Using css into javascript preloader

i need a code in javascript that loads an image and gives it a css style, so i wrote this code:
function resizeGame() {
     var imageObj = new Image();
     imageObj.onload = function () {
          var sty3 = "content:url(1.jpg); width:100%; position:relative; z-index:-100;"
          var obj2 = document.getElementById("sfondo");
          obj2.setAttribute("style", sty3);
imageObj.src = '1.jpg';
The code works, but i want to know if it really preloads my image correctly, i'm not so sure... thaks a lot

  • Using CSS and Javascript to display a div with flash in it, mozilla reloads the flash file!

    I am using CSS and Javascript to display a div with an
    embedded flash object in it. Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash file
    when the div is displayed! (I dont want this to happen, as it's
    unexpected functionality, my expectation would be that the flash

    whatever state it was left in.)
    I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and is
    there something I can do to prevent this from occurring?
    To be more specific, I have a single HTML page with 8 flash
    files embedded in it (yeah I know, it's a bit much). I am then
    using CSS and Javascript to display (via a numbered link (with an
    id)) an equivalent numbered div tag containing the flash file.
    Mozilla Firefox reloads the flash object that is in the div.
    Internet Explorer will not do this and will instead, load the flash
    object only upon initial view of the flash object. All subsequent
    links (in IE) will NOT reload the flash object on the page. I'm
    guessing this is some kind of difference in the flash player as an
    Active X object and the plugin, or is it just IE being clever? Or
    am I way off?

  • Organising text into columns using CSS?

    Hello again guys,
    Another day another problem.
    This community has been really friendly and helpful so far with what I'm sure must appear to many of you to be really simply problems, so I'm hoping that you can bear with me and help me out again!
    Basically, I'm designing my page using CSS, and I've come to a part where I would like to have 3 columns of text, of a fixed width, with a fixed gap in between. Using my very limited knowledge and experience, I inputted the code that I thought would work, but whenever I go to enter more text, it doesn't jump to a new line when it reaches the maximum width of the column, it carries on on the same line and pushes the rest of the text across.
    How do I sort this out?
    I can't actually upload my site until Monday, but I've included some screen below which I hope will help.
    Thanks again guys.
    Text in columns:
    http://i51.tinypic.com/2s9vyhg.png
    When I type some more, it doesn't stay in the column width:
    http://i55.tinypic.com/dlno7b.png
    The code that I thought would work:
    http://i54.tinypic.com/yjoed.png
    http://i56.tinypic.com/2dax46c.png

    Hi Murray,
    Apologies. I had made a mistake. I've got it working now. Thank you.
    Another tiny thing, if you check out this screen:
    http://i54.tinypic.com/elcep.png
    you can see that the line starts right near the top, and goes all the way down to the bottom.
    Is there some way to amend the code that you gave me to adjust the height of the line? I tried adjusting the size of the image but that didn't seem to have an effect?
    Ideally, I would like to line at the top of the 'T' of 'This is a news story', and finish at the bottom of the 'M' of 'More'. That height.
    Something else which has confused me. I have that 'More' link aligned to the right, and in my design view in DW it is so aligned, but then when I preview the page, it jumps to the left hand side of each column. The alignment seems to disappear when the page is 'live'?
    Thanks again for all of your help. You really are a star!

    I see an pdf and flv file in the image list, remove them.
    Rewrite the code of your loading bar into one solid procedure which can be called from image loaded so you end up with three functions:
    loadImage
    imageLoaded
    displayProgressBar
    Maybe it's simpler not to display a progressbar but to display a text like XX loaded from XX images.
    I can't possibly write all the code for you but to adjust the loading bar use the image object instead of html code....
    preloadingImg = new Image();
    preloadingImg.src = "img/dot.jpg"   //whatever your preloader img is
    //To place your loading bar somewhere in the document:
    parentElement.addChildNode(preloadingImg);   //where parentElement is the container of the preloader image ( a DIV tag or whatever)
    //to adjust the width and height
    preloadingImg.height = someHeight + 'px';
    preloadingImg.width = someWidth + 'px'
    Another alternative is indeed use jQuery.

  • DeployJava.js and using css display:none;

    Hi all,
    I am using the deployJava.js to add an applet to a page.
    The applet is on a tab. My webpage has a few tabs and when you click from one to another using css I make a certain DIV disappear using display:none; and then to make the other DIV visible I use display:block;
    As I flick between tabs my applet has problems. Sometimes its loads and sometimes it doesn't. The documentation says you should only call deployJava.runApplet once, so maybe this is the problem. Any ideas how I should avoid this?
    Thanks,
    Cormac

    Hello Doktat,
    I also agree with you. This is a very annoying.
    My web application has a number of tabs and as you flick through them I use display:none; to hide certain divs.
    Unfortunately different browsers seem to handle differently.
    On Firefox, if I go to a different tab. My Applet is Stopped and when I go back to the original tab, my applet is redeployed and started again. This looks bad and also sometimes my applet doesn't show up at all, but maybe that is because I am calling deployJava more than once.
    On IE 7, everything seems to work beautifully and as I move between tabs the applet isn't started and stopped and deployJava only seems to be ever called once.
    This is frustrating, web pages are more complex now and java needs to fit in with this new complexity.
    I may have to move back to a pure javascript solution now. But I like to develop in java, so I keep pushing it to my manager and colleagues. Then it fails on something simple like this. I've been burnt before by applets and now it seems I am burnt again.
    I do hope that they think more about haw applets fit into more advanced situations.
    Talk later,
    Cormac

  • Css and javascript in text item

    I've read in other threads that you can add javascript and css into simple text items by clicking the 'View HTML Source' checkbox and adding the js and css.
    When I do this then apply it the code that I have added disappears and therefore has no effect on the item.
    Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
    Cheers,
    Steven.

  • Open XML and using xslt with JavaScript

    Hello,
    I want the user to be able to choose an XML-file. This XML-file should not be placed in InDesign, there is not even a document needed for my script. All I need is a variable, containing the file. However, the XML-file should be transformed with xslt into another XML-file. How do I do this?
    This is how I open the first XML-file, the one that should be transformed:
       var xmlDoc = File.openDialog ("Choose XML");
       if (xmlDoc == null) {return;}
        xmlDoc.open("r");
        xmlDoc = xmlDoc.read();
        xmlDoc = new XML(xmlDoc);
    I can adress different nodes and use xmlDoc as an XML-file, so that's fine, but how do I transform it?
    I read the Scripting Guide and tried this:
        var myDocument = app.documents.add();
        var myXMLImportPreferences = app.xmlImportPreferences;
        myXMLImportPreferences.transformFilename = "c:\myTransform.xsl";
        var xx = myDocument.importXML(File.openDialog ("XML"));
    However, it's not exactly what I want since I have to create a document and it's not working either, since xx stays undefined.
    Thanks for your help.

    You can't get exactly what you want.
    Your first code example uses the InDesign JavaScript interpreter's XML support, called E4X. It has absolutely nothing to do with the InDesign document object model or InDesign's internal support for XML. It exists only within the JavaScript interpreter. It does not support XSLT transformations.
    Your second example leverages InDesign's built-in XSLT support (I'm not too sure how this works...); but that is only useful when importing XML into
    InDesign, which, as you have learned, requires a document.
    In the first example, you could call out to an external invokation of xsltproc and read in the input. How to do that differs for Windows and Mac.
    In the second example, you could export the XML from your Document back out to an XML file and read it back in with E4X.
    None of this is very appealing. What do you really need to do?

  • Using cookies and JavaScript to create a page to page timer.

    I have long wanted to be able to measure the time it takes to get from one page to another.  While reading in my JavaScript reference the other day, I came across cookies.  I've long known about cookies but have never used them.  The thing that looked attractive was that you can access cookies from both JavaScript and CF.
    So I put together the procedures to store the "start time" (startTimeP8D) for the transition and activated it on the onUnload event of a 1stpage.  After a few rewrites I got it working.   Here is the JavaScript to do that: it consists of two functions: doTimer which is the input section and setCookie, which writes to the cookie.  Not the two numbered alert statements.
    doTimer - results for "start" from the doTimer function called from page 1 when it unloads. (See doTimer below)
         Please note that the two startTime8D values are the same immediately after they are stored.
    On the 2nd page in the sequence, I run the corresponding code to determine the "end time", compute the delta and write it out to the page.  It didn't all run on the first try, but it now seems to be running without a crash, which can be misleading.
          second set of outputs from page 2:
         Please not that while the endTimeP8D match, the startTimeP8D value no longer matches the previously stored value.
    There is one major hitch in the get along which has me stymied:  As you can see, when you compare the startTimeP8 in the setCookie – results above and the "startTimeP8" in the doTimer results below the startTimeP8 is not the value that I wrote to the cookie @ unload of page 1.  I have checked and checked and do now see anywhere that the startTimeP8D value is being overwritten.  Based upon my limited experience with JavaScript cookies, it seems to me that you get an entry for each time you set the cookie.  So I would expect to see to startTimeP8D entry for each setCookie event, not a different value.
         The result of the failed computation is shown on the bottom of the page.  As you can see, the Total Elapsed Time is negative, which is never a good sign.  The other time shown, Page build time, is the run time from the server.  The whole purpose is to be able to show folks that the reason the code might be show is because of their overloaded network and not our code.  We had one client whose had users running on 56k modems.  It was so slow their VPN software was timing out!!!  Still the had the never to blame us!!!
    I am using SQLServer 2005, CF8, IE8 on W7.
    I'm not married to this way of doing this so if anyone has a better/easier way of doing a "page to page timer", I'm up for it.  I'd prefer to fix this one since I've been working on it for the past 3 days.
    Thanks in advcance for your help.

              function setCookie(c_name,value,expiredays) {
                   var exdate=new Date();
                   exdate.setDate(exdate.getDate()+expiredays);
                   document.cookie=c_name+ "=" + escape(value) + ((expiredays==null) ? "" : ";expires="+exdate.toUTCString());
              function getCookie(c_name) {
                   if (document.cookie.length>0) {
                     c_start=document.cookie.indexOf(c_name + "=");
                     if (c_start!=-1)
                       c_start=c_start + c_name.length+1;
                       c_end=document.cookie.indexOf(";",c_start);
                       if (c_end==-1) c_end=document.cookie.length;
                       return unescape(document.cookie.substring(c_start,c_end));

         <h1>Test JavaScript Page Load Timer</h1>
    </body>

    Note that overwriting global window events like this is not a good idea, which is why I used JQuery in my earlier example. I strongly suggest you look at JQuery or one of the other JS libraries (YUI, etc.) to help with event handling. I'll leave it at that as this is getting into JavaScript development, not really on topic for a ColdFusion forum.

  • How to use css in oracle forms

    Hello,       I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 at windows 7.I have to use CSS in oracle forms.i have tried to search it but no profit.please some one else tell me that how can use css in oracle forms. Thnak You regards aaditya

    Hi
    As Francois pointed out Oracle forms has nothing to do with html based technology. The way you can get the equivalent effect of creating consistancy in the way your objects are displayed is by creating a set of items you want and alter their apperance and behaviour and place them into object libraries (one library should do the trick).  From there you subclass all of you forms items off these libraries.

  • CSS or Javascript?

    Hi,
    I have two pages. Page 1 image rollovers on the left of the
    page are designed using CSS, and Page 2 the rollovers use
    Javascript swap image behavior. When I looked at the CSS rollovers
    on another computer I felt like there was a lag on the loading of
    the rollover image. Sometimes the image wouldn't load for 5-8
    seconds. I have not checked the page using the swap image on
    another computer. Could someone please check the two pages, and see
    if there indeed is a noticeable difference between the two, or do I
    just need to further optimize the images?
    Page 1 CSS:
    http://sfrcreations.com/index.html
    Page 2 Javascript:
    http://sfrcreations.com/test.html
    Thanks!

    So do javascript rollovers.

  • How to style a GridPane Colomn or row using CSS ?

    Hi,
    I would like to style a Grid pane column using CSS. I found possible styling the entire GridPane using " -fx-border-color:yellow; -fx-border-insets:5; -fx-border-width:3;" for example. But is there a way of styling a single row or a single column?
    For example, let's say I want a yellow border on my last column, does anyone has a clue ?
    Thanks.
    Seb

    CSS doesn't do such things.

  • Old non-CSS site. Problems using CSS now.

    I have a site that was built with GoLive years ago. It has
    TONS of e-commerce form/store stuff on most of the pages. I quit GL
    a few years ago and moved all my sites over to DW CS3. It wasn't
    super smooth, but I eventually got it setup as a DW site and went
    on with it.
    Then CSS came in, and I learned how to build sites with it.
    My problem is that this old site (www.webriggingsupply.com) is a
    mess of inconsistency with fonts, font sizes, etc. On a page,
    within one table of store data, there might be 2 different fonts,
    and 3 sizes, when all should be the same font/size.
    Due to the sheer number of pages and tables, there is simply
    no way I can start over with a new site.
    I tried to use CSS to style the new site, but the old
    attributes are still in place.
    Any suggestions? I could copy/paste a page into a new site,
    but how do I strip out all the old font formatting? I tried it, and
    it comes in the new site just like the old site? I'm
    stuck!!!

    To remote deprecated code and other tags from legacy sites, I
    use a handy
    little extension called Tag Stripper 2.1 which runs from the
    Command menu in
    DW.
    It quickly removes unwanted <tables>, <fonts> and
    other tags in one pass...
    You can download it here (scroll down; it's 3rd from the
    bottom):
