  • Anyone using facelets with ADF Faces and myfaces implementation?

    There is a Howto document for using facelets with ADF Faces, but it assumes you're using Sun's RI. I'd like to use the Apache myfaces implementation of JSF with ADF and facelets, but I keep getting a NoSuchElementException thrown when the pages are accessed.
    Here's the error and stack trace:

    I followed Adam Winer's instructions for incorporating ADF with facelets (using Sun's RI) and this works fine. But when I try to swap out the Sun RI for the Apache myfaces 1.1.1 implementation I get the exception.

    It doesn't seem to matter whether I use <jsp:root xmlns..> tags or <html xmlns ..> tags or whether I use the facelet ui tags or not. I've tried it with several of the ADF components. I always get the pretty facelets exception at the bottom of the page after the ADF component displays.
    Am I missing something? Has anyone gotten these three (ADF w/ myfaces impl and facelets) to work together properly?

    Hi,
    It is supposed to work fine and is working okay, in general, for me. I was setting up a test app yesterday and logged the steps in my blog (http://www.jroller.com/page/mjdenham). I think I logged everything.

  • Using TopLink with ADF?

    I've downloaded the JDeveloper 10g preview, and I'm interested in the provided ADF features. The online Help says "When you want to create ADF application clients that work with other business services, including... TopLink mappings... see the available documentation on the JDeveloper page of OTN", but I don't see this documentation? Is it available yet? If so, could someone please post a link?
    Thanks!

  • Any sample for using Captcha with Oracle ADF ?

    Hi
    Thank you for reading my post
    is there any sample available for using captcha with adf faces ?
    thanks

    Hi,
    nott hat I am aware of. However, I started a project to build a custom JSF component using
    http://jcaptcha.sourceforge.net/
    Not sure when I have this finished, but the goal is to have this working with ADF Faces (not sure if it makes sense to bind the component to ADF though)

  • Process of login with ADF security

    Hi,
    I was looking at how to implement the process of Login with the ADF security using JDev 11g and I feel very good...
    My question is if it is possible to use this tool in case of use a container as Tomcat 6.x or JBoss. If it is possible to use ADF security for these containers, what should be configured to work?

    Hi,
    ok, I'd like to use authorization with ADF security, but as you say it is not possible in Tomcat. well, but could implement it, if there must be 3 users with different roles of the little system that I want to develop. Any idea?. There maybe a small example with user roles to use without authorization of ADF security?.

  • Flex with ADF

    Hi Shay,
    Thanks for the reply.
    In our case we will be getting pre-designed Flex UI pages with separate components. We have to logic in Business Layer to do the CRUD operations with displaying of Graphs.
    Just read Edwin Biemond [http://biemond.blogspot.com/2008/07/crud-operations-in-flex-with-adf-bc.html] posts on the same. (integration using Adobe livecycle or blazeDS).
    But still not sure how to manage and maintain this whole stack for an application having 50+ pages.
    So bit curious how to start the same.
    I have posted the same in [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/646720?tstart=0] Flex forum also. Hope to get the reply soon
    Thanks.

  • Using open source ADF

    Hi,
    does anyone know if the open source ADF can be used on a mysql database?
    And can I create graphs with the open source version of ADF?
    Regards Roel

    Hi Roel,
    Yes you can use MySQL with ADF Essentials.
    But lets not confuse free for open source. ADF Essentials is free, but not open source. I'm int he middle of writing a comprehensive how-to blog article on this, but you can piece it all together with these links below:
    1.) Download JDeveloper. I'm not sure if JDev 11.1.2.4 comes with ADF Essentials, but i know JDev 11.1.2.3 does. I used JDev 11.1.2.3 for my project.
    2.) Configure JDeveloper to run MySQL: http://jdev11g.blogspot.com/2009/04/oracle-jdeveloper-11g-with-mysql.html\
    3.) Install/Configure Glassfish with ADF Essentials: https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/deploying_oracle_adf_applications_to and http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35521_01/admin.111230/e16179/ap_glassfish.htm
    4.) Create a db connection to MySQL on JDev and make a small application - just use the normal ADF dev process to make some screens
    5.) Create JDBC MySQL Database Connection on Glassfish: http://mariosgaee.blogspot.com/2010/07/configure-mysql-connection-pool-in.html
    6.) Use Shay's blog in step 3 to deploy the application to glassfish
    7.) and Test!
    Thanks,
    Gavin

  • JDev11 with ADF backing bean examples?

    I have gone through many of the OBEs, How To examples, and a few custom examples in blog posts. Almost all of the examples that use ADF Business Components to model oracle data do not use backing beans, at least not of the ones I have found. If anyone know of links to examples that show JDeveloper using ADF to model Oracle table and using backing beans (Could be calls to the application module, whatever). Could you please post links. The examples from Oracle tend to be declarative with ADF components, and I want to get to the next level of complexity in development that combines custom code with existing declarative code.
    It would be great if a few of the OBEs could show a declarative, and also a programmatic way to solve the same problem in a few cases - such as the "Build a Fusion Web Application" in the help. I don't need everything programmatically done, just show where something can be done declarative and how it could also be done programmatically. It would also help to know the limits of declarative programming and where you would need to code a solution.
    Thanks, Ken

    What I am looking for is more clarification on both how to use and when to use backing beans.
    Here is an example that I am currently working on using jdev11u2 with ADF BC for the model and JSF.
    I have a single page. The goal is to have several filter components, then a run report. Under the run report there are several components based on select statements that use one or more of the filter components. These components are displayed as graphs (because that is what management wants to see.)
    Seems easy enough.
    I have four graphs that are desired. In my oracle schema, I use sql developer to develop four queries that return the data that I want.
    In the model, I create four view objects. Each one has a one or more binds for filters. I don't put in a default value, but make them required. Most of the views have a common bind for techID, which actually points to a different column name in each of the views, but generally has a similar meaning. I didn't create the tables, just have to live with the existing design. Sound familiar? After creating read only views that do not have EOs, I add these to the Application Module. I also create a lookup for techid that queries a table and returns two values, techname and techid. I want this to be used for a combobox to select the user to run the report on.
    Three of the queries have a date component. The idea is to have options so that the use can select from three choices, last 30 days, last 60 days, and last 90 days. I modify three of the queries in the VOs, and add a DateFilter bind that is of type Date. This happens to be oracle.jbo.domain.Date
    So to get this to work so far, I create a method named updateViews in my Application Module. I create two methods, one that receives String TechID, and another that receives String TechID and java.util.Date date. In the code for the first choice, I simple get the date 30 days ago and use that, then call the second method with both techid and the date. In the second method, I convert java.util.Date to oracle.jbo.domain.Date. I create an instance of each VO, and call a method on each named updateWithParams(String techid, Date date). The Date is automatically defined as the oracle.jbo.domain.Date. In each of my VO's, I create a method in the VOImpl.java for each that is basically the same - accepts the parameters, sets them in the where clause, then calls the execute method.
    In the form, I start simple. I drag the ExecuteWithParam method to the form from the updateView that only has the techid field as an ADF Button. I Then drag the techid parameter under this method to the form as a single selection, and set this up so that it uses my lookup for the data, displays the name, and uses the techid as the value.
    To test, I drag each of the VOs to the page as simple read only tables, not bothering to change any of the settings. This is just to make sure it is working.
    To note, the page uses an actionlistener for the button, so the code on the page for the button is:
    <af:commandButton actionListener="#{bindings.updateViews1.execute}"
      text="updateViews1"
      disabled="#{!bindings.updateViews1.enabled}"/>Everything works! Yea!
    Now to make this more interesting, I want to add the date filter.
    I delete the Command button and the combobox. I now drag the method that has two parameters. Same procedure as before, adding the techid parameter that uses the combobox that uses the lookup vo. Great so far.
    Now here is where I run into problems and am trying to understand backing beans as a possible solution.
    I need the data selection to be a radio button that has three choices: Last 30, Last 60, and Last 90. Using the drop method of the parameter to the form, it doesn't appear that I have any way to setup initial values correctly. Just to test, I dropped as an input date. In this case I can't set the default date. I get the following component on the page:
              <af:inputDate value="#{bindings.date.inputValue}"
                            required="#{bindings.date.hints.mandatory}"
                            shortDesc="#{bindings.date.hints.tooltip}">
                <f:validator binding="#{bindings.date.validator}"/>
                <af:convertDateTime pattern="#{bindings.date.format}"/>
              </af:inputDate>What I want is to be able to modify the value for #{bindings.date.inputValue}, but I don't understand how backing beans work well enough to implement this. When I try, everything gets messed up. I even tried to use a backing bean for the command button, but then I have an actionlistener, I have to create both the binding and action. I don't know if this is correct, and haven't found documentation that shows what to do.
    So this is my dilemma, I think that a backing bean will solve the problem, but need examples that incorporate both standard table bound components to ADF BC model, that I can manipulate. Eventually, I want the date component to point to a radio button. If I drop the component on the form and drop as a select one radio, this is my starting point. Now, how can I setup the values so that the 30, 60, and 90 are really SYSDATE - 30, SYSDATE - 60, and SYSDATE -90 (or java equivalent using Calendar), and still bound to the ADF component so when the command button is pressed, the correct parameters are sent.
    What is not clear is whether I need to switch out the execwithparams to backingbean functionality to call the method. Can both co-exist with actionlistener being set, and an action pointing to a backing bean?
    This is why I am requesting more examples, so that the mixing of ADF BC model bound to ADF faces components and programming code to get the compoents to work according to a specific user case can be completed.
    Thanks, Ken

  • Panel Page in ADF Faces using Facelets not rendering correctly

    Hi, I am attempting to integrate facelets into a web app built using adf faces and am running into a problem with the panel page component. I have integrated facelets and adf faces without any problems by adding relevant jars (jsf-facelets and adf-facelets) to the project and specifying alternate facelets view handler in web.xml.
    However, when I try to render any component inside <af:document> or <af:html> tags, all the font style in components seems to be lost ( all the text and input fields turn large and ugly!).
    I tried to leave out the <af:document> tag and put the <f:view> inside some vanilla html instead, but then panelPage component dosen't render properly and I get following message on top of page :
    "Skip navigation elements to page contents"
    So seem to be in a bit of a catch 22. By the way, this all works fine if I don't use facelets (remove the facelets view handler from web.xml and page renders correctly).
    Does anyone have any ideas or examples of panelPage rendering correctly with facelets or an alternative to using adf faces html tags that will allow panelpage to be displayed?
    The following is the code from a simple test jspx page :
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"

    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"

    I would love some help with this issue.  I have configured my SharePoint foundation 2010 site to use Claims Based Auth with Certificate authentication method with ADFS 2.0  I have a test account set up with lab.acme.com to use the ACS.

  • Future support for using PL/SQL core business logic with ADF BC

    We want to migrate our large Forms client/server (6i) application to ADF, possibly using a migration tool like Ciphersoft Exodus.
    One scenario could be to use ADF BC and ADF-Faces or a different JSF-Implementation for presentation and business layer but keep our heavy PL/SQL-businesslogic inside the Oracle database in packages, triggers, functions and procedures.
    This scenario could be chosen due to the huge amount of interconnected logic inside the database (10 years of development; no technical components; any package may access any table and more of this kind of dependencies). The business logic nowadays held in Forms client will be moved mainly into the database as a prerequisite to this scenario.
    Choosing this "keep-logic-in-DB"-scenario we need a good support by ADF BC to do so. We know and prototyped that it is possible to call some PL/SQL via JDBC from ADF BC and it is possible to use stored procedure calls for standard business entity data access (ins, del, upd, ..). But this does not solve our problems. We want to reuse core business logic coded in PL/SQL. This is much more than change the ADF standard behavior for an update with an own PL/SQL-call.
    Now my question:
    Will there be a kind of sophisticated support to use ADF BC in combination with database-kept logic?
    If so, when will this happen and how will the common problems of transactional state inside the database and inside the ADF BC be solved? Any plans or ideas yet?
    Many other clients do have similar applications built in Forms and PL/SQL and would be glad to hear about a path of direction.
    I've read the technical article 'understanding the ADF BC state management feature' which you have contributed to. One current limitation is pointed out there: Using PL/SQL with ADF BC limits ADF AM pooling to 'restricted level' which reduces scalability.
    Are you aware of additional main problems/tasks to solve when using PL/SQL heavily with ADF BC, which we have to think about?
    Thank you for any response.
    Ingmar

    My main problem is two 'concurrent' areas holding state in an application system based on DB-stored PL/SQL-logic in combination with ADF BC.
    For a new System everything can be made ok:
    Sure, it is possible to build a new system with the business logic included in ADF BC only. All long-living state will be handled in the BC layer ( including support for UnitsOfWork longer than the webside short HTTP-requests and HTTP-sessions and longer than the database transactions.
    For an old system these problems arise:
    1. DB data changes not reflected in BC layer:
    Our PL/SQL-logic changes data in tables without notifying the ADF BC layer (and its cache). To keep the data in ADF BC entity objects identical to the changed database content a synchronization is needed. BC does not know which part of the application data has been changed because it has not initiated the changes through its entity objects. Therefore a full refresh is needed. In a Forms4GL environment the behavior is similar: We do frequently requeries of all relevant (base)tables after calling database stored logic to be sure to get the changed data to display and to operate on it.
    -> Reengineering of the PL/SQL-logic to make the ADF BC layer aware of the changes is a big effort (notifying BC about any change)
    2. longer living database transactions
    Our PL/SQL-logic in some areas makes use of lengthy database transactions. The technical DB-transaction is similar to the UnitOfWork. If we call this existing logic from ADF BC, database state is produced which will not be DB-committed in the same cycle.
    This reduces scalability of ADF BC AM pooling.
    Example:
    a) Call a DB-stored logic to check if some business data is consistent and prepare some data for versioning. This starts a DB-transaction but does not commit it.
    b) Control is handed back to the user interface. Successful result of step a) is displayed
    c) User now executes the versioning operation
    d) Call another DB-stored logic to execute the versioning. DB-transaction is still open
    e) Business layer commits the transaction automatically after successful finishing step d). Otherwise everything from a) to e) is rolled back.
    -> redesign of this behavior (= cutting the 1to1 relation between LogicalUnitOfWork and the technicalDatabaseTransaction is a big effort due to the big amount of code.

  • Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 using JSF 1.2 portlets with ADF faces

    We are developing Portal site using Weblogic Portal 10.3.5 with JSF portlet 1.2 and ADF faces (ADF Application runtime 11.1.1.5 ). But the JSF portlets not supporting ADF faces. Please let me know how we use ADF faces in JSF portlet 1.2 in Weblogic Portal.

    Hi Murthy,
    We did a detailed analysis.
    (1) How do we add ADF taskflows, JSF in to weblogic portal desktop/pages? Do we create portlet out of JSF, and display on desktop/page? If this is the case, what about ADf task flows?
    --> Taskflows can be deployed as WSRP2.0 portlets. Note 2 options are there JSF page as portlet or taskflow itself as portlets.
    (2) How do we integrate weblogic user profiles and UUP (unified user profiles) with ADF and JSF?
    --> ADF Security can use Weblogic Server realm as the security provider. Entitlements in WLP will have to be provided based on Weblogic Server roles. In case you are using external LDAP then both can be integrated withe external LDAP
    (3) Can anybody shed some light which this better?
    (a) weblogic portal with JPF (Java page flows), NetUI --Legacy approach
    Pros:
    -Easy Development
    -Well tested integrated
    Cons:
    -Future support
    -Enhancements may not be available
    -Not really portable or standards based
    (b) weblogic portal with ADF, JSF?
    Pros:
    -If your on Oracle stack then great
    -Standards based
    Cons:
    -JSF Portlet bridge issues
    -ADF Faces does not work on IE6!
    Well what we are going for is JSR 286, Trinidad components (Supports IE6), JSF.
    Difficult choice.

  • How to use JavaScript Calendar with ADF Faces ?

    Hi All,
    Our application is running under limited bandwidth so that we want to use clientside/javascript calendar instead of the ADF Faces calendar (server side).
    I already have the javascript that will pop-up calendar selection dialog when invoked.
    Using JSP, this is working perfectly, BUT I don't know how to integrate this Javascript calendar with ADF Faces form.
    How can I do that ?
    Attached below is the JSP that works with script :
    <f:view>
    <html>
    <head>
    <script language="JavaScript" src="ts_picker.js">
    </script>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
    content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
    <title>Calendar</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <form name="tstest">
    <input type="Text" name="timestamp" value="">
    <img src="cal.gif" width="16" height="16" border="0" alt="Click here to get the date">
    </form>
    <h:form>
    </h:form>
    </body>
    </html>
    </f:view>

    Hi,
    ADF Faces does not provide a method that allows you to call JavaScript on the client. This may change in upcoming versions

  • Issu with multiselection using Checkbox in adf 11.1.1.7

    Hi Experts,
    in my  application i m using table with pagination property and i also add multiselection using boolean check box , i created boolean transient variable in VO  , and multiselection work fine but in one scenario its fail ,
    Scenario is :-
    suppose i check 3 row in table then i click next for pagination then i also check 2 row in table the i go back to first pagination where i have already check 3 values i uncheck 1 value and go next pagination where i check 2 values then i go back to first pagination (now problem is there) here i find 3 check rows  that is problem here i must found 2 check rows .uncheck is not showing in scenario.
             plz help.......................

    Hi
    if your VO  is absed on entity add the transient attribute in EO and use that atribute in VO
    if your VO is not based on EO ,then add one tarnsient attribute in EO use that attribute in VO.
    I had this issue while implemnting checkbox selection adf table.My VO is not based on EO so i have used one Entity in which i have added one transient attribute .
