Using Guided Nav. Link to realize requeats swapping in dashboard

Hello,
I faced a problem when I use the Guided Nav. Link in dashboard,
I want to realize requeats swapping in dashboard.
I have a prompt, there are two values, 'SALES' and 'BUDGET', and I have set a presentation variable named 'pv'.
I have create two request, and each request has included three columns, the 'request1' is including 'YEAR', 'SALES', 'TYPE'.
The 'TYPE' value is 'SALES', and I had set a filter in this request, is equal to 'pv' .
The 'request2' including 'YEAR', 'BUDGET', 'TYPE', The 'TYPE' value is 'BUDGET', and I also had set a filter in this request, is equal to 'pv' .
Now I put the prompt in dashboard, and set two Guided Nav. Link,
one is point to 'request1', specify ‘Reference from Source request’ as ‘Yes’, source request as ‘request1’ , show section as ‘if request returns rows’,
'Request or Dashboard' was point to 'request1'.
Another is point to 'request2', specify ‘Reference from Source request’ as ‘Yes’, source request as ‘request2’ , show section as ‘if request returns rows’,
'Request or Dashboard' was point to 'request2'.
now when I select 'SALES' in prompt, it will show link to 'request1', when I select 'BUDGET', it will show link to 'requeat2'.
I want to ask how can I show the table/chart directly, not only show a link.
How to do it?
Thank you!

Don't use Guided Navigation Link Dashboard object here. Instead use 2 section with Guided Navigation Conditional Section to show the section which inturn will show the reports embedded into it (add these two reports to two different sections) and not the link. Click on section and the conditional navigation option will be there.
Hope its clear
Thank you!

  • Facing issue in PDF print on using Guided Navigation Link on dashboard

    Hi,
    I am facing one issue on using Guided Navigation Link on dashboard.
    I have created one Guided Nav. Link on dashboard and renamed it as "RAW DATA".
    It was working fine.It is coming as RAW DATA link and when I am clicking on the link it is drilling down.
    Till now it is working fine and good.
    But in Printer friendly option of dashboard when I am selecting PDF option( To save it as PDF) it was showing text "Guided Nav Link 1" instead of "RAW DATA" in the downloaded pdf.
    Please give me some solution.
    Thanks in Advance
    Santanu Manna

    Try this:
    1) Drag Guid. Nav. Link to dashboard in a new section.
    2) Click on properties of the Guid. Nav. Link object.
    3) For the source request, click on browse and navigate to the report.
    4) In the Link Properties, check the "Use Dashboard Oject name as link object" checkbox and click "OK."
    5) Click on the Rename button of the Guid. Nav. Link object.
    6) Type in the name you wish to appear in the link and click "OK."
    When you click on Print>PDF, the name of the link will appear in the pdf instead of "Guid. Nav Link 1."

  • Guided Nav. Link does not open in a new page

    Hi,
    I am using Guided navigation links in OBIEE dashboards to link some of my reports.
    When i click on the Link it opens the report on the same page. Instead i have to open the report in a new page. This Option is available in 'Link OR Image' section, not in 'Guided Nav. Link' section. Please suggest me if there is any way to achieve this.
    I am using 'Guided Nav. Link' because I need to feed the dashboard prompt values to the navigated reports and this option is not available in 'Link OR Image' .
    Please help me out

    Hi
    We have the same need: from within a report we have guided navigation to a detail report, that uses the values of the record in the master report as filterparameters. When clicking a row in the master report , we should open the detail report in a new window, while leaving the master report in the dashboard open. How can we achieve this?
    Swami just mentioned the Link or Image object to indicate that this possibility of choosing the same or a new window is present there, and asked where to find the same choosing option for guided navigation.

  • OBIEE 11g Guided Navigation Link

    Hi All,
    In 10g I used the guided nav link to link main menu page with hidden dashboard page, so that also presentation variable is passed to the report published on the hidden page.
    I'm not able to find this on 11g, if I use a link to the hidden page the presentation variable is not pass to the report even if this presentation variable is created on a dashboard prompt.
    Any Idea?
    Regards,
    Daniele

    Hi Balaa ,
    That doesn't what Daniele try to achieve . We are clearly missing the Guided navigation for passing the value assigned under presentation variable of the prompt.
    It is not to address how to set the prompt in different scope .

  • Using the nav bar to link to another page.

    It is possible to use the nave bar to link to another page such as a blog?
    Example:
    Welcome About Me My Photos Blog (linked to external blog such as blogger)

    If you want the link to the external page to appear in the default navbar then do the following:
    1 - create a blank page and name it the way you want it in the navbar.
    2 - add an HTML Snippet to that page with the following code in it:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "URL TO THE EXTERNAL PAGE"; </script>
    What this does is automatically redirect the viewer to the external page when the link in the navbar is clicked on.
    My Demo Sites are setup this way. The Contents page for each site is redirected to a separate Contents site which contains the index of all the pages in the three demo sites. That way I only have to change the index on the Contents site instead of doing it for each site individually.
    If you want the other page to open in a new window you'll have to create a separate text based hyperlink and use the Inspector/Link pane to link the text to it and check the open in new window option. If you need to have that in the navbar you can create a texbased navbar, hide the default one and set your links as needed in the Inspector/Link pane. This is a demo page of a Text Based Navbar.

  • Confused as to why you shouldn't use imgs as nav links

    I was going to create a horizontal nav bar using text as
    image because I want the text links to be a particular font. People
    keep saying this is a bad idea because the search engines can't
    recognize images. Why does it matter if Google can read my nav
    links? What do people do if they want their nav bar links to be in
    a funky or different font?

    The site was built before that article was written! 8)

    i have 5 html pages that share a common header, footer, and sidebar. how do i use my nav bar to change the content of the body without duplicating a lot of code? thank you!

    i inherited the website. It’s for a non-profit and is not very
    sophisticated, and neither am I in webdesign. It currently has multiple
    pages that are identical except for that body section, so whenever i change
    the navigation (in the sidebar) I have to update every html page.  I want
    to have one basic page, and just call in the different body content based
    on the link the user selects from the nav bar. How can i do that using a
    script? i am using Dreamweaver.

  • ? about persistent indicator and use of nav tag

    Hi,
    I have read Nancy O's informative article on persistent indicators.  I think I have everything almost working.  However, I get some errors when I validate on W3C validation service.
    The errors I get are:
    Line 22, Column 23: document type does not allow element "body" here
        <body class="live">
    Line 23, Column 9: element "nav" undefined
        <nav>
    Line 37, Column 10: end tag for "body" omitted, but OMITTAG NO was specified
        </div>
    You may have neglected to close an element, or perhaps you meant to "self-close" an element, that is, ending it with "/>" instead of ">".
    Any thoughts on what I have done wrong.  I have pasted the code for both the page and the relevant include below.  Also, I had two questions about the use of the nav.  What happens to my menu when it is viewed in an older browser that doesn't support nav?  Also, could one have an upper and lower menu bar using the nav tag with different CSS properties?

    Regarding my navigation menu bar, I had originally used a  <div id="bottomnavbar"> and then defined in CSS as #bottomnavbar to stylize/format.  However, when was having trouble getting the persistent indicator to work, while discussing this problem another frequent poster told me to not use div for menu bar and instead use nav tag which I did.  However, I still have the concern that folks with older browsers won't be able to view the menu correctly.  From what I have read, I could add the following to the head (after any CSS links) and then the nav menu would be able to be viewed correctly on older browsers.  Am I correct in that assumption?
    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
      <script src="http://html5shiv.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
    <![endif]-->
    Yes, you are correct - the script above makes any html5 tag such as <nav></nav> compatible with IE8 and below. but I personally don't really make much of an effort to support IE8 any longer.
    mojokk wrote:
    if that works, then it sounds as though that would be ok. But I have another page that would have 2 menu bars, one at the top of the header image and one at the bottom head image.  It sounds as though I wouldn't be able to use the nav tag for both since the vertical positioning of the text would be different, so I should go back and use divs for menu bars. Am I correct in this assumption?
    You would give each <nav></nav> a class like:
    <nav class="topNav"></nav>
    <nav class="bottomNav"></nav>
    <nav></nav> is just a container like <div></div> (see below) only with more meaning, ie navigation.
    <div class="topNav"></div>
    <div class="bottomNav"></div>
    Then do as you have always done and style the content in the container/s:
    .topNav {
    .bottomNav {

    Also, if I have one page with HTML5 audio in it, should it still work in older browsers as long as I have the first four lines suggested above.  The script (based on jquery has a flash back up for older browsers).
    I don't know much about audio, so can't help you out on this one.

    One other question, in my CSS I have defined my header's position as fixed (position:fixed;) so the content below will scroll up and one will still see header and menu bar.  However, when one scrolls on the page (Iphone) using touch screen, the text content can shift to right or left.  I assume I need to add something to the CSS of .content to prevent it from moving on the horizon.  Thoughts?
    Difficult to say what is happening in this instance - you probably need to upload the page and provide a url so someone can take a look and see if they are seeing what you are seeing.

  • CS6 #nav links change hover background color based on its position in series

    First post from a complete DW CS 6 novice on Win7.  Not knowing JavaScript or JQuery, I thought I would add simplest animation to a website navigation based on the two col fixed header footer design. The navigation links on the left <sidebar1> have been increased to 24, with a common link background in the default state.  When the cursor is passed over the links they would change background color to one of five given in the image placed in the jpeg image loaded as the 1st list item.  The image itself only acts as a color key to the five catagories of links directly below it, and is not hyperlinked.  The idea is that someone looking for new tools would need to hover down the nav links and only be concerned with the Yellow background ones, even if they appear in any random position down the list.  To give each link a color to start with would make <sidebar1> appear too colorful.
    I have David Powers' two dvd titles and was thinking of using a nth-of-type() .  It does not work.  Perhaps there are two sets of colons required (  a:hover:nth-of-type(4), a:active:nth-of-type(4) {background-color:#f00;}   ).  There is surely a way that would work but I do not know enough of DW and CSS at present to figure this out.
    Many thanks.

    I don't what menu system you're using, but you might be able to create some CSS classes to use in your menu like so:
    <ul>
    <li>a href="some-link.html" class="about">about link</a></li>
    <li>a href="some-link.html" class="new">new link</a></li>
    <li>a href="some-link.html" class="new_proc">new procedures link</a></li>
    <ul>
    CSS:
    li a.about:hover {background-color:gray}
    li a:new:hover {background-color:forestgreen}
    li a:new_proc:hover {background-color:lawngreen}
    and so on...
