Using Form Filler to Create a Database

I am not interested in any of the functions pertaining to creating fillable forms for distribution.  Rather, this post pertains to creating a fillable form on my desktop and then figuring out how, if possible, to save, sort and search the data for each record.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.
I used to have a great old program called Omniform which created fillable forms but then allowed one to input multiple sets of data.  In other words, it was both a fillable forms program and a self-contained databse allowing the entry of multidutes of records per form (that were also sortable and searchable by field).    Does Adobe do this also or is it just a "flat" form filler (requiring each record to be saved as a separate file)?

    You have to connect with a database user who has right to select on the table.

  • Acrobat X Form Filler

    In using form filler is there a way I can make a universal change to the font and have all fonts at Times Roman 11 pt? Can I use a carriage return to widen the box?  Is form filler available on Acrobat 9?

    OK, let's try to get some terminology fixed. You have a document that you have created as a PDF that looks like a form (it is not a form in the PDF sense). You are now trying to create form fields that can be filled in that gives you a form PDF. The first question is which product are you using to create the form, Acrobat or Designer? If you do not get transferred to Designer from Acrobat and get a forms tool in Acrobat you are creating an AcroForm.
    You can right click on a text field and select to edit the properites. It is common to leave the text to be automatic in size. However, you can set the font if you wish. I think you can select several fields and do the property change to all at the same time, but am not sure. Instructions for forms are in the manual (see the help menu). There are also license restrictions for allowing saving of the form for Reader and also considerations for using e-mail submission of the form data (both does the Reader and e-mail of a user communicate properly and be careful about private datta being sent by e-mail). Good luck.

  • How to Create Public database link in oracle 9i?

    Friends,
    OS: RHEL AS 3
    DB: 9iR2
    database name 1 = nubul
    database name 2 = test
    in the 'nubul' database server using system user.
    i created a database link to connect the 'test' database
    sql> create public database link test using 'test';
    database link created.
    then i logged in as normal user....

    Error at line 1:
    ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name
    where i am making mistake?
    i gave the linkname as my remote database name.
    am i have to make any entry in the tnsnames.ora?
    thanks & regards

    You have to remember that when you access a dblink, the database where the link is defined is acting as a client to the database to which the link points ... exactly the same as if you you were using sqlplus on the machine hosting the db where the link is defined. In other words, given:
    Host 'Host-src', with database 'db-src', with a dblink 'lk_target'
    Host 'host-trgt', with database 'db-trgt'
    When you connect to db-src and access lk-target, db-src is now acting as a client to db-trgt. Exactly as if you had opened sqlplus on host-src and connected directly to db-trgt. So, given the above scenario
    host-src$> sqlplus scott/tiger@db-src
    sql> select * from emp@lk_target;when you execute that SELECT to the link, the same tns considerations are in effect as if you had
    host-src$> sqlplus scott/tiger@db-trgtThe same tnsnames.ora entry, on the source machine, is required for both.

  • Calling web service in Oracle Applications using Forms....

    Can I call a web service in Oracle Appications 11.5.10?
    I created a simple form on my local machine and invoked the webservice in that form and it works perfectly. I used Oracle forms 9i and 6i for this purpose and both are working perfectly.
    But when I created the same form on the UNIX server and imported the Java Class and placed that form in Oracle Applications and tried to invoke the web service it is not working.
    I am using Forms 6i for creating the form in Oracle Applications.
    Are there any other factors that I am neglecting?
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks.........

    Hi,
    could you please explain here the detailed steps (with code example if it's possible) to invoke a webservice from Oracle Applications?.. how did yo do it...?
    I've read differents posts here and the 33097.1 metalink note (by the way, the first recommended link in this note is broken...), but there are lots of theorical concepts and no real examples to see how/from where invoke the WS
    I'll have to call one webservice (I suppose the customer will give me the interface implementation)...but I've never did it with Applications so that's why I ask you for all the detailed steps...
    I work with Forms 6i, Apps 11.5.10.2 and DB 9.2.0.7.
    Thanks a lot.

    Yes, that's right.
    I have fixed this error.
    At the same time, I found a bug when installing Oracle EBS DEMO. That is,
    FORM60_PATH in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE,is $AU_TOP\11.5.0\resource;$AU_TOP\11.5.0\form\us; But another one in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HOME2 is $AU_TOP\11.5.0\resource;$AU_TOP\11.5.0\plsql. I think the second one is the working path used by Form Builder. Correcting it to be same with the first one will be OK. Or you can change all of them to your own working path.
    PS: Form builder is installed in the server PC which I only have:)

  • Creating new databases after latest security patch applied

    10.2.0.4
    If I create a database AFTEr applying the opatch for the October 2009 security patch, do I need to also run:
    @catbundle.sql cpu apply
    Or is it included in the create database? I use the DBCA to create new databases.

    Once the bundle patch or the Critical Patch Update (CPU) patch is applied on an ORACLE_HOME should you run post-installation scripts for every newly created Oracle database using the same ORACLE_HOME?
    Solution
    This should be documented in the patch's README as the answer will vary with each patch.
    If the patch's README is not documented, then the Post Install tasks should be run.
    And this is what the OCTCPU09 README says:
    3.3.3 Post Installation Instructions for Databases Created or Upgraded after Installation of CPUOct2009 in the Oracle Home
    These instructions are for both non-RAC environments and RAC environments when a database is created or upgraded after the installation of CPUOct2009.
    You must execute the steps in Section 3.3.2.1, "Loading Modified .sql Files into the Database" for any new database only if it was created by any of the following methods:
    Using DBCA (Database Configuration Assistant) to select a sample database (General, Data Warehouse, Transaction Processing)
    Using a script that was created by DBCA that creates a database from a sample database
    Hope that helps.Point taken that it could vary by patchset, but those particular instructions quoted square exactly with what I had said. To quote with emphasis:
    "You must execute the steps . . . for any new database *only if* it was created by any of the following methods . . ."
    And what are those methods? Creating the database from a sample (pre-patch) database. If one uses dbca to create a 'custom' database, the resulting scripts will start from scratch with a CREATE DATABASE command - no pre-patch version sample or seed database involved.

  • Labview database problem: Create a database table from user defined fields

    I am trying to create a new table in an access database opened by an ODBC connection from information entered a table stored in the database, but every time I try to create the table, the Labview Database connectivity toolkit VI for creating a table throws a cryptic error
    "Exception occured in Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in field definition. in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Conn Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlibB Tools Create Table.vi->DatabaseCreateHeaders.vi"
    I think this is becuase I am trying to re-create the database  column variable type, but I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  Everything seems to be fine as the data types go, and everything works as long as I use a constant to create the database columns.  I even tried putting all of the information into the format labview defined, changed that to a variant, and redefined it as the labview database column type.
    I have attached a simplified VI and a picture of what I am trying to

    Hi everyone. I am new to the database tool kit using labview. I am using labview 9.0f2 on Windows Xp. I am required to create a database (task is to create a table and to insert values into the table using Microsoft access 2007). I am trying to learn using the Create Database table.vi found with the software. I understand that need to create an access file and also had a mdl file which is name after it.(I had created them). Looking at the example given, I would like to add a few more variables, to be exact 6 more variables(therefore i would have 6 colum in my access file rite?). From the "connection information" the help information shows that it contain an 1D array of DB tools colum. ctl and also a cluster of 4 elements. the link to the access file, LabVIEW.udl shows that it restrict the colum in the access file.eg it has only stringcol,intcol,doublecol. I need to add more colum but cant add just like tt.
    qn1: How to i add insert more varibles into the database so that it will apprears in access.
    qn2: I cant drag and insert the "connection information" just to have more input. how do i do it?
    qn3: where can i edit the info so that i can add more cluster into the access? when i drag out the input turn greyish.

    if u want to avoid using the Forms_ddl package
    use stored procedure or create a sql querry record group.

    What levels of Acrobat are needed to use forms created in Acrobat Pro 9? I want to use my form as a job ticket but want to know what levels of adobe reader are needed for the end users to be able to fill out & submit the forms without any problems.

    Reader 7 and higher should be able to fill out forms and submit if the pdf format allows Reader 7 to fill out the form. However, without problems is a different issue. Submission of forms via email is ALWAYS a problem. It is always better to post the form on a website and have the form filled out on the web and have the data stored or sent to a database for further action.

    hi
    How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform
    Solution
    Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
    here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
    Note: Oracle_Home is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
    Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
    Oracle_Home with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
    copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
    1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
    and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
    2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
    C:\webutile is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
    cd C:\webutile
    copy jacob.jar Oracle_Home\forms\java\.
    copy jacob.dll Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\.
    The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
    3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
    Open a DOS command prompt.
    Add Oracle_Home\jdk\bin to the PATH:
    set PATH=Oracle_Home\jdk\bin;%PATH%
    Sign the files, and check the output for success:
    Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
    Oracle_Home\forms\webutil\sign_webutil Oracle_Home\forms\java\jacob.jar
    4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
    you may skip this step. Otherwise,
    Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
    connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
    for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
    Open Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
    out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
    errors.
    Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
    CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
    DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
    TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
    GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
    CONNECT webutil/webutil@rcci
    @Oracle_Home\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
    -- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
    CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
    Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
    grant execute on webutil_db to public;
    5) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\default.env, and append Oracle_Home\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
    to the CLASSPATH entry.
    6) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\formsweb.cfg insde [default] add :
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar
    archive=frmall.jar
    also add :
    [webutil]
    WebUtilLogging=off
    WebUtilLoggingDetail=normal
    WebUtilErrorMode=Alert
    WebUtilDispatchMonitorInterval=5
    WebUtilTrustInternal=true
    WebUtilMaxTransferSize=16384
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
    baseHTMLjpi=webutiljpi.htm
    baseHTML=webutilbase.htm
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar
    WebUtilArchive=frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,f90all.jar
    archive=frmwebutil.jar,f90all.jar
    lookAndFeel=oracle
    7) Modify Oracle_Home\forms\server\webutil.cfg and add :
    transfer.database.enabled=TRUE
    transfer.appsrv.enabled=TRUE
    8) Start the OC4J instance
    9) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
    Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
    It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in Note 303682.1
    If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
    full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
    10) Create a new FMB.
    Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
    There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
    Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
    Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
    NULL;
    to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
    Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
    show_webutil_information (TRUE);
    in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
    Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
    11) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
    the "Application Server URL" is empty.
    Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
    http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
    12) Run your form.

  • How do I use auto-form recognition to create PDF forms in Acrobat XI?

    I used to use Acrobat 9 to create PDF forms that would allow me to fill in text into the fields that were created.  Acrobat XI seems to have changed the way this function is performed.  Previously, I could run an auto form recognition wizard, do some minor tweaking, and be done.  Now, when I attempt to follow the process in Acrobat XI, I get the following message that pops up:  "No new form field annotations were detected.", and no fields get created.  I could do this manually, but the process of doing so is very clunky and cumbersome.  Once I create a new text field, I must then go back and resize it.  This would not be a problem if I was only working with a few fields on a single page, but I have a six page document with multiple fields to create (text fields, check box fields, etc.).  Perhaps I'm missing something, but there seems to be no simple way to do this anymore.  It's making me want to just install Acrobat 9, so that I will have back the feature that I used to have.  I'm using Acrobat XI on Mac, but I'm assuming the function should be the same in Windows.  I can use Preview on the Mac to simply type in the text that I need, but I was hoping to pass along the PDF so that others can use it as well.  This is not just a one time thing.

    There are no APIs for C# and external applications for this conversion.  There is however an API for Acrobat plugins to perform this operation.   So, if necessary, you could write a custom plugin (that calls the API you need) and expose that via some form of IPC to your C# app.

A proper analysis of your data, and how the different data elements will dictate how many tables, what they contain, and how they relate. I can almost guarantee trying to use a single table is a mistake. That's why we call them relational databases, not just data dumps.
