Using Combo Box in Web Report 6.0

Has anyone had success using a combo box on the parameter form in
a Reports 6.0 web report? I can successfully use a list of
values, but this requires that the user must select an entry.
Some parameters may be null. Current environment is NT4 SP4,
OAS4.07, Oracle Developer Server 6.0.

Hello,
You need to create a client-side PL/SQL package as Program Units for your report. In this package you can define a package variable to hold and share your file handle, and create functions to open, write, and close the file. You can call these functions from the Before Report, Formula, and After Report triggers in your report.

  • Radio Button and combo box in Pdf Report.

    Hi,
    I have to make a PDF report with text box,radio buttons and combo boxes.
    The data in the text box will populate from the data base table.
    Similarly the radion button will enable the particular radio button from  a set of available radion buttons as per the value from the database.
    Same with combo boxes.
    The report putput should come in PDF.

    The report sud be pdf output with details like name of person showing in textbox ,then there will be list of radio buttons out of which particular radio button will be checked  as per the option for that particular person in the database.same with combox with for example A,B,C option from the look up is coming but it will be showing the option as per the name of person.We can take the name of person as the primary key.
    The Problem with input controls is that they can be used to filter the report as radio buttons and combo box but they can't be sown in the report itself.

  • Using Combo box at the backend

    Hi,
    I am using combo box at the backend to filter rows to a particular destination.
    The problem is the labels are going to populate at the runtime and the selection of item in combo box is also going to populate at the run time. I have an icon which inserts eg: country in a cell, then this cells is used by combo box as a item selection(label) to filter rows from source. But unfortunately the comb box is not selecting any value i.e no item is selected dynamically. But if i manually drill down it is working but the label is not changing dynamically based on the changes in label by icon.
    For eg my data:
    Country and profit populate at run time
    Country          Profit
    India               5000
    Germany        4000
    Now i have icon which selects country (hard coded in excel) upon clicking the mouse on it and inserts in A1 suppose the value hardcoded is "India". Now this A1 is used as a "selected item" for combo box. the source to combo box is the above country and profit which populates at run time.
    Now when i execute the dashboard. The value is inserted in A1 after clicking the icon but it is not picked up by combo box as "item selected" and hence combo box does not filter any data.
    Can any pls help.

    The said functionality should work. Please check your logic one more time. Also, try using some spreadsheet components mapped to the cells in question and understand how the data is flowing during run-time. This will help you test things. Delete spreadsheets when you are done with identifying the issue.
    Lets check the combo box mapping one more time : Map the source of the combo to the entire range; labels in the combo box ONLY to the country column in the source range(typically this may be the left most column in the range); selected item should be mapped to the cell that has the destination for the icon and the type for default selection may be dynamic. Well, if there is any hard-coding of values involved anywhere, do check the spellings and other trivial things.

    In Reporting Services, if we want to pass a combo box parameter (means signal-parameter) from one report (main report) to another report (subreport), we can enable an action with “Go to report” or “Go to URL” option to achieve the requirement. For more details,
    please see:
    Method1: Go to report
    Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in subreport, click Action in the left pane.
    Enable Go to report action, then select the main report name in the drop-down list.
    Add a parameter as below:
    Select ID (a parameter name from main report) in the drop-down list of Name, and select [ID] (a field name from subreport) in the drop-down list of Value.
    Method2: Go to URL
    Right-click a report item to open the properties dialog in subreport, click Action in the left pane.
    Enable Go to URL action, the URL below is for your reference:

  • Locating on a location on GMap using combo box using SDK

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to locate a city on google map using combo box. I want name of cities to appear in combo box and on selecting a city, map should be able to locate that city. This combo box will be visible on map itself. Combo box can be a component of either Xcelsius or Flex Builder.
    I think combo box dragged from Xcelsius component panel not able to communicate with google map which is embedded in form of swf through manage and packager.
    So, I tried with Flex Builder combo box component, but not able to done it. I am not getting the flow how to communicate between combo box and google map.
    I can locate a particular city giving a latitude and longitude through propertysheet.
    Please, if anyone could help me out asap.

  • Poor performance when using drop down box on web report

    We are using dropdown box functionality in web reporting to allow easy selection of characteristics values. We have 4 dropdown boxes
    that represents Region, Area, Country and division.
    We need to use booked_values = 'Q' to show only relevant values for selection in the dropdown. However the issue is takes a long time for results to appear
    on the template. Read from Fact table is quick but process of deriving drop down values is very slow.

    1) If the values in the drop down box....are NOT dependent on user selection...then webserver can send them along with the first page....and cache them on client m/c...for multiple client/server dialogs....
    2) If the values are changing based on what the user selected from a previous input......then...you need to do some research on how SAP Webserver could optimize the "network traffic"......For example: a) Apache webserver has a module that compresses the content on the webserver side and then send to the client...b)A Client browser plugin decompresses the received packet and displays appropriately....
    3) We may need to research the latest SAP webserver capabilities....

  • Report error when using combo box and one text field is empty

    I'm building an interactive pdf in adobe pro 9. My problem is the following: I have one text field where you can enter a numeric code and that is used to populate another text field when I choose an option on one combo box.For example: suppose I write the code 123 in the text field "A" and that the combo box has two options ("data" and "-"). When I select "-", another text field "B" is empty, while when I select "data" i populate the text field "B" using the code entered "A" with the text "data_123". In order to do this I use the standard javascript code in the Format>Custom tab of the combo-box.
    My questions are:
    - how can I prevent the pdf to proceed selecting an option in the combo box when the field "A" is empty?
    - how can I update the field "B" every time that I change the text in "A"? I found that the text is "B" is updated only when I press the selection in the combo box.

    You can set the combo box to read-only in the Validate event of the A field:

  • Use Combo Boxes and Datepart "m" and "y" to filter forms and reports

    I am trying to build a Form to filter through Sales Order Records going back up to four years to find purchasing patterns of  customers and to find more potential sales.  I am using a simple main form, with 2 subforms joined on the Sales Representative
    [accntrep], one which show current orders for a given month and the other orders from past months and years.  I've got 3 combo boxes, 1 to select sales representative, 1 to select a month using date part and 1 to select a month.  This would be very
    flexible in easily searching any month in any year of the recordset.  I know I will be using something like "DatePart("m",[Date])=2 And Year([Date])=Year(Date())-4" (Feb 2011) to filter my records, but I am having troubling writing
    the procedure just right.  I am using 2-column combo boxes 1 column for text i.e (April, May, June etc.) and a second for the Date Part Expression.  I think I need to concatenate the values into the filter, but I cannot come up with exactly how to
    get this done.  Any ideas??

    If there is any doubt in your mind then I  will suggest a sanity debug trick; temporarily add 2 textboxes
    in T1 put its control source: =ComboBoxNameMonth
    in T2 put its control source: =ComboBoxNameYear
    don't put what I typed - put in their actual control names for those 2 comboboxes
    this way you can see what is actually the value of those combo boxes... depending on what they are bound to - those values may not be what you are expecting them to be.....obviously alter the properties of the comboboxes until they have the values they should
    Am a little unclear on filtering your records in regard to how the data is not structured whether for example: Nov 2015 is in 2 separate fields or a single field like 11/2015 or what - not sure it is a true date field or possibly a text field...so
    the next part of this depends on the data structure.

  • Adds entity value with which report was saved to all Combo Box in th report

    We have 5 combo box related to Entity dimension in one of the WA 11.1.2 reports which we migrated from 7. The different combo boxes had different entity member selection and lists their children.
    The issue here is when we change the entity to one particular value in one of the combo boxes and save the report in studio, close and re-open, the report opens with the entity value with which it was saved in that combo box, also additionally it puts this entity value in other combo boxes also along with their existing values.
    We want the other combo boxes to retain only their value which was existing. Can anybody help with this.

    Hi,
    I believe- This happens because- You might be re-using the same DataSource, ReportDataSrc1* that you created for the very first object +(Spreadsheet/combo/...whatever)+ on the Web Analysis report that you're referring to.
    I'm surprised why you've 5 different combo boxes for the same dimension on a single report. If they're analyzed compartmentally, creating multiple DataSources is a way out.

    1. In Universe Take Storename, city, State, region, Country objects
    2. Double click on Storename, go to properties tab and click on edit button. Query panel will open.
    3. Double click on city and click on sort button, double click on state and sort it, double click on region and sort it, double click on Country and sort it.
    4. If you want to keep any condition like particular country, you can drag country object in to the Conditions pane.  If not leave it empty.
    5.Click on Save and close button. Save the universe and export it.
    6. In webI drag and drop the Storename object and click on 'Add Quick Filter' button.  Now all the columns you included in the list of values appear in the Add Quick Filter dialog box.
    Now You can select the values from here and run the query.  you will get the result.
    One more way is there using cascading LOVs
    1. Go to Tools menu > List of values > Create Cascading list of values.
    2. Double click on Country, Region, State, City and Storename.  Close it.
    3. Save and export the universe.
    4. In webi drag and drop the objects in result objects pane, apply query filter and run the query.
    Now you will get the result.

    Hello all-
       We are on SCOM 2012 SP1.  I just have a general question about reporting.  I know there is a "Reporting" tab in the real, locally installed, SCOM Operations Console software.  That part I get.  I see that there
    are many pre-made reports the for me to run.  For example under Microsoft Server 2008 Operating System (Monitoring) folder there is a
    Performance History report.  When I double click on it, it takes me to the report window where I can click
    Add Object and add a server and then click
    Run.  
    This is pretty simple in concept.   BUT very few people at my company have the full Operations Console installed on their machine.  And as I'm sure you know, the SCOM Web Console does not have a Reporting Tab.  So they have to use the
    SCOM Reporting website to run such reports.  I found that you can get to this page at the url:
    http://<reporting server>/Reports                       
    This does bring up the Reporting console.  On the list I do see a Report.Windows.Server.2008.PerformanceHistory listed. So this surely seems to be the equivalent from my screenshot above.   However, it's not even close to user friendly like
    the Reporting area in the SCOM operations console software. There's multiple fields at the top. All of which are required, and almost none of which have dropbox or other ways to help you fill them in. I have no idea what to put into these boxes or the format
    to use.
    What am I missing here?  Is there a more user friendly interface anywhere?  In an ideal world, I'd really love to have a user interface where I can post the links to a few popular reports, like CPU and Disk Space for example.  Then ideally
    all the user would have to do is select their servers and the time frame and that's all.   Which really is what you do in the Operations Console software.   So isn't is it that easy in the web reporting tool?  Is there a guide or how-to
    section somewhere I'm missing?  Or just a more friendly looking way to get at this information?

    Well, my first screen shot above is squished, so you really can't see it.  But what I'm saying is that the same report in the SCOM software has the level of configuration I want on it.   It allows you to pick the date range and add objects
    to it, then you can click on Run.     However when I access the same report on the reporting console, it has all these extra fields.  None of which I know how to fill in properly.
    I would ultimately like my customers to be able to do exactly that in the web version.  Pick their server and their date range and run it.   There are not likely going to be too many reports like you're mentioning which I can completely configure
    before hand, so they just click on the link to have it run.  Most times I'd like my users to at least be able to select a server name.
    Any idea how I would simplify the web version of the report?  Or why they look so very different?

    Hello Muralidhar Reddy,
    The exact tool for your requirement is SAP BO Dashboard or SAP BO Design studio. WebI is a tool for ad-hoc reporting tool and we have limited functionalities to make dashboards using webI. You can have all those chart options in WebI and you can use Input controls or drill filters for restricting data. But you cannot have these selection components in reporting area. Tabs as shown in above post, you can have in bottom of the report.

  • Combo boxes on web forms

    I'm currently converting a forms v4.5 application onto 9iAS with web forms. I'm have major problems with my user community as combo boxes are no longer supported under web forms and they use them extensively.
    To try and overcome the problem I have converted the combo box into a 'TEXT_ITEM' and set up a LOV called from a button. This works for inserting new records, but when they query back existing records no data is displayed in the text_item boxes.
    Does anybody know how I get the LOV to fire JUST to display back existing single row data.

    combobox is available on webform, but it did not deliver what a standard combobox supposes to offer.
    e.g., 1) it can display one column and return one valure;
    for emp table, there are ename and empno:
    ename empno

    Then I have to use LOV to display these records of different persons and same name. If you try MS OFFICE, with ACCESS, you will see how nice the combox it is. Of course they are industry GUI standard, forms cannot do it, it is normal.
    2) it does not support partial search as seen on MS Access application

    What is expecting is that if user types in 'D', then the first records should automatically populate into the box's text field; if types in 'B', then the shortened list with the two records beginning with 'B' should be displayed for user to pick.
    This can be seen on MS ACCESS, but not on webforms.
    When we say combobox is available, it is not accurate enough to define the 'availability' of it.
