting both ssid's.  The issue appears to be with this line as it is not defined to the ssid nor any interface for that ssid:

I just can't figure out where to move it and how.  Any help would be great.

  • Using Aperture with multiple Macs

    Hi, all -
I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to share and manage a common photo library across different Macs. I'm about to buy a 2nd Mac (my wife and I will each have our own) and I'm curious how to best share the photo library between our two computers. Assume that the photos will be stored on a common server that is accessible to both. I'd like to use iPhoto on one Mac and Aperture on the other, but I haven't come up with a good way to make each application "aware" when I upload new pics to the server.
What are other people doing to have a common photo library?
What I'm currently doing is importing files from the camera to my local computer, moving files to the server, and then using EXIFtool to rename files by date/time they were taken and sorting into a directory structure based on YYYY/MM/DD. The main photo directory on the server is then shared with the other computers.

I have two Mac's. Both happen to be MacBook Pros. One is the older 2.4 the other is the newer 2.66 (June 2009). I have always kept my Aperture Libraries on external hard drives. Currently I am Using Lacie 320 GB Firewire 800/400. However I am looking at getting the new Lacie eSATA 500 GB.
Now all I have to do is plug in to either system I am using and open the Library. I have another one I use for the Vault for backing up.

  • In the Calendar there used to be the daily activities listed at the bottom of the page when you had the monthly view on it

In the Calendar there used to be the daily activities listed at the bottom of the page when you had the monthly view on it.
For example you could see the whole month, the day you select was highlighted and at the bottom of the page listed any activities.
Now this does not happen. Am I missing something?
The Calender seems to have gone backwards!!!
    HELP!!!
    PLEASE!!!!

Ditto!  I have always preferred the month as the default view and the list at the page bottom let me know what I need to pay attention to for today (or tomorrow, or any future date).  Having to scoll through every hour of the day to find items that may or not be there is a huge waste of time!
I hate this calendar!!!!  I've been okay with other changes in ios7 but they need to make changes.  How about letting us configure our own calendar views?  Choose "home" page look by month or week, itemize daily view by hour or by items entered, etc.

  • Partitioning my External Hard Drive Using Disk Utility in Mac?

I have a 1 TB external hard drive which I've been using for a year now. It already has 200 GB used space, having approximately 100 GB of movies. Since the format of the single partition it has is MS-DOS FAT32 (so that it can be used on my Mac, Windows and PS3), I can only store files not bigger than 4 GB. Some of the HD movies I have range from 6-8 GB and I can't transfer them to the hard drive and they're occupying so much space on my laptop. Now, I wanna know if I can split the hard drive into 2 or 3 partitions (please recommend whether to use Mac OS Extended (Journaled), ExFAT or both) without having to undergo the process of backing up my 200 GB worth of files onto another hard drive; it's too tedious. Is there a way for me to directly convert some space of my single partition into a different partition with a different format while the hard drive still contains my old files? Thanks!

You can add a partition to the drive. In Disk Utility select the drive and then select the Partition Tab. The current partition layout is shown.
Grab the resize handle in the lower righthand corner of the partition display and drag it the size you want. Click in the new empty gray area and click the + sign, the new partition will be displayed. Enter the information for the partition, name and format and apply.
As for the format you should use it depends on how you will use the partition. If you will only be using it with the Mac then OS Extended (Journaled) is the way to go.
While this procedure is safe for the data on the disk as always whenever doing any system work like this a good working backup is highly recommended. And if you get to a point where you are not sure of what you are doing you can select revert to restore the settings as they are now, at anytime before you hot apply.
    good luck

  • Can't use Back to my Mac on OS X Lion

    Hi,
I have upgraded both my MacBook Pro and iMac 27" to OS X Lion, and set up everything as suggested for the iCloud, but I still can't use Back to my Mac function.  In fact, on the macbook pro, I can't even see the shared sidebar (after trying several suggestions from the communities from 2008).  And on the iMac, I can see the shared sidebar, but there is no option for Back to my Mac.  I sware I've ticked Back to my Mac on the Finder's preferences, and everything apparent from the iCloud.
It'd be great if someone can point me to the right direction.  Thanks!
    Cheers,

    Carolyn,
After clicking your link, I think the solution described therein may work -- however, I brought my MBP to the Genius Bar and gave it to them the next 24-48 hours so they could run diagnostic tests, so I am not able to experiment with your solution.  I will say this, though: while I was still trying to fix it myself, I DID get the "Allow me to use my Apple ID to reset my account password" checkbox, which I checked, and on the next screen where it lists my various User Accounts (mine, and Guest), I clicked on mine, typed the password (and every conceivable other password I could possibly think of), but nothing worked.  Then, when it gave me my security question and gave me a link to "Reset my password," no other window popped up to allow me to perform the reset.
All in all, I'm fairly convinced this is a hardware issue, not a software issue.  My system recognizes my HD sometimes, but not others. Perhaps there is something wrong with the cable connecting the HD to the logic board.

  • RV325 DHCP static address list and duplicates in unknown IP & MAC Binding List Table

DHCP Manual Bindings are entered and are displayed correctly in the IP & MAC Binding Table.
The error is that there are duplications of the IP address in the Unknown MAC Address List and hitting the Refresh button does nothing.
These duplicates remain in the Unknown table forever. Only a reboot of the router really refreshes the Unknown table.
    Any suggestion?

    The problem has been solved.
All the settings are apparently stored in the open directory database.  I had to enable system records and viola there was the extra entry complete with MAC address and IP address.

  • Can i use a 60 watts  mac charger for an i.book G4

    can i use a 60 watts mac charger for an i.book G4

I use a 65 watt for both a G4 iBook and a G4 Powerbook. The 60 watt would just be a little slower. I assume it is not an Apple charger as a 60 watt  is not listed in the linked article.

  • Some configurations such as a software or hardware RAID do not support a recovery partition and can't be used with Find My Mac.

I'm getting the following error message when attempting to invoke "Find My Mac"
Some configurations such as a software or hardware RAID do not support a recovery partition and can't be used with Find My Mac.

You have no recovery partition. This is a normal condition if your boot volume is a software RAID, or if you modified the partition table after running Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition. Otherwise, you need to reinstall OS X in order to add a recovery partition.
If you don't have a current backup, you need to back up before you do anything else.
You have several options for reinstalling.
    1. If you have access to a local, unencrypted Time Machine backup volume, and if that volume has a backup of a Mac (not necessarily this one) that was running the same major version of OS X and did have a Recovery partition, then you can boot from the Time Machine volume into Recovery by holding down the option key at the startup chime. Encrypted Time Machine volumes are not bootable, nor are network backups.
    2. If your Mac shipped with OS X 10.7 or later preinstalled, or if it's one of the computers that can be upgraded to use OS X Internet Recovery, you may be able to netboot from an Apple server by holding down the key combination option-R  at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with proxy servers, or with networks that require a certificate for authentication.
    3. Use Recovery Disk Assistant (RDA) on another Mac running the same major version of OS X as yours to create a bootable USB device. Boot your Mac from the device by holding down the option key at startup.Warning: All existing data on the USB device will be erased when you use RDA.
Once you've booted into Recovery, the OS X Utilities screen will appear. Follow the prompts to reinstall OS X. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
If none of the above choices is open to you, then you'll have to start over from an OS X 10.6.8 installation. There's no need to overwrite your existing boot volume; you can use an external drive. Install 10.6 from the DVD you originally used to upgrade, or that came with the machine. Run Software Update and install all available updates. Log into the App Store with the Apple ID you used to buy 10.7 or later, and download the installer. When you run it, be sure to choose the right drive to install on.
