Using CURRENT_ITEM_NAME in Read-Only Logic??

Is there a way to get the current item name in the read-only sections? I'm trying to pass the item name to a function to decide if it should be read-only.
Thanks!
btw, I'm using version 2.2.0.00.32

Hi
I'm trying to do same thing here.
I've got a db function, called from each item on a page, that is passed the item name and returns a boolean value which determines whether an item is read only or not.
I'm looking for an APEX system variable/function which will give me the current item name rather than hard code the item name into each individual call.
Cheers
Using Apex Version 4.0.1.00.03.

  • Using cache for read only data

    In my application I have to display some read only data (in number of drop down present on several portlets)
    this data might be driven from the database or from some XML/property file.Not decided yet.
    for example : Country /state/City/Zip code etc..
    Kindly let me know how can I implement the same in Weblogic Portal 10.0.
    Do I have to use some third party caching mechanism like Hibernate cache for this
    or
    Weblogic portal do support caching ??
    Please suggest the all possible soultions to implement this.

    Cache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("yourCache"); //any name can be passed, and you can create as many as you want , perhaps by functionality, perhaps by size etc. If you want to configure statically you must use this name in the xml file. If you define it in the xml file , you can administer the cache from Portal Admin
    cache.put("key","value");
    cache.get("key");
    There are other advanced things you can do like Time To live / flushing / auto reload the cache which is all described in the javadoc

  • Problem clicking on Read Only Logical Beans/Bean Modules

    Hi,
    I'm using Sun Java Studio 5 update 1 and use MS VSS to control my source. I have not integrated VSS with the s1s5. When I click on a read only module of beans, the ide pops up a whole lot of messages saying that it can't lock files because they are read only. So, I have to manually remove the read only attribute of the files, specially the .entejb and the .ejbdd files. This is a huge burden to me since some of my modules have more than 50 beans inside and it gives 50x2 popup messages when I expand the module.
    can anybody give me a solution to this?
    Thank you.

    Have you tried mounting as a Version Control filesystem. There is a topic in the Online Help titled "EJB Module Node" that might be helpful.It only mentions CVS and Clearcase as supported control systems. This might be because the topic was written before VSS support was added.

  • Is it a bad idea to use a single read only Connection?

    I am developing a client/server application, where each client request executes in a separate thread. Currently i create a new Connection object for ANY database access. I am wondering if there is any advantage changing this, to use a single Connection object for read only access, but still creating new Connection objects for read/write access.
    Does anyone have any opinions on this matter?
    I am aware that if i go with this approach, and someone causes a SQL exception on the read only connection that it will be closed. Right now this appears to be the main disadvantage to this approach.

    I don't like the single, read-only connection idea.ack
    A single connection throughout the execution of the
    application has several security disadvantages. It is
    also less scalable. I've read other problems
    associated with it but I none come to mind at the
    moment.What are the security implications that you speak of?
    I think for the type of application i am developing,database security is not a concern, as all users are able to access the same tables.
    Basically in our application, the security is in the application domain, not the database.

  • How do I create a PDF form for submission that can be used by Acrobat Reader only users?

    I am attempting to create a PDF document in Acrobat Pro with fields that can be submitted (via email) by users using only Acrobat Reader.
    I have tried changing the properties of the 'Submit' button, although I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
    Can anyone please help?
    C.

    I created a form using Adobe LiveCycle and added the submit via e-mail button. One change which I made was in the XML script I changed submission type to pdf, so that thepdf form itself would be e-mailed. This works fine if I use Adobe Pro 8, but when I tried the same using only Adobe Reader 7.0, it would not let me e-mail the form along with a message "This operation is not permitted".
    Any comments?
    Thanks

  • Read only text Items uses the maximum width

    Folks,
    I have a form with 3 regions and each region has 6 or more text items each with a different width (40, 30 24, 2...). I am using a Read Only Condition Type on all these items to disable them. I am setting the background color as bgcolor="#DCDCDC" in the Read Only Element Table Cell Attributes.
    All my elements are disabled (Gray color) but with the maximum width of 40 bytes. I don't want a 2 byte text item 40 bytes long and grayed out. How can I set a specific width for individual items in Read only Condition? Please help
    Thanks
    Raje.

    Try this alternative by disabling the HTML Form Item at the required process point.
    I added this JavaScript to the HTML Header of the page which will allow me to disable the required item, plus set its background and color:-
    <script language="JavaScript1.1" type="text/javascript">
        function disableFormItem(p_item, p_background, p_color){
                        disItem = document.getElementById(p_item);
                        disItem.style.background = p_background;
                        disItem.disabled = true;
                        disItem.style.color = p_color;
    </script>In the Region Footer of the Region where my items are located I added this JavaScript code:-
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
       ** Only disable the required Form Items if the Primary Key value is present,
       ** in this case it is P12_UEI. (Won't be present for new records as populated
       ** by on-insert db trigger and sequence.)
       if (html_GetElement('P12_UEI').value > 0)
          disableFormItem('P12_URESI', 'lightyellow', 'black');
          disableFormItem('P12_UZI', 'lightgray', 'black');
          disableFormItem('P12_UBI', 'lightgray', 'black');
    </script> The resulting page is a lot better looking than using the APEX read only text item.

  • How to make form as read only when another time as  user sees it..

    Hi All,
    I have a form to raise the issue. once the issue is raised it appears in the issue raised reports( that is form on a report )
    so all can view this report and click on issue no ..the form with details appear .
    but i want to restrict it , by allowing only one up manager to view the form on a report in editable format rest all can just view it .
    how can i do this?????????
    can any one help me with this ????..
    my approach is like this ...
    a column called "checked shud be added to issue table , then its values must be set to "raised" when issue is submitted for the very first time..( so it is zero when the end user is submitting it ).
    when ( the logged in user =1 up manager or checked!="raised") then
    form fields to be displayed as edited
    else
    form fields need to be read only .

    Nandini,
    If you edit any item, you can see a section where you can specify "Read-Only" condition. Here you can write your read-only logic using SQL OR PL/SQL or predefined conditions.

  • Read-only radio group losing value on validation error

    It took quite a while to track this down, but I think I've got it narrowed down properly. I have an APEX form for updating a record in a databse table with a radio group which is conditionally read-only. If that radio group has a value AND is read-only, when the form is submitted and hits a validation error, the value of the radio group is lost.
    For example, the radio group SUBMITTED_FOR_APPROVAL is set to Y and is read-only for a given user. That user then changes something else on the form and submits it. However, the form now hits a validation error for some field. When the form reloads with the validation error displayed, all the fields are restored except the read-only radio group which is now blank. If a select list is used with the identical read-only condition, it works fine. Likewise, if a radio group is used, but the read-only condition is removed, it works fine. It is only when it is a radio group and it is read-only, that the value does not appear to be submitted to the session with all the form values whent he form is submitted.
    Is this a bug or am I simply missing something?

    It's using a shared component LOV cleverly called LOV_YN which consists of a static LOV with
    1 Display=Yes, Return=Y
    2 Display=No, Return=N
    The settings in the LOV section on the item iteself:
    Named LOV: LOV_YN
    Display Extra values: No Dynamic translation: Not translated
    Number of columns: 2 Display null: No
    Null display value is blank as is null return value
    Item was setup as a radio group and was only converted over to a select list to work around this issue. Let me know what else you need and thanks again.

  • Textarea with Read Only Condition Type

    A have a textarea (database field with Varchar2(4000) with the Read Only Condition Type set to Request != Expression 1. Works fine, except that data presented as a long 1 line text (like a Displayed text) when condition meet (no vertical scrollbar).
    Am i missing some additional settings.

    the easiest way to get the read-only version of your textarea item to appear more like your read/write version is to add some style specifications into the "Read Only Element Table Cell(s) Attributes" field that's right below where you specified your read-only conditions ("Expression 1" and "Expresssion 2"). as the name suggests, values entered into that field end up in the table data tag for the cell in which your read-only content is placed. added style specifications for height and width would help you control how the text is spread across your page. you can/should also consider using background and color style attributes to color the table cell the way we're used to seeing read-only data ("grayed out"). so though my colors are way off, a string like this...
    style="width:16px;height:30px;background:#C5D5C5;color:666666;font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt"
    ...in that "Read Only Element Table Cell(s) Attributes" field would format your read-only data closer to what you're going for. at the least, it'd give you an idea for the type of control you have.
    for extremists, there's also another approach: if you want absolute and total control over the way your textarea item's data is displayed, you could display your item's data in an HTML region instead of as the item directly. for instance, you mentioned you liked that scroll bar. you could achieve the scroll bar by defining your table, the scroll bar class, and table cell in an HTML region. say we saved your textarea item's data to a hidden item called P1_MY_TEXTAREAS_DATA. i'm pretty sure this html would let you show that data in that scrollable non-updatable format you're shootin' for...
    <style type="text/css">
    .scrollarea{
    font-size: 10pt;height:250px;width:100%;text-align:left;
    background-color:#ffffff;color:black;padding:0px 0px 0px 0px;margin:0px;overflow: auto;
    float:left;}
    </style>
    <div class="scrollarea">
    <table summary="" width="100%"><tr>
    <td style="width:16px;height:300px;border:4px;margin-left:4px;margin-right:9px">
    &P1_MY_TEXTAREAS_DATA
    </td></tr></table><div>
    ...see? by defining your own table, you get the easy opportunity to wrap it in those div tags that call the scrollarea class. also note that i just referenced the content of your textarea item with that ampersand syntax (&P1_MY_TEXTAREAS_DATA). you could, of course, keep things cleaner by defining your scrollarea class in a css, but that's your call.
    hope this helps,

  • Used my card reader to import images, now see "incompatible JPEG" on images in camera

    I have a Canon Power Shot A720 and used the card reader to import photos into the organizer.  Now when I go back to erase some images from the camera I see many, but not all, of my 'once' images blacked out with a grey/white box in the center & a yellow question mark. Under the box it says "incompatible JPEG".  What does that mean?  It's never happened to me before, but I usually import my images directly from the camera.

    Hi,
    I'm not sure I understand your question since it's been a while since I had
    trouble.  When I had the trouble I was downloading from my camera and
    storing them in the Organizer.  My problem came when I edited those images
    and RENAMED them.  I guess the organizer didn't recognize the renamed
    photos?  Those were the images which had the yellow check mark.  I now use a
    card reader only, and I store them in 'Pictures' instead of the PSE
    organizer.  I haven't had any more problems.   I think the Organizer, when
    used properly, would be the best choice.....I just couldn't figure it out!
    Frankly, I just didn't understand the Organizer and was used to my own
    method for storage.  I think that's what messed me up.  I had help from a
    computer technician to retrieve those images, and I haven't had any problems
    since.
    As for deleting images, I only delete images from my camera by using the
    delete on my camera.  I never, never delete from my card/camera by using the
    prompt from my computer, like "do you want to delete these images from your
    camera?"
    Good luck!
    Donna
    I don't if I helped you at all.  You're welcome to write back or hope for a
    really good explanation on the forum boards.

  • Can we make the request datset user attributes read-only

    IS ther any poosiblity that we make the attributes in request dataset as read-only or non-editable

    Hi,
    I am not sure about but in lookup you can use the tag read-only="false".
    Can you try in your data type e.g:
    <AttributeReference available-in-bulk="true" length="200" widget="lookup-query" type="String" required="true" read-only="false" attr-ref="Facility" name="Facility">
    <lookupQuery lookup-query="**************" display-field="FacilityName" save-field="FacilityName"/>

  • Read Only preference

    We have a group of users who do queries for statistical reasons from our database. They currently use the free version of TOAD. One feature that we use is the "Read Only" capability to keep the users from accidentily doing something foolish.
    We need to switch to a newer version of the DB, probably 11g, but this breaks the version of TOAD that we have. We would like to use SQL Developer but we can't find a capability to turn on "Read Only" mode. Does such a feature exist?
    How does one enable it?
    Paul

    Apart from Justin's suggestions I can add a few myself.
    I guess a lot of systems have the same setup, where users have more rights then they really need, or they do need but can't control responsibly, just to have a working application (like Forms).
    We basically don't want the users to enter the database at all, if it's not through our applications.
    To solve this, we have a custom ON-LOGON trigger where we add a calculated suffix to the passwords, so the users really don't know the database password.
    Users that do need to enter the DB get another customized username with limited access (like only SELECT privs).
    Eventually, limiting a user's access is the only way to enforce security and preventing your data being manipulated wrongly.
    That said, there's still interest in having the option you describe. There were various requests over time (see http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:681099925215661::NO::P39_ID:4701 and http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:681099925215661::NO::P39_ID:2741), but they're currently all rejected. The more people interested, more likely the team can change their minds, so do vote on them.

  • How can we make SAP system READ ONLY !!!!!

    Hi, we have an SAP R/3 4.6 C Application. We need to take the system for read only state means we don’t want the users to allow any update for the system but they should be able to view the data what they have created. Mean while we don’t want the database to be taken in read only mode as we the administrators or the users might want to update their password information.
    It would be a big help if some one can through some tips on how we achieve this.
    Thanks much in advance.
    Guru

    Hi
             Please make the database in READ ONLY MODE. This will help. If it is an oracle database then.
    Open a Database in Read-Only Mode
    You can open any database in read-only mode to prevent its data from being modified by user transactions. Read-only mode restricts database access to read-only transactions, which cannot write to the datafiles or to the redo log files.
    Disk writes to other files, such as control files, operating system audit trails, trace files, and alert files, can continue in read-only mode. Temporary tablespaces for sort operations are not affected by the database being open in read-only mode. However, you cannot take permanent tablespaces offline while a database is open in read-only mode. Also, job queues are not available in read-only mode.
    Read-only mode does not restrict database recovery or operations that change the database's state without generating redo data. For example, in read-only mode:
    Datafiles can be taken offline and online
    Offline datafiles and tablespaces can be recovered
    The control file remains available for updates about the state of the database
    One useful application of read-only mode is that standby databases can function as temporary reporting databases
    Opening a Database in Read-Only Mode
    Opening a database in read-only mode enables you to query an open database while eliminating any potential for online data content changes. While opening a database in read-only mode guarantees that datafile and redo log files are not written to, it does not restrict database recovery or operations that change the state of the database without generating redo. For example, you can take datafiles offline or bring them online since these operations do not effect data content.
    If a query against a database in read-only mode uses temporary tablespace, for example to do disk sorts, then the issuer of the query must have a locally managed tablespace assigned as the default temporary tablespace. Otherwise, the query will fail. This is explained in "Creating a Locally Managed Temporary Tablespace".
    Ideally, you open a database in read-only mode when you alternate a standby database between read-only and recovery mode. Be aware that these are mutually exclusive modes.
    The following statement opens a database in read-only mode:
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ ONLY;
    You can also open a database in read-write mode as follows:
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN READ WRITE;
    However, read-write is the default mode.

  • Multi Data Source, Fail Over, Read-Only detected as unavailable

    We are using WLS 10.3.6.0 with WebCenter Content (WCC) as the application.
    For the production back end, RAC will be be the production DB and we need to support failover to Data Guard.
    We set up a Multi Data Source (MDS) with the first simple Data Source pointing to RAC and the second Data Source pointing to Data Guard.
    Upon testing, this scenario basically works correctly: when RAC is shutdown and Data Guard enabled, the switch occurs and the app works against Data Guard. And conversely, when Data Guard is shut down and RAC brought up, MDS will revert to pointing to RAC and the app will work correctly.
    However the DBA insists, that the alternate Data Source should not need to be completely down but should be able to be in a read-only state and the MDS should detect that if it is in a read-only state, it will be counted as unavailable and try to use the alternate Data Source. This does not work with the default set up, I see in the logs that a connection can be made to the read-only DB instance which will not work at all with the app and is not what is desired by the customer.
    Is there a way to configure the MDS so that if a Data SOurce is only available as read-only, the alternate Data Source will be used?

    I may be able to describe a trick... Try setting the "test table" property of the DataGuard DataSource
    to some update statement, ideally one to a otherwise unused table. eg:
    SQL update myJunkTable set foo = 1 where 1 = 0
    This won't actually update the table (which could have zero rows even) but I hope the
    read-only DBMS would throw an exception anyway, and this will give WLS the impression
    it can't get healthy connections, and That DataSource won't be used, until the read-only
    status is removed.
    However, from a standard point of view, a read-only DBMS may be perfectly useful for some applications,
    so that is not of itself a reason for WLS not to use it.
