Using custom FLV Skins

I recently created a custom flash player in Adobe Flash CS4, but when I try to use that skin in Dreamweaver it doesn't show up as an option.  What do I have to do to make so I can use my customly made flash player in Dreameaver?

Hi
The correct way to do this is to create your own dreamweaver extension.
But here is a quick, (and dirty, not recommended method).
First a must do action - back up the configuration template folder I will direct you to.
If you look in your program files - adobe - dreamweaver cs4 - configuration - templates - video_controls folder, you will find the default skins provided with dreamweaver. Place your skin in this folder.
Alternatively you can create this folder, (in its correct position) in your 'user' configuration folder, and place the file there.

    Please, can anyone help...
    I am currently working on a projects that needs to have a custom flash skin player.
    I have tried copying and editing excisting skins, but when I export the swf and fla into the crrect folders, I am able to select it from the skin list- however it doesn;t show in the player.
    Am I exporting/publishing this in the correct way and to the right folders?
    If anyone can give me a tip of how to achieve this that would be great, or a link to somewhere that may have the infor I'd be happy,

  • Error while deploying, Custom Style Skin in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7

    Hi,
    I have deployed Custom Style Skin in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 successfuly (with the help of http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/12/oracle-bi-ee-11g-styles-skins-custom-xml-messages/ ).
    Now when we're moving RPD, Catalog & Custom Style Skin from OBIEE 11.1.1.5 to OBIEE 11.1.1.6.7, I could deploy RPD & Catalog but am not able to deploy Custom Style & Skin Folders.
    If you are aware of the process of deploying Custom Style & Skins (as mentioned in the link above), it requies:
    1. Custom Style & Skins folder to be Deploy using Weblogic Console.
    2. Making necessary changes in instanceconfig.xml (to point to the deployed folder) ---- this is where it's failing.
    When I do add necessary tags ( <URL> & <UI>) in instanceconfig.xml and restart Services. Presentation Services dosen't come up. Error message that is in log file is:
    In element URL: Can not have element children within a simple content.

  • How to I get an FLV Skin to display on external sites?

    This is thee most frustrating thing! I've been trying to get
    my FLV skin to display on other sites when embedded, but the video
    is the only thing that shows up. There are no play back controls;
    nothing! I can view things just fine on my site (so that is NOT the
    problem) – it's just not displaying on other sites.
    I am using an FLV component and I do have all the necessary
    files loaded in the same folder. It's just when I try embedding the
    SWF file on an external site, the only thing that shows up is the
    video w/ no controls or skin.
    Is there embedding code to include the second SWF file?
    OR
    Is there a better way in creating a SWF file that includes
    the FLV component? ActionScripting or something that needs to be
    added???
    If so, please explain! I got ALL DAY AND NIGHT! This is
    driving me up the wall. There is NOTHING on the web that talks
    about this.
    Thanks!!!!!

    I found a link which informs that not all servers allow the MIME type for "f4v" files. . .
    http://forums.devshed.com/flash-help-38/how-do-i-make-f4v-files-play-in-a-web-610155.html
    Also, when I tried inserting a FLV object using Media>FLV the menu option only allowed me to insert FLV files, not F4V files.  So that comes back to the issue of what type of container you would be using since the Dreamweaver FLV container does not support F4V.

  • Custom button skin with scaleGrid 9 slice image does not appear in Design Mode

    So in a custom button skin I have a nine sliced image, and then throw that onto an MXML page. In design view, I cannot get the component to show the image that I've thrown on it. Unless I do a hack on the MXML page by adding the image in it's scaleGrid form to the page somewhere. Then it seems to act as like a preloader for the image so it actually displays. But I don't want to do this hack on every page that uses this component. Is there a work around?
    Here's the button skin:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Skin xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                        xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
                        width.disabled="296" height.disabled="73">

                        [Embed('assets/art/shared/[email protected]', scaleGridTop=20, scaleGridBottom=85, scaleGridLeft=40, scaleGridRight=60)]
    </fx:Metadata>

                                   maxDisplayedLines="1" textAlign="center" verticalAlign="middle" verticalCenter="1"
                                   color="#FFFFFF" >

      </s:filters>
    </s:Label>
    </s:Skin>
    And then I throw that button into an MXML page. The image doesn't show up in design view.
    <s:Button x="330" y="94" width="134" height="57" label="Button" skinClass="features.shared.NineSliceButtonSkin" />
    This hack, fixes the button! And all other buttons that use that skin.
    <s:Image width="100%" height="100%" smooth="true" source="@Embed('assets/art/shared/[email protected]', scaleGridTop=20, scaleGridBottom=85, scaleGridLeft=40, scaleGridRight=60)"/>
    <s:Button x="330" y="94" width="134" height="57" label="Button" skinClass="features.shared.NineSliceButtonSkin" />

  • Adding subtitle functionality to my custom flv player

    Hey all,
    I have a custom flv player and i'm slowly adding more functionality to it as I go along but i've hit a wall.
    I want to add a subtitle button that toggles between show/hide. I've seen on the internet that the best way is to use an XML file (holding the script, times etc.), which I have no problem writing.
    I'm having problems trying to replicate the 'FLVPlaybackCaptioning' component (in Flash CS3) in to my custom flv player. I.E. Adding the right actionscript to my toggle button.
    Can anybody help me as I just can't find anything on the internet.
    Any advice is welcome!
    Thanks
    egr103

    Well the problem is that I can't find any tutorials or help about getting a subtitle toggle button into my custom flv player, an example of which can be found here: http://idl.newport.ac.uk/dev/customplayer.html
    I don't like using the FLVPlayback component built into flash as it is too clunky but at the moment that is the only way I can get subtitles to toggle on and off (using the FLVPlaybackCaption component).
    Ideally I would like to use an XML file to do the subtitles. Any ideas?

  • Problem Using Flash FLV Video Via Dreamweaver CS3

    I have been unable to get my FLV video to play on my website.
    I seem to have two problems:
    1) I want the FLV file to be hosted in a different domain to
    the website itself (for bandwidth reasons) and it doesn't want to
    do that!
    2) I would prefer to use Flash skins rather than Dreamweaver
    skins as I want to offer a full-screen option but I cannot get them
    to work!
    If I host the FLV file on the website domain, the video plays
    ok. If I change the file location in the Properties of the movie to
    become the FLV located on the other domain (using full path
    http://<etc>flv) then nothing
    displays on that part of the page. Firebug tells me it has loaded
    the AC_RunActiveContent.js and FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf but it
    makes no mention of the skin file or the flv file itself ... it is
    as if it just simply has not bothered with it! I suspect I am
    missing something obvious but cannot find it. All help would be
    appreciated. By the way, I have loaded up a crossdomain.xml file to
    the root of the domain that hosts the flv file but that didn't seem
    to make any difference!
    The second challenge is that ideally I would like to use a
    Flash skin so that I can have a full-screen option and so that I
    can have the menu bar under the video itself. However, I can't even
    get that option to work when I host the whole lot on the normal
    webserver! I am suspecting that it might be something that might
    suddenly start working when I fix problem 1. However, if anybody
    has any links to a page that provides simple instructions about how
    to do this task I would greatly appreciate it!
    Many thanks for your help!

    1) Why not post your video to YouTube or Google Video and
    then embed the
    code they provide into your website. This way their servers
    carry the
    bandwidth for you and the scripted embed code will work on
    your site.
    2) If Video sharing isn't an option, and you need more
    bandwidth, you can
    get domain hosting for as little as $4.95 - 6.95/month at
    Bluehost,
    Lunarpages or Web Hosting Pad.

  • Can't Use Any Other Skins - Only the Ones That Came with DW

    Hello Everyone,
    I am a little frustrated, as I would think some of you may be.
    I love Dreamweaver, but here's the problem I'm dealing with right now:
    I am inserting videos in some webpages, and DW does a good and quick job of it right out of the box... if you use the Supplied Skins.
    I have made some custom skins and it would be fantastic if DW would let me use them.
    I put them in the folder with the included skins, and I can choose them from the skin selector dialog box, But they don't work in Live View, or when loaded into a browser.
    It's not just my custom skins either, I tried using the skins that came with Flash CS4, both AS2 & AS3 with the same results.
    Any Ideas??
    Thank you in advance, your support is much appreciated!

    Hello PZ,
    Thanks for the reply and link!
    I've seen this tutorial before and tried it, but I had some problems, which I think is a missprint in the tutorial itself... maybe you can help clarify.
    The tutorial gives two code blocks, a before and an after.
    Problem:
    The after codeblock seems to be missing an opening tag, and I don't know how to fix it.
    Before:

  • Custom FLV player query

    Dear all
    I have created a custom FLV player and i would like to embed
    it into our web site. The problem I have is I want it to be
    dynamic. So I can link lots of videos to it rather than export just
    one movie with the player from flash and embed that each time into
    the website. I want the player as a permanent entity and then link
    to it via a database with a list of FLV videos. I know about
    Flashvars and creating those variables in the javascript file but I
    want to know do I need to or can I type a query into the source
    field in the parameters of the .fla file to link to a database full
    of the videos. Rather than place in that source field the name of
    one .flv movie. Thats where I am stuck. I am pretty new to flash. I
    am using progressive download by the way.
    Our website is coded with classic ASP/CSS and we use access
    for databases.
    Many thanks

    Thanks so much for your help, I am probably going to sound
    thick but how would I get flash to read the xml, I guess I would do
    it with actionscript but do you have any pointers or tutorials you
    know of where it involves asp and a database etc.

  • Best approach to dynamic custom flv player

    I am currently working on a custom flash player. After
    working on several working versions where I simply used
    actionscript to delegate the actions of my custom player.
    I am now working on a more dynamic ready flashplayer that
    will need to be embeddable. Should I make a .swf specificaly for
    the player using the flash player SkinFLA examples as an outline?
    The idea is to have a player that embeds like youtube, any
    suggestions or tutorials to look over? Also, this player needs to
    have playlist functionality, but it needs to be able to scope to
    anyone. I could have users register and then create an XML that
    references their playlist, but it seems like there may be better
    options. Just looking for some discussion and debate over player
    best-practices....

    Well the problem is that I can't find any tutorials or help about getting a subtitle toggle button into my custom flv player, an example of which can be found here: http://idl.newport.ac.uk/dev/customplayer.html

  • Using custom fonts in the Navigation pane

    Hi
    I'm using custom fonts in my webhelp. To do this, I created a folder for the web versions of the custom fonts and put it in the same folder as my css. I then added the font face elements to the top of my css (in Notepad). Next I used the custom font name for all the style defined in the css (in Notepad). That makes the content of the topics use the custom font. All good.
    Next, I edited the htt file (in Notepad) to use the name of the custom font. Now the breadcrumbs and topic footer use the custom font. All good.
    Finally, I want to use the custom font in the navigation pane (the text next to the books and page icons). I edited the skn file (in Notepad) to use the custom font. I also added a dependency for my css to the bottom of the skn file. Then I generated the webhelp.
    When I launch the help, the browser (IE) doesn’t allow running scripts or ActiveX controls (this is normal). At this point, the TOC in the Navigation pane looks like it uses the correct font. Once I click to allow IE to run scripts, etc. the font in the TOC changes to something that looks like Times or some default serif font.  So, it appears that something in the javascript is changing the font.
    For good measure, I checked the whtdhtml file and the custom font name is used there.
    Any ideas on what's happening and how to get my custom font to appear in the Navigation pane?
    BTW, I use images only in the toolbar pane (that spans the top of the webhelp window), so I don't need to specify the custom font there.
    Deborah

    Hi William
    I found one error. In the skin file, I had added a dependency to my css. It was missing a slash (/) to point to the correct folder level. Now that I've added that, the TOC displays the same font as the Index, Search results, and the topic (content, breadcrumbs, and footer). So, that's good, but on closer inspection, it looks like Verdana, not my custom font.
    I changed the font in whthost.js to the name of my custom font and generated the help, but it made no difference. I also changed the font and just opened the help without generating and got the same results.
    For your second suggestion, you mean whtdhtml.htm not whtdhtml.js? The custom font is in the lines:
    setFont("Normal", "MyFont","10pt","Black","Normal","Normal","none");
    setFont("Hover", "MyFont","10pt","#004080","Normal","Normal","underline");
    I added the <font> tag to this file, but the tag just shows up as plain text within the webhelp TOC (no matter where I insert it in the file).
    I also tried changing the font to my custom font for the Index body and Search results using the steps in Rick's Skinny on Skins (editing the whibody.htm and whfbody.htm files). When I do this, the serif font appears in the Index body and Search results.
    It seems like the files cannot "see" my custom fonts (which are in a folder at the same level as my css).

  • Using custom fonts in app development?

    Could somebody inform me if it is possible to use custom fonts of choice when developing an app. If so are there any restrictions? I have read that sinds OS 3.2 iPhonesupports custom fonts, ttf and otf  fonts. Is this not the case also  for the ipad? Or am I completely off track?
    If one can add custom fonts do they work along the same lines as embedded webfonts, availale for all users even if they are not  on their ipad?

  • Using default CS5 skin, play/pause & stop buttons disabled until going fullscreen

    We are using default CS5 skins with an flvplayback component built through action script 3.  When playing certain videos (and only certain videos, however there isn't yet a pattern), the play/pause, stop & seek buttons are completely unresponsive.  They don't change stats on hover & they are unclickable.
    However, the fullscreen button does always work, and upon going fullscreen and coming back out, the buttons now work again.
    I really have no idea what is going on here, it seems rather random.  So far, the problem was seemingly at its worst displaying a video that was encoded with Sorenson spark (an older codec) and we wondered if it had to do with the file itself, the headers, anything of that sort.  But the fact that the skin and buttons work fine once entering and exiting fullscreen - that is perplexing.

    Just an update, but the following line:
    my_FLVPlybk.scaleMode = "noScale";
    Has something to do with the issue.  When we include this line (which tells the player to resize to the size of the given FLV), we get the problem with the buttons not working.  If we take the line out, we do not see that problem.
