Using Hint option to optimise queries for remote tables

1. How do i provide a hint to access indexes for remote tables in my query?
2. The explain plan in the 'TOAD' does not expand for remote tables, ie there is no way i can find out whether my query is using the remote table index or not.
Any help on the above two questions would be highly appreciated.

It seems like the java that is on your path does not have OJVM installed. (Either you missed that JDK when you did InstallOJVM.bat, or InstallOJVM somehow wasn't truly successful.)
To find out the java home directory, you can write a simple program that does:
System.out.println("java home is " + System.getProperty("java.home"));
and run it from the command line.
However, it might be quicker for you to just specify the full path for java like this:
C:\oracle\ora92\j2ee\home>C:\jdev\jdk\bin\java -ojvm -XXdebug,port4000,detached,quiet -jar oc4j.jar
(Substitute "C:\jdev\jdk" with your jdev's jdk directory.)

ORA-22816 on a Synonym for Remote Table

Hi
I created a synonym for a remote table in the portal schema.
When I tried inserting value into the table, I get this error
Error: An unexpected error occurred: ORA-22816: unsupported feature with RETURNING clause (WWV-16016)
The portal schema is in a 9i database and the remote table in a 8i database

Try creating a form on this synonym. You should be able to do the table insert through the form.
However, you should make sure that the DB link is a public db link.

Using MISSING FIELD VALUES ARE NULL for external table

I want to place a null for values missing in the sub_account field. Here is my external table:

Use of Oracle Triggers as Deltamechanism for Custom Tables

Hi Colleagues,
we have a 50 million records Y-Table in SAP ECC 6.0 with Oracle 10.2.0.2.0.
The Y-Table have no update, timestamp or numeric pointer fields for using the SAP generic delta feature.
So we will use the Oracle trigger feature: CREATE TRIGGER <trigger_name> FOR <table_name> to get the Y-table keys of inserted, updated or deleted records.
Are there any side effects or warnings for this?

Hi,
my Ora-Trigger-Solution works well on R/3 development system.
On quality assurance system it dumps with ORA-04098.
It looks like, that required object privileges have been never granted.
Do someone know, what priviliges or authorisations have to be maintained and where to maintain this?

Saving a Text data to a PDF file without using print option

I want to save a Text to a PDF file. I want to assign the path of the PDF file as a default one.
If I use Print options, then it ask for the file path at the run time.
Is there any method to save to a PDF file without using print option in Labview 8.2.

About Using Hints in OWB

I am facing one diffculty about using hints in OWB. Through the mapping configuration, i am trying to use INDEX hint for my table. The generated code is correct, but is a very redundant code. Hint is repeating multiple times in the sub query. Below is the sample:

The text under the hint ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") is repeating again and again. Any way of controlling the code being generated..?

From a performance standpoint, using hints in that manner may cause poorer performance than without. The INDEX (table_name) hint directs the optimizer to evaluate all relevant indexes. It is very easy to build an example where your column of interest is the last column in a multicolumn index and have a query perform worse than what a full table scan would produce. Oracle's recommendation is to "use hints sparingly" and that is for good reason.

IWork 2.2 (iOS) disables "Use iCloud" option on opening the app???

After updating the the latest iWork apps (v2.2) there were no documents that were previously there...
I checking icloud.com and all the documents were still in existence. I finally discovered that the "Use iCloud" option in the settings for each of the apps had been disabled. I re-enabled it, but every time I re-opened the app it was disabled again!
Anyone else experiencing this and any workaround?

You are right, Hulu, that important bit of information is not even mentioned on the GarageBand Help page: Use iCloud with GarageBand
The document only mentions, that iCloud for GarageBand will have to be enabled. And it is really not obvious, that the "Sync Documents and Data" needs to be active to, or your iPad will not sync GarageBand projects, because no application data will be synced at all.

Want a scroll bar for a table view

Hi Experts,
I am developing in NWDS 2004S.
I have 2 groups in RootUIElement,
in one group i have few labels & input box with a button,
in other group I have a table.
On click of button according to values in inputbox an RFC is called & Table is populated.
Now my requirement is like, my table has around 33 columns
But i don't want the scroll buttons in footer of table view
I want normal scroll bar for that table.
Kindly help me.

        using scroll container is working fine ,
           but this functionality should be achieved for the
           table , not table to be put int he scroll container
           as the problem is , i have 2000 entries in the
             table and for this again i need to drill down using
                 arrow or drill for certain entries using arrows
            instead need scroll bar for the table
                 if this can achieved it would be helpful ?

Gather table stats taking longer for Large tables

Version : 11.2
I've noticed that gathers stats (using dbms_stats.gather_table_stats) is taking longer for large tables.
Since row count needs to be calculated, a big table's stats collection would be understandably slightly longer (Running SELECT COUNT(*) internally).
But for a non-partitioned table with 3 million rows, it took 12 minutes to collect the stats ? Apart from row count and index info what other information is gathered for gather table stats ?
Does Table size actually matter for stats collection ?

Hi,
You can use the class CL_TABLECONTROL for creating table control and the method SET_VALUES shall be used to fill values for tha tabcntrl.
Else, you can use the Table Control Wizard to create the tabcntrl easily.

I currently use a Mac Pro 10.8.4 and have a time machine for wireless 6.3 (630.34). Sometimes I cannot connect to the internet and use network preferences to diagnose the issue. This results in being told to restart the wireless. The airport utility includes the drop down option of restarting but is not clickable so I can't choose it.
With my prior macbook and same time capsule, etc if i had problems connecting to the internet I would run network diagnostics to help out. This included clicking on the airport utility ---> base station --> restart. This worked most of the time.
Bottom line, is there something I am missing in not being able to restart the wi-fi remotely? ]

You are likely forgetting a step.
Open AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit in the small window that appears
Now click the Base Station menu.....top of the screen....not the Base Station "tab" in the center of the screen
Click Restart

Advantages of using Oracle JVM over JPDA for Remote Debugging?

What are the "additional features" that the documentation hints at when using the Oracle JVM for remote debugging vs. the JPDA protocoL? Can a member of the JDEV briefly address this? What exactly am I losing when using JPDA?

there is a Setting for the usage of RFC accesses from a tested system
using eCATT.
'X' - Use asynchronous RFC calls during test run for remote accesses
' ' - Use synchronous RFC calls during test run for remote accesses
I developed an eCATT as following :
SAPGUI ( SAPGUI_1 , Target_system_1 ).
SAPGUI ( SAPGUI_2 , Target_system_2 ).
My question is how to run the eCATT in a synchronous RFC calls
PS: I do not want to change the Target_system to the same one in the
above script of ecatt.Because I need to run it in 2 different Target
systems sometime.
for example, I give a Target_system_3 when run this eCATT
I want the SAPGUI_1 and SAPGUI_2 run the Target_system_3 but not the
Target_system_1 or Target_system_2 .
Could you please tell me how to make it without the changes in script?

This is the standard option value. Asynchronous are not the standard way and used only for very special purposes.

The commands will be executed in sequence. So each call will be synchronously replayed against TS1 and TS2.
What is you issue with this standard procedure?
