I am trying to develop a website where a user registers by filling details required onto a page this data is then posted onto another page and displayed to user the user can the store this data into the database if they are satisfied with it. The problem is although this data is displayed on the next JSP page when I click on save the data is not written to my database.
Code below the problem is with datasave.jsp

Hi,
I think in place of buyandsell put NAIJA
String connectionURL = "jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/NAIJA ";

How to get the data from mysql database which is being accessed by a PHP application and process the data locally in adobe air application and finally commit the changes back in to mysql database through the PHP application.

If the data is on a remote server (for example, PHP running on a web server, talking to a MySQL server) then you do this in an AIR application the same way you would do it with any Flex application (or ajax application, if you're building your AIR app in HTML/JS).
That's a broad answer, but in fact there are lots of ways to communicate between Flex and PHP. The most common and best in most cases is to use AMFPHP (http://amfphp.org/) or the new ZEND AMF support in the Zend Framework.
This page is a good starting point for learning about Flex and PHP communication:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/flex_php.html
Also, in Flash Builder 4 they've added a lot of remote-data-connection functionality, including a lot that's designed for PHP. Take a look at the Flash Builder 4 public beta for more on that: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashbuilder4/

  • When / why use XML to store data instead of database table ?

    Hi All,
I still not use XML much in applications and don't know much about its utilization.
I read here and there about storing data as XML instead of into database tables.
    - could any body please tell me when / why use XML to store data instead of database table ?
e.g : store inventory per warehouse in XML format. ?
    - What is the other cases or reasons of extracting database records into XML or vice versa ?
    - is there any good pdf on this ?
    Thank you for your help,
    xtanto

It depends entirely what you want to accomplish with the 'XML in the database'. There are basically 3 independent methods: As CLOB, as XMLType views or as native XMLType 'columns'
Each method has advantages and disadvantages, especially in the performance vs purpose tradeoff.
The Oracled Press book "Oracle Database 10g XML & SQL Design, Build, & Manage XML Applications in Java, C, C++, & PL/SQL" is highly recommended for anyone interested in Oracle and XML. http://books.mcgraw-hill.com/getbook.php?isbn=0072229527&template=oraclepress

  • Using JSPs and passing data from 1 page to the next

I have an application which has a number of JSPs.
JSP1 has some fields and buttons.
One of these buttons is called 'Print'. On pressing this control
is passed to the next JSP2. In this JSP the data is displayed
from the database. It is displayed via some TABLE tags, thus giving
multiple records displayed. There is also a check box against each record and having checked this box - the user can then then press another button which takes the user to another JSP - JSP3 - which gives the user a list of options for printing. They then can do 1 of 2 things - print a report or print some labels.
I have got this to work where there is only 1 record displayed in JSP2.
But where more than one record is displayed in JSP2 - JSP3 does NOT
know how to handle this and says the variable is undefined.
The code I am using to reference the JSP2 variable is
    var batchNumber = top.opener.document.printTranscript.batchNumber2.value;
Any help or ideas would really be appreciated.
    Thanx
    Chris

    Hi
If you are using JavaScript, try putting data in a Hidden field and perform request.getParameter in the next page, Place data in a Delimited fashion when placing into the hidden field, on the next page split these values and place where you want them to be.
    This is a proven method...
    Thanks

  • Using JDBC to send data to MsAccess database

    Hi,
I have received a MSAccess database on a file. I have placed the database on a networkdrive, and need to write data to the tables in this database. The networkdrive is mapped like //Data/DB/Databse.mdb
How do I connect the jdbc adapter to this database? Can it be done, like you normally connect to a database system with servername and port?
    Kind regards
    Mikkel Íversen

    Hi
In that case u have to provide the Connection parameter and the driver name.
    Refer today thread : https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/profile?userid=3596219
Enter the following parameter in the JDBC adapter..
    JDBC Driver = "sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"
    Connection = "jdbc:odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=
    DataDBDatabse.mdb"
if there is authentication then enter :
    uername & Password.
Also note your .mdb file should be on the same server where the XI is installed.
    Thanks
    Farooq.

  • Getting Data From MySQL Database using Dreamweaver CS4 Built In Functions

    Hi,
I am really in need of some help if you don't mind.
I basically have a website with user regsitration system etc and so on.
I basically connected to my Data Base in Dreamweaver CS4 and now want to use the tools in Dremweaver CS4 to display Data from database.
Problem is i see the tools but not really sure how i use them. I see on Data bar all the tools to view, update delete records etc.
I basically created a page where i want to display all the records in the DB. I done this using dynamic data selecting what fields to display etc and 15 records per page.
When i view the page in localhost thou it is only showing 1 record althou i have like 5 users in my test db.
So if anyone can really tell me how i go about displaying data from db that be great. When i learn how to do that i probably will understand and learn how to update records etc.
    Thanks

To display all records, you need to apply a repeat region to the paragraph, div, or table row that contains the dynamic text objects for the database results. You might also find it helpful to follow the dynamic application tutorial in the Adobe Developer Connection.
