Using Gallium Drivers

Hi everyone,
I am new to Arch (2nd day) and kind of not-up-date on Linux, as I have used FreeBSD as my main OS for the last years. I have a Radeon x850XT and want to use the Gallium drivers rather then classic Mesa.
I have read
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mesa_r300g_xorg
and I tried with mesa-r300g-xorg, but that conflicts with packages that are essentiell to almost everything. I haven't found a way to resolve these conflicts and also this package is rather old.
Then again, my DRI claims to bring the Gallium drivers:
extra/ati-dri 7.10.0.git20110206-2 [installed]
    Mesa DRI + Gallium3D r300 drivers for AMD/ATI Radeon
However, setting "r300g" as Xorg driver always fails. Is it that my xorg server does not yet have the proper state trackers? How do I go about this whole thing without completely screwing up my package management?
Thanks for your help!

I don't know about ati-dri and gallium but you don't set gallium in xorg.conf.
Either the gallium driver is in the default paths before the mesa classic driver or you have to set the variable LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH to the path that contains your r300_dri.so.
For example
export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri_g
In /etc/profile or in ~/.bashrc.
(as opposed to "/usr/lib/xorg/modules/dri" being the default path for mesa classic modules)
At least this is the path that mesa-full-gallium from the inofficial radeon repository puts its drivers in
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=79509
I personally would recommend that repository (though maybe not the kernel from there) because they are built from git and should be more recent. But then this maybe introduces new problems.
For this installing problems: yes, pacman sometimes isn't too smart.
But it is always possible:
You maybe need pacman -Rd (or -Rdd?) to remove packages without dependency check before being able to install the desired package. You should just be careful that the new packages really provide everything you remove first.

  • Is there OpenCL support using Mesa Drivers?

    I have an AMD A10-7850K and would like to use OpenCL in Libreoffice and also other applications.
    What I have found in Libreoffice Calculator if I go to tools>options>OpenCL
    everything is fine
    in the subsection LibreOffice Calc>Formula
    I can set Custom (use OpenCL) but after closing it turns back to default.
    If i click Details and run the test all tests fail.
    According to http://dri.freedesktop.org/wiki/GalliumCompute/
    SeaIsland chips like mine should be supported.
    According to the wiki
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Op … Gallium.29
    mesa is not built with opencl (2004)
    but when I look into the recent PKGBUILD i have opencl enabled
    ./configure --prefix=/usr \
    --sysconfdir=/etc \

    --with-clang-libdir=/usr/lib
    If i execute
    $ ls /etc/OpenCL/vendors
    i get mesa.icd
    if I run any opencl tests from

    all tests fail

  • Can I use LINUX Drivers in Solaris 10...

    As a beginner, I have installed Solaris 10 version 08/07 onto my system. The motherboard is ASUS M2A-VM, with integrated graphics, network interface, audio, etc...
    My audio and network interface are not working... The motherboard came with a cd which has windows drivers and additional software.
    It also has linux drivers for:
    Audio:
    Core5
    Core6
    Linux
    RHEL4
    SUSE10
    Other
    realtek-linux-audiopack-4.05f
    LAN
    FreeBSD
    Linux
    SCO_OpenServer6
    Unixware7.x
    Chipset, and RAID!
    Has anyone used any of these ASUS Linux drivers with Solaris...
    If so what steps do I need to take to get them to work on my system! (I hate to ask, I know you all have better things to do) Maybe you can point me to a good book that explains how to go step by step...
    My question is how do I get my NIC to work (What steps do I need to follow? the sound is not an issue, as, I can do with out that. Will any of the drivers mentioned above work?) thank you in advance for your answers...

    Drivers are the "connective tissue" between the Operating System and the hardware. The connections from the drivers to the OS are not compatible between different operating systems, so no, you cannot use Linux drivers in Solaris.
    If the OS is similar enough you can sometimes get away with it -- example, using Solaris 9 drivers in Solaris 10. But between completely different OSes? Won't work.

  • Using IVI drivers in LabView 5.1.1

    Hi,
    We have a set of IVI drivers ( class specific and custom specific ) developed in LabWindows/CVI 7 and IVI Compliance package 2.2 version. We want to use these drivers in a new application in LabView 5.1.1 version. I want to use the class specific drivers through the IVI class drivers in LabView 5.1.1 so as to cater for the interchangeability aspect configuring the logical names in MAX. Finally I would be creating an Installer with executable and distributing it.
    I want to clarify few issues.
    1. Please let me know whether I need to install any other software's apart from NI DAQ, IVI compliance package 2.2 and the Installer in the User PC. Does the IVI engine, Tool set, Class drivers for LabView 5.1.1 come with the compliance package?
    2. Does MAX 2.1 support IVI drivers, interchangeability through class drivers and compliance package 2.2 or should I use MAX 3.0 for best results?
    3. When I import a IVI driver (developed using IVI compliance package 2.2) to LabView 5.1.1 and try to use the functions there are some problems in the functions. As per the IVI specifications 3.2, functions GetErrorInfo and ClearErroInfo are changed to GetError and ClearError. But it shows error in the functions at those points and we have to go to IVI Error Converter.vi and change the configuration of the library node and direct it to the GetError function. Do we have an alternative to avoid this process?
    It would be of great help if somebody can clear these issues.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Siddu

    1.  The IVI Compliance Package (ICP) 2.2 installs the IVI Engine and Class Driver support for LabVIEW 7.0 and 7.1.  It does not install Class Drivers for LabVIEW 5.1.
    2.  ICP 2.2 requires MAX 3.0 to get the IVI interchangeability provider in MAX.
    3.  LabVIEW 5.1 was released before the official IVI specifications 3.2 were approved.  Prior to 3.2, the function names were GetErrorInfo and ClearErrorInfo.  Those changed to GetError and ClearError.  The LabVIEW wrapper generation tool that shipped with LabVIEW 5.1 is not aware of these changes.  Therefore, my suggestion is to upgrade to a later version of LabVIEW so that you will have support for the current IVI specifications and class drivers.

  • Using MM drivers

    Hi,
    Product:           Java Web Application
    Operating system:     Linux (Redhat 7.3)
    Web Server:          Apache
    Application server:     Tomcat 4.0.4
    Database server:     MySQL 3.23.49
    Java Architecture:     JSP (presentation) + Java Bean (Business logic)
         One page that uses a complex SQL query to the database is taking quite a long time (even 30+ seconds sometimes) when one of the corresponding tables is populated with more than 300,000 records. Using the same query directly on MySQL fetches the result in less than a second. The server is having 2 GB RAM and dual processors. The load on the server is also not high.
         We have been using MM drivers for connecting Tomcat and MySQL in our application. Can anybody say what could be wrong?
    Thanks in advance.
    Srikanth. S.

    Hi
    I don't know the exact implementation details of ur project. Any how, are you using a database connection pool or creating a database connection for every request?. If u create a new database connection for every query the connection overhead will be added to the fetch time. Check with this.

    Can I use / find drivers for an HP Deskjet 3520e on OSX 10.4.11

    Thanks for suggestion but HP Support Center don't support the HP Deskjet 3520 e.
    Our old iMac wont upgrade to "snow-leopard"  -   the drivers supplied with the printer are not backwards compatible beyond IOS 10.6.  We are max-updated at 10.4.11.
    Tried a "gimp" (?) set of drivers which goes through an auto-install but I can't see or select the drivers.
    Find it hard to believe that there is no solution

  • PXI 4070 use DAQmx Drivers

    I have replaced a PXI 4060 card with a PXI 4070 card in a PXI 1042 chassis that I use for resistance measurements.  I want to use DAQmx drivers instead of the traditional daq drivers.  How can I do this?
    My controlling software is VB6.  I have had issues with traditional daq on Windows XP machines with new NI installations.  Errors indicate there is an issue with the traditional daq drivers.  The sample applications installed with the niDMM 2.7 installation error with message "Error Loading Driver Module".  I have used the palbase utility in the past to work around this issue, however, the palbase utility is not failing to change the base address.  There is an error message associated with the failure, but I figure I may save myself the headache by switching to DAQmx drivers.

    I would recommend upgrading to the niDMM 3.0.4 drivers found here.  This version is still compatible with Visual Basic 6.0 and Windows XP.  niDMM 2.7 would have installed NI-DAQ 8.5.  The name indicates that it is traditional DAQ, but as far as I can tell, version 8.5 was only DAQmx.  3.0.4 will also install a newer version of DAQmx that is compatible with XP, as well as the examples.  It seems that the version you have should have worked, but there may be some corruption, or there may have been a version of traditional DAQ 8.5 at some time (we had some versions of NI-DAQ that included both traditional DAQ and DAQmx).  I hope this helps!
    Thanks,

  • OAS and using JDBC-drivers from EJB

    Hi.
    I have a problem with accessing the database from EJB-components
    deployed to OAS 4.0.8. The database is 8.1.5-version. I'm trying
    to use a connection exactly like it is documented in OAS-EJB-
    documents, the connection string looks like this:
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection
    ("jdbc:oracle:jts8:@ora8i");
    And this is the error that above sentence it generates:
    "Sub Protocol must be specified in connection URL".
    The DAD(ora8i) is created in OAS.
    Now, I don't even know if this uses JDBC/OCI or thin since the
    documented connection-string doesn't contain that information. I
    quess it must use OCI-drivers, at least I should use them and
    they should be installed with OAS.
    So:
    * I should use only jts-enabled JDBC-drivers when developing EJB-
    components, is this right?
    * How can I connect to the database (from OAS 4.0.8 to Oracle
    8i), the string please?
    Thanks,

  • Is there a way to hear sounds in FF while using ASIO drivers for system audio ?

    I'd like to be able to hear sounds from FF (audio /mp3 , audio from video ) when using music applications which perform better with ASIO drivers - ASIO4ALL.
    At present I can only get audio out of FF if using system primary sound driver : when I switch to ASIO or ASIO4ALL I get audio from music apps, but lose audio in FF.
    Is there a way to set the FF audio handler to pick up whatever the system is using for sound - or specifically to choose which installed sound drivers to work with ?
    Thanks.

    So in Windows 7 after opening control panel / sounds / playback , then selecting the appropriate playback device/ speakers, then properties / advanced , then deselecting "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device", the issue is fixed - ASIO through DAW software while audio playback continues in FF, if I use ASIO drivers supplied with sound hardware - UX1. First testing, though, shows this not working with ASIO4ALL - perhaps a Windows and not a FF issue ...

  • [SOLVED]Issues with Radeon card using Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe driver

    I'm using the open source drivers with an HD6670 video card. It seems that my system will not load the proper 3D acceleration drivers. I am a member of the "video" group.

  • Keyboard does not work after using Support Drivers

    I have a Macbook Pro 4,1 15" 2.4GHz C2D, and managed to get Bootcamp installed on it with Win7 Home Pro. I have verified that it runs correctly, but it is missing many of the drivers needed to make things run smoothly. I no longer have my Leopard disks that the machine came, so I figured the WindowsSupportDrivers would be the way to go.
    When I install them and reboot, the keyboard does not work. When I hit capslock, I get the caution notice indicating underneath my password field indicating the capslock key is on, so it's not like my entire keyboard is disabled. The system is unusable right now, since I have to enter my password to login, and it does not take any keyboard input. Using an external keyboard did not resolve this issue.
    I did a system restore to get it back to a usable state for the time being.
    Is there an alternative to the BCA support drivers or the Leopard disk? What's going on with my keyboard after the driver update?

    Maybe you have installed obsolete drivers. If you have Lion, open Boot Camp Assistant (Applications > Utilities) in OS X and download Boot Camp drivers

  • HOW TO CREATE AND USE ModbusSlave drivers ?

    the idea is to have a ModbusSlave driver to test the applications developed as Master modbus; with both drivers running in the same computer in both com 1 and com 2.

    This is an excellent idea for troubleshooting, which we have been using and recommending for long. ModbusSlave Object simulates a Modbus PLC within Lookout. This can be used to test and troubleshoot the functioning of the Modbus driver object without requiring an actual PLC/RTU.
    To use the ModbusSlave object, create the Object as if your PC were the PLC. So, assign it a COM port, baud rate, etc. Let's say you assign it COM2.
    Now, create the drive Modbus object on COM1. Then, physically connect the two COM ports with a null-modem (crossed) serial cable. So, basically you fool the Modbus driver object that there's a Modbus PLC out there but you loop-back and connect to the other COM port and use the ModbusSlave.
    Once you've done this, you can
    simulate some values within the Slave by connecting some Pots to the Slave's registers. You can then try reading these with the driver Modbus object, etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • I can access a function in a package using OCI drivers but not PDO drivers

    Hello all, i am a newbie to Oracle and its drivers for PHP. I would like to use PDO, and I have my database activity in packages, which have procedures and functions. My package has overloaded functions and that has been giving me a tough time with these drivers. So one signature of my function get_data contains a four arguments and all four are numbers, while another signature of get_data has the first two as numbers and the next two as varchar2. So when I try to access this function which is part of a package, I am able to retrieve data, and the driver I am using is OCI8, but when I try to do the same with PDO, it does not work. It gives me this error,
    *General error: 6553 OCIStmtExecute: ORA-06553: PLS-307: too many declarations of 'GET_DATA' match this call  (/var/www/php-5.3.3/ext/pdo_oci/oci_statement.c:146)' in /var/www/pdo_check.php:251 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/pdo_check.php(251): PDOStatement->execute() #1 /var/www/pdo_check.php(345): dbPDO->execPackage2() #2 {main} thrown in /var/www/pdo_check.php on line 251 *
    I got this error earlier with OCI drivers, then I added the datatype while binding the values.
    Has anybody had this headache earlier??
    ##Works
    *$qu = oci_parse($connect, 'select pack.get_data(:p1,:p2,:p3,:p4)as rc from dual');
    $p1 = (int)121;
    $p2 = (int)222;
    $p3 = (int)324;
    $p4 = (int)001;
    oci_bind_by_name($qu,":p1",$p1,10,OCI_B_INT);
    oci_bind_by_name($qu,":p2",$p2,10,OCI_B_INT);
    oci_bind_by_name($qu,":p3",$p3,10,OCI_B_INT);
    oci_bind_by_name($qu,":p4",$p4,10,OCI_B_INT);
    oci_execute($qu) or die("did not execute");
    $r = oci_fetch_array($qu);*
    ##Does not work
    *$sql = 'select pack.get_data(:p1,:p2,:p3,:p4) from dual';
    $result = $this->dbConnect->prepare($sql);
    $p1 = (int)2;
    $p2 = (int)2;
    $p3 = (int)2;
    $p4 = (int)6;
    $result->bindParam(':p1', $p1, PDO::PARAM_INT);
    $result->bindParam(':p2', $p2, PDO::PARAM_INT);
    $result->bindParam(':p3', $p3, PDO::PARAM_INT);
    $result->bindParam(':p4', $p4, PDO::PARAM_INT);
    $result->execute();*
    I am still perplexed why is PDO giving me an error, when I have virtually mentioned everything is asks for?

    I think the only person who can really answer this question is Chris Jones. For my money I tend to steer clear of PDO as it is a bit quirky ( at least in my experience ) and it does not support reference cursors.

  • How to use Labview drivers for USB-CAN Adapter

    Hi,
    I just recently started working with CAN and I have a PCAN-USB adapter. I'm trying to create a programme for monitoring a series of CAN based devices and I've found Labview drivers at the link below. However, I'm not really sure how to start. I have the specs for the device but I don't know how to proceed.
    Should I create messages and channels and a data base in MAX first?  If anyone has programmed with this dongle before please give me a guide how you went about it.
    Labview drivers - http://www.labviewportal.eu/en/device-i-o/82-pcan-usb-driver.
    Thanks

    I have not used this specific CAN adapter, but I have used other CAN adapters from both NI and other companies.  The CAN database in MAX is useful only if you are using an NI CAN device.  For all other CAN devices you need to use the format that the library uses; most likely that will be raw CAN frames.
    If you do want to use the NI-CAN interface on top of the PCAN library, you can use NI-CAN virtual channels 255 and 256.  These are internally connected, so that anything you send on one is received on the other.  This makes it possible to do translation between raw frames and channels defined in a database, by opening one interface for frames and the other for channels.  You read raw frames from the real device and send them to CAN255, then read them on CAN256; for writing, you do the opposite.  However, this still requires understanding how to read and write raw frames on the underlying device, so I'd start there.

  • Unable to kill X using Catalyst drivers

    My problem is that once I'm in X I can't drop back to the console.  The computer starts in console and then I start X manually with "startx".  That all works but once I'm there, I can't back out.  I'm using XFCE and I've tried ctrl+alt+F2-F6.  That just leaves me with a black screen but I'm able to go back to X using ctrl+alt+F1.  I've also tried hitting the "Log Out" button and that just leaves me at a completely black screen with no way that I know of to get back to X or get to a console.  My only recourse there was to ctrl+alt+delete to reboot the system (which didn't give any output until after it rebooted).  I'm using the Catalyst 13.2 Beta drivers from catalyst-test in the AUR.  This all worked flawlessly when using the open source drivers.

    the sad clown wrote:Why don't you just kill the end process in .xinitrc?
    Not sure what you mean by that.  Anyway, I narrowed the problem down to that AUR package catalyst-test.  The Catalyst 13.1 from [community] doesn't have this issue.
