Using Manifest File in PowerBuilder 5

Hi,
We are working in an old project which was developed in PowerBuilder 5.0,
We followed the below steps to get the list of DLL and OCX getting register with our Application
1. Searched in application installation path.
2. Searched in source code.
Is there any other way to get the list of components and reference list?
We need the above list to create manifest file.
We have another big challenge that whether Manifest file is work with PB5 or not? If yes,how to make PB5 app to communicate with manifest?
Please help...
Thanks,
Sundar

Roland,
Please help me to find third party DLL and mention the DLLs to be register.
I hope that the below dlls are related to PowerBuilder 5.0 and need not to register
Pbbgr050.dll, Pbdbt050.dll, Pbdwe050.dll, Pbodb050.dll, Pbroi050.dll, Pbrtc050.dll, Pbrte050.dll, Pbrtf050.dll, Pbshr050.dll, Pbtyp050.dll
I have doubt on following DLLs and ocx
msvcrt.dll, MSVCRT40.dll, OLEPRO32.dll, Pfccom32.dll, CTDATE32.ocx
Please confirm above 4 DLLs and 1 OCX are need to register?
Thanks,
Sundar

  • How to use manifest file to indicate the entry class?

    I am trying to package all my class files together and let the users to run my file using the following command line:
    java -jar program.jar
    For this purpose, I need to specify the main class in the manifest file. I create the manifest file as below:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Main-Class: classname
    and include it in the same directory as my class file. then I jar all the files using:
    jar cvmf manifest.mf program.jar *.*
    However ,when I try to run the program using:
    java -jar program.jar, I get the error message:
    Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from program.jar.
    What have I done wrong? pls help!!! thanks a lot

    Hi.
    here one example:
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: Solitaire.RunMe
    Created-By: 1.3.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    you may run it by : java -jar Solitaire.jar, or doubleclick over the Solitaire.jar
    the main class is RunMe in package Solitaire.
    so the complite path would be Solitaire.RunMe.
    enother one
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Main-Class: RunMe.RunMe
    Created-By: Forte for Java v. 1.0
    you may run it by : java -jar Transmission.jar, or doubleclick over the Transmission.jar
    the main class is RunMe in package RunMe.
    so the complite path would be RunMe.RunMe.

  • Help using manifest file classpath.

    I have a jar file (A) that is dependant on another jar file (B). When I run my app, which references jar A, if it doesn't also include jar B in its class path I get an error referencing jar B (as expected)
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/commons/io/FileUtils
    But if I add the following to jar A's manifest file:
    Class-Path: E:\commons-io-1.1.jar
    if get an error referencing jar A
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: utilities/gui/ExitApplicationProducer

    Ok, now I have "Class-Path: .\commons-io-1.1.jar"...That's still Windows-specific. If you want it to be relative to the referring jar, then simply specify commons-io-1.1.jar without the windows-specific path notation prefixing it.

  • Splashscreen (manifest file) using Netbeans

    Hi,
    I need an enlightenment.. I'm building an app with splash screen using Java's new SplashScreen class. In order to show the splash screen I already include the :
    SplashScreen-Image: icon/Splash.gif
    //icon is a folder inside my JAR fileinside the manifest file.
    What I don't understand is that.. when I run my app from netbeans by pressing the Run button : No Splash Screen shows up. But when I run it directly by double clicking the JAR file (from windows explorer) : the Splash Screen shows up.. Anyone know what is the reason? Do I need to configure something on my Netbeans?
    Thank you for any response..

    Hello
    I use Netbeans and I think maybe it is for this reason: inside Netbeans you compile and run the classes from the java files, not from the jar file.
    So you are not executing the jar, and that is the reason, as that is a parameter in the jar manifest.

  • Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found

    Greetings. I am new to UPK and am seeking guidance on an upgrade to 11.1.
    A little background on what we are trying to do:
    We have two machines:
    Windows 2003 machine in domain 'X' | UPK 11.0.0.1.
    Windows 2008 R2 virtual machine in domain 'Y' | UPK 11.0 on the new machine first, install the 11.0.0.1 patch, and then upgrade to 11.1.
    We are using the same database as the old machine. Developer Server is Standard Authentication, Knowledge Center is Windows authentication.
    ==========================================================================================
    So far we have installed 11.1 with the respective database upgrades, but are lost as to how to migrate the old Content Root data. We have copied all the content to the new Content Root, added it to IIS like the old machine, and verified that the UPK database Content Root path is correct and working.
    For the rest of the post, I am remoted into the server from my local workstation, and then using IE to access KCenter on the server's FQDN, not via localhost.
    Since I am green, so I presumed that I would need to import the titles under Manager in KCenter. I zipped each content folder individually (they are named "1", "9", etc), and then attempted to import each zip file.
    NOTE: At this stage sometimes we are prompted to authenticate again. When it does, sometimes the credentials that we know work, get rejected and we are prompted again. This will repeat until we get a 401 and we have to start over. We have verified that the Windows account currently in session with the site is valid and has administrator authority within KC.
    NOTE2: On the first few tries, .NET complained that maxRequestLength was not large enough. I had our servers team increase it on the actual server in order for us to proceed.
    Provided we don't have to authenticate again, or that it actually accepts our credentials, we get to the 30% mark and then receive the error: *"Package load Failed! Invalid package Title, manifest file cannot be found"*
    Does anyone have any wisdom for this process? The title importation section in the deployment manual is not helping, and the administrator from whom I am taking over this software has not had to deal with this before.
    Thank you,
    Ian

    Hi Marc, thanks for the post,
    I have gone through an extensive troubleshooting process with Oracle, including their development team, in order to fully complete our project setup. As a supplemental bit of information, we also were having connection errors when attempting to publish directly to the knowledge center.
    As far as the context of this post, here is the solution in brief:
    1) Verify that the package being imported was published from the same version of the Developer Client as the Knowledge Center installation's.
    2) Check for database consistency issues. In our case we were using a database that was built in another domain. After numerous attempts with Oracle support on the line to determine the inconsistency, it was decided to completely reinstall and build a new database from scratch in the new domain.
    3) Check application pool identities and access (while we had some inconsistencies here, correcting them did not change the behavior of the import/publish errors)
    In review, a lot of what we had setup was correct. Our primary point of failure, we feel, was using the old database. Technically this should not have been a problem, but Murphy likes to get his way sometimes.
    Cheers,
    Ian

  • Need help with a manifest file

    I'm trying to make a jar file executable, and I've seen numerous questions and answers regarding this particular issue, and none of them helped me with my problem.
    I have a batch file that runs the application without any problem, but when I try to create a manifest with the main class attribute copied char by char from my batch file and run it, I get a message "could not find the main class".
    I been browsing the web for the past 4 hours* now and the only type of answers I see for that problem is something like this:
    ...Main-Class... "${main.class}".
    This type of solution is worthless to me, since it doesn't tell me why my path is correct when I use the .bat file and incorrect when used in a .jar file.
    Thanks,
    Omer.

    I read there the related topics.
    However, it wasn't even close to being helpful.
    I'm using ant and the inner build.xml syntax is probably eluding me somewhere.
    In fact, if it was possible to find an example build file that was written for ant 1.6 or later and contains the Main-Class attribute (I've seen some examples that contain an example file, but none of them contained the Main-Class attribute, and I found some Main-Class examples but none of them showed where they should go or how they should appear within the manifest file.
    I'm at the point when I'm about to give up the whole idea and provide the unprofessionally looking .bat file.
    I thank anyone who has put his mind to this issue, but if there is no build.xml example, I guess you can't help me.
    Thanks anyway.
    It's frustrating to see how the most flexible language there is to work with when coding, becomes next to impossible to work with when you need to deploy it.
    Update, 30.04.2008:
    I have managed to figure out that the problem wasn't with the main class, but with the classpath.
    I run the program from Intellij, and everything works perfectly. I use a batch file, and perfect. I try to use an Ant generated jar with the classpath attribute set exactly like the batch file's paths, and nothing.
    There is no error message either.
    The classpath is located under "/lib/*.jar" in the distribution directory, where the "program.jar" is located.
    I have come to the point that i would pay to see a proper working build.xml and to see the relative and absolute paths of the classpath.
    This is actually harder than developing an extremely rich server application.

  • Powershell: How do I upload files with metadata from a manifest file?

    I am using the script from this blog to try to upload files into SharePoint, using a manifest file to specify the metadata associated with each file. Right now, the script works, but is not populating
    the metadata from the manifest (xml) file. When I write the $metadataManifest variable out to the console, I get the contents of my xml file, so the code is reading the file when it should. However when it gets to the line in bold ($metadataManifest.Columns.Column),
    it does not go into that block...it just skips on to checkin the file. Again the $metadataManifest variable shows all the content in my xml manifest file. Here is what the script looks like...

    Hi Spawn,
    Name should not be a problem.. I will probably post you the entire code (I modified it to meet your goals for having multiple column xml nodes as well)
    For the code snippet below:
    a. In powershell all my changes will have ## prefixed comments
    b. in XML I have changed one column name to "Name" to replicate your case and also added a parent node for making the xml well formed.
    and the SharePoint output

  • Help using jar file!

    Help using jar file!
    Hello
    I have created a jar file by using
    jar cvmf Manifest.txt myjar.jar 1.class Mydirectory
    In 1.java file :I have used
    JEditorPane editor;
    editor.setPage(getClass().getResource("/Mydirectory/default.htm"));
    If I am only giving myjar.jar file to the client without Mydirectory then also it is working fine by showing default.htm in JeditorPane.
    But my problem is I want to use
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start IEXPLORE"+targetstr) ;
    targetstr will be the filename with path of the default.htm
    If I am giving myjar.jar file with Mydirectory to the client it is working but I don't want to give Mydirectory to the client .
    What should I do?
    Is there any solution for this?
    Using another jar file which will include mydirectory can solve this problem?
    Is there any othe concept in java so that I wll be able to hide Mydirectory from client?
    Please help.

    It seems like you could extract the .htm file from the jar, either with Runtime.exec or using the Jar API classes.

  • Problem with jar file & loading manifest file

    Hi Friends

    why this is happen? any other Java settings OR changing in java settings of the machine required while deploying this application on the other machine
    please guide me.

  • Wildcards in ACNS 5 manifest files

    I am trying to write a manifest file for a ACNS V.5.0 system.
    The channel which is controlled by the manifest file should ideally:
    Copy a whole directory tree of an HTML web server on the root CE
    or at least
    copy one directory of an HTML web server on the root CE.
    The files on the HTML web server are NOT real HTML but mpeg video files.
    I found that using the scrawler method does not work, because it is not HTML and using wildcards in a single item line does not work either, because as soon as the wildcard matches more than one item, the system is unable to process that "multiple item". It does work if it matches only one.
    Is there anybody who knows how to achieve what I am trying to do?

    The following link might be of some help to you.

  • Java Web Start and Manifest Files

    I am trying to read a manifest file that lives within a jar file that is deployed / downloaded using JWS.
    I have written some code that works out the JAR file path and then creates a new JAR file and reads the manifest entries from within it. This works when i test the JAR file locally howver when the application is downloaded using JWS And i run the same code I get a util.ZipException with it.
    Has anyone solved this problem?
    I use the standard getClass().getProtectionDomain().getDomain.GetLocation().toString() to get the URL that represents the JAR file where the Main method is executing and where the manifest file is located
    Above code may not be correct.
    Hope you can help

    I have solved it so for people wanting the solution
    String localFile = Main.class.getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation().toString();
    localFile = localFile.concat("!/");
    String tmpString = "jar:";
    String localJarFileString = tmpString.concat(localFile);
    URL localJarFileURL = new URL(localJarFileString);
    JarURLConnection localJarFile = (JarURLConnection)localJarFileURL.openConnection();
    Manifest mf = localJarFile.getManifest();
    Attributes attr = mf.getMainAttributes();
    CREATED_BY = attr.getValue("Created-by");
    SOFTWARE_VERSION = attr.getValue(Attributes.Name.IMPLEMENTATION_VERSION);
    SOFTWARE_VENDOR = attr.getValue(Attributes.Name.IMPLEMENTATION_VENDOR);
    SOFTWARE_VENDOR_TITLE = attr.getValue(Attributes.Name.IMPLEMENTATION_TITLE);

  • Classpath in manifest file

    what is 'classpath' in manifest file used for?
    I tried to create classpath, but doesnt have any significant different....
    thanks
    YAn

    This is what the tutorial says about class-path in a manifest file:
    Download extensions are JAR files that are referenced by the manifest files of other JAR files. See the trail on the extension mechanism for information about extensions.
         In a typical situation, an applet will be bundled in a JAR file whose manifest references a JAR file (or several JAR files) that will serve as an extension for the purposes of that applet. Extensions
         may reference each other in the same way.
         Download extensions are specified in the Class-Path header field in the manifest file of an applet, application, or another extension. A Class-Path header might look like this, for example:
              Class-Path: servlet.jar infobus.jar acme/beans.jar
         With this header, the classes in the files servlet.jar, infobus.jar, and acme/beans.jar will serve as extensions for purposes of the applet or application. The URLs in the Class-Path
         header are given relative to the URL of the JAR file of the applet or application. For more details, see the link shown below:

  • Asdoc how to add a custom local namespace with manifest file?

    Hi there,
    I use the flex 4 beta1 sdk to test the following:
    I have:
    MainScreen.mxml:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Group xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
        xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
        xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/halo"
        xmlns:views="com.xyz.core.view.components.*"
        >
        <views:AbcView id="abcView" right="20" />
    </s:Group>
    I tried to use a manifest file which seems to be how to handle this kind of situation (using ant):
        <arg line="-namespace views ${manifest.file}"/>
        <arg line="-doc-namespaces views"/>
    the manifest.xml contain the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <componentPackage>
               <component id="AbcView" class="com.xyz.core.view.components.AbcView" />
    </componentPackage>
    when I compile asdoc return the following error:
    ...MainScreen.mxml(52):  Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: AbcView
    Any idea how I can force asdoc to add/recognize AbcView.mxml ? Is my use of manifest file correct in this situation?
    Thank you in advance for your help.
    Best regards.

    Hello,
    >Do you have the source path defined?
    yes definitely.
    >and does it contains the folder that is parent of com.xyz.core.view.components ?
    yes absolutely

    Please find below the ant task I use:
