Using Kaosweaver advanced random images

Very much a beginner trying to improve a web site I built for
a vacation rental by adding a small slide show.
Using Dreamseaver 4, Kaosweaver advanced random immages.
Following directions but do not see any immages on home page,
get two icons in the upper left corner. In the Kaosweaver box, I am
not entering anything in link or target. All immages are in the
root directory for the web site I am building.
What am I doing wrong.

I don't know if this is THE problem - but it's A problem.
Your code has
absolute references to the files on your computer, rather
than relative
paths from the HTML file itself. Your code has this (several
times):
KW_ARI[KW_ARI.length]='/|/Documents and
Settings/HP_Administrator/My
Documents/Colorado/Web 06/homepage_deck_flash.jpg';
It should be:
KW_ARI[KW_ARI.length]='homepage_deck_flash.jpg';
or
KW_ARI[KW_ARI.length]='images/homepage_deck_flash.jpg';
or whatever the relative path to your images is.

  • Alt tags, kaosweaver advanced random images

    Hi. In Dreamweaver 8.0
    I have installed Advanced Random Images from Kaosweaver: http://www.kaosweaver.com/extensions/details.php?id=5
    I would like to do a Sequential Slide Show with 8 images. I would like to add alt tags onto each of these images, but the Kaosweaver will not let me do this with the Sequential Slide Show.
    Does anyone know a way/trick to work around this?
    Thank you.

    You would have to direct these questions to Paul Davis, the author of kaosweaver stuff.
    However, it sure looks to me as if it does this (snippet taken from the ARI demo on the kaosweaver site) -
    // Advanced Random Images End
        </script><img src="/assets/images/extdemo/intensa3/neptune_main.gif"
    alt="The solid blue is wonderful" title="The solid blue is wonderful" width="300" height="300">

  • Extension: Dynamic Images/Advance Random Images

    Hi there,
    I have downloaded 2 extensions: Dynamic Images or/and
    Advanced Random Images (kaosweaver.com); it seems both are the same
    and I have used both, works very well when I open the page on
    Mozilla Firefox but not on Internet Explorer and strange thing is
    when the page is open on IE everything disappears and the only
    thing can be seen is the page background!!!
    Any suggestion to fix the problem would be appreciated. Thank
    you.

    Babri1,
    As always, start by contacting the extension author. I'm sure
    that Paul
    Davis will help you out.

  • Kaosweaver Random Images And CSS

    I have searched all over and can't find an answer to this and have an e-mail in to the developer but figured I would ask here as well.
    I am using Kaosweaver Advanced Random Images to rotate pics on a home page in the editable content area.  The CSS style for the text in the content area is to line up on the left.  When I insert the Kaosweaver command )even if I insert it with the cursor in the middle of the page the images line up on the left of the page.  If I make a CSS rule that centers the text there is no way to apply it to the images I can tell.....except that if I go into the code and find the name of the image in the Kaosweaver code, highlight it and right click it lets me apply the CSS rule (even though I see no visible changes to the rule.  Is this OK and will it end up causing problems on different browsers etc?
    Is there another way to do it.  I could see attaching a second style sheet just for that page with items centered as there will only be one other line of text on the page so that it won't matter if everything on that one page is centered but I don't want everything on all the pages centered.
    Is there an easier way of accomplishing this.  I was surprised in Googling this that noone else seems to have this problem....am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks.

    Oops, good link, errors are basic, Every image needs an "alt"

  • Random Image PHP Scipt Issue

    I am using a
    PHP random image
    script on a site in which I have 2 different images on each
    templated page (random images throgh a site). The two images call
    to 2 different folders with the random image script in them (to get
    2 distinct images). Thus, 2 different random images. My issue is
    that it seems that most browsers at some point do not call for a
    new image but use what was there in the last page as it is the same
    name:
    http://ansano.com/asl/images/random/top/random_image.php
    or
    http://ansano.com/asl/images/random/bottom/random_image.php
    Any idea of how to force a browser to call the PHP script? Or
    how to change it so it works site wide?
    Thanks!!

    I've now been sitting looking for this for a while. I don't seem to be able to get it to work.
    Do I need to host to a folder first and then to the FTP server after?
    I don't seen to be able to find the new page (TEST PAGE) in the folder I used to publish the site to before I went online. Tried searching for it in finder but I don't get any results on (TESTPAGEfiles).
    I can see what you are talking bout I only publish to a local folder but I want to publish via the FTP option in iWeb.
    Thank you very much for helping me

  • PHP Random Image extension

    I am trying to use the PHP random image generator but I don't
    know where to specify the size I want all the pictures to come up
    in the code. I created a "php" test page and inserted said code
    where I want the images to display but they are too large and throw
    the entire page off. Is there a way to tell it that all pictures
    should be called up at 240(width) x 350(height)? Any help would be
    greatly appreciated. The reason I am doing this is because there
    are about 200 images (of students) in this folder and coding each
    picture seperately is too time consuming.
    Regards,
    RM (using DW MX2004)

    Disregard....I figured it out. As it turns out the best
    solution would be to have your original pictures saved with the
    desired dimensions. I was able to point the PHP to a directory that
    contained pictures with said dimensions and it worked like a charm.
    regards.

  • Using PHP to display semi-random images?

    Hello,
    I'm looking for help using PHP and MySQL to generate semi-random images on my web site. Here's what I'm trying to do: I have 60 images, but I only want to display 16 at a time (for examlpe http://artisdead.net/antelopegardens.php).
    The way I imagine this is, the design has 16 image placeholders. I want Placeholder 1 (the first image) to randomally pull record ID 1, 2, or 3 from the SQL database, while Placeholder 2 pulls record ID 4-6, etc. It's important that one of the first 3 images displays first, while one of the second 3 images displays next, etc.
    I've found various ways to randomize all the images, but I'm not understanding how to constrain the randomization the way I'm looking to. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Before offering a possible solution, I should point out that your plan has a minor flaw. If you display only 16 images, and want the random choice to come from incremental sets of three, the maximum number you can have in your set is 48. The final 12 images will never be selected. For 60 images, you need 20 placeholders. The alternative is to have a total set of 64 images, and make the random choice come from incremental sets of four images.
    With that caveat, here's how I would do it. The primary keys of your records might not be consecutive, particularly if records are deleted and new ones added, so it might be a good idea to have a separate column with consecutive numbers from 1 to the the maximum. To select random numbers from incremental groups of three, use the following:
    $id = array();
    $min = 1;
    $max = 3;
    for ($i = 0; $i < 16; $i++) {
      // generate random number from current set
      $id[$i] = mt_rand($min, $max);
      // increment the minimum and maximum numbers for the next set
      $min += 3;
      $max += 3;
    // join the selected values as a comma-separated string
    $vals = implode(',', $id);
    $sql = "SELECT image FROM images WHERE id IN ($vals)";
    // excecute the SQL query

  • How can I use an advanced action to show a sequence of images by clicking on a single button?

    I'm trying to make Captivate 7 project where I have several slides where images are revealed one after the other.  I wanted to insert a button along the lines of click here for next image but can't work out how to write the script for it.  The Adobe information is next to useless and I can't find anything which breaks down these processes from scratch.  Any help appreciated!

    You're a little early but help is on the way.  There are a couple of new e-books being written about using Advanced Actions.
    One of them is currently available as a discounted pre-release here:
    http://www.infosemantics.com.au/e-books/guide-to-adobe-captivate-advanced-actions-01
    Lilybiri is also writing an Advanced Actions Cookbook as well.
    Your specific use case could be handled a number of different ways:
    Have your images on different slides and use an identical button to jump to each slide.
    Use Conditional Advanced Actions and User Variables to check which images have been viewed and then show the next image in a series.  This would allow everything to be done on the same slide but is a more advanced technique that may be beyond your abilities until you are more versed with how variables and advanced actions work.

  • Using a random image generator in a frameset [was: "I'm a photographer, not a web designer!"]

    I've been designing my own website for some years now using dreamweaver.  I love the ease of use and simplicity it offers, however I know nothing of designing web pages.  I know what I want but I just don't exactly always know how to get there.  I am currently trying to have a random image generator on my landing page, which is a frameset.  I've tried several codes that I've found online and have had no success, at all mind you, with any of them.  I'm sure that I am doing something very simple wrong with my design but just can't figure it out.  Unfortunately I am a photographer which makes me a visual person, so yes, if you can help me you'll have to draw a picture for me, or at least hold my hand and walk me through the steps.  Sorry, I know I'm high maintenance.
    My site is all frameset based.  I have a 'mainFrame' that all other links in the other frames load to.  So I am assuming that my code for the image generator should go in the body of the mainFrame.  I have even copied and pasted all the code from some of the help I've found, downloaded a cfm to try, all to no avail.  Con someone spell it out for me, or better yet, draw me a picture.
    [Subject line edited by moderator for clarity]

    My site is all frameset based.
    That's a tragedy.  Frames, once popular in the 90's are almost never used anymore.  In fact, the W3C saw fit to drop frameset support from HTML 5.
    Why Frames are Evil:  http://apptools.com/rants/framesevil.php
    Instead of Frames or Framesets, consider using Templates (DWTs) or Server-Side Includes (SSIs)
    Guidance  on when to use DW Templates, Library Items and SSIs -

  • Running gif animation and a random image output from an html button, HELP!!

    Trying to click (onClick) an animated gif image of an on/off switch to start a second animation which is located on a different location on the web-page (a 7-frame animation of a generator with moving parts) immediately followed by a random image selection function placing an image in a 3rd location on the page (next to the generator image). The random images are supposed to look like the result of the generator animation---the item that “pops out” of the generator.
    We thought the process to achieve this would be an “OnClick” on the on/off switch-animated-gif to start two javascript functions (generato animation function & random image function).
    To further complicate matters, we are doing this website in iWeb. We’re using iWeb SEO Tool to add the javascript to the header and HTML snippet in iWeb to place the HTML code. Not sure we’re actually doing the snippet right though---is it supposed to relate to the images---or is it separate? When the gifs are place on the iweb page, they work in the browser upon page load---the “on-click” & the random image function are NOT working...so we know we’ve done something(s) wrong.
    We’re thinking that we’re probably missing some code that describes where the 3 different image-spots are on the page (image #1 is the on/off switch gif, image#2 is the generator gif, image#3 is the generator output.png)....or just aren’t coding the string of functions correctly---or maybe our strategy for achieving this is just no correct (?).
    Here is the code we have tried that didn’t work. We desperately need a solution quickly and are open to any/other ideas for how to accomplish this. THANKS YOU in advance for your help!!!:

  • Randomizing image/text on refresh

    Hello. I'm new...quite new to DW and web work, but have a small, general understanding of it. I'm an animator and am in the midst of creating my own portfolio site. I don't understand code, at least uber-extreme code. I'm attempting to have specific quotes on my homepage from clients and would like to have them change, or have a new text/quote appear on refresh or upon a new visit to the site (just so it's not the same one everytime).
      Would I need to just render out a .swf file in AE or is there a means of doing this within DW w/o using crazy code? Thanks in advance, Andy

    HTML has no way to do something like this.  You would indeed have to use Flash, or JavaScript, or some server-scripting to accomplish that task.
    It's quote easy to do with something like PHP, for example, by declaring a random variable in the page, e.g.,
    <?php
    $imageVar = rand(1,5) /* this will generate a random number between 1 and 5 */
    ?>
    and then using that random variable in the image's source attribute -
    <img src="images/random/image<?php echo $imageVar; ?>.jpg" />
    If you are getting the idea that you will have to come to grips with code sooner rather than later, then you are on the right track.  DW is very punishing to those who won't take the time to learn the underlying technologies....
    If you Google "random image" and "Dreamweaver" you may also be able to find extensions that do the same thing for you (in JavaScript).  I would recommend that you visit http://www.projectseven.com and search there - I do know that they have such a thing, and can wholeheartedly endorse their products as being the best of show....

  • How can I use a refrence background image ?

    HI,
    I need to register align horizontally and vertically) about 100 images to the first. I don't want to stack or merge them. An ideal way to accomplish this would be to be able to set the first image as a background reference image for all images in the group. There would be left/right buttons so I could advance through the stack, a slider to adjust the visibility of the foreground image, and up/down & right/left arrows so I could move the upper image a pixel at a time in any direction. In this case I don't need to rotate the image, but this would also be something a person might want to control. Then I would move through the group of images, stopping on each one to align the image to the first. One at a time, or after I am done, it would save all the aligned images to a new filename and folder, without changing the transparency of the image or in any way using the background reference image. Without rotating the images, every pixel in the new image would be the same as in the original, except moved. I would start by resizing the canvas of all the images so they have a border area. This way I can move the image around and not lose any of it.
    Of course I could put the reference image in the background layer and the image to be adjusted above it on another layer. Then i can use the background as a reference by making the upper image somewhat transparent. Finially I could delete the background layer and save the image with just the adjusted layer. But this would be tedius with 100 images, even worse if there were 1000..
    Is there a reference background image capability in Photoshop CC ? Is there a better or different way to do this ? Or can Bridge do it ?

    Perhaps I need to explain my specific application. I have 120 images that are part of a time lapse sequence. The camera is photographing a meteor shower. I was able to capture a meteor which left a persistent trail that lasted about 5 minutes. Because the camera is on a tripod, the stars are constantly moving and in fact moved quite a bit during the 5 minutes the trail was visible. These images are of much higher resulution than the 1080 video I am producing. I have used premier to track the spot in the images and show the meteor and trail as a video close up that runs at about 15% speed. because the exposures were 30 seconds ;long, every 33 seconds, the sky has visibly moved from image to image. because I use only a few keyframes Premier tracks the spot smoothly. But since the pictures are each moved, not moving, the stars in the final video move back and forth with each image. they never go anywhere, but this movement is distracting and annoying. Theoretically I could eliminate this movement by having a different key for each frame. But the better way is to prepare the images so they are all aligned. Then there will be no movement at all.
    You have seen this effect in documentaries. Here's a hypothetical situation. Someone has handheld video of an important event happening. because of the situation and the handheld camera, the picture moves around like crazy. To be able to view the event clearly as part of an investigation, each frame is aligned to the first so the subject doesn't move at all, while the image frame moves all around. I have seen this many times. Now I need to do it.
    I have 120 pictures which all must be aligned so the stars in the picture do not move. i need to see a refrence image through the image to be adjusted, so I can move the image to be adjusted until its stars are perfectly aligned with stars in the refrence image. Of course this is like stacking, which is used to reduce noise and increase detail. but I don't want to stack the images, just adjust them horizontally and vertically, and then save them in their adjusted state.

  • Hello from a new member and help with random images on refresh

    Hi All,
    I've just joined the forum. In fact I've really only just started to use Dreamweaver. I've covered a lot of ground in the last few weeks and
    have manage to set up a basic site using CSS for layout but now I've hit my first problem.
    On the index page of the site - http://www.hcadesign.co.uk/ there is a large main image which I would like to change each time someone
    visits the site or hits refresh. I've hunted around and found lots of scripts, all using java, that seem to do just this but I'm not having any
    luck getting them to work.
    My pages code is as follows -
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />

    <link href="styles/hca_styles.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="wrapper">
      <div id="header"><img src="images/header.gif" width="800" height="100" alt="hca_header" /></div>

      <h1>Project Managers</h1>
    </div>
      <div id="footer"></div>
    </div>
    </body>
    </html>
    I've highlighted where the image to be rotated is in red.
    The scripts I've found have generally involved putting something in the <head>, something where the image is to be (but I wasn't sure if it should be
    within the div tag or after img src or what?) and also a seperate *.js file stored in the root directory.
    Anyway I'm not getting anywhere and need some help as I really don't know what I'm doing with javascript.
    Cheers

    Hi and Welcome to the DW Forums.
    For the sake of clarity, Java is not the same thing as JavaScript. 2 entirely different programming languages.
    Copy and paste the following code into a new, blank HTML page.
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />
    <title>Random Banner</title>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--//Random Banner image on Page Reload
    //store the images in arrays below.
    //First banner is always image [0].
    //If you add more banners images, change the array count (4).
    images = new Array(4);
    images[0] = "<a href='http://www.example.com'>
    <img src='path/first-image.jpg' width=' ' height=' ' alt='some-description' /> </a>";
    images[1] = "<a href='http://www.example.com'>
    <img src='path/second-image.jpg' width=' ' height=' ' alt='some-description' /> </a>";
    images[2] = "<a href='http://www.example.com'>
    <img src='path/third-image.jpg' width=' ' height=' ' alt='some-description'  </a>";
    images[3] = "<a href='http://www.example.com'>
    <img src='path/fourth-image.jpg' width=' ' height=' ' alt='some-description'  </a>";
    index = Math.floor(Math.random() * images.length);
    document.write(images[index]);
    //done
    // -->
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h1>Random Banner on Page Load.</h1>
    <p>The more images you have in your array, the more random it will seem.</p>
    <p>Change the URLs from example.com to your your own site pages.</p>
    <p>Change path/image to images in your local site folder.</p>
    </body>
    </html>
    Good luck with your project,

  • Random Image not displaying in Live View.

    My page is at:
    www.andrewjamesartist.co.uk
    There's a random image script on the front page.
    <img src="randomimages/rotate.php" alt="A Sample Image from the work of Andrew James" />
    That's how it is placed in the page.
    It shows in preview in browser and it's OK live but it doesn't show in LiveView.
    I use a testing server set up with virtual hosts.
