Using iOS Folder Creation Function on OSX Desktop Dock?
Just a thought, but I'd love to keep my clutter on the dock on my macbook low by using the folder-creation function on my iPhone and iPad. Anyone else know of a way to do this or think it's a good idea?

Are both of the function correct? Of am I not allowed to use
the second function (may-b it is an old style and CF is trying to
drop it or something, Does someone knows?)Both are correct and will work, but cffunction has some
advantages. The biggest one is the cfargument tag which gives you
more control over the datatypes coming in. You could code all those
in cfscript, but it's now unnecessary. -
How can I export a folder using iOS?

OK lest see if I got this straight.
The original library is on the laptops internal HD. You connect an external HD to the laptop and export to this external HD connected to the laptop. So at this point you could open that library with Aperture on the laptop.
Images in the original Library are managed but when I export I select the option to export Previews with the catalog. I then copy the original images over to my main Drobo then reconnect them to the Aperture Library.
OK this bit is a got me confused. So the images on the laptop are managed. So then the images in the exported library are also managed, no? But then you say you are copying images to the Drobo and reconnecting them to Aperture. Could you explain this in more detail.
Another thing you can try is to plug in the external HD to your main computer and open the Aperture library from it before you do anything with the Drobo.
BTW it's not the library that is on the Drobo correct, only images?

IOS Numbers crashes very time I try to use "Help" for a function
On both my iPad and iPhone (both at latest iOs level) every time I touch the "i" to get information about a function on Numbers the app crashes.
Anyone one else experiencing this or know a fix?

How do I use Automator to duplicate a folder with graphics on my desktop and erase their Resource forks?
I do not use command line and tried to use ZapResourceForksAMAub_1.2 which I downloadedand instaled the Zap Resource Forks.action. Next I tried to use their sample copy-zap-rsrc.workflow in Snow Leopardon my Mac Pro. The 3 different steps are displayed in Automator but there is no place to put in which folder (on my deskto) to copy, and remove the resource forks from the graphic files.
Can sombody please step me through this please please.

I have a mac OSX desktop version 10.6.8 and all of a sudden I can't get a full screen view in Safari when I ask for help the response is use the arrows on the top right of the screen ... I don't have them ... can anyone help?

I don't remember those arrows in 10.6, only 10.7 & up!?
I have 10.6.8, as you do. To make your Safari full screen, make sure you have the left hand side of your safari page moved all the way to the left. Then move your cursor to the BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER of the safari page, and simply drag your page towards the lower right hand corner of the screen. NOTE: you will see a series of lines on the bottom right corner of the page, indicating where to place you cursor arrow.

When Using iOs 7.1.2 with mac OSX 10.9.4 mavericks notes are not syncing via USB.
When will this be fixed ? Not interested in iCloud or IMAP solution. it worked before, I can't really
understand why apple would change one of my favorite features. I use the notes feature to
capture quick ideas on the road and having it synched on my computer and my phone was very useful.
Previous blog posts elsewhere indicated this would be fixed in the latest rev of iOS, OSX and iTunes.

Then you won't be syncing your notes anymore.
Contacts and Calendars are the only things they restored.

I am on OSX 10.7.5 and recently had to reinstall it due to 'mail' not working correctly. That problem was resolved but now my I can't use the 'right click' function on the apple usb mouse. I only have a previous version re-install disc as I bought the latest OSX off the app store. Any help gratefully received?
Hmmm, no, no drivers needed, now it sounds like a bad install... unless you might have some old Mouse software installed???
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -

I am using iOS 7.0.4 and since the upgrade, I no longer have the airplay function or icon on my iPad. I want to use the AppleTV with the iPad in my classroom, but the Airplay icon is gone from the Controll. Can anyone help me to fix this PLEASE? I have updated the software on the AppleTV, and both the AppleTV and iPad are on the same network. I also restarted the router! Still no icon for the Airplay.

If I can't get my contacts and calendar to sync, half of the reason I have a smart phone is gone.
Rather than switching to Apple, use a smartphone that WILL sync with your calendar and contacts - a Windows or Android phone. iPhones do sync with Apple products nearly flawlessly, but they don't play nice with other OS's.
Android works well with Google; and Windows works well with, well, Windows and Microsoft products. Android and Windows do cooperate somewhat. -
I have an iPhone 4 using iOS 7.1.2. On my home screen at the email icon in red it shows I have 11,193 emails to be read. I have no mail in Inbox, Drafts, Sent, or Trash. Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. The number is printed in read on top of the blue and white emaiI icon. I contacted my cable company and through their website I can check my email. In doing this it showed I had 25 unread emails. Also, my iPad 2 is receiving emails fine. So the problem is with the iPhone 4. What can I do to get rid of the number and make my mail operational?

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages. If everything looks good then the next step would be to remove the accounts and add them back in. My IPad is currently using IOS version 7.0.3. I am trying to download 7.0.4 and am unable to do so. The screen says "downloading", but nothing is happeniing. It also continues to say "Estimating time remaining........" and never changes. I would like to delete and start over or whatever, but am unable to do so.Any suggestions?
Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

IPhoto 09 broke integration with Mac OSX desktop prefs, iTunes and iPod
Since upgrading to iPhoto 09, it appears that I cannot access iPhoto albums from either the Mac OSX desktop preferences, or sync them using iTunes to my iPod touch. I have tried recreating the photo library, restoring it, and recreating the xml index in the package etc. My old iPhoto library (before upgrade) works fine. Does anyone have a solution that works?
First use iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild the library as follows:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 -Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 -Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your User/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File->Rebuild Library menu option
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be untouched for further attempts at fixing or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory .
If the resulting library doesn't work as it should try copying the Events from old library into the new one with iPhoto Library Manager. If that goes as intended go back and copy the Albums. That should create the albums without importing duplicates.
If you have Faces and Places already assigned then download the latest beta version of V3.5 which can be downloaded here and use it.
*You will need to purchase the application to use the copy and merge functions but it's the best iPhoto helper on the market.* -

You can connect USB 3 components to you MB if you wish to use them but will only run at USB 2 specs. -
have tried to copy ratings over to a new computer using the export playlist function and this fails... can anyone suggest why?
Because ratings don't travel with the files or the playlist.
These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.
