Using eyedroppers from Levels?

After setting white, mid, and dark points with the eye droppers in the levels:
1. Why does the histogram looks different, with broken lines. What does this mean?
2. Is setting these points a way to remove color casts?
Thanks.

The "gray point" dropper is indeed one way to help remove a color cast.
The broken lines are because you're working with 8 bits/channel data, and because you're moving the black and white points in from the ends you're causing the 8 bit values that used to be spread across a limited range to be spread across the full range from 0 through 255.  With 8 bit math, some resultant values are simply impossible to get, hence the "gaps" in the histogram.
I really don't think I'd use the Levels function to bring the black and white points in, myself.  Personally I prefer curves and to never actually move the black and white points, but to adjust things so the values "roll off" near the ends.  This avoids clipping things to black or white.
But even more basic than that:  Perhaps someone here can suggest an entirely better workflow if you'll let us know what kind of data are you opening, to start with...  Are you opening photos from your camera, JPEGs, web graphics, or what?
For example, you may want to consider doing your editing on 16 bits/channel data for your editing to increase the accuracy of operations. This implies you'll want to open raw photos from a digital camera at a higher bit depth (e.g., from raw files using Camera Raw into 16 bits/channel), and set your black and white points and correct color casts early, in Camera Raw.

  • How to use one app on two different devices so the info is the same...not having to start from level 1 again on new device

    Hi there,
    I have an app which I have recently achieved level 16 on (stored on ipod 4)...I have just purchased an iphone4s and would like to download the app to my iphone to play on there so I can play it anytime and not just at home when connected to wifi. When I downloaded it to my iphone it started me from level 1 again so I deleted it off and have tried several different ways to install the info syned from ipod without success...if this is not possible please advise...however I have been successfull with other games in having them show on both. I am afraid to delete it off itunes as it says it will delete it off the ipod when next synced.
    Kind regards
    Extremely frustrated individual

    You're looking for something that's called a reverse web proxy.  That'll require some manual configuration within Apache, as it's not supported natively by Server.app tool.
    The other option is to have your "primary" host just fetch and display the web data from the other host — nothing requires the contents of a web page all be from the local host, after all.
    Another potential option is to configurre for and VPN into the network, and you can then access the network locally — this assumes you're the primary consumer of the reverse proxy, and not "the world".
    Related here and here and probably a few others; remember that the configuration files in Mavericks are located under /Library/Server/Web now.

  • How to use Results from Another Query for SAP BW universes

    Hi Everyone,
    I have two SAP BI universes.In my First universe I have Sales Doc no (dimension) and Orderqty (Measure) and in my second universe I have Sales Doc no(Dimension) and BillQty (Measure).
    Here in my first dataprovider I have 1200 rows of data and in second dataprovider I have 75,000 rows. The report should fetch only the BillQty details that matches to corresponding  Sales doc no in first data provider.
    I want to place all these fileds into a single report like as shown.
    (Datarpovider1)                (Datarpovider1)                    (Datarpovider2)
    *Sales Doc No*               Orderqty                           BillQty
    Here I am able to generate single report using merge dimension but it is leading to performance issues. I want to restrict the values at query level by passing the First dataprovider Sales doc no to second Data provider Sales doc number using Results from Anothery Query feature so that It can fetch only the matching records.
    I tried it but it was giving the follwing error:
    A filter contains a wrong value. You cannot run this query. (Error: WIS 00007)
    How Can I get rid of this error. Can we use Results from Anothery Query option for OLAP universe. Are there any limitation on it.
    All this I am doing in Webi Rich Client.
    Appreciate your help
    Thanks &in Advance
    Kiran Saka

    Hi Kiran,
    I think the filter has a wrong operand. For example, a filter with an empty constant, or a filter that deals with numeric values is defined with an alphanumeric value.Check out for this.

  • Ive just got a new iPhone4 and I am trying to get the App's ie games from my iPhone3 onto the 4 and retain the same levels that I have reached on the 3, The Apps have gone onto the 4 but its making me re-start everything from level 1?

    Ive just got a new iPhone4 and I am trying to get the App's ie games from my iPhone3 onto the 4 and retain the same levels that I have reached on the 3,
    The Apps have gone onto the 4 but its making me re-start everything from level 1?
    Ive paid $$ for the games and then more $$ within the games via iTunes for in game purchases and desperatly want the games on the 4 with the levels that I have reached on the 3!
    Can anyone help!! Please!!!! My Smurfs and Animals are starving Hahahaha

    Mate, it's good to hear that you have gotten the iPhone 4 but sorry to burst your bubbles. Not all games can have the "saved" data ported over.
    Normally when you save a game in iPhone, the memory used is in the flash memory of the device. Those that can be ported over, reason is due to the data being saved over the air and when you logged in on a new device, it recognises you via the userID.
    Maybe you can try to backup your iPhone 3, and restore the file onto your iPhone 4. Not too sure if that would brick your phone though.

  • How to use payload from standard RFC MessageType in a RFC Lookup function

    Hello
    We have a DB sender to call an BAPI. The DB receiver gets the BAPI response.
    It is an easy scenario with one mapping.
    But the RFC Mapping Lookup is very awful. You have to rebuild all open and close tags to get the RFC payload. A lot of concat functions are a must. The error search in such a mapping is not easy and seems like EAI developing 1990 (Hand am Arm).
    Ok, it is better as a BPM, but it is not well for first level support person and release changes and trouble shooting.
    How can I use a XML payload from first mapping in my RFC Mapping lookup (second mapping)? There must be a way with two mappings and an easy RFC lookup.
    Currently (one mapping):
    DB sender format -> ( RFC lookup self-made RFC XML structure) DB receiver format
    My dream (two mappings):
    DB sender format -> RFC SAP XI standard Format ->(RFC lookup by using Payload from first mapping) DB receiver format
    I hope someone can help me with an example.
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
    If i understood correctly, urs is a 'Asynch' scenario JDBC to JDBC with a RFC lookup in Mapping.
    If its so, then i think wat u r expecting can be done. In Interface Mapping, u can add more than one message mappings.
    So first do a Mapping for DB sender format - RFC input standard format,
    then another one for RFC sender Format - RFC receiver format, (look up code goes in this mapping).
    Then third one from RFC receiver format to DB receiver format.
    The order n which u add in Interface Mapping is also important. This is a suggestion, i havent tried this, but still i think u can give it a try.

  • Problem using existsnode from view

    I am having a problem using existsnode from a view. I am currently using 10.2.0.3
    example

            ) "Associations"
    ) person
    from person p
    /When I run the following statment
    select person
    from xml_person_association o
    where existsnode(person,'/Person/Associations/Association[OrganizationID=30097]')=1;
    I get no records returned. Now if I used the extract function and use the same path that's in the existsnode clause I get a record returned.
    select extract(person,'/Person/Associations/Association')
    from xml_person_association o
    where existsnode(person,'/Person/Associations/Association[OrganizationID=30097]')=1;
    <Association>
    <Name>TEST DATA</Name>
    <OrganizationID>30097</OrganizationID>
    </Association>
    If I run the same style of existsnode statment against a table directly instead of a view I am not required to use an extract caluse that has the same path that is used in the existsnode clause.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Use of pseudocolumn 'LEVEL' in Forms cursors

    I am finding that if I use a record group query in a
    select 1,..... start with , connect by query for a hierarchial tree what if in my where clause I use
    'and where level <= 1' the entire tree comes back but all designated as level 1. If I do the same query using an explicit query I get the expected results of only the top level of the tree.
    Any ideas? I can fortunately capture only the root node by using where rownum = 1 but would like to be able to capture several levels in the initial query.

    Perhaps that would work. I have been told by an Oracle technical rep that this sounds like a bug... ie, implicit cursor can't track level (changes them all to 1) whereas an explicit cursor can keep things at different levels... I also found that to use a from clause query as the basis of the block I had to alias the pseudocolumn level to something like level_item or else all the levels were displayed as 0.. that also sounds like a bug to me or an idiosyncrasy at best.

  • Filtering using data from a spreadsheet in WebI

    I need to convert a BO6.5 Full client report to a BO XI R3.1 WebI report.  The report needs to use data from an Excel spreadsheet to filter data from a universe, and in 6.5 this was achieved by creating a universe for the spreadsheet data and using 'Select Query Results' as an operand returning this data in the report conditions.  When we put this report through the conversion wizard the conversion fails.
    Are there any other techniques that can be used in WebI that would allow me to use a spreadsheet to filter / join with a query from a 'regular' universe?
    Thanks,
    Steve Clarke

    Thanks for the response! I'd be interested in writing a script for it (I've actually been researching it a bit already). I'm completely new to Javascript (and scripting) but have a fair level of experience with c/c++ so I feel it shouldn't be too bad. I'll ask here for now, just let me know if I should ask a new question on the scripting forum instead.
    I've looked at the Acrobat JavaScript API Reference (http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/js_api_reference.pdf) a bit but am having trouble finding a way to read the spreadsheet's data in (I was planning on using a csv file). I found Doc.importTextData(), which can parse a tab delimited file and from the sounds of it fill in the forms automatically (though I would much prefer a c style file interface that lets me write the parsing logic). Every time I try to call importTextData it returns -1 though, which means "Warning: User Canceled File Select". When I call it direct from the JavaScript Debug Console I just get a -1, but when I have it execute when I save I get "NotAllowedError: Security settings prevent access to this property or method.". I did a bit of research on that and modified my script to look like:
    Autofill = app.trustedFunction(
        function ()
            app.trustedFunction(importTextData);
            app.beginPriv();
            var result = this.importTextData("test.csv", 0);
            app.endPriv();
            return result;
    I've also tried running Acrobat as an administrator, but I still get the same error. I could just not be understanding privileges correctly.
    My overall plan was:
        for each row in the spreadsheet
            - read the row in from the file
            - fill out the fields in the PDF using the read data
            - save the file with a new file name.
    If there is a better method to do this, just let me know.
    Thanks again for your time!

  • ODSI service using function from oracle database

    Hi ,
    I need to create a ODSI service using function from oracle database.
    I am not sure how to create a Physical Layer and Logical Layer using the function fron db.
    Kindly provide a sample . I need It ASAP. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tara

    Here's what you do.
    Create New Physical Data Service -> Relational -> MyDataSource -> Table -> SomeTable ... finish the wizard.
    So now you have a Physical Data Service that represents a database table.
    Create New Physcial Data Service -> Relational -> MyDataSource (the same one as above) -> Database Function -> Enter UPPER for the Function name, enter MyUpper fro the XQuery Function. Finish the Wizard (use something like MyUpperDs for the ds name).
    Open MyUpperDs. Right-click -> Edit Signature on MyUpper. Change the ReturnType to string, change the Occurrence to Zero or One.
    Add a parameter, change the Type to string, change the Occurrence to Zero or One.
    Save.
    Now, open the first ds you made SomeTable.ds (whatever). Run it in the test view.
    Go to the Overview tab. Create New Operation. Give it the name SOMETABLE_UPPER. Save it.
    Go to the Query Map tab, open SOMETABLE_UPPER. Drag and drop SOMETABLE (the system-generated function into the mapper. It will show a dotted line from SOMETABLE to the Return. Now drag-and-drop the SOMETABLE to the top-level element of the return type, it will show solid lines from each element in SOMETABLE to each element in the return type.
    Now, drag-and-drop MyUpperDs.MyUpper into the Query Mapper. Edit the source, find where it added the line "for $x in myd:MyUpper()" and delete that line.
    Change a line that simply returns a value to use your function, for example, change
    <FIRST_NAME>{fn:data($CUSTOMER/FIRST_NAME)}</FIRST_NAME>
    to
    <FIRST_NAME>{myd:MyUpper(fn:data($CUSTOMER/FIRST_NAME))}</FIRST_NAME>
    Click on the Plan tab and Show Query Plan. You will see that in the query plan, it is using the database UPPER function where you specified MyUpper.
    Go to the Test View and run it.

  • Cross-component: Call method of using component from within used component?

    Hi,
    I began diving into cross-component programming.
    Meanwhile after having digged into some scenarios some questions came up to my mind that I am not able to answer myself. I would appreciate your help here!
    Say we have to components.  Comp A uses Comp B (hence, B is a component usage in A)
    1) How to make them communicate not on a data level (via context binding) but on a process level, thus...
    a) can I call A's method from within B? How is the approach on a general level? - as B can be used from totally different components (like A, A1, A2 ...)
    b) perhaps the only way to do this is by firing events? If so, how can I react in A when an event in B (marked as interface event) gets fired? As it seems they do not get registered within A directly...
    I guess the question seems to be a bit tricky. Nevertheless, I think there will be plenty of you out there who used to asked them the same questions before and came up with an approach. Would be nice to hear from you.
    Best wishes,
    Marc @sap1

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply!
    Indeed, I think the nature of WDA would be just to somehow map the context from the used component to the other back and forth.
    Nevertheless, what if I would like to invoke a method of the using component from inside the used component.
    One sample for this requirement could be e.g.:
    Component B offers a tree item and a send/verify button.
    Component A uses B and has some restraints regarding what the selection should look like.
    The user taps the button in B (at runtime in the view container of A), the context gets updated in A and B and in Component A the verifyWithOwnConstraints() method gets called (through B).
    Thanks again,
    Marc

  • Separating paragraph body text from level 3, 4 & 5 headings in the TOC

    Hi,
    Could anyone help me know how the paragraph body text is separated from level 3, 4, or 5 headings in heading styles?
    The APA Manual, 6th edition says that these level headings are immediately followed by the paragraph body text; but if I do that
    and put the headings in word styles, the text is also added! How do I separate them?
    Thanks.

    If you have been using an old APA template (there is one setup for Word 2003, for example), or you have started from an old document set up for APA styling, then the chances are tht the Heading styles are set up wrongly. In those days you had to do all that
    stuff with hidden paragraph marks etc. You should not have to do that in Word 2010.
    In the old templates, the Heading styles were set up as "Paragraph" styles. You can find out which sort yours are by opening the document you are struggling with, finding the relevant Heading style name in the Home tab, Styles group, right clicking on it
    and selecting "Modify...". For the new type of Heading style, you should see Style Type "Linked (paragraph and character)". In an older template, you will just see "Paragraph".
    In the latter case, when you select the part of the paragraph text that you want to be in the ToC and apply the Heading style, the style wil be applied to the whole paragraph. That's why you used to have to split the paragraph into two, and hide the paragraph
    mark that follows the heading part. But with the correct style definitions, it should work the way I described.
    Another possibility is that you have the correct "linked" styles but they have been disabled. If you click in the box at the bottom right of the Home->Styles group, you should see the list of styles, and there is a box at the bottom that controls that
    behaviour.
    If you are using an old template, then my suggestion is that you start with a new one document o template designed for Word 2010. I'll have a look, but you may have your own sources for that.

    </xsql-error>
    </database>You can see what I'm trying to do, but I can't figure out exactly how to implement it. I want to avoid the problem of conflicting USER_ID values in the Oracle DB, so I figured, pull out the max USER_ID before submission and use that when 'row-ifying' the data to create new USER_ID which are incremented based on the position() function.
    Help? Is this even possible?
    p.s.: I realize that I might not be able to do this because the query is not a "request". Is there another way of accomplishing this task?
    p.p.s.: I don't have my XSLT book yet..
    Malik Graves-Pryor

    My book, Building Oracle XML Applications, has lots of XSLT material and examples :-)
    You should use:
    <xsql:set-stylesheet-param>
    to accomplish this. Remember again that the XML that the <xsql:insert-request> sees is not the XML of your data page, but the POSTED XML. The posted XML document will not have the maxid value in it. So, instead just use a top-level stylesheet parameter in your stylesheet:
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0">
    <!-- Top level stylesheet parameter -->
    <xsl:param name="maxid"/>
    <xsl:template match="/">
    Rest of template here.
    Refer to value of maxid in any XPath expression
    in the stylesheet with $maxid
    </xsl:stylesheet>then in your XSQL page, you use <xsql:set-stylesheet-param> instead of <xsql:query> like this:
    <xsql:set-stylesheet-param name="maxid">
    select max(user_id) from lkup_user
    </xsl:set-stylesheet-param>However -- and this is not an XSQL issue, but a general database thing -- you need to be careful about concurrency issues using the SELECT MAX() trick. If two requests come in simultaneously, they will both SELECT MAX() and get the same current maximum number, then both try to insert a new user. One will (presumably) violate your primary key constraint.
    It's better to use database SEQUENCES instead, so the numbers are guaranteed to be unique. To use a sequence you would just change your SQL statement above to be:
    SELECT yoursequencename.NEXTVAL FROM DUAL
    instead of the SELECT MAX() query.

  • Substitution - Pass all postings from level 1 WBS to lower WBS

    Dear All,
    I have defined project type X.
    For this particular project type, i want to pass on all the postings from 1st level WBS element to following level WBS elements.
    I think this is possible with Substitution. Can you please guide me how do i do this?
    Thanks
    Regards,
    Smile

    Hi Sarang, Hi Abhishek,
    Thanks for reply!
    I am sorry that i was not very clear with the question.
    In my organisation, projects are defined like this, 1st level WBS is billing element and all revenues are posted to this WBS.
    There are further levels 2,3 to each projects and i would like to distribute the revnues per WBS.
    Example: project A is defined as  - level1 WBS
    Level 2 - each of the depts working on the project.
    The man hours are booked per dept to level 2 WBS elements.
    I would like to distribute the revenues also to each of the depts from level 1 WBS by using substitutions.
    Is this possible? How?
    Regards,
    Smile

  • How to use attributes from different context nodes in one view?

    I am VERY new to the concept of CRM and currently working on creating an alternate version of the BP_HEAD_SEARCH. With help from SAPPRESSs book 'SAP CRM Web Client' i was ble to create my own simple Z-component.
    However after going back and forth the book and the forum (including this [article|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/CRM/Howtoaddanexistingfieldtoasearchpageofadifferent+component]) i was not able to find a solution to my problem. My current search uses BuilHeaderAdvancedSearch as context node for searching. But the search should also be able to use attributes from BuilActivity, which is directly related to BuilHeader. I can't seem to find a way to get attributes from BuilActivity into the search window of my component without having to change SAP-Standard.
    Is this really the only way? Please advise on possible code and insertion point.

    Any suggestions?
