Using javascript to check datatype
Hi again, I have a database name "cars"
name VARCHAR2(10)
model VARCHAR2(10)
year Date
price NUMBER
I have a form which staff fill in those details then save it.
I am doing a client side validation. I AM ALSO DOING A SERVER SIDE TOO.
Because the form is very long and takes about 15 mins to fill in a form. Basically I want to use javascript to check individual datatype in the database to check if whatever the user types in can fit into each datatype.
Hope that makes sense.
Thanks for your help.
jquery is tightly integrated with apex. you will have to do the validation using jquery/javascript. check the following links

Using JavaScript to Hide/Show Items
Hello
Trying to use Javascript to check a List Item value.
IF List Item value IS NULL THEN
HIDE some other items
ELSE
SHOW some other Items
I managed to locate some code to determine a NULL value.
This works and I even can display a an alert message
When I attempt to Hide the other Items, nothing happens
Any Help on this matter - Urgently required for a Deadline
Here is the code I am using :
function show_InvestigatorData(){
var lCheck = html_SelectValue('P1000_INVESTIGATOR_ID');
// if Investigator populated, show the Investigator fields
if(lCheck &&
lCheck != '' &&
lCheck != 'null' &&
lCheck != '' &&
lCheck != ' '){
alert('this value is ' + lCheck);
html_ShowItemRow ('P1000_INVESTIGATION_START_DATE');
else {
// otherwise hide the Investigator fields
alert('this value is null');
html_HideItemRow ('P1000_INVESTIGATION_START_DATE');
Many Thanks in advance
AdeAde,
Carl Backstrom has a great sample site with examples of what I believe you are trying to accomplish:
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:5:661046971170606::NO:RP::
From either the menu or the index, select Javascript and then "Show/Hide/Toggle Form Items".
Hope you don't mind the plug Carl.

How to get page number from the PDF using Javascript
Hi,
We are having list of Single page PDF. The pdf are named in the order,
ISBN_Author_01.PDF (with real page number as i)
ISBN_Author_02.PDF (with real page number as ii)
ISBN_Author_03.PDF (with real page number as iii)
ISBN_Author_04.PDF (with real page number as 1)
ISBN_Author_05.PDF (with real page number as 2)
ISBN_Author_06.PDF (with real page number as 3)
ISBN_Author_nn.PDF (with real page number as 500)
Here each pdf has a page number and in sequential order.
The task is to check whether all the pdfs are in sequential order (i.e i, ii, iii, 1, 2, 3). If any page is missing, the script should throw an error report.
To do this task, I am writing a Javascript to get the real page number from the PDF.
Can anybody help me how to get the page number from the PDF using Javascript.
Thanks,
GopalThe "real" page number within a PDF is the count of the physical page starting at 0, zero.
pageNum numPages
The number printed on each page is the page label.
setPageLabels getPageLabel
You will have to open each PDF and your script would need to know the page label for that file. I would expect you would need to build a 2 dimensional array of the file names and the page label for the page within that array. -

How to use JavaScript to Open a link automatically
Is there a method (using JavaScript) to allow a user clicked link to open the link through a “intermediary” page?
For example, say I have a web page with a embedded Flash file that contains links to several different (outside) web pages. The behavior I want is that the user clicks a link (within the Flash file), a HTML window opens (over the 1st HTML/Flash window) with the new content, leaving the original Flash/HTML window displayed in the background. The user reads the new content. The user can then close the newer window and be back at the displayed HTML/Flash file.
The twist is that the link embedded in the referring Flash/HTML file goes to a “intermediary page”. Call that the “collector” page. I control that page. On that page I have collected (in a list) all the actual outside URLs (I do this so that I can easily change the URLs using HTML rather than having to edit the Flash file.) The Flash file contains essentially the same URL for each outside location (plus a variable unique to a specific URL).
The user should not ever actually see this intermediary/collector page. Instead, they click the link, a variable is passed from the referring page to the collector page and fires the corresponding link automatically (replacing the content in the newly created window). Since the link fires automatically the content in the new window (initially created by the collector page) changes to the destination content.
Is this possible?
What JavaScript functions are used?
How are the referring links constructed in the Flash so the variable is passed to the collector page?
How does the “collector” page auto open the actual content?
If anyone can point me to descriptions on how this might be done I’d certainly appreciate it.
TPK>is there a way i can call javascript without security checking?
It wouldn't be security if you could just bypass it. Did you read all
the security notes? You might be able to do something with trusted
functions, but I'm not sure how that would integrate with a plug-in.

How can I call a web service using JAVAscript in LCD
hi guys,
I know it can call a WSDL in LCD, but I have not any WSDL web service , and I have a REST web service ,how can I call this REST web service in LCD? I checked some documents and found nothing...if it's possible that it can call a REST web service using JAVAScript code, I mean I can program some code to call this web service ?
thanks,
JesseHi Jesse,
You can do GET, PUT and POST using FormCalc, so you should be able to access a REST web service.
There is a example of accessing a RSS feed in this thread, http://forums.adobe.com/message/5695433#5695433

Allowing only pdf files in document library using Javascript
HI,
I have a document library in sharepoint 2013, where i want only pdf files to get uploaded in it. I have created event receiver for the same and it is working fine. but i want to restrict the files using javascript on
the page itself, since, In event receiver, after the file is getting uploaded, it is checking and throwing error. So, is there any way to check for the file type before uploading the file and show error message if wrong file is uploaded?
Harikrishna BaskaranBind event to the upload button and add jquery to validate the file extension. Refer to the following posts for more information

How to Read Variable Values in WAD 7.0 Using JavaScript
I found a how to: How to Read Variable Values in WAD 7.0 Using JavaScript on SDN.
I get a Javascript error:
bics.getElementsByTagName is not a function
vars = bics.getElementsByTagName("VARIABLES")[0]; // <VARIABLES>
Thats my script:
function currency()
var varnm = "SFS_CP_CURR"; // Name of the variable to be read
root = document.childNodes[0]; // <HTML>
body = root.getElementsByTagName("BODY")[0]; // <BODY>
xml = body.getElementsByTagName("XML")[0]; // <XML>
bics = xml.childNodes[0]; // <BICS_VIEW>
vars = bics.getElementsByTagName("VARIABLES")[0]; // <VARIABLES>
varl = vars.getElementsByTagName("VARIABLE"); // gives no. of variable in DP
for ( i = 0; i <= varl.length; i++ ) // Loop one by one
vari = vars.getElementsByTagName("VARIABLE")<i>;
varnam = vari.attributes[0].text; // get variable name
mem = vari.getElementsByTagName("MEMBER")[0];
varval = mem.attributes.getNamedItem("name").value; // read variable value
if (varnam == varnm) //check varname in loop needs to be read
if (varval == "ZMON") // check for value1 and fire command1
SFS_CP_M();
if (varval == "ZKON") // check for value2 and fire command2
SFS_CP_K();
break;
Where's the mistake?I'm afraid I haven't made my question understood clearly.
What I am looking for is a method to get the value of variable inside excel (e.g. put it into a cell / range of a worksheet, so that we can reference it and use it as an input for planning function execution).
Please advice.
Thanks in advance,

Reason of your Dump is that the enhancement "LFDCB001" which you used contains one Function module exit "EXIT_SAPLFDCB_001" and another one screen exit in calling screen "SAPLFDCB" number 0150.
So when you activate your project these above mentioned both components were activated.
So when you execute transaction SAP looks for called screen "SAPLXM08" No-0400 but as you havn't created and program go for DUMP.
Solution - Just Create called screen "SAPLXM08" No-0400 and activate.

Using Javascript To UnCheck A Checkbox
Hi,
I have a select list with two options in. When one of them is selected I have two checkboxes that I want hiding and setting to unselected. I can hide and show them fine using *$x_HideItemRow* and *$x_ShowItemRow*, but when I hide them I want the setting as unselected.
Have tried using html_GetElement(pThat).checked = false; but when the items are displayed again they are still displayed as selected.
Can anyone show me how to uncheck a checkbox using javascript?
Cheers
SimonSimon,
Use firebug in firefox to see what's happening. The name of your item is applied to an HTML fieldset element that contains the actual inputs of type checkbox. Each of those has a name based on the item name with "_X" on the end as in PXX_ITEM_NAME_0.
You'll need to select the one you want to check/uncheck directly by adding the underscore and the number. Also, you can use $x over html_GetElement (just shorter).

Using Javascript to disable field "Planned"
Hi every one,
I want to use javascript to disable "Planned" checkbox in Project Server 2013 because we want that user can not see this planned time and be confused with the Project Server's automatic changes for the planned time.
<script type="text/javascript">
document.getElementById("Ribbon.ContextualTabs.MyWork.Home.ShowHide.PlannedWork-Medium-checkbox").checked = false;
</script>
I found this code in this subject :
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/projectserver/en-US/0beeed2d-bebc-4217-981a-41b1252c7cc2/disable-field-planned-in-timesheet?forum=projectserver2010general
But I don't understand where to use it. If i create a custom webpart with this code, I've got a null exception when the page is loading.
So, can you help me ? Maybe I need to use it in an other file ?Hi Patmol6,
Basically, to add javascript to a PDP (or timesheet page for instance),
edit the page
add the content editor webpart
set it as hidden
copy paste the code
Note that you can also point from the content editor webpart to a js file embedding the javascript code
Here are few examples (some are in PS2007, but the process is similar):
http://epmsource.com/tag/content-editor-webpart/
http://badalratra.wordpress.com/2013/05/04/how-to-disable-pdp-custom-fields-using-javascript/

Hope this helps.

Using javascript to copy to the clipboard in Safari
I had an application for taking notes in IE for the windows computers at my company. It used Javascript to copy the contents of a text box to the clipboard.
Now that we've switched to macs (and love them), this no longer works in eitehr Safari, Firefox, or Camino for the mac.
If there is a javascript command that will let you copy a text box's contents to the clipboard that works with any of these browsers, I'd be greateful for a few pointers int he right direction.
Thanks in advance!jalperin wrote:

I'd guess that it is a timing issue as well. I haven't looked
much at the dataset capability in Spry, but it may be that the
dataset "finds" all of the regions and code that it applies to
before the onPostLoad event is triggered. If that is the case, then
your generated code doesn't exist yet,and so the dataset thinks
that there is nothing for it to apply to.
Will the HTML that you generate change based upon the dataset
that is actually returned? I guess I'm looking for the reason why
the HTML is being generated when it could be in the page itself and
avoid this issue completely.

Rename an XML tag using javascript
Dear adobe experts,
I have a requirement to rename XML tags, in the interface for an adobe form, using javascript.
the XML looks like this:
<ELEMENT>
<DATA>
<ROW_IID>0</ROW_IID>
<PARENT>0</PARENT>
<CHILD>0</CHILD>
</DATA>
<DATA>
<ROW_IID>1</ROW_IID>
<PARENT>0</PARENT>
<CHILD>0</CHILD>
</DATA>
</ELEMENT>
and the result should look something like this:
<ELEMENT>
<CHAIR>
<ROW_IID>0</ROW_IID>
<PARENT>0</PARENT>
<CHILD>0</CHILD>
</CHAIR>
<TABLE>
<ROW_IID>0</ROW_IID>
<PARENT>0</PARENT>
<CHILD>0</CHILD>
</TABLE>
</ELEMENT>
Is this possible and how can I do this? I was hoping that something like renameNode() (for instance) is also possible in the javascript set for adobe forms.
If it's not possible I'm going to have to create new nodes, put the data from the existing node in the new node and remove the original node. This will be a lot more work and just renaming is easier :-).
Kind regards,
NielsHi,
Thanks a lot Jeff...
I'm doing a huge program with lot of tasks. While doing that,my mind didn't strike to check if the tag is not already exist, then only to create new tag... Thanks for all of the indesigner experts for their replies...
I used the following codes with ur idea.
var renamewith = textbox1.text;
try
alert(app.activeDocument.xmlTags.item(renamewith).name);
if(app.activeDocument.xmlTags.item(renamewith).name)
var testTag = app.activeDocument.xmlTags.item(renamewith);
catch(e)
var testTag = app.activeDocument.xmlTags.add({name: renamewith});
With Regards,
Vel.
