Using external trigger channels with PCI-1422

I need to trigger some 5 volt relays with my PCI1422 board similar to the way it is done with digital I/O on a standard board. Can this be done using the trigger channels? I have tried this and only get a 2V state change...

Hi,
How much current are your 5V relays pulling? Have you tried to measure the voltage change on your 1422 trigger lines with a Voltmeter without connecting it to the relays? The Trigger lines on the 1422 should give a 5V TTL signal, so something must be pulling that signal down.
Hope this helps.

  • Raytheon 2000b camera with PCI-1422

I am trying to use a Raytheon 2000b camera with PCI-1422. I have downloaded the attached doc and icd file from NI.
    1. As far as I now there is no proper NI cable for my camera, but the pinout is described in the doc file. I would like to purchase a cable, and solder a connector on it for my camera. Which cable should I choose, if I need the following pins on the PCI-1422 side: 1-32, 41-46, 49-50, 93-94, 99-100?
    2. The icd file supports image acquisition only, attribute settings via serial line are not contained. I would like to add this feature, but I could not find any description about the icd files. Where can I find a document that would help me?

    My problem is solved now.
But I don't know what is the exact solution.
The camera & cable provider and me tried as below.
    try-1. connecting tm-1320-15 and 1422 with serial-enabled cable
    try-2. changing 'OnBoardClock(20)' to 'OnBoardClock(25)'
With only 'try-1 ', it failed. but additional 'try-2' we could snap and grab the camera image.
And now, I can get images without serial-enabled cable, regardless of OnBoardClock speed.
I think the camera has been initialized with max's parameters(same as icd file) when the serial commnunication had enabled for the first time.
(I'll verify this assumption with new tm-1320-15 later.)
    Thank you.
Tip : If tm-1320-15 and 1422 makes error because of parameter mismatching, reset the tm-1320-15's power.

  • Can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US

Since this a Windows tablet, can you use external hard drives with the HP Omni 10 5600US?
I know there is a micro-sd reader for additional storage but can you use the usb for external hard drives like a regular pc?
I tried looking at the spec's for this tablet and it said the usb port was host only. I'm not sure what that means exactly.

Yes you can.  You'll need to purchase a USB OTG (on-the-go) cable.  I recommend using a drive that has its own power supply but I've successfully used small USB powered drives also.

  • Can I use Labview real time with PCI 6013?

How much does Labview real time cost?
Do i need to have some additional hardware to use labview real time with PCI 6013?

You can not use the PCI-6013 board with LabVIEW Real-Time.
We offer three platforms for LabVIEW Real-time. PXI embedded controllers, 7030 data-acquisition plug-in boards (7030/xxxx) and FieldPoint. For more information on these options go to www.ni.com/products and then choose Real-Time from the menu on the left. There are PCI versions of the 7030 boards. Each 7030 board has a data-acquistion board attached to it (6030E, 6040E or 6533). When you embed a LabVIEW Real-Time program on the 7030 you will be able to access the daughter board. You can not access other boards from the embedded program. If you want to use several daq cards in your real-time system I would recommend a PXI chassi and PXI daq boards.

    Hello:

    Hello Brooks:
    Thank you for attention !
I will try to explain my application:
I need to measure a signal of a speed/position sensor. This sensor works with hall effect principle and is placed in front of a wheel with some teethes. Is used for automotive purpose in CAM and CRANKSHAFT applications. So, I need to measure period, duty cycle, rise time, fall time, Vpp, Angles for each teeth x encoder, everything from 40 to 7500 rpm.
I'm using CH0 to measure a signal of this speed/position sensor.
I'm using CH1 to measure a signal of an encoder connected to wheel.
I'm using EXT Trigger to sync acquisition with encoder's INDEX signal.
I need to measure the frequency of EXT trigger to know the instantly speed of the wheel.
So, If I know that my encoder has 2048 pulse/rev, I can measure FFT_FREQUENCY of CH1 with scalar measurement functions and calculate the speed !
The NI-Scope is wonderful because it can measure a lot of things automatic and fast, like period, frequency, duty cycle, rise/fall times ...
Now I have one more question:
I want to use 10:1 attenuation but I can't use a common probe. I want to connect the CH0 to sensor with a special connector.
I've tried to make the same circuit with 9MOhms and capacitor like explained on site, but I reached bad results. The industrial probes has special characteristics for capacitance and noise rejection.
Do you know how can I solve it ?
    Thank you.

  • Section of the data collected with PCI 1422 card connected to a CCD camera looks step-like

I am using the PCI 1422 card with a DALSA CA-D1-0128T camera to acquire and save fluorescence data from a heart stained with a potentiometric dye. The camera is set to work at 490 frames per second. My acquisition program (made using a producer consumer loop in Labview 2009) works fine most of the times, but sometimes a small section of the collected data looks step-like (not continuous). I have attached herewith a word document containing a snap of the data. Could you please give me some suggestions as to why this happens and how can I rectify it?

    Hi Anuj,
First, this sounds like a very cool application.  What are you measuring? Is it in vivo?
I believe that I see what you are referring to--is it where your cursor is that you are seeing the "step" problem?  Also, could you give us a little more information aboutwhat type of data we are looking at?  Is this some sort of image analysis data?
In terms of code structure, due to the way that LabVIEW handles image data types (it is essentially a pointer to the data instead of the data itself), I wouldn't recommend passing an image via a queue.
So, please let me know a bit more about what type of data we are looking at, and what your code looks like, and I'll be happy to help.

  • Why do I often get blank frames while acquiring images using external trigger under Windows 7?

I'm using Windows 7, the latest LabVIEW and IMAQdx right now. The program was developed based on the example provided by LabVIEW. Everything ran well on Windows XP using internal trigger or external trigger. But when I wanted to run the program on a desktop with Win 7, I just cannot get the images continuously using the external trigger. Although I can get the images, the blank frames showed up very often. When I chose the internal trigger, there was no problem.
Once I thought there might be something wrong with my program. But I tried the LabVIEW example to select the internal trigger mode and external trigger mode, it had the same problem.
Is there anyone could give me some suggestions to solve this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi Matt,
The images are either "all blank" or "all good".
The hardware setup is exactly the same.
The blank images are not acquired periodically.
Similar results were also seen when using MAX to control the camera.
We found a solution to this problem. But we don't know how to explain it. When we were using the 5-Hz external trigger, we thought the video mode would not affect the image acquisition and therefore we left the video mode option as default (15 fps). But when we change the video mode to 7.5 fps or 30 fps, the problem disappeared. So now if we want to get rid of the blank frames while using the external trigger, we just need to choose the video mode other than 15 fps. Interestingly, when we switch back to the XP system, the camera also acquried inconsistent blank frames if we set the video mode at 15 fps.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How can i use external hard drive with mac and pc!

I've been using a Lacie external hard drive with my mac to keep the itunes library and other things since day one. Since i have a dvd with files for windows and an old pc without a dvd drive, i decided to copy and paste the content of the dvd to the external hard drive. The only problem now is that when i plug the external hard drive to pc, it won't open. I know it has to be formatted in a different way, but i need to find out the best solution!
    Any idea?

You can format the external drive in Fat32 (which I don't recommend but is the most compatible between both platforms), or NTFS (which requires some work to get your Mac to recognize), or HFS+ (which requires special software on your PC so your PC can use it).
If you use this drive mostly with your Mac, get MacDrive for your PC:
    http://www.mediafour.com/products/macdrive
If you use this drive mostly with your PC, here's some software for you Mac. I haven't tried this myself, but the professional reviews have been good:

  • Starting and stopping timer using external inputs interfaced with labview

    hello,
I have trouble finding how to start and stop the timer using external voltage or current pulse. we are interfacing a circuit to labview. so for that we need to count the time it takes between the two external voltages. We have to keep on comparing the voltages to some reference voltage. And when the external voltage crosses the reference voltage we have to start the timer and again we have to stop the timer using tha same logic. We need it for time calculation between the triggers.
    hope you can help.

https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-23334 is agood example to start. You need to modify it to include stop trigger.

  • Using external Pro Speakers with MacBook...?

Is there a jack-pluc adapter af any sort that can enable me to use my 'Pro Speakers' with my MacBook?

  • Using pulnix tm-1320-15 lvds camera with pci-1422 lvds and ni's icd file

The camera provider give me a custom-made-cable.
Its pinout configuration is based on the ni's wiring diagram. (not opened)
But because of the problem of power supplying, the serial communication pins cannot be used.
With the icd file for tm-1320-15 in this site, I cannot get an image, but only the error messages of "IMG_ERR_TIMO" and dma error.
So I've tried some solutions suggested in this forum such as acquisition image reducing(the result is noisy one) and moving the 1422 closer to the cpu board. But all failed with that message.
I doubt that there must be an only one setting for tm-1320-15 camera and camera configuration in MAX 2.0 in case of "serial disabled", or the icd file is not
    proven in lvds version.
(Is "OnBoardClock(20)" right? the camera works at 25MHz according to its manual. )
Is there anyone succeeded in this combination?

  • Frequency measurement with High Speed Digitizer using External Trigger

    Hello:
    I

    Hello;
That is happening because you are doing Software timed operation, and since Windows manages all tasks that runs on the machine at any given time, your VI might take different times to execute, and that might be enough for you to miss some pulses.
The best way to do that is by using a 660x board, and have three counters doing the job. The firts counter can be configured as the first pulse train generator, the second counter can be used to generate a pulse that will trigger the third counter of. That pulse will be generated when the delay of 90 degrees is reached. So, the second counter will count events and will be triggered of by the pulse train generated by the first counter.
The third counter is configured as triggered pulse train generator, and t
he output pulse of the second counter is used as the trigger pulse for the third counter.
If you don't use that approach, you won't be able to reach fast speeds and might also miss some pulses, due to the Software timed approach.
    Hope this helps.

  • Using external time base on PCI-MIO-16XE-50

What is frequency of the internal time base of PCI-MIO-16XE-50? How can I replace it with my external timebase ( a pulse signal from an atom clock)?
Also after replacing the internal timebase with external one, the scan rate and channel convert rate will be based on this external timebase automatically, right? For example, I define 1000 scan/s on AI0-AI8, it will be a scan rate based on the external timebase?

The AI Clock Config.vi can be used to set the scan clock rate. If a person wishes to change the boards internal time base to an external one, the method described in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/5601c8268d625a3c86256cf50071199d?OpenDocument is the way to do this.
The PCI-MIO-16XE-50 has a RTSI connector. Please look at the PCI Board JPEG on http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/AD2D553F55A07BBF8625650D005F1F00?OpenDocument for the location of this connector. This site also contains a table of the RTSI Connector Pinouts.

  • How to use the CJC channel with 9211 in labview?

    Hello there,
I have cDAQ-9172 with the 9211 module for some thermocouple measures.

    Cont Acq Thermocouple Samples-HW Timed2.vi ‏46 KB

    Hi Sandro,
By "I want to use 1 channel for the CJC", are you talking about using the NI 9211's built-in CJC channel, _cjtemp?
If so, go back to the original example code and set the CJC Source control to Built-In. This will cause DAQmx to use _cjtemp as the CJC source. You won't see the CJC temperature on the graph by default: Reading the CJC Values with the Thermocouple Measurements.
If you have an external CJC sensor connected to one of the thermocouple channels (ai0:3), then create a global channel in MAX (thermistor, or voltage w/custom scale), specify the name of that channel in the CJC Channel control, and set CJC Source to Channel. It's better to use the built-in CJC sensor unless the external CJC sensor is definitely more accurate, and not less.
Regarding the Start button you added to the example VI, I would recommend moving the call to DAQmx Create Channel out of the polling loop so that it doesn't leak memory by creating DAQmx tasks that never get used. Adding a call to Wait Until Next ms Multiple (from the Timing palette) or Wait For Front Panel Activity (from the Dialog & User Interface palette) would prevent the polling loop from wasting CPU cycles.

1: select an instrument channel, go the parameter of the channel then change the midi channel to "ALL"
2: insert the Multitimbral sampler of your choice ( RMX, hypersonic or what ever) and load the sounds you want onto them
3: open environment, in the environment parameter it shows AUDIO click hold it and select ALL OBJECT, then go to view and untick "BY TEXT"
4: connect the GM DEVICE to the channel that has the Multitimbral Sampler on it'll ask Do you want to remove the channels port setting? click remove
    thats it
Now go to the arrange window and you can use all the 16 midi channels to control one Multitimbral Sampler
that means midi channel 1 will control what ever sound is loaded in the first slot on the Multitimbral Sampler
lemme know if there was a mistake along the line, i'm a bit tired gotta help out
